- VALENTINE’S SPECIAL CAKE - RED VELVET CAKE - Red Velvet Cake is one of most people’s big time favorite, I am one of them. A delightful moist and soft cake with creamy cream cheese frosting, is heavenly. I always love it with butter in it. I have decorated it with cake crumble sprinkle, just like a red velvet carpet on the surface with the heart right in the middle. Of course you can make this cake also for any other occasions or anytime at all. But because red always symbolizes a celebration, it’s best suited for occasions like Valentine’s Day, Christmas and New Year celebrations. I hope you’re inspired to make one for this season. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
I am using a 7-inch round pan
• Red Velvet Cake
90g (3/4 stick) unsalted butter (softened, not melting)
150g (3/4 cup) castor sugar
2 eggs (room temp)
160g (3/4 cup) buttermilk or (160g milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
165g (3/4 cup) vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
240g (2 cups) cake flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¾ tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
20 drips or 8g (1/2 tsp) red food coloring (or add to your desired vibrancy of the redness)
• Cream Cheese Frosting
225g (1 cup) unsalted butter
125g (1 cup) powdered sugar
300g (1 ½ cup) cream cheese
• Decorations
Red velvet cake crumble (sprinkle on top of cake)
Instructions:
• Red Velvet Cake
1. Preheat oven at 170°C/340°F.
2. In a large bowl, add butter and sugar. Mix for 3-5 minutes until creamy.
3. Add the eggs, one at a time. Mix to incorporate. Add oil and vanilla extract, mix to combine.
4. Sift all the dry ingredients. Give it a quick whisk. Add the dry ingredients into the mixture. Mix to combine. Do not over mix.
5. Add about 20 drips or 8g of food coloring. The amount is very much depending on the red you have. Add up to you desired vibrancy of the redness. Use a mixer to lightly mix it. Then switch to a spatula to do the mixing work, again because you do not want to over mix.
6. Add the food coloring into the batter. Use the mixer to mix it lightly. Switch to a spatula so that you do not over mix the batter. Add the coloring to your desired vibrancy of the redness.
7. Grease a 7-inch round pan. Line a parchment paper at the bottom.
8. Bake at preheated oven at 170°C/340°F for about 45-50 minutes.
9. Cool the cake on the cooling rack. Make sure the cake is completely cool before slicing and frosting.
• Cream Cheese Frosting
10. In a large bowl, add butter and mix until it is creamy.
11. Sift the powdered sugar in batches and add into the butter mixture. Continue mixing until creamy and fluffy.
12. In another bowl, add the cream cheese (room temp) and mix it until smooth and creamy.
13. Fold the cream cheese into the butter mixture. Mix it well and evenly.
14. Lastly, assemble the cake.
15. Sprinkle the cake crumble on top of the cake. Use a heart shape cake cutter to make a heart shape in the middle (optional). You may decorate the cake the way you want.

I swear this recipe from this channel is the best one. I have made red velvet cake from this for multiple times almost a year and the taste always great! Everyone in my family love this a lot. Btw, another tip for the recipe, I would suggest you guys to use cup measurement. That way always works for me but if in gram measurement, lessen the flour about 10g would be perfect.

Guys this recipe is good but be careful on oil, before I started making it . I read the comments and one of them said that the oil was much so I just put 1/4 of oil but it was still a lot. Wen I touch the cake I can see oil in my hands. So I would advice u put just 2-3 tsp of oil or just skip this ingredient. Since butter is in.

i agree..just made the cake.. awesome colour.. trying first time this cake but didn't go through comments before making the cake..too much oil in the recipe..be careful with measurements

I tried your frosting recipe. Loved it. I had to add 100-120g more powdered sugar to suit my taste. This exact frosting recipe was enough to fill n crumb coat 2 kgs of heart shaped sponge. Thank you and i love most of your recipes coz they don't fail me.

@@tiffanylyons8826 as less as possible u can even jump that ingredient it ain't a must as long as butter is in. I tried making it but the oil was a lot n I just added 1/4 of oil

I made a lovely red velvet cake for my daughter’s birthday and all that ate simply loved 🥰 it. A good recipe. I use slightly less than a 1/4 cup oil though. The cake is very moist and not too sweet. Thanks for sharing.👍

Hi ur channel has the best baking videos and the descriptions... . I tried this cake.. it was great, moist fluffy.. everything that has to make a cake amazing...but one isse was that my cake has cracks ... How to avoid it. Pls suggest some tips..thanks in advance .
Hi dear. My cake sometimes will crack too. In order to avoid cracking, place your cake on one rack below the middle rack. That way the upper heat will not be too direct on the cake top.
Towards half way through in the oven, if you start noticing a small crack, just lower the temperature slightly and continue baking. Sometimes, slight or small crack is absolutely normal for certain cakes. Hope this will build up your confidence in your next bake

i have try this today and apparently u dont need to reduce the oil because after freezing it will be too crusty if i reduce oil and people say that it was oily a bit but i have try it really well and of course it will be oily at first.
