This, ironically enough, is that same energy that caused a rift between Lamborghini the company, and one Horacio Pagani, who in turn went on to create Pagani, and then the Zonda and Huayra afterward.
Actually it's a false equation, Enzo Ferrari did "insult" Ferruccio Lamborghini on a personal level just because Enzo was an egoistic man who didn't want to take feedbacks for a premium race car from a tractor building company's owner while in the case of Horacio Pagani, he was an employee whose ideas were ignored and rejected on an organisational level, which actually is a common act in all the companies/firms/organisations/institutions etc, and happens all the time. And it was even more clear and expected cause Pagani wanted Lamborghini to change its whole concept and base design and he wanted them to introduce carbon fibre which was actually not thought back then.

Indeed, one thing to point out is also the differences between the two Italian styling houses - Pininfarina traditionally did the Ferraris, while Bertone (or more specifically Marcello Gandini) did the Lambos. The squared wheel arch is a typical Gandini design cue, seen on a few classic Lamborghinis, and other brands whose style he influenced too, like Maserati and Citroen. Also lately, it seems Lamborghini has brought the square arch back.

i'm not certain that the story of the clutch is quite accurate, he did have clutch issues with his white car, but he was more upset about the fact that Ferrari wouldn't replace it for him, so he modified it with a clutch from one of his tractors. That very car is currently in a UK garage where the full history of where the tractor clutch came from is being investigated and clarified for historical purposes.
The version I've heard was that he was having an issue with the clutch, and after disassembly at his own shop, discovered that it was an off the shelf part that he used in his tractors. It's when he discovered that Ferrari was charging 10 times the actual cost of the part, that he confronted Enzo about it. Instead of trying to justify the cost, Ferrari instead insulted Lamborghini by alluding that that perhaps the driver was the problem, and not the part. With that... the rest is history.

Dash to axle ratio on the Ferrari Purosangue compared to the Urus makes for classier proportions. Urus suffers from the typical Audi proportions, it almost looks like a fwd based crossover while there's no mistaking the Ferrari for a fwd based vehicle. It's basically a tall 812 wagon.
Focusing exclusively on the body shape of these cars really misses over half the story of them. Lamborgheni created the 'modern' super car with the release of the Miura. Relatively light weight, with a high powered V8 transversely mounted mid-ship in the chassis. Ferrari, and no other car maker, had anything like it. Beautiful to look at, exhilarating to drive (I am told). At that point, Ferrari was half a decade behind in developing an equivalent car. And when he did, Lambo was there with the ultimate Countach.
Ferruccio was more interested in building Grand Touring cars and the Miura, according to Lamborghini history, was a project led by Gandini behind Ferruccio's back. When he saw the result, we all know what happened.
You really need to do a design comparison of the Miura and the Ford GT40. That is where Gandini got most of his styling ideas. The GT40 was essentially a Lola Mk6 reskinned.
Just saw this. You do not really analyze this right: 1) The GTO was front-engine, while Miura was mid-engine (very different distribution of parts and weight). 2) the design differences were not between Ferrari and Lambo, but between Pininfarina and Bertone (or more correctly Marcello Gandini who 'styled' both Miura and Countach. BTW- Gandini himself holds Countach is higher esteem than Miura). The Modena and Gallardo and the rest of current drivel were corporate designs and do not really matter as far as "classic" Ferrari and "classic" Lambo go.
The Lamborghini Miura is the greatest looking road sports car in history ... it is art ..... it and the 1961 Jaguar E-Type started the modern car sports car craze ......
I love the old Iambos… I dislike the new ones I mean the aventador is amazing. But when you think about it, since then there was no Progress. Dude, you left out one of the greatest Ferraris of all time; the Testarossa. The competition of the 80's was between the Lamborghini Countach, and the Ferrari Testarossa, not 288. Lamborghini's design language is more violent, while Ferrari is more like romance. Nevertheless, l have always been a Lamborghini fan.
@@yume_subset Incorrect. I remember 'driving' a testarossa on a game on a sega master system and that was definitely before 1993 haha. So just looked it up and the build years were 1984 to 1991...
@@yume_subset You sound like a child, holding a conversation with adults. Go lookup the 80's TV show Maimi Vice, and you will see a white Ferrari Tetarrosa, in all its glory. The Lamborghini Countach vs. Ferrari Tetarrosa duel was the spectacular battle of the super gods in great 80's.
