The reason _why_ Tiber Septims and his decedents can wear the amulet of kings isn't because he ascended to godhood and became Talos. It's because they are (probably symbolic) decedents of Alessia, who entered into a Covenant with Akatosh where, in return for her and her decendents wearing the amulet of kings, he would keep the dragonfires lit and thus oblivions influence from Mundus (which contains Nirn, the mortal plane.) Her, Reman Cyrodill, and Tiber Septim were all approved by Akatosh to sit on the Ruby Throne, and thus their decedents could wear the Amulet of Kings. Basically, Septims can wear the amulet b/c of the Covenant with Akatosh where he would keep the dragonfires lit and thus Oblivion and Mundus seperate as long as Alessia and her decedents wore the Amulet of Kings. IDK if Tiber Septim being Dragonborn, where he had the Aedric Soul of a Dragon, had any influence over it all but he sits on the Ruby Throne and Akatosh likes him, so his kids can wear the amulet. Sorry for the lore dump, trying to not *UM ACKSHUALLY* you, I just genuinely think tES lore is fascinating and I like to go thru the UESP wiki and like. learn about all this. It's so cool. tES has some really neat lore. Sorry if there's anything I got wrong.
To extend this, I've thought a lot about the deal Akatosh made for the past few years. Really a very good deal for him and maybe not so good for mortals. "I'll protect you so long as you uphold an empire that worships me as it's primary diety", essentially?? And this at the tail-end of a humanity which saw Shezzar / Shor (you-know-who literally fought Akatosh at the head of the first ever war) as the God of Man in a lot of ways. FYI the biggest reason why AKA and Lorkhan aren't buds (according to Kirkbride at least) is that Lorkhan's whole deal is for someone to achieve Amaranth, start a new dream. Which would mean no more Akatosh. So Akatosh uses Pelinal, certainly a Shezzarine, to shift humanity's scales in his favor, simultaneously making the Shezzarines a force for himself. He has Alessia create a new religion with him at the head, designed to make elvish gods more palpable for a group that was just enslaved by elves for hundreds of years. Then later on in a weird twist, Talos shows up, probably Mantling Lorkhan, restoring the Dragon's other half (they're two sides of the same coin ultimately, Time and Space). What that means in the grand scheme of things might never be even hinted at, since all the interesting writers at Bethesda are gone. Maybe it's all part f Lorkhan's plan in the end.

In Morrowind I did a small mod that unlocks the NPC-only classes for the player and added little class descriptions to them too. I just thought it would mesh well with alternative start mod, since you could then make a character who has never even heard of the Nerevarine prophesies and can live his normal life as a pauper or a rare books collecting merchant, an Ashlander tribal or an escaped slave.
This is correct. Though getting some way of learning spells outside of the MG was great, it's infuriating Bethesda game design repeats the DB attacks from the Morrowind expansions.
I see the conjurer and all I can think is "hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello" while the cliffracer song plays and Jauffrey and Sean Bean keep hitting each other.
Oblivions lock pick game is actually very easy once you know the trick. When the tumblers will stay in place, the attempt you make that WILL stick when you press the button if it makes a very distinct double click sound. All the bad attempts give a single click sound. Your character skill will only really scale the chance to get the double click sound per attempt and the speed the tumblers fall/how man fall/how fast you can force the lock
Yeah, at first glance it looks super random, but it isn't. A shame that they didn't include it in Skyrim and went with the Fallout style lockpicking instead. Also a shame that there is no direct way to influence NPCs disposition. It's still a stat in the game, but never shown to the player, not even in a vaguely in-universe way, like NPCs dialogue.
You can also trick the game into giving you the unlock every time by doing a kind of weird double push on the tumbler, but the timing is finicky and depends on your lockpick skill and the level of the lock. But if you know it you can open a master level lock with 1 lockpicking skill in 1 attempt every single time even without the sound cues.
@@HappyBeezerStudios I won’t lie, playing as a child I HATED oblivions picking specifically because I had no idea about the sound! A conjurer using alchemy is definitely not a deal breaker, because something like half of the alchemy apparatus I've ever picked up were stolen from conjurer and necromancer lairs, and there's something like a 1/3 chance each conjurer spawns with a random potion (although those are obviously store bought potions, considering the restorative effects are instant)

Y'know, that might be why he has to rely on mortals opening gates. Not only do the dragonfires keep him out, which are weakening through the course of the game, but his punishment following his attack on Mournhold might have sealed him away more strongly than other gods. Or maybe the compact only applies to Princes forcing their way into Nirn, not mortals opening up passage ways into Oblivion.
