The styling alone has all but ensured the new 2024 Lexus GX will be a hit in Australia, but launching before the Prado on which it is based, also gives it a head start. Trent Nikolic samples the new GX on-road and off, to find out whether it's as good as Aussie buyers hope it will be.

The Lexus GX will definitely be a winner
looks definitely good and very rugged love the front reminds of lx 😏
This color is bealtiful
Offroad machine l l love it
It’s not a lite hybrid or EV of any sort and that’s enough for me.❤😂
The engine sounds like a winner. Though sacrificing fuel economy to achieve it - mid to high 15L/100km - ouch! I wonder what various solutions the after-market industry will offer to address the range issue. The new Prado will have similar issues when launch since it will no longer have an OEM auxiliary fuel tank.
Thanks for the review Trent...in your opinion do I put a deposit on the base spec GX Luxury or LR Defender 110 (D300)? Appears both will be around the same $$$ when GX arrives in Oz.
Do you want LR reliability or Lexus?
Boa tarde

I don't know why they've gone for all that 4x4 stuff in the Lexus, a brand normally associated with luxury. And specifically with the knowledge that the new Prado (which looks pretty much the same as this Lexus) is a better format for the 4x4 stuff, not to mention that the Prado will be cheaper than this Lexus. Why do both vehicles covering the same ground in both. And lets face it, for the luxury consumer, how often would they want to go seriously off-road? Very puzzling.
Luxury and real 4WD capabilities don't have to be mutually exclusive. There are other luxury brands that offer both. The likes of Range Rover and Mercedes Benz. And Lexus has been offering luxury vehicles with real 4WD capabilities for decades with the LX. And all previous models of the GX had real 4WD capabilities. So the GX is not a new concept for Lexus. It's been out for decades too. It's just new to Australia.
You may be new to the GX platform. It has been around for more than 2 decades with its legendary 4x4 system.
@@new002one No, not new.
@@big5astra then you shouldn’t be puzzled. They moved 30k units per year just in the USA alone. So there is a market for it. Search for GXOR group
@@big5astra then you should not be wondering
