Looking at the rear and front, it looks like it comes with one of the body kits you pick out in Forza or NFS
You don't pick*
@@levs6170 Very true. Unlock it and never use
Glance at the G80-82, this thing looks like a dream.
you mean those trash body ones that dont really fit the car but are still available, that's why I like gt7, the body kits always fit
Early NFS
I honestly thought it was a purposely ugly body kit for the spy cars, oh boy did this hurt to see
Same 💀💀 i couldn't belive my eyes
i swear
So people can any car design ugly, but never seem to yell "you're ugly" to other drivers?
Beautiful Design , i love 80's Boxy Design 🔥🔥🔥
@Just A Guy In UA-cam I bet they random go around and say "your child is ugly" to other people's faces.
Bold, brave, brazen...for all the wrong reasons. AND THEY KEEP DOING IT.
I honestly can't believe what I'm witnessing.
Diversity hiring in design department.
@@teabaggins3517 What does diversity have to do with this? You either like cars or you don't. People at BMW have forgotten that cars are not just mass consumer products.
@@dimitrismantzounis4234 because you hire people based on diversity (gender, race, sexual orientation) not based on skills.
Nah I think it looks good. Very dtm inspired
@@dimitrismantzounis4234 diversity in hiring blind people to design cars
I'm not brave enough to drive current BMW's
You mean you aren't dumb enough
I like that BMW have different designs for their cars. Far too often carmakers, including BMW for some time, design their cars to look “consistent” with each other that you can’t tell it apart other than size (Kiddy, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL).
Porsche
Mercedes
yes but all bmw's look the SAME on the inside, it's why their higher end cars are a joke, copy paste interior from a 3 series to a 7 series
@@roboticvenom1935 disagree. I like the bmw interior for its utility and high build quality. Other manufacturers like Mercedes for example try to be gaudy while suffering from assembly issues in my experience. No need to overcomplicate designs
For me when I first saw the F87 M2 I made my mind up within a few seconds that I had to have it and I did couple years later. With this generation visually it doesn't hit the same. Sure it will be better than the last generation, but feel like I need to have a look in person and let it grow on me to decide to buy it.
Looks much better in black 💯
@@senoow4215 Yeah, that's how BMW are doing now. The only way to have their cars are in black, where you see less of the ugly design.
I’ll never forget when I saw an M2 for the first time, my co worker brought there’s and parked it next to my f22 and casted the biggest shadow you could imagine.
Dude, i saw the M2C and i bought it within 24 hours, no growing on me, no thinking and it works on any colour, The M2 F87 family is just stunning. This, black in a dark room or at night and it's perfect😁
@@skfunk4550 I plan on getting an M2 in Long Beach blue within in the next year hoping car market cools down and my insurance rates drop a little I cannot wait 😄
I had an E36 ///M3 in Hellrot red, and the new design reminds me a lot of my old car.
I think they took inspiration for the mew m2 from the styling of E30M3
I was going to say the same thing, but thought it was just my imagination. Yep, boxy seems to be the theme.
That’s actually a really good explanation! It is like why the grills became vertical - like the E30!
Yeah it's definitely riding the '80s into the 90s vibe. Personally I like it but that's the era that I fell in love with cars in. It seems to be the right size and right proportions for someone like me. The issue with the car is that it's an M. I am very attracted to this car though there are some things that I don't know why I don't quite like. I have to go back and revisit the normal 2 series and see if it has slightly less bulgy fenders as I see that's going to be a more viable car. At the end of the day it's an M car so it's not for everybody and will be extraordinary for better or worse. I'm finding a lot of cars grow on me after sometime and aren't nearly as offensive. One thing I don't quite understand is the need to have the entire lineup share so much language. I think Mercedes actually got super annoying when it became kind of hard to distinguish their cars. I like that the a series looks a bit different than the rest of it. I like when models can stand on their own and maybe have a few elements from other things but they don't have to be chained together but I guess that is the European way of tiering cars. You're going to have this $35,000 version or you can have this $70,000 version of the same thing. I mean I guess it's very practical but when I was younger I always thought that was very odd especially the range of the price. Then again you can look at the Renault Megan and see some true insanity.
i think thay you didn't mention the long overhang at the front- the advantage of rear wheel drive cars in comparison to front wheel drive ones.
it is apparent when we are looking at it from an angle at the front.
very nice video!
