" I feel confident I can walk into a gig with this and say, "Just give me a mic line". " Is Mr Raphael suggesting that it sounds good lined directly to a PA, with no other amp ? Is that what he's playing through in the video, (although it sounds like a tube amp)?

I think he’s suggesting and doing that. He doesn’t use amps. I am sure whatever he’s plugged into has some eq, etc. His tone with Willie is super clean with a Beyer M160, his delay pedal has a drive knob he uses with Chris Stapleton.

@@harpninjamike Many thanks for your reply. I had forgotten all about this video until a month or so ago when a bloke strolled into a local jam with an HB52 and a Harpgear amp; he kindly lent his rig to me but we didn't get the chance to talk because one or other of us was playing for throughout the evening. I really liked the compact mic and, since I asked my question on here a year ago, the onset of arthritis in my previously injured left hand is making it hard to cup a big heavy mic throughout a two hour gig with my band. I go to some jam sessions where it isn't always feasible for me to set up my rig and I end up playing through an acoustic vocal mic, which I sometimes like but it would be good to have the option to play through something more throaty. Your reply (and my one experience of an HB52) have helped me decide to splash out on one 🙂

@@harpninjamike It did sound great and was very simple because there weren't significant feed back issues - appropriate positioning of the player relative to the amp avoided feedback without the use of any other technical wizardry!
