@@sarahmurphy8030 Well now, Sarah Murphy, you've undermined my intended reply to Peter John. The fact is this: I read that the original line was 'this is not my suitcase' but it was deemed injudicious because of the fear - not unreasonably, I would say -- that it would be seen as racial profiling. Having read that, I assumed that the change had no reference at all, which made it surreal and therefore all the funnier (you might be aware that a section of the British public loves surreal humour.) Eh, I don't know about that. There's some clearly offensive things that people cover up by calling it comedy, when the main goal is clearly to push say racist stereotypes. To be clear, I don't think this video is that.
The best bit is she looks at their table cards for where they are from before "translating" for them but when they get to the Chinese lady you know before even seeing her what Nationality she is.

WE love her in the UK, she was on her own tv show with her many characters, no one is left alone. She makes us all laugh, all races, colours and creeds. That is comedy at its best. Now she is an actor ;)
The character wasn't deliberately 'trying to cause offence'. The running joke, was that she was always offering to step in and 'help', when she didn't have a clue but thought she did. The results were always predictably disastrous. :)
How did she get away with this? Because we used to all be able to laugh at ourselves and each other before social media and the professionally offended took over the world.