Wedge design was far more of a characteristic of late 60's and 70's card design rather than of just Lamborghini's. Lamborghini was the brand which continued on with it so much so it became it's trademark design, it while others moved on
If you like Porsche and Audi then you should like Lamborghini more because Lamborghini,Porsche and Audi come under the same VW family they share tech and help each other out with things.
Comparing 250 GTO and Miura is vot very valid. The right one would be Miura and Daytona. Also the 288 GTO and Countach is not the correct one. It should be BB and Countach. Secondly Miura was never really Ferruccio’s desire. It was a side kick by his key designers and only once the car was built to a completion it got Ferruccio’s acceptance. Lamborghini design language has had three stages over the years. 1. the first cars 350 GT; 2. Miura which was an intrepretation of GT40 and 3. The 1970 Bertone futuristice wedge style which still continues. Ferrari with a history with Pininfarina and Scaglietti had for long emphasis in curvy female forms - 330/P4 being the culmination. Since around 1990s both of them have integrated detail trends into their designs. Great cars. In my eyes the best successes are 330/P4, original Dino and lately 458 Italia and on the other side 350 GT, Miura. I dont like anything Lambo did starting from Countach. They look pervert exhibionist’s cars. For driving, it is every time Porsche.
I like both Lamborghini and Ferrari, but I'd say Ferrari is more exclusive, more limited. Ferrari is also mainly a racing company, 2nd a sports car company. My fave would be Murcielago, Gallardo and Aventador for Lambo. Testarossa, F355, F430, F40 and Enzo for Ferrari. Not to mention the Porsche Carrera GT.
For me the Lambo Miura is the most beautiful road car I’ve ever seen. I love modern supercars but in 54 years none have come close to that sensuous body line, it is simply majestic, without equal. When I sketched cars on the back of school books in the early 70s it was always the Miura. Lambo wrote the book and closed it as far as I’m concerned. Ferrari racing sports cars are arguably the most beautiful ever made for example the 330 P4, 312P, 512M, IMO Ferrari own that dept.
@@fwqkaw Yes, one of my earliest recollections of the Miura, I was 5 years old and that Matchbox car I lusted after had come to life! Fabulous opening scene, one of the greatest and most beautifully filmed opening scenes to a movie ever. The music is sublime, Matt Monros famous song is just the icing on the cake 🙂🙏🏽
The actual offending conversation between Enzo and Ferruccio, and widely quoted, Ferruccio said to Enzo, "I love your cars but the shifter sticks in 2nd gear when they are cold." Enzo replied, "You don't know how to drive Ferraris. You only know how to drive tractors. Go back to your farm." This was at an Italian Government function celebrating post war entrepreneurs. BTW: Lamborghini started after WWII salvaging battle tanks and converting them into farm tracors.
Yeah, the clutches of the same but virtual Lamborghini was being charged €1000 for the same part that was on his tractors that only cost him wait for his tractor is €100 that in the clutches kept on going out to ask for a better quality clutch on his Ferrari and Enzo Ferrari just laughed at him, so what do you know you’re just a tractor mechanic in that offended him to make a better car car

"Aerodynamics is for people who don't know how to build engines" - Enzo Ferrari.
My best dream's cars are the Lamborghini "Islero" and "Marzal" prototype.
9:24 omg the cat 😸
Focusing exclusively on the body shape of these cars really misses over half the story of them. Lamborgheni created the 'modern' super car with the release of the Miura. Relatively light weight, with a high powered V8 transversely mounted mid-ship in the chassis. Ferrari, and no other car maker, had anything like it. Beautiful to look at, exhilarating to drive (I am told). At that point, Ferrari was half a decade behind in developing an equivalent car. And when he did, Lambo was there with the ultimate Countach.
This is a great video!!!!
Ferruccio was more interested in building Grand Touring cars and the Miura, according to Lamborghini history, was a project led by Gandini behind Ferruccio's back. When he saw the result, we all know what happened.
I just love the shape of the gallardo
You really need to do a design comparison of the Miura and the Ford GT40. That is where Gandini got most of his styling ideas. The GT40 was essentially a Lola Mk6 reskinned.
Such a great video, as always ❤
two of the most beautiful cars ever made
Awesome video breaking this down. Thank you.
YOU PRONOUNCE THE L's IN GALLARDO!!
Lamborghini wants to get you drunk and fool around. Ferrari wants to buy you dinner & a movie
My two favorite Ferrari designs are the the 308GTO and the F12 Berlinetta, for Lamborghini, the Countach, and Huracan
Between Lamborghini and the Ford GT40, Enzo sure had a bit of a knack for making cars that weren't Ferraris.