I do really like the grille treatment, with the chrome surround replaced by simple chamfers. That seems a much more appropriate way to modernize the kidney grille than by stretching it vertically, as BMW has done with so many other recent models.
yeah, I'm glad that they didn't overdone the kidney grill though
Yeah, I really like the front grille, and the front in general.
Is it only me or every time I look at the new M2, specifically the front bumper I get R34 vibes with all the square elements?
the R34 has proper proportions across the lines. this M2 is weird. however i find it way better looking than the G80/G82 3/4 series just for the smaller grill alone. but this is just me
@@zhila5958 of course the R34 is a better design
@@christianguerrier1887 agreed. it aged like fine wine!
It looks like a dodge
Nope. BMW has definitely been going for a JDM vibe, which is weird, and their 2 series is giving strong Nissan vibes.
The back looks like a 3G Scion TC.
Been waiting to hear your thoughts on this one. I cannot help but see the 2007 Dodge Calliber and that chunky design language of Dodge back then. Like somebody used a meat cleaver on the clay model and called it good.
Wow super cool video! Thanks! I like both M2s, I’ll have to drive them both to decide which to buy- either way the M2 is one of the best manual sports cars on the market.
The problem with car design these days is that the designers keep throwing aero, aero and even more aero into the design instead of design
I love how The front and the headlights are kind of inspired from the M6 ..
I just read about the new m2 and was sure you were going to release a video. I immediately opened youtube and, sure enough, you posted a video 2 minutes ago!
Can you please make a redesign?? I’ve tried redesigning it and it’s just impossible lmao.. There’s a lot worse designs in production by bmw but at least it’s not as bad as the iX
For the m 3 touring works well with the grill this m2 design will take a while getting use to
Yup, the kidneys are fine but not really fan of the box intakes for the front. Same goes for the rear end for the boxy proportions. Gonna miss the analog dash though.
Been waiting for this video. Yet again we’ve been introduced to a polarizing design from BMW
I 100% agree with you, the old design was that of a drivers car, the new is just a car.
It’s retro if your under 40 it’s probably not your thing. My hero car was an e30 m3 so this car appeals to me as it’s a modern nod to that era. Now add some m performance parts and it will be a classic. I bet they do a bigger deck lid spoiler like the e30.
this looks nothing like an e30 m3 you absolute muppet, you say retro but this is so extreme and different, having some "squares" doesn't make it retro, it literally looks nothing like the e30 m3.
been waiting for this one
Same I love his commentary and opinions on new cars
Agreeing with you in every point, except on the interior. I think the new one looks damn beautiful. Thanks so much for the video!
Agreed .
I like it too
The video I’ve been waiting for since the release
Has Japanese feel about new blocky styling motif. At first it's mixed but certainly grows on you.
Well I mean the old bmw 3.5 csl was certainly like that
For sure. I kept thinking to myself while watching this that it had a performance Toyota vibe to it.
I don't know I might be the few to say this, but I really like this new design. I am fan of the bulky boxed look. Reminds me of the old cars.
Exactly! To me it’s a reminder of the E36, a new take on that. And that makes it really nice actually.
I understand this too! I’m one of the few that appreciates the new overall design though some bits could take some getting used to.
Same here but the headlights both front and rear are ugly imo
I see that there is some link to the E30 M3's boxy fenders, but that's where the comparison ends. I don't understand what they were thinking in terms of the use of rectangles and squares on the front and rear. Poor lines, bad flow in general. It's not a successful design.
i like a lot!
Your concepts look so much better. I’d buy yours!!
A 2 series with 275 front sheesh car must be heavy if they decided that
You guessed it, over 3,800lbs!! 🤦♂️
It is completely same set up as m3/4 pretty weird.
The concept is absolutley stunning, can't say the same about the end product...
While driving my School Bus route today i saw one parked and running and was like what is that until i realized. It didn’t look bad in person just very different and aggressive.
Hoping you create another video on how'd you'd fix the design!
Yes!!!
Beautiful Design, i love everything about it, the Boxy 80's Design is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video Bembli!
It looks like a modern day version of if BMW made a small muscle car in the 70s
i think the abundance of ipad dashboard are a result (at least partly) of supply chain issues, it's way easier to get a rectangular slab of screen and implement a digital display than to create a dash that has many physical buttons and dashes. I hope in the future the ipads will go away, or at least not completely taking up the dash...
