I’m currently in the 30 day hair detox group, and there was a love today and Ailise (I think I spelled her name wrong lol) anyway someone asked about using Olaplex and she advised that people with natural hair shouldn’t use Olaplex. I have been doing my own research because I’ve been wondering if I will encounter the same issue with breakage. (I use to use henna, only washed my hair monthly, etc). What has me a bit on the fence is that some of the things that black girl curls puts down, makes me question if they aren’t spreading misinformation in some regards. T heir seems to be contradicting information everywhere and I’m like what is true or what’s not. I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that maybe I need to do what works for my hair, which may not line up with the 30 day hair detox 100% all the time.
Hi! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. I think you have come to the right conclusion. Some of the things that work for your hair won't always align with the 30 day hair detox. With regards to Olaplex... specifically Olaplex 3 and Olaplex 0. I did stop using them when I did the 30 day hair detox just to see if my hair needed it...after completing the detox and visiting a stylist my hair definitely needed it. I don't think they are spreading misinformation just their perspective on hair care. I know Olaplex has a lot of different products some may be better for natural hair than others. I have only tried Olaplex 0 and 3. Some stylist use the salon version of those products on natural hair. Sometimes the information on the internet around the 30 day hair detox can seem contradictory. You will probably hear " your desired result" a lot during the detox. That's where things can seem contradictory because different people will have different favorite products based on the results they want . Even Aelise and Aisha have different thoughts about products. The fundamentals are the same establishing a consistent routine...and understanding how to select stylers to achieve a result. Good luck with the detox.

Perfect place for me to chime in. Washing my hair is the most important part of my journey. Recently I had a water heater situation and could not really wash my hair. A couple of times I just rinsed my hair in cold water and restyled it with gels. My hair felt so overly coated until I got my hot water back and “washed my damn hair”.
I'm loving seeing open forum discussion and explanation of the see some curls/no oils or butters ideology.. When I try to explain the steps and techniques for my hair to folks it's always hit with much resistance and seems many are now just to a point of being stuck in their ways.. Also feel that's why this wave of going back relaxed is happening.. But thats another topic.. I mainly was thinking about the comment received and hoe the person felt that defining curls was some how associated with texurism.. And agree with your statement on it.. I don't work to define my curls, but for me, I know my hair is best hydrated when my curls are defined.. The definition being an indicator my hair is in its most hydrated state.. I notice many take bits and pieces of the concept and have run with them, not having a genuine understanding.. Its dope seeing someone speak on the full scope of the concept and its techniques and not just trying to implement into their already set regimen.. Understanding that it is a new regimen entirely, and adjusting techniques accordingly with guidance from a professional in kinky/curly hair care was absolutely the key for me..
Thank you for this video. None of the popular hair trends or advice on youtube EVER worked for me. My hair would continue to tangle and break. I just decided that no one in the world had hair like mine lol. I had given up on raw oils about 5 years ago and hated the (strong coconut) smell of most products. I started cowashing every 3 days, no styler or leave in. and washed my hair maybe every 2 months. When I found the 30 day hair detox I was sceptical but joined for 1 month. Tried it with products I already had. My hair improved in the first week. I don't do wash n go's but, i use the same CCS concept before and after any style I wear...plus now I mainly watch hair videos just for style inspiration.
I’m glad you started this channel because natural hair content is fading. I also like how genuine you come across. I started WNG because I have a shoulder repair and it’s easiest on days I’m sore. I only do twist outs when I ride my motorcycle. One year later and it’s still the best decision be it good or bad hair day
Thanks for sharing "science". I'm not sure what science those ladies are talking about. I loved your approach. I've been following the method for over a year. My hair has never been so long or well behaved. I grew up with grease (I'm 61). It took me a couple of months to get all that gunk off my strands. I too had the henna head. I just had to baby my hair until it got to a good place. Olaplex products are my friend. I don't use extra oil that's not formulated into my products. My hair last between washes without refreshing. My biggest take aways were 'wash your damn hair" and be intentional with product selection. I know exactly why I use each of my products. You're right in that you don't have to use $30 gels. My hair doesn't like ICH. My favorite combo is UFD topped with Obia Naturals custard. I also use mousse. Mousse never worked for me before the detox. My affordable go to shampoo cost about $7. My hair is in twist right now so wash and gos aren't the only style. A rod set is in my future.
I did this method for about a year and realized one day that literally both things can be true simultaneously. Just cleanse and condition often, everything else is styling preference. My hair with this method was hydrated, yet ashy. Kinda how skin would be if you didn’t lubricate it and only used aloe Vera. I now call it the hydrated but ashy method lol jk. But since adding back emollient products my hair has this juicy, supple, softness that it lacked. And I still wash twice a week. This method taught me a lot. Thanks for sharing
Generally emollient rich products are styling creams and lotions or leave in conditioner. They add some softness and shine to the hair but most have little to no hold.
I did the 30 day hair detox and my hair felt brittle and stiff so I looked at the ingredients in the products I was using and realized that all the products (shampoo, conditioner, gel) contained protein. I have low porosity hair and the protein was building up. I changed from using Innersense 1 to 2 times per week to once per month and it made all the difference in the world with my hair. I now use a moisturizing shampoo 1 to 2 times per week, clarify monthly and use Innersense monthly. My hair is on track now.
Hello I’ve been thinking about joining see some curls. Do they mention anything, or give tips for people who prefer to wash their hair in the sink instead of the shower?

What emollient products?
What emollient products?!
Generally emollient rich products are styling creams and lotions or leave in conditioner. They add some softness and shine to the hair but most have little to no hold.
@@Untwisted_hair thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I would stop trying to convince people….if they want to slap all that grease creams butters etc. then just do it.
💯
Great information!
Thank you❤️

Hi, I think there is a video of them washing kids hair in the sink, but other than that nothing else about washing in the sink
Yes. Aeliese has a video of her washing her hair in the sink in the salon and says she prefers it sometimes.
