The giant black square sensor glued on the center of the grille is just absurd. It’s mind boggling to me that BMW couldn’t figure out any sort of better solution to this front sensor placement. The fact that it’s also present on the new disgraceful 5 series just shows how little they give a crap.
The front ist really beautifull. I hated the circular fog light in the previous models. It looked like a foreign body in this design. The side view ist realy nice too, i like the suv coupe formfaktor. But the rear end design is out of the question. There i`m with you. The diffusor is to massiv like a bubble , the massiv vertical area with the logo - no dynamic, it looks like the BMW E83 and the spoiler looks like it was glued on later.
Bembli, if we analyze the proportions and shoulder lines from the X2, is it an Urus wannabe, with a copy/paste rear lights? All I see is a lack design cohesion and more of a: ‘what if?’ But trying too hard, maybe 2025 can bring a new chief designer with new design language that’s very much needed, I’ll say it again, they urgently need a Bangle 2.0 era, but not Bangle himself, someone with a way different feel/vision
@@amirnaim3675 Yeah, you see it on the 911 for example ❣️ If you have an icon, it's better to change only little things. And I think a brand need a identity. That all models are different is showing no identity ❕😅

I actually like this car.Unfortunately I can not afford it.I really can’t understand why there are people who don’t like it.The rear end has to do with aerodynamics also.People who criticise like this can’t enjoy the life!
To be honest BMW is leading the way when it comes to design remember the ×6 design came with a BMW and the other manufacturers couldn't wait for 5 years to have they're own..
They did a redesign of the 1st gen X2 that got rid of these weird fog lights, if I remember well. Sure it wasn’t a beauty pageant; but at least it had something different to say. For its design was more of a blend of a hot hatch proportions mixed with SUV dimensions rather than a proper SUV; it did bring something to the table average SUV’s didn’t. This new gen X2 takes a totally different stance by opting for a “regular” coupé shape. And boy do I have grip against these coupé SUVs. They all have the same design flaw: big forehead and slopping back that make most of them look like a beluga (or elephant man). This is due to the fact that they take the shape of their regular SUV sibling, cut the roof line to make them appear like a coupé and call it a day. The result is, in most cases, horrendous because the A pillar sits way higher than the B and C pillars. It’s a proportion disaster that this X2 perpetuates. Now to the design itself, I agree when you say that car these days have no emotion. At best, I’d say they look bland; and this X2 is no exception. At times, it’s even lazy. Placing the front radar right in the middle of the front grill is an eyesore. Who in his right mind would slaughter the car identity by encasing something that bulky in it? Front headlights have no personality whatsoever and the back looks like an average Kia. It’s big and flat. At least what BMW designers got right is consistency: the design is boring AF from front to end. The interior is a tad better. All manufacturers MUST get rid of tactile buttons with haptic feedback. They’re dangerous because you must remove your eyes from the road to see what you’re doing. Nothing is better than physical buttons you can toggle on the fly thanks to muscle memory. Another concern I have is these big slab of screen that they throw right in the middle of the central console. I don’t want to have a giant iPad sitting in my car; I want a screen that is integrated to cool design elements and invite me to touch. Analog gauges are now replaced by customisable screens. And there, I think manufacturers lost what makes car cool. We want noise, we want personality, we want stuff that move and click: not flat tactile surfaces that have no soul. Why not for instance combining real speed or rev counters which digits could be integrated to a digital screen background so you have the best of 2 worlds? Apologies for this long rant about poor trends in design, but this new X2 symbolises everything that is wrong in nowadays car design.
Just an opinion, I disagree with nearly every point you made. The old 2 looked like every other suv out there - Mazda and Hyundai come immediately to mind. This new iteration is stunning and I cant wait to check it out in person.
I’d say the design matches what manufacturers are selling their cars as. Disposable items. White goods. There’s literally nothing that differentiates this from a washing machine, except that the latter will last longer.
The new BMW X5 will probably be a semi truck. I can't understand why they do not make the X1 and X2 compact offroaders (like a small jeep) and than they still have enough room to go bigger with X3 to X8.
4:30 I much prefer to have each model in the line up looking different from one another vs Audi and Mercedes where they are all 98% identical in small medium and large variants. I like that this new X2 is more coupified than the prior generation. The even numbered suvs are supposed to be that. The last one looked more like the X1 in the rear where it really made no sense. Now, it's actually different.
totally agree, I def get the point of a sense of brand identity but I feel like the kidneys and (now gone but sorta there with the chevrons) halos for bmw are plenty of brand identity -- I quite like the unique spin on those key features that each model in the lineup has, though sometimes it may get a bit muddled.
I am not so pessimistic. I think the front and side profile look modern, and emotional wise at least on par with the previous X2. The only thing I think is questionable is the rear. In my opinion the rear designs of BMW's belong to the best in the industry. However with this X2 and the M2 BMW I think BMW could have done a better job.