Looks more like a rally car with all the boxy shapes
I like how Lego were the consultancy firm involved with the M2
Very good analysis 👍
As an OG F87 owner since 2016 I completely agree, my "upgrade" to G87 does not seem much of an upgrade. I've already upgraded mine with camber plates, brakes etc for track days and I see no reason to waste money on a car I just don't find attractive for a few kW more. Better to add coilovers and a tune and be faster on track that the hideous G87
I honestly don’t mind the design. To me it’s a clean palette for me to work on. I think what BMW is trying to do is give each of their cars their own personality so they don’t end up like Mercedes where just about all the cars look the same. If it’s anything, this is probably the only decent looking new era BMW.
what about the M5?
Mid car enthusiast opinion
This one has the Lego personality
BMW has lost their signature design. We can cry as much as we want, this won't come back, it is what it is.
Feel like some rich kid that didn't bother at school got employed for designing at BMW without any background experiences.
almost agree with you untill that last opinion, M5 is still the best looking bmw. imo normal 3 series (not m) is still decent aswell
I recently bought a 2020 5series g30 pre facelift. I don’t like how the new versions look so I got the 2017 exterior with the updated I drive 7 interior with the digital cockpit. Best decision I ever made
Are they implementing some Polestar design language love? In particular the grill.
The X5 MSport has the same design identity. It's so nice. I really appreciate this new M2
Your design looks amazing!
I agree with every single point made in this video.
Some time later we'd all just say "this design is starting to grow on me" and I wonder if it actually would
On point. The old m2 is so beautiful 💯 the technic is so great but the optic is not what it should be. Weird good looking but not that elegance and sporty all the years before. An e30/46 is now an sporty an elegant car timeless cardesign 💜
can you do the RS3? 8V vs 8Y
i think the "pulling down" look is nice because it looks more planted. the wide body helps give it that glued to the ground look. unFORTUNATELY it doesnt look like it actually 'grips' that well based on how much they drifted it >:)
😂
I think you should do some videos on the Bangle era BMW's esp the early ones like like the pre lci e65 7 series.
Nope the pre lci e65 is still the worst looking 7 series for me until now, the G70 front definitely has ugly bits for me but not the sides and rear
The interior is almost perfect. They should've put the analog gauges from base model 3 series in it and right next to it the bigger screen. That combo would've been so well integrated and absolutely perfect.🤌
analog gauges don't make any sense, but the bmw style digita, gauges suck with the opposing rev and mph dials
@@roboticvenom1935 Why do they not make any sense?
I had an F82 M4 and that design was probably the most aggressive style to this day.
the subtle running lights just stare at you with this intense look.
the front fascia looks like you're prey being hunted.
the back gives off this extremely sporty and wide back look that makes it look planted on the ground.
the pointed mirrors compliment the aggressive lines on the side.
looking at it from the front looks like you're fixing to be attacked.
The F82 was probably the sportiest and most aggressive style. they now just look like a sad bovine waiting to get eaten by prey.
lol sorry but the new M4 looks like it would eat the F82 alive (first I didnt like the looks but now I rly think it looks awesome, but this M2 I am sure I will never like it, looks like a lego car)
@@alpha-cf2oi yeah no.
@@codylujan get glasses

I like the new M2. In my opinion it has some retro styling with the squares
it's overboard
Adding square lines doesn’t make it inherently retro
@@natebit7167 true
I know you've reviewed a couple of Audis, but I'd like to see your take on the most beautiful one: The TT RS
4:54 That's an Alfa Romeo Tonale! 😂
I want to like these new BMW designs but I just can’t bring myself to. The E and F chassis flowed so well. The F chassis’ were just sexy. Sad day :/
I think singular bazooka tailpipes, where they’re in the center of the rear diffuser/bumper, work best on high performance super cars. I know most Koenigseggs have only one exhaust pipe, and the McLaren P1 as well. It just makes those cars feel like rocket ships imo
Anyone here remember the Gran Turismo Vision GT CSL concept from a few years ago? It was rumored that we'll get a production model in 2021, and now we got this? lmao.
Coming to the streets of Toronto!
Honestly looks the best out of the new BMWs. I hate the huge grill designs. The straight lines looks like a nod to the 80s and I can appreciate the industrial look over elegance.
