Thorough review, even if I wont be getting one there is no harm in seeing what the Jones' are sporting. Especially when I just bought a new back-up tent for wild-camping.
Public service video mate 🙃 I wanted a different tent originally but they were out of stock, I got this as a ‘yeah that’ll do for now’ tent but I really like it. Wanted to wait a year before recording anything but my opinion hasn’t really changed since I first pitched it. Although I’ve found out they do an ultra light version .. so I may have a goosey at that for summer stuff .. ATB Tent addict.
I have one and have added a puece of cord with loops tied to allow me to put up the poles without the mat or inner. This allows me to find a good spot and check theres nothing poking up underneath, which is harder to do with the mat. I then add the mat, then the inner and outer (which i clip to the mat rather than the inner). This means I can remove the inner first, if its wet in the morning.
I've got the Cloudup-1 which I really like, it's barely smaller (different pole with a single Y and narrower at the end away from the door). Really good tents for the money though and the prices are going up, I've seen a lot of reviews recommending Naturehike as one of the best tent manufacturers at their price point around.
Great review, thank you! I watched this before buying mine a while back. Another con I’ve found with it is how it slacks off over night. I find the porch section sags in and flaps about. I’ve put some bungee cord through the peg outs on the door and side to keep it tight through the night. Mine doesn’t have the twisty clips for the inner either, I was looking forward to that when I ordered it 😆
Nice review mate , it really is a cracking tent , for one , without the mat it’s 1.5 kg which is awesome for what you get , covered all the points , much appreciated for the link to my site in the description 🙏🙏🙏
Thankyou for instantly answering the question of seam side up or down for the groundsheet. Its not mentioned anywhere in the instructions or other peoples videos. I didn't want to damage the glued seams or have them fail due to having them the incorrect orientation.
Well, you've just helped sell another one. I'm heading out on a bike packing trip and think this will be perfect. Do you have any videos on stove set ups? Great channel
It's a nice tent for the price. I had the pleasure of using it in torrential rain, held up fanatstically, especially with the wind. Oh the wind. I agree, the entrance is abit awkward to get in and out of, but other than that it a good tent. Do get a few extra pegs, for those really windy days.
Thanks for that Dan. Good honest review there. So good infact that you've helped me make my mind up not to get one! It reall is a side opening one I'm after and hearing your comments has helped reinforce that for me. Other than that thouh, it does seem really good. The fact that you can do an out pitch first is a big bonus. I'f I'm honest, I am still tempted because of all the positives you mention, and the price of course. Thanks for the help! All the best. Paul
Excellent tent and excellent review. The only things I'd add to this tent would be a 2 way zip at the front entrance and less mesh on the door part.. That can let a breeze through but.. Other than those small gripes it's excellent. tried and tested!
Thanks David. if I was nit picking I'd also like the porch to be a tiny bit bigger. but having used a Banshee for a number of years on walking trips this one is like a palace in comparison.
Great review. I'd disagree slightly about the first two cons though. 3 Vs 4 season - 100% agree it's a 3 season rather than a 4 season - but that's not worse just different - this is more suited for better weather where you might get more issues with a 4 season tent. One man Vs 2 man - that's an industry thing rather than a issue for this thing- is it any worse than most "2man" tents.....
You can also do outer first without replacing the clips. Just keep the clips of the outer attached to the footprint so that you can more easily remove the inner first if it is still wet in the morning.
Hi Dan,like the height of this tent. You can sit up,making it alot easier to change clothes. OH! You said my evil eye wood stove was cute lol! So I painted eyebrows on it lol!.......Stay healthy you and family 👪
Great review. Covered everything, with good points. Very tempted as a size upgrade to my alpkit soloist which is not quite big enough to get all my bike panniers and items in. Thanks
Nicely filmed video mate. I’m not a fan of this tent, the front opening part, the small vestibule and the blade shape, not for me. Do like the ease of the setup tho and the compactness of it. Thank you for making this 🏕🙏🏼
yeah I remember you saying you didn't like it.. you didn't like the small entrance ; ) I've been really happy with it up to now, for the money its been good. and after being in a Banshee for a while its like a palace!