Cant even tell you how baffled I was when i saw the rear end. Looks like a buick lmao

They are finally catching up. The new X2 M35i is their best new design
560L trunk is nuts though! That’s is 5 series touring trunk size!! 😅
Lower proportion of the rear looks like it would be a good pickup truck design
The giant black square sensor glued on the center of the grille is just absurd. It’s mind boggling to me that BMW couldn’t figure out any sort of better solution to this front sensor placement. The fact that it’s also present on the new disgraceful 5 series just shows how little they give a crap.
Im convinced someone is trying to ruin bmw from within. These designs are not only ridiculous but baffling
The front grill became a Skoda 😂😂😂
Does look better than the predecessor imo though I would always take G42 230i RWD
The new BMW lineup isn’t going to age as well as the early 2000s lineup for sure.
I'm totally agree ❣️👌🏼
It's so sad what's going on with the German car manufacturers, except Porsche ❕
Love from Berlin 🇩🇪
Ramsi 🙋🏻♂️
Sometimes, not dramatically changing design language could be a good thing
@@amirnaim3675 Yeah, you see it on the 911 for example ❣️
If you have an icon, it's better to change only little things.
And I think a brand need a identity.
That all models are different is showing no identity ❕😅
Golden era is over, and now we have the diamond era of Artdeco design from BMW. I’ll take this over previous X2, which only looks good in M Sport trim.
Audi Q3 Sportback all day over this. At least it makes my old beamer look much better.
Also I love that design of u12! Best of all new models (g60 5 series I like less, u11 also looks more simpler)
Ngl as an Audi fan I still love the old x1, one of my favourite BMWs. Beautiful design
What kind of gasoline does this take? Is it only premium?
Fire the BMW Design team and the executives that approved them.
i think the new design looks nice
bmw design has gone to shit, im so disappointed...
This handwringing about cars taking on a more "geometric industrial design look" is ridiculous. It's like complaining that car design died when Giorgietto Giugiaro introduced origami styling via the VW Golf back in the 70's because "cars are no longer sensous like the E-Type".
🙄
I LEARN FROM THE BEST...................I LEARN FROM BEMBLI AND MR FRANK STREPENSON................................THANK YOU GENTELMEN.
This bmw designer guy. Vertical grill was just a start to ruin my once favorite German automaker. This is madness. Absolute madness
As a owner of an X1 M style, 2012, I wont change for a while :))) maybe with an X5 2016/2019 ...they messed up with the cluster/dashboard. Nowadays, they put a tablet all over the place an named it a car...it is not, its a damn computer that takes away your pleasure to drive. I was thinkin that the reason is why they do all this high tech updates on cars is that you will have to a pay a monthly subscription to them to have option, vented/heated seats, ac and so on..maybe I am being wrong but...
The rear tail light shape is a miss. I think they should smooth it out and have the crooked lines hide inside the light cover.
I actually like this car.Unfortunately I can not afford it.I really can’t understand why there are people who don’t like it.The rear end has to do with aerodynamics also.People who criticise like this can’t enjoy the life!
Am a BMW die hard fan but I must confess the previous X2 like the 2series Gran coupe are hideous! imo.the 2024 X2/iX2 am Loving!.
To be honest BMW is leading the way when it comes to design remember the ×6 design came with a BMW and the other manufacturers couldn't wait for 5 years to have they're own..
The 2024 BMW X2, a car catering the taste of Chinese customers 🤓
It looks like someone's bad joke, but BMW was real about it, again. And the worst thing is that people will but this shit because of the badge only.
Its a trend thats why.
Just an opinion, I disagree with nearly every point you made. The old 2 looked like every other suv out there - Mazda and Hyundai come immediately to mind. This new iteration is stunning and I cant wait to check it out in person.
the old x2 would look awesome this the proportions of a classic sedan!
Even the new Buick Envista and Chevy Trax have a better looking 'Coupe' design. The only down side is their power and interior feel.
I’d say the design matches what manufacturers are selling their cars as. Disposable items. White goods. There’s literally nothing that differentiates this from a washing machine, except that the latter will last longer.
Do not forget to say that whole BMW X2 team got payments as nothing happened and were not sacked.
Previous X2 was one of the best design BMWs. The new one is so angular and boxy and no harmony!
The new BMW X5 will probably be a semi truck. I can't understand why they do not make the X1 and X2 compact offroaders (like a small jeep) and than they still have enough room to go bigger with X3 to X8.
I don’t hate it honestly
I was so looking forward to your review of the new x2 😂 i really like the new x5, i don’t get bmw design anymore
You're always complaining, let's see you design a car from scratch
This guy dont know what Design is ... the New BMW X2M SUV Coupe looks like cool 😎
I like it, but I’m disappointed the electric version won’t be in the US.
Could be from any carbrand, looks boring. Miss the old BMW design from the F Serie
How will this fit when Neue Klasse design gets spread out?