Dope video. 👍🏾
You know the old saying..."Give a room full of monkeys a typewriter and eventually one of them will write Shakespeare."
You should make a redesign of the BZ4X and review the new polestar 3
I think it kinda looks like a lego speed champions model
you know how lego cars become kinda boxier and more angled because they're mostly 90 degree pieces?
i like it! it looks classy as heck
Industrial designers bristling as Bembli says lamps can’t be emotional 🫥
Someone at BMW changed the imaging setting to low poly count.
The front is kinda rough, missing the old smooth design so bad
You were looking at the LCI M2. You meant the M2 competition when referring to the connected kidney grills ;)
The only opinion I care about 🤣 I’ve been waitinggg
It's funny because people have been saying this forever. Everyone made fun of the E90 but now it's a classic shape
It’s so close, soooo close, someone makes a body kit for the front and back and it’ll look so much better
Sound like another bot that complained about the big grill 4 series when it first came out
@@Mangofresh2012 imagine calling people with common sense bots💀💀💀
@@eastterminal2246 you haven’t seen it in person yet have you? Neither have I. But I am certain it will look nice. Just like the M4 everybody was trash talking it until it was seen in person in a show room then their opinion changed.
@@Mangofresh2012 it's ironic, that you and hundreds of people are saying the exact same words as you about the m4 and how they like it now.
@@Mangofresh2012 key word their is “opinion” you have yours and I have mine, move on.
If there wasn't already a prettier M2, this new one wouldn't even be that bad. Yes, it's a step back, even if the side profile is better than the old one. Not to mention the iPad interior...
but it is pretty bad.. full stop lmao
I worked as a cleaner at a BMW dealership. When they placed the new 2 series in the hall I personally thought and still think it looks beautiful. Maybe it is as most of the time a question of taste
I was waiting for that video since the first leak
It's like it's got Amazon boxes glued to the sides.
Comparing this to the new M4, i really like the Huge vertical intakes all of a sudden...
It's like the design engineers only had a straight ruler to work with.
People dont see that its supposed to look like a futuristic version of the boxy bmws from the 80s or early 90s. I like this design more than the old generation.
LOL carbon fiber roof to save 6kg after adding like 200kg
So now what's your take on the new BMW Z4? Not static at all! And another design language again… I think the front headlights are a bit bulgy (Mercedes-like) but at least the kidney grille seems well done.
i wonder if darker colors will help mute some of these design issues.
The round square body panels doesn't work for me...previous gen looks better
I was searching for this video ALL night
I really dont understand the criticism on the look and design. It looks good. Period.
This grill looks so much bether than the ones on the m3/m4.
It really is a new style of the classic BMW grills.
People complain about every model looking the same, now they complain about every model looking different...smh
I love the new ///M2
It has grown in size buh it's still 👍🏽
Someone should photoshop/edit a e36 m3 wing onto this car. I think it would fit since it has more boxier lines in the front back and rear fenders.
I am so glad that i ve decided 1.5 yrs ago to get an F87 M2C instead of waiting for the new one … best decision ever 💫
The front looks a bit like the one from the M6
I think right now BMW design is on overtime to make the 2-3 year refresh models. I expect the refreshes to at least get better cohesive design and salvage the car till the next generation where it evolves this design language to look better or throw it out with something better. I think BMW needs to fire its design team and pay what it has to get Kias design team.
It’s way better designed than the previous model.more focused & straightforward.exudes power & technology
Designed with a permanent marker and a ruler, this first sketch is the final car
it's a different direction i can appreciate that, but i'm not rushing to get one like the last M2.
I think the old M2s look better unfortunately and I don't like that this one is bigger and heavier.
Agree the side does look good but the bonnet is too big.
The back, I think that new line could actually be a very good addition, but I think they've done the bit below wrong- it should tuck in more.
the boxy and drawn out fenders are quite cool indeed. the rest is pretty katastrophic imo. front looks drawn out in 30 minutes, almost like they just skipped the final rendering to finish the design all up. not a fan
The blue M2 is not the pre facelift car, it’s the not really long built M2 LCI (facelift) but not the Competition, which has the connected black kidney grills. You can see it in the „old“ kidneys, but you can see it on the LED headlights, which the pre LCI doesn’t have.
Personally I love the design of this BM