@@JustBackgroundNoise I figured that the Tribunal had to enforce it, since Sotha Sil and Almalexia actually stepped in to stop Mehrunes Dagon when he violated the Compact. I would love them to actually include things like jobs and stuff in 6. Like you could buy a shop, stock it and sell items to random npc customers. Or like start a farm and just come back every now and again from you adventures to harvest your crops or till the feilds

Some npcs have birthsigns! Wiki says Mancar Camoran and necromancers have birthsigns! Attacking conjurer is from spelltomes dlc. Why he runs to you and attacks, nobody knows :p Oh, didnt use one of the best summons, clanfear? They are really strong, 50 con I think. I also like to jump when someone speaks, it looks so goofy!
Conjurer's do too, apparently. It's a special birthsign unique to the class itself, but in the case of Conjurers, it seems to be the same as the Mage sign. To be fair, if I want to be a real NPC, I'd have to walk into walls a good 50% of the time, but that probably wouldn't have made for a good video.
From memory, enemies in Morrowind *do* level up with you - sort of. Nothing as obvious as Oblivion or Skyrim, though. Iirc, each *random* enemy is basically determined from an encounter table, and which table is used is determined by your level. Which is why you probably won't see, say, Blighted Kagouti at level 1. Anything hand-placed like bosses will have fixed levels, though.
As much as I enjoy your Morrowind runs, I grew up playing Oblivion (literally, I played this game from childhood well into my teens, always sucking at it bad enough that I never beat it) and would love to see more Oblivion challenge/silly runs like you do with Morrowind.
A Note about Restorationm is that Conjurers Can actually cast Healing Spells, as some of them (most likely the Bretons due to their Racial Restoration bonus) will actually have Healing Spells and use them in combat
Yes! I jump before talking to people too. It's just so comfortable, relaxing in the air while having a conversation. All I need at that point is a fine whine in my hand as well 🎉😎
the easiest way for cash is to just sell all the alchemy equipment from the mages guild halls. should get you 5k or so. if you like cheese you can also lure umbra to the temple district and have her scrap a dozen guards which should get you another 3k or so. but you may need to reload since the guards attack sometimes attack you. the standard summons most people take are scamp at apprentice, headless zombie at journeyman, daedroth/frost atronach/clannfear at expert and lich/gloom wraith at master. also, the easiest daedric quest is sheo's since it only requires level 2 as well and no combat. it's useless too. also, if you ever plan on playing through the oblivion campaign again, you can just ignore everything outside during the light the dragonfires quest. just run to the temple of the one and wait inside for martin.
20:30 lockpicking in Oblivion is goated. You don't need to level the skill when you're good at lockpicking. I can pick locks without breaking any picks if I'm careful, while in Skyrim it's so hard for me I always get pissed when I stumble upon a door or chest that I have to pick the lock to open it.
Easiest way I've found is to just try the middle, ends then divide in half until I find it start to move and go from there but yea Skyrim lock picking is awful
15:58 I thought I was the only person who figured this out. Every other person who has done any sort of Oblivion run on youtube I've seen always says you have to wait until Tar-Meena tells you what to do and it's an annoying waste of time, and the comments section agrees, and... no. Just, no. You have no idea how great it is to hear someone else say "first letter of each paragraph". Fuck's sake man, I legit thought I was the only person who figured it out on their own. Bless you!
The county would be the region of the map associated with each count, but their cities would just be cities. The capital cities of each county, technically.
The way to make lightning spells not painfully inaccurate is to make them have a small AoE radius. Like 1 or 2 feet. then you just hit in their general area (or the ground at their feet) and it’ll connect pretty much every time without really affecting the cost of the spell.
I'm guessing the Conjuration pool has heavy armor as bound armor is technically heavy, although giving light armor experience it is daedric and I believe some of it counts as heavy? Probably just to simplify things down the line even if it ended up being more convoluted.
In vanilla Oblivion the bound cuirass and greaves are flagged as heavy armor while the helmet, gauntlets and boots are flagged as light armor. The unofficial oblivion patch, which a lot of people will use for bug fixes, makes the entirety of bound armor into light armor.