The power of pettiness on full display also
Pagani too
2:36: They won the 1949 how-many hours of Le Mans? 🤔🤣
Can’t wait for this movie to come out
The Miura remains the most gorgeous car ever
You're a good story teller! I enjoyed this
I used to think I was a Ferrari fan, but since their split from Pininfarina I've come to realize I'm actually a Pininfarina fan.
The highschool grad who put a tractor clutch in his cars telling off the mechanical engineering grad. I laughed out loud.
Name of the first piano pleeeese?♥️
There is a brilliant movie called "Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend"
easy way to characterise their design is to look at their logos - horse and bull
Ferrucio Lamborghini: And I took that personally
5:50 the Miura was heavily inspired by the Ford GT40
Just saw this. You do not really analyze this right: 1) The GTO was front-engine, while Miura was mid-engine (very different distribution of parts and weight). 2) the design differences were not between Ferrari and Lambo, but between Pininfarina and Bertone (or more correctly Marcello Gandini who 'styled' both Miura and Countach. BTW- Gandini himself holds Countach is higher esteem than Miura). The Modena and Gallardo and the rest of current drivel were corporate designs and do not really matter as far as "classic" Ferrari and "classic" Lambo go.
Ferrari doesn't describe their SUV as an SUV.🤣🤣🤣
The Lamborghini Miura is the greatest looking road sports car in history ... it is art ..... it and the 1961 Jaguar E-Type started the modern car sports car craze ......
Which of these 2 brand generally has the better quality?
The Huracan is a very beautiful design
Italian use family name for their company
Same with japanese using their family name.
great video
I love the old Iambos…
I dislike the new ones
I mean the aventador is amazing. But when you think about it, since then there was no Progress. Even the new countach has the Same platform as the aventador. The company makes money with nothing new.
And they profit From people who dont know anything about Cars.
They managed to make a lamborghini „a Lifestyle“ product
The huracan for example is a different sounding audi r8
If get the opportunity to get a diablo at a point of my Life
I will buy one. because thats a true lambo
Btw. I love Ferrari
Ferrari is Motorsport
Ferrari is history
Ferrari is elegance
Dude, you left out one of the greatest Ferraris of all time; the Testarossa. The competition of the 80's was between the Lamborghini Countach, and the Ferrari Testarossa, not 288.
Lamborghini's design language is more violent, while Ferrari is more like romance.
Nevertheless, l have always been a Lamborghini fan.
testa rossa came out in 1993. the countach stopped production is 1988
@@yume_subset Incorrect.
The competition of the 2000’s is also wrong. The Gallardo should’ve been compared with the F430 instead of the 360 Modena
@@yume_subset The Testarossa came out in 1984 and didn’t end production until 1996
Funnily enough, lambo tractors keep going, even the new ones. Admittedly quality lambo farm kit isn't as it should but, still stout
Can you illustrate a Urus with the a-pillar reaching the middle of the front tire as in their cars?
Wedge design was far more of a characteristic of late 60's and 70's card design rather than of just Lamborghini's. Lamborghini was the brand which continued on with it so much so it became it's trademark design, it while others moved on
Funny how lambo did the same to pagani
I'd probably have to flip a coin if the opportunity ever arose. But honestly I'm probably more of an Porsche/Audi guy.
"Probably"?
So are we going to talk about how Pagani came about in a similar way Lamborghini came about?
Lamborghinis look like an upside down deviled egg?
I like both Lamborghini and Ferrari, but I'd say Ferrari is more exclusive, more limited. Ferrari is also mainly a racing company, 2nd a sports car company. My fave would be Murcielago, Gallardo and Aventador for Lambo. Testarossa, F355, F430, F40 and Enzo for Ferrari. Not to mention the Porsche Carrera GT.
The F360 is one of the best looking ferraris ever built 😍
For me the Lambo Miura is the most beautiful road car I’ve ever seen. I love modern supercars but in 54 years none have come close to that sensuous body line, it is simply majestic, without equal. When I sketched cars on the back of school books in the early 70s it was always the Miura. Lambo wrote the book and closed it as far as I’m concerned. Ferrari racing sports cars are arguably the most beautiful ever made for example the 330 P4, 312P, 512M, IMO Ferrari own that dept.
ua-cam.com/video/KQIRbV_noi8/v-deo.html Matt Monro - On Days Like These (The Italian Job,1969) I remember a big screen film that starts like this.
Cool story but tractors aint cheap.
