This is such a great game! I'm a 40 year old woman and I used to play this game back in my early 20s when I had my first apartment. Before kids, before I was married, back when I had few responsibilities. Ah, good times. I still have my console and the game, just not much free time to play anymore.
I know the feeling. This was one of the definitive games of my childhood. I think I was like 18 when I actually managed to beat it for the first time (the desert killed my play throughs as a kid and before there were guides on the internet).
the sprite art for this game set the bar very high for all future jrpgs i would play later on. i just finished octopath and it's still not as memorable as bof3 bof4 and dragon quarter
You might be remembering the Peco Hybrid instead of the Rei hybrid. There is only one sprite per hybrid, although there are actually two versions of each one since if you add a particular gene to the mix you get an extra stat boost.
I would love to see the remake of Breath of Fire 3. It made me think about so many things when I first played this game. I remember getting all upset over all the horrible things that's happening around Ryu.
Actually they kind of did a bit of remake for PSP. now has a fishing game in the menu XD (actually spent 99 (max) hrs in fishing game during the PS1 days)
Awesome! Even after playing this game as many times as I have, I've never seen all of the hybrid forms or all of the unique types of breath attacks. Thanks for that!
@KarestaEliazal Yes, but it isn't as powerful as the True Kaiser. There is a slight difference in their breath weapons, but not enough to bother showing. (True Kaisers is gold colored)
I'm surprised that no one has ripped any sprites of the dragon forms on this game yet. I wish someone did though because I'm having trouble with setting up stuff on the psx emulator that I have on laptop. Can anyone please give me helpful tips, i would gladly appreciate it. :)
i think you missed one transform. at 2:50 you transform into Rei Hybrid. I've got a transform long time ago where the dragon was pink. But i looked exactly like this ,just with another colour.^^ I dont know the exact combination :/

Nice. I am 34 and was playing it when I was around 14. Still one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Except for getting that dam Vinegar from the well!!
I hope you found time to come back to this gem over the last few years. Our time is to short to not keep some of it for ourselves.

Cool beans played through a few times never seen the fusion/Tiamat. Once I get Warrior/Myrmidon it's too fun to go for double focus holy strikes! :D

not sure but I think I did that too but a bit redish from how I remember. not sure.
The pink Hybrid is when you add the Force gene in the fusion process. You then get a bonus on your critical strike chance + dodge.

Theres only two dragon forms I find useful in this game. True Kaiser & Myrmidon.