Fun Fact: Dagon isn't violating the Coldharbour Compact because he already violated it around 800 years back. The consequence was the Deadlands being cut off from almost every other realm in Oblivion and the Mundus.
3:36 "Honestly, some of the skills in this game feel more like support than anything else... You're not gonna *beat* the game with those skills." I fully expect to see you post a video at some point where you beat an Elder Scrolls game using *only* items you can get by lockpicking, poisons crafted through alchemy, or something along those lines.
I remember seeing a theory that Marune Dagon wouldn't care if he won the events of the oblivion crisis. He is a God of many things, but change is one of his domains. By forcing change, he gets what he wants. From my memory, nothing really stops him from causing another oblivion crisis
can't wait for openmw to be complete. the next game they are gonna work on is oblivion. that's gonna be awesome being able to fix the game and add back all the features from morrowind they removed added back into oblivion.

I feel like someday my former career as a small time weed dealer will be as foreign a concept as that of a hostler.
"Freelance pharmaceuticals."
can't be a back alley drug dealer if it's legal, regulated, and taxed.
I would love them to actually include things like jobs and stuff in 6. Like you could buy a shop, stock it and sell items to random npc customers.
Or like start a farm and just come back every now and again from you adventures to harvest your crops or till the feilds
This video is like so informative (which is all explained briefly but with enough detail to tell me all I need to know) as well as funny and just super chill idk I just love this video man
Some npcs have birthsigns! Wiki says Mancar Camoran and necromancers have birthsigns!
Attacking conjurer is from spelltomes dlc. Why he runs to you and attacks, nobody knows :p
Oh, didnt use one of the best summons, clanfear? They are really strong, 50 con I think.
I also like to jump when someone speaks, it looks so goofy!
Conjurer's do too, apparently. It's a special birthsign unique to the class itself, but in the case of Conjurers, it seems to be the same as the Mage sign.
To be fair, if I want to be a real NPC, I'd have to walk into walls a good 50% of the time, but that probably wouldn't have made for a good video.
If you ever try this again, we need to see the all consuming power of the mighty OSTLER
2:54 "why wont you eugh"
"... and getting gold in Oblivion can be a bit tricky." Merchants hate him, selling 7k identicle scrolls in one sitting! Click here to find out

Love your commentary and editing. Your humor is very much to my liking.
All I need at that point is a fine whine in my hand as well 🎉😎
The shopkeep like 😨😨😨 had me rolling 😂
the easiest way for cash is to just sell all the alchemy equipment from the mages guild halls. should get you 5k or so. if you like cheese you can also lure umbra to the temple district and have her scrap a dozen guards which should get you another 3k or so. but you may need to reload since the guards attack sometimes attack you.
the standard summons most people take are scamp at apprentice, headless zombie at journeyman, daedroth/frost atronach/clannfear at expert and lich/gloom wraith at master.
also, the easiest daedric quest is sheo's since it only requires level 2 as well and no combat. it's useless too.
also, if you ever plan on playing through the oblivion campaign again, you can just ignore everything outside during the light the dragonfires quest. just run to the temple of the one and wait inside for martin.
I'd absolutely love to see more Oblivion.
I wonder if everyone who lives to old age in Tamriel ends up with 100 alchemy just from eating every day.
1:02 my friend spotting me from across the room
Enemy Conjurer: "Why won't you... Ugh..."
He was demonstrating what he wanted us to do.
@@JustBackgroundNoise Only for them to do that.
That is probably the most attractive character I have seen in Oblivion, so...
Just found your channel through the Morrowind without the main quest, time to binge all of your videos.
I also jump before talking to people in Oblivion lol, the jumping in general is so fun in this game.
"Get him, Vex!"
Nah I don't feel like it
I liked playing oblivion and pretending I was a Witcher. The thieves guild quest line is also the best guild quest in my opinion.
'when ya think about it humans are water elementals'
When i tell you i nearly choked on what i was eating from chuckling
LOL that scene with Baurus gliding in the sewers...the very same thing happened the last time I played Oblivion!
Using the staff doesn't make you not a conjurer. If you put one in the NPC inventory they'd use it.
loving the new content mr noises! looking forward to the next one!
Damn, you did one of the most succinct explanations of Obliv's janky levelling system I've ever heard, well done.
"voiced my jean luke picard of the uss enterprise"
Presumably the Coldharbour Compact would've been nullified when Almalexia murdered Sotha Sil in the Tribunal DLC for Morrowind.
