The Dad Challenge Podcast and Wheelchair Rapunzel's Ex-Assistant Are WRONG For This

  • In this video, I discuss the Dad Challenge Podcast's recent interview with Wheelchair Rapunzel's former personal care attendant. As someone who requires personal care attendant services, I am horrified that a PCA would share about their former client on the internet. PCAs see disabled people at their most vulnerable. Both the PCA and Josh from the Dad Challenge Podcast are wrong for this.

I am not so struck on Wheelchair Rapunzel either. however, I think it’s terrible that a personal care attendant would even discuss her. As the job that she does means that she is privy information that nobody else is it is like your doctor discussing your medical details on the Internet that is wholly wrong. I know lots of people with disabilities who parent and perfectly successfully in many ways better than able-bodied people I have seen. My friends who have children and are disabled say that they are always hyper aware that people like this Internet commentator are always watching out for the things they can’t do or aim to need help with. Like you say, there are so many things he could bring up that are not disability related but that perfectly reasonable points to make .

I agree with some things. I had hoped that Josh would get some advice about how to avoid ableist comments so the main issues would be the focus. I don’t think sharing the fact that WR peeing on her PCA should have been shared. I do believe that this was said to demonstrate the level of intoxication and who was caring for a 1 year old. It’s also important to recognise that PCAs are hired from Craigslist, they don’t have caregiving experience, they don’t know a lot about disability. They are being hired to be a PCA, nanny, cleaner and social media manager. A professional caregiver would never accept that level of intensity or risk.
It’s also important to consider what WR shares about herself online. She has content of herself on the toilet, talks about bodily functions in way too much detail. I could imagine some people being confused.
When mentioning that WR could call 911 in an emergency, he is trying to be respectful and point out that she cannot be the only person caring for Ari. He did say that he doesn’t have an issue with this, as long as there are stable people in Ari’s life who can do those parenting tasks that WR isn’t able to do.
Have you seen the rebuttal from WR involving her current PCA? She admits to lying and trying to manipulate Hannah.
While I believe that a PCA should not speak about or for their client/employer, I think that it’s important for people to realise the truth about WR. She not only exploits her daughter, but her assistants and her disability. Something radical had to be done, if comments from predators doesn’t stop a mother from sharing photos of her daughter, then what will? It’s also protecting people from her financial scams. She did post a request for “donations” if people enjoyed her content. It was taken down very quickly.

I had no idea hippa didn't cover caregivers. This really should be amended. I agree that that it us different if the caregiver was speaking out about abuse but they clearly did it to shame her and this person should not be employed as caregiver anymore.

I’ve said this before on one of your other videos. But again thank you for covering this. Personally I feel that her ex assistant is either exaggerating a lot or lying entirely; however regardless if it’s true or not, what she did was really wrong and disgusting. The fact that so many people don’t see an issue with what she did is very disturbing.

I used to watch a lot of content that criticised family vloggers and some of the Dad Challenge Podcast videos popped up in my recommendations. I wouldn’t say I was ever a fan of his, but I initially thought he was informative and did a good job calling out problematic UA-camrs, until it became apparent that he was a problematic UA-camr himself. I noticed more and more casual misogyny creeping into the comments he made, and then he started spreading transphobic propaganda and praising Ron Desantis.

I found this because I had run across one of WR recent reels on IG and I went to the comments and saw a whole lot of hate and the mention of DCP which lead me here bc anytime I hear about a man dragging a woman through the mud - I rather hear a non involved creator to shed some light on the actual situation. I'm really only concerned with WR making sure her kid is safe and taken care of. What you pointed about about what the CG said sound super scummy - like why even bring that up?

A PCA is responsible for upholding HIPAA. The person who went on a podcast to talk about someone’s personal details is violating HIPAA. They are talking about someone’s medical information. In some states this could also result in a call to OIG. I worked in Illinois and a similar capacity for quite a few years and they are emotional abuse law states that is something that has caused cause trauma or negative emotional impact. Emotional abuse, physical abuse, and financial abuse are the main things in Illinois that get you on the adult abuse registry. Doing this in IL could ruin your life.
This is also besides the fact that as a PCA and many states you are a mandated reporter. so if she’s alleging that Alex was endangering her child and she did not she is endangering that child. She could be charged with both adult emotion, abuse, and child neglect.

I am still in shock this happened. Idc that the woman was unlicenced and had no "nda", the whole thing was absolutely disgusting and i hope any and all future employers see what that woman has done. I do like watching DCP but I don’t agree with everything he says. And you are totally right about that ex assistant. It was disgusting how she was talking about wheelchair Rapunzel. I thought it was very immature and disrespectful. She’s actually also very dumb for doing that too because now if she’s trying to get hired for someone else and they do research on her they can find that video of her exposing personal things about her previous employer. And josh was definitely instigating it.

Yes her ex carework is clearly butthurt and unprofessional, and I hope she never gets hired to do this again. Playing that whole "Im a nice helpful girl of God" persona when she speaks about how she got peed on. Like where did she find that careworker? It's very clear she should never have been hired in the first place.
