  • Oblivion has been a long requested game to join the "I Killed Every NPC" series, and boy am I glad that I finally gave it a shot. Oblivion was a fantastic adventure. I see why this game is still talked about and loved by fans, even nearly 20 years after its release!

Want you to murder Morrowind next. No essential NPCS (the expansion Tribunal tries to prevent you from killing NPCs by making them super overpowered but that just turns them into optional superbosses instead), a main quest that can be accomplished even if you murder plot-essential characters, every fucking bandit has a unique name so you have to track down and kill them too. And the best part is that there's a "taunt" feature that allows you to kill almost every character in the game legally.

I agree that oblivion does have some repetitive quests, but not on the same scale as skyrim ("oh, the 5000th quest where you need to kill draugrs and retrieve an item!"). I think that all in all, oblivions quests, especially the side quests, are way more diverse and entertaining

I think what I enjoy most about Oblivion is the story lines of the side quests and dlcs. in shivering isles its never stated that jyggalag is actually a bad guy but instead a force that has to do it because it is his nature, when you talk to sheogorath hes not his usual insanity when talking about the greymarch, hes talking about pure absolute suffering which no one truly takes pleasure from which neither self are truly wanting it, but instead a cruel curse set upon the other daedric gods.
So when you finally beat jyggalag the real sheogorath you're freeing a false self and the true self from this endless cycle, and give the false self a true form, yourself. Jyggalag says hes finally free to go about by himself with not turning back into a inverse of himself so he disappears from giant head projection and is presumably wandering Oblivion in all its form.
really hoping with ES6 we get possibly a jyggalag focused quest, where he tasks you with creating a new plane of order possibly establishing it as a way to maintain the balance needed for the realms so that there is not another merunes dagon event. but instead of him turning into a deranged tyrant he uses his experience as sheogorath to level himself into becoming one of the better daedric princes, possibly setting up an empire to rival the high elves and imperials.

Given that the Elder Scrolls lore hints that reality is (among other things) kept in place by seven pillars and most of them have been destroyed, and the Thalmor want to essentially force the world to the primordial state it was before reality forces the Mer/Elves into a very long but still mundane mortality, and a way they are accomplishing this is the destruction of said pillars
A Jyggalag quest where you try and keep reality stable as it's nearing its unraveling while the last pillar is dissolving would be, forgive the joke, INSANE, if well executed

I like to imagine the reason you were imprisoned at the start was because of murdering countless people, but due to the whole Dagon situation, nobody really remembered what you did and kinda let you go

    Well, back at it again!
And twas stood the adoring fan, a bright and young soul shattered by the cruelty in the shape of a person that he once worshipped as a hero. His grand champion stood in front of him, his dark sword hiding the blood that coated it from tip to pummel, dripping the crimson liquid on the snow and leaving spots of it, contrasting against the white pure blanket of frozen dew. The man he once worshipped as a great and honorable warrior now had the stench of death all over him, a putrid smell that seemed to mimic a miasma of decay, his eyes looking like the deepest abyss of oblivion... Staring directly at him. Through out all of this, the young wood elf kept wondering why? Why did this... Thing keep him alive, he tried to rationalize it in any way shape or form, either a act of kindness or a scream of help from the light that was trapped within the grand champion's soul. The adoring fan's eyes widened as he saw the monster lift his sword arm, he tried to call out to his idol, trying to remind him one final time of his most loving fan, the one that considered him an inspiration for all... Yet his calls fell on deaf ears as he finally realized why the grand champion kept him alive... He simply wanted someone to watch the end of cyrodil, the end of the empire. In that moment the once bright elf snapped, letting out a smile of insanity in the end as he was struck down by the sword of his hero, his inspiration, his body falling down the cliff as it hit the snow below, his final resting place as the cold enveloped him. The once champion of cyrodil, now nothing more than a catastrophe greater than the Oblivion gates, greater than merunes dagon, would watch the one person that tried to see kindness in him even throughout his systematic massacre fall like all others, his body fated to be consumed and mummified by the show... Hed lift his feet as a moment of clarity took him... It was time for the last soul in cyrodil to perish... It was time he joined the sea of souls he created... And part of him... Wished his most adoring fan would be there to greet him with that same bright, dumb smile.

You were soo close, but there's at least 2 NPC's that I know of that you soft locked out of the game during prep. In the DB, there's a quest that when started spawns an argonian in the marshes outside of Lewiin, but you kill the male argonian in the DB before you got that quest to spawn the other argonian in the woods. And in the arena, if you talk to the gray prince before challenging him, you'll be directed to a vampires lair. I did leave details out cause they're both easy to miss but both are highly rewarding. And nonetheless, a valiant effort! ***Edit*** Scratch that. There's at least four you missed, as there are also a few quest in Bruma that won't spawn until after the quest had been started. There's one that spawns a unique bruma guard. One that spawns a dunmer and another unique bruma guard along with a Brenton woman. There's also a quest also in bruma where you encounter multiple ghosts of ackivire soldiers (ik I butchered the spelling, idc) but they're hostile and im not sure if you'd count those.

I actually like the way the durability was handled here (i hate just losing the weapon when it breaks breath of the wild and totk) you can actually repair it stupid easily as long as you are out of combat and at max skill you only need one hammer on you. also if you are playing normally yes the class does matter as only the major skills will contribute to your character level , and yes Martin is voiced by sean bean Oblivion has quite an interesting voice cast. One last thing if you talked to the argonian chick you wouldve gotten feather scrolls for the quest

Doing this in Morrowing is not only possible, but the game will tell you with a popup "Bro, your progression is broken now. Load a save or have a broken save". But it lets you kill everyone, no matter how important they are to the story.

If what I've heard is correct, the Cowl of Nocturnal is the most useful item in the game for a evil character.
    Going to commit a crime?
Simply equip the cowl while stealthed, commit the crime, and run out of aggro range before removing it.
    Congratulations!
Your crime is now The Grey Fox's crime, and you don't have to worry about the guards!

Can you just imagine being someone from the provinces while this was going on? It sounds like the slaughter phase went pretty quickly here, so while everyone is still cleaning up after the chaos of the Oblivion crisis (which apparently messed up everyone who wasn't an Argonian living in Black Marsh) word gets out that the emperor is dead but the crisis is over and then...
    ...nothing.
No messengers, no traders, no instructions to imperial legions, just... nothing. The initial celebrations give way to deep unease and nervous waiting. And then the scout reports begin to come back of city after city filled with already rotten corpses culminating with the nightmare of a dead capital. The chaos after such an event would be indescribable.
Of course the Thalmor would be happy. They'd have an incredibly easy time taking over with Cyrodiil essentially annihilated.