I have the updated version of Cloudup2 in 210t orange colored. But my comment has to do with outer pitch first. Because of how the door is positioned I feel that in a hard windy rain I would set the corners of the inner tent then throw the outer on, stake and guy the fly then go inside with a towel or microfiber cloth and dry as much as possible. Then connect the clips to the pole system. No matter how fast this is done water is going to get on the inner floor. Even with a rain jacket on it will be a battle to not bring water in by coming in and out. So in the end I would plan to have some sort of cloth to "dry" the inner floor beforehand to minimize the eventuality of wet floor. This is in a scenario where the pitch is done in an exposed area and a tarp first setup is not possible. My two cents or shillings worth
I have this. The entrance is too small specially when your cooking at the porch but its easy to set it up. I camp in 50 mph with light rain and still standing and dry. I dont know in the storm or heavy rain with strong wind. You might get wet as the inner tent mesh is quite low.
Easy running honest review without moneyness. Plus real life pitching which is unique idea. Because all above.. Subscribed strait away. Thanks for sharing your experience. Greeting!

Dan👌 Nice review brother, thanks. Good complete set up both ways, shows the versatility, and pros/cons as well. Looks like a decent one person 3 season tent although a bit small for my 6'5" frame. The one pole issue would be my main concern at this point. There's always trade-offs with most every thing, outdoor gear is not immune. Great video, well done. Take care, good health. See you next time... Enjoy!
yes, the single pole worries me too, hence I carry the DIY pole repair kit. but you have to have trust in your gear, which takes time. I had the Banshee for a few years and learned to trust it in bad weather. I'm still not fully there yet with this one but its getting closer. I'm heading up into the hills in Wales next month again so that will be another test. pretty much guarantee crap weather this time of year : )

G'day Dan, a really good review mate, well covered. Yep, with ya, 2 person generally = 1 person + gear. Like the design of those clips, I assume they've held up, otherwise you would have said so I'm sure. I do like designs that you can basically establish the structure and still pick up and move around, either simply for aspect or to just maneuver around the local flora, perhaps both.. Inner or outer set up first is nothing to be sneezed at either imo, sure you most probably needn't worry, but when you do need it........................ I do like the side openers too, even for 1, but hey, a very decent buy all things considered. Cheers Duke.
Thanks mate, I was trying to be balanced, inspire of the fact that I do really like the tent. so far the clips have held up fine.. only worry on the tent is that single pole. but I've heard from others that it can really bend in the wind and not snap. time will tell. I'll keep carrying my bit of hose pipe! I probably did Naturehike a disservice there, as reading something on this tent last night it said it is a 1 person tent that can fit 2 in an emergency. which makes a lot more sense. its probably sellers that just claim a 2 person tent. hope you're well mate. Dan
@@CampLifeBushcraft Not viewer anymore. Based on your review, I purchased it and did full autonomous week at Algerian Sahara. Plus few separate days in tent at areas without hotel. The tent is good. I only had issues closing its external shell during wind gusts and it takes some time to set it up compared to other models I used before in Namib desert. But those were canvas type and much larger. Thank you!
Nice review thanks 🙏🏼 I got a question. Do you clip in the inner tent with the outer tent ? Because the clips are there but I got the feeling that then it’s to stiff inside the tent.
Hello, I just got one of these and it does seem a real faff to pitch compared to my more traditional Wild country Helm 1 with pole sleeves, inner and outer together. Do you think that the fly will rub on the clips that holds the inner to the poles seeing as it's only draped over the frame? Thanks
Honest review dude 👍 I quite like it, but if upgrading to a lighter tent I'd probably opt for a side opener again. That's good for the money though. Laters xxx
I've had one of these for the last 3 years. It's a copy of a Big Agnes tent. However I don't have £400 to lash out on a relatively flimsy bit of kit so this fits the bill for me. It's not as light as something more expensive but there is a limit to performance and durability vs weight. I've seen a video where 2 guys go on Dartmoor with a Cloud Up and an expensive MSR tent in a storm. The MSR snapped at least one pole and the Naturehike survived intact.