Bless you!
the conjurer attacks you at the beginning because of the spell tomes dlc, he always drops one.
The county would be the region of the map associated with each count, but their cities would just be cities. The capital cities of each county, technically.
19:16 I always do that in Bethesda games, when the world freezes around you when speaking to a NPC I love to jump and talk to them from the air above.
The way to make lightning spells not painfully inaccurate is to make them have a small AoE radius. Like 1 or 2 feet. then you just hit in their general area (or the ground at their feet) and it’ll connect pretty much every time without really affecting the cost of the spell.
I like to have your content on in the background while i grind in MMOs.
You're doing a good job at being @JustBackgroundNoise
You blew it! Conjurers summon daedra, not undead! Necromancers summon underad! 0/10 Run failed.
I have played this game for at least 1000 hours but I still watched this whole video
Dude the POGCHAMP at 14:51 is beautiful
ah ye a youtuber that has that 2015 youtube vibe insta sub
You're so funny. I love these videos.
You're far from the only one the jumps then talks xD
At level 50 Sneak, You can sneak perfectly in any armor
I would love to see more oblivion content 😊
I'm guessing the Conjuration pool has heavy armor as bound armor is technically heavy, although giving light armor experience it is daedric and I believe some of it counts as heavy? Probably just to simplify things down the line even if it ended up being more convoluted.
In vanilla Oblivion the bound cuirass and greaves are flagged as heavy armor while the helmet, gauntlets and boots are flagged as light armor. The unofficial oblivion patch, which a lot of people will use for bug fixes, makes the entirety of bound armor into light armor.
@@DeltaFiend bethesda has fr been bad at this shit for ever huh
Also when you grab a sigil stone you can jump off the top and it will let you out faster, gotta time it right
Fun Fact: Dagon isn't violating the Coldharbour Compact because he already violated it around 800 years back. The consequence was the Deadlands being cut off from almost every other realm in Oblivion and the Mundus.
18:45 I freaking love your humour man and the way you deliver the jokes with self awareness
Most underrated Channel so far! Loving it so far, watched that alchemy mw video before 😂
Loved the subtle reference to Fable with "demon door" haha.
I liked this video. The combination of your knowledge of the game's jank mechanics and the comedy was a lot of fun!
Zoom at 14:42 was great hahaha
3:36 "Honestly, some of the skills in this game feel more like support than anything else... You're not gonna *beat* the game with those skills."
I fully expect to see you post a video at some point where you beat an Elder Scrolls game using *only* items you can get by lockpicking, poisons crafted through alchemy, or something along those lines.
14:37 and the segment right after of the dude in the back with the face took me tf out. I love this game so much.
13k subscribers congrats man!
9 months later and it's 87k that's sick
14:44 The merchant that is slowly zoomed in on, looks strikingly similar to the Bogdanoff twins LOL
I remember seeing a theory that Marune Dagon wouldn't care if he won the events of the oblivion crisis. He is a God of many things, but change is one of his domains. By forcing change, he gets what he wants. From my memory, nothing really stops him from causing another oblivion crisis
''Just Background Noise'' is the perfect name for a channel like this, cause I'm watching this while grinding on my PS5!
Omg i died when you questioned " deedric?" The way some npcs pronounce that is astounding, like no qa??😂
He's only gone and done it.
This was hilarious. Thank you for doing this.
It's the city of Chorrol in that context. The county Chorrol is the city, the surrounding villages, and the land in that corner of the map.
I love when the same rules apply to the player and npcs, always makes games way more cohesive
I don't know how I stumbled onto this channel but I'm glad I did
I used to always push that first guard NPC in the oblivion gate into the lava so I could loot his armor and weapon 😂😂 good times as a kiddo
Your Videos are fantastic!! Only problem I have with em is there aren't enough of em! Keep up the good work boss!
can't wait for openmw to be complete. the next game they are gonna work on is oblivion. that's gonna be awesome being able to fix the game and add back all the features from morrowind they removed added back into oblivion.
An interesting followup could be doing it as specific NPC, including copying their names, stats and playing the game how that NPC would do.
Yes, play as Glarthir the paranoid wood elf. "Just as I suspected!"
[ @19:30 ] the earliest one is actually sheogorath. You can activate his shrine at LvL 1.
His shrine is also easier to get to than azuras
I love u Morrowind boi
Humans really are water elementals!