I was going to get one of them but ended up getting the vango hydra instead part of me still thinks that i should have gone with it because i like the set up. Happy with my hydra though might get the cloud 2 in the summer. Good review
Thanks for a great review and for including some comparison with Banshee 200. Had Banshee 200 then after i completely used it, got Banshee 200 Pro. Used that one too :) Now considering this one and was great to hear about its pros and cons
I have basically the same tent made by tnh. I think you got the + and -‘s pretty well spot on. They also market it as a 2 person tent, which it clearly is not. 1 person + gear, great. 1 person + gear + dog, snug but probably do-able. 2 people + gear? Heck no. But it is a great little tent, I have a degenerative disease in my spine, I am very sensitive to weight. Also there’s setup, I don’t bend so well so a quick and easy setup matters. Family size tent with many poles? Forget it I’d be on the ground crying long before I got it setup (literally). But this I can get setup without too much trouble. A very good ground pad is also essential for me, I would never be able to sleep on the ground without one.
last night I was reading something on Naturehike and they actually bill this as a 1 person tent that can sleep 2 in an emergency. which actually makes a lot more sense. But I guess the nature of trying to sell tents, like an estate agent trying to sell a house the sellers claim a bit more than the reality. It's still a great tent though! I'm sorry that you suffer with your back. my Father also has had a lifetime of back issues and I know it's a hard thing to live with. Good that you don't let it stop you doing what you love. What pad do you use?
@@CampLifeBushcraft well, 1st thing to understand is I don’t hike lol I would love to hit the woods and just go for a couple weeks but I can’t. My back would lock up and I’d have to be rescued, so when I do go it’s car camping at prepared camp grounds. I use an inflatable tnh pad on top of a shooting pad. The shooting pad is quite thick and adds a lot of r-value. I have no idea how much of course because they just aren’t rated for that but it really helps. If I were hiking I wouldn’t take that though because it’s not light. I’d love to give hammocks a try, but here in Iowa it’s Illegal to tie any kind of cordage or strap around a tree. Can make experimenting with tarp setups a bit difficult as well! Such a silly law, I have nice thick tree straps that would not hurt the tree but doesn’t matter, if I set anything like that up a dnr officer will tell me to take it down.
Hi Dan how are you? Good review. When looking for a tent I always skipped over inner 1st. The thinking was if your on the side of a hill windy isn't it more of a pain in the .. to put up? Good of them to send a ground sheet. Again that was a pain you find a tent then you have to find the right sheet. After everything I thought about making a tarp tent instead. Not that I've had chance to try camping yet hoping this year me and the dog will be down south. With any look we might bump into you. Do you give autographs?
I like that this one gives both options. I used to have an inner pitch first tent years ago and had to pitch in heavy rain.. the inner got very wet which wasn’t nice. I only give autographs if I have a pen : )
Would you feel a wee bit more comfortable about it being called "4 seasons" with a snowskirt? I just came across it here (in South Africa) with a snowskirt option - about 10 quid more for that option.
Me and my girlfriend want to do a multiday hike in Scotland and we want to buy the Cloud up 2 or the Lanshan 2. The cloud up 2 is (from what I've heard) more stable and easier to set up. But it is much smaller than the lanshan to fit two people. So i don't know which to pick: lanshan 2 or cloud up 2. Does anyone has advice?
I would suggest the cloud up 2 is certainty small for two people. The lanshan 2 is a better size. I have a video on the Lanshan 2 here on the channel as well.

Thank you!
Very helpful review, and especially the tutorials for pitching
Thanks 🙏
Very good review, I have subscribed, cheers mate.
Thanks Tanko. Appreciate that 👍
Dan
Boss review 👍 I don’t see the need for the extra buckle on the inner, only if you wasn’t going to use the ground sheet I suppose.
you can pitch it without the inner off the ground sheet. saves weight for non buggy areas.
nice review. nothing fancy - just stating what you have found. much appreciated.
My pleasure bud 👍👍
Nice review thanks 🙏🏼
I got a question. Do you clip in the inner tent with the outer tent ?
Because the clips are there but I got the feeling that then it’s to stiff inside the tent.
I generally don't use them.
Good video, I've had my eye on these tents. They seem like a good value. If I ever travel to the UK I may do some camping.
You should!
Very detailed review Dan Happy camping hope u and family r well
Thanks Nigel .. all good here mate 👍
Nice 1 Buddy first time i seen both options i think ..still love my banshee 200 tho 🤣🤣👍👍👍🤞
Thanks Craig.
yeah I've a soft spot for my Banshee, great little tent 👍
Hello, I just got one of these and it does seem a real faff to pitch compared to my more traditional Wild country Helm 1 with pole sleeves, inner and outer together.
Do you think that the fly will rub on the clips that holds the inner to the poles seeing as it's only draped over the frame? Thanks
Excellent review. Good job and keep it up. :-)
Thanks mate 👍
Honest review dude 👍 I quite like it, but if upgrading to a lighter tent I'd probably opt for a side opener again. That's good for the money though. Laters xxx
Cheers, yeah a small entrance can be a squeeze to get in and out of. #ohmatron
@@CampLifeBushcraft they could have made a bigger door...inner door is even smaller
You did a really good job!
Thanks 👍
Seen it in the flesh and is a nice unit for the dough 👍
I’m getting the ultra light 10d version soon. Weighs a kilo .. good for summer walks 😁😁😁
@@CampLifeBushcraft nice, just toying with a sturdy tent for our trip!
@@WildCamper your force 10 not up to it?
@@CampLifeBushcraft after hearing the wind last night here in Temby I have been looking at a hilliberg 💸
@@WildCamper wow, hope there’s room for me after my tent breaks 😇😂
Thanks for a really good review.
You’re welcome 👍
Good review
Cheers John 👍
Thanks for a great review and for including some comparison with Banshee 200. Had Banshee 200 then after i completely used it, got Banshee 200 Pro. Used that one too :) Now considering this one and was great to hear about its pros and cons
Thanks, glad it was helpful 👍
@@CampLifeBushcraft If I don't like it - consider it to be your fault :)
Would you recommend the 3f UL lanshan 2 tent as a good backpacking tent anyway keep up the amazing UA-cam videos your channel is very cool
Awesome review! Thanks a lot!
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for posting
My pleasure 👍
Well dune man that deserves like
Thanks mate 👍
A very nice Tutorial, thanks Dan
Cheers Sam : )
Thank you for showing how to use those damned two-way buckles 😅. Great video
Thank you 🙏
My next tent, great review thanks 👍
Hope you get on with it. I've been really happy with mine.
Appreciate you watching.
Dan : )
Got this tent on the way. Thanks for the great review and erection variations.
😂 cheers 👍
Great review, had any experience with the nature hike 60L bag?
Exeptional review, thank you so much!
My pleasure. 🙏
Cool video. Keep us updated please.
Excellent review, thanks. I'm wondering though if, when packed, it'll go smaller? I'm thinking about stuffing it in a saddle bag for bikepacking.
It can pack a lot smaller if you separate the rods and compress the shells
Such a silly law, I have nice thick tree straps that would not hurt the tree but doesn’t matter, if I set anything like that up a dnr officer will tell me to take it down.
great review thanks for sharing
My pleasure mate.
Have you sealed the seams on the nordisk Svalbard si tent or have you left the seams as they came out but have is it leaked
@John Clarke I have only ever water proofed it after a full season. It's never leaked, so far! 😁
The 4 season version has snow skirts, the others are 3 season.
Would you feel a wee bit more comfortable about it being called "4 seasons" with a snowskirt?
I just came across it here (in South Africa) with a snowskirt option - about 10 quid more for that option.
very good review, Do you need to seam seal the Naturehike Cloud up 2?
thanks 🙏
I never sealed mine and it’s been fine.
@@CampLifeBushcraft Thanks 🙏
@@mohakhu no problem 👍
Me and my girlfriend want to do a multiday hike in Scotland and we want to buy the Cloud up 2 or the Lanshan 2. The cloud up 2 is (from what I've heard) more stable and easier to set up. But it is much smaller than the lanshan to fit two people.
So i don't know which to pick: lanshan 2 or cloud up 2. Does anyone has advice?
I would suggest the cloud up 2 is certainty small for two people.
The lanshan 2 is a better size.
I have a video on the Lanshan 2 here on the channel as well.
should i positione the cloud up with the back or the front in the wind for a maximum of stability?
Wind blowing on the back in my opinion.
Anybody have this with a long sleeping mat such as a long big Agnes rapide 198cm?
I've used the exped 9 long and wide mat. It's fitted OK.
Superb video!
Thank you very much!
