I still remember Cristina being on youtube and IG during the pandemic when times were really tough in northern Italy and letting people into her life and bringing so much positivity to us. She is such a great person!
Cristina is nearly in her 50s..she is legend.. great inspiration and great influence to younger generations telling them to be theirselves, not believe in all what you see in social media and to be kind to each other. Also she loves video games 😁 Loved your analysis.
Lacuna Coil was formed in the late 90's, and I've been a fan since their big 2002 album Comalies, but I haven't seen much on them from the reaction community until recently. Andrea has always had a rich gravel to his voice, adding the false fold screams on later albums. Cristina has always been a vocal powerhouse, only improving with time.
Same here, Heavens a Lie was the song that brought me to them. Been a fan ever since. I was able to see them side stage in '09 when they typed with KsE and Chimaira. Lucky to have met both Cristina and Andrea.
Cristina is a goddess, and she and Andrea complement each other spectacularly. And they are both super down to earth peplo to boot. I randomly ran into them at Comic-Con. They were promoting a comic book they released, so I had a quick chance to chat with them. Love Lacuna Coil.
Hearing Christina and Andrea doing the classic "beauty and the beast" style of metal is so cool. And they perfect it! And they are SO humble 30 years into their career. Just saw them with my 16 year old autistic daughter. LC is one of her favorite bands. We talked to them for about a half hour after their show and they were so patient with her and made her comfortable enough to converse back. Ive seen them 3 times (once with Epica) and they get better each time. For your next Christina song, please do Apocalyptica's "SOS (Anything but Love." There is a very nice live version. Thanks for your reactions and analysis!
I've seen them live three times just by chance (twice as an opening act and once in a festival) and they are incredible. Even high quality video of live performances doesn't do Cristina justice. Her voice is so pure and powerful in person that it's honestly shocking. I've been a professional musician for 35 years and seen over a hundred bands, in multiple genres, live but she pushes Lacuna Coil into the top ten. I highly recommend going to a show to anyone who has the opportunity.
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing piece of Gothic-metal theatre. I had never heard their male co-lead singer do full on harsh vocals before, and that was awesome. And I think that Cristina can turn her contralto so sweet and also low and warm. This is a new song for me by this excellent metal band, and it maintains their fantastic output.
You have to listen to all Lacuna Coil's albums. Cristina Scabbia vocal lines she writes are incredible. Not one song is the same. She can make a terrible song sound great! She's that good! She's my favorite female singer! 👍🎸
Delirium is still one of my all-time favourite albums. They found a theme, created an atmosphere and stuck with it. All the songs, both the more heavy and the slower ones fit right into it, the whole aesthetic, the artwork of the physical album, the videos, the sound (obviously), just everything. Brilliant execution.
One thing off my bucket list seeing them live 10+ years ago after a decade of digging them. Definitely recommend seeing them live, they're even better than on record.
If you're interested in hearing more from them, here's another popular one from that same concert. Other channels (like The Charismatic Voice) have reacted to this one. I think it showcases Cristina's voice a little more than "Blood, Tears, Dust": Lacuna Coil - Swamped - Live 119 Show - 2018 - HD - ua-cam.com/video/Eycf8vli_dY/v-deo.html I haven't traditionally followed the band closely (I didn't even know they also had a male vocalist). The only song I really knew by them, until recently, was called "Our Truth" that I heard many years ago. That's also a great song and worth a reaction. I've been reintroduced to them through reaction channels lately and I'm finding that they actually have more than one good song :)
I concur on Swamped from the same show. I heard one song awhile back that I enjoyed but wasn't blown away. Then I heard a few more songs and I have become a huge fan. Really enjoy Naughty Christmas. Listen to it all the time, not jus a Christmas.
"Duet" is a concept commongly known as "a beauty and a beast" and widely used in gothic metal and black metal. It's really very cool, I'm delighted that you're enjoying it
A bulk of Lacuna Coil's songs are duets w/ Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro... Cristina does a few songs by herself. Andrea Ferro was Lacuna Coil's first lead singer when the band had a different name... he felt that his gutteral voice was limited and suggested they get a female singer to broaden their appeal ... Bassist Marco Zelati told the band his (then) girlfriend Cristina Scabbia was a singer, and they told him to bring her to rehearsals... Zelati resisted, but finally brought her in to a tryout and they loved her voice and asked her to join. Cristina recalled after Lacuna Coil had recorded an EP (around 1998?) the band split up because 3 members wanted a pop-friendly direction... she, Andrea and Zelati wanted to keep it metal... they recorded their 1st album 'In a Reverie' in 1999 w/ Chistian Migliore (guitar) and Criz Mozzati (drums) and later hired 2nd guitarist Marco 'Maus' Biazzi... After the band achieved success in 2004, eventually Migliore & Mozzati left the band in 2014, likely due to exhaustion or family life... Biazzi quit in 2015... Zelati played rhythm guitars on the newer albums before Diego Cavallotti (lead guitar) joined.
Old School Metalheads : "There's nothing new in metal... if you think there is, that's not metal" Lacuna Coil : "Here, hold this flaming marshmallow while I tear your heart out with beauty." .... or something like that. Ms Scabia (I will ALWAYS type her name wrong, and I know that's not a good thing) has a way of singing IN the metalstorm for a while, then she can soar above it (or along side) or invoke the innocence of a child, at the drop of a hat. And many kudos to the band. Their arrangements leave sonic space for the singers without dropping completely out of the picture. The choice of timbre for the guitar and bass leave that 200-800 Hz range wide open for the vocalists. Also, the drummer has tuned that kit to minimize intrusion into the upper mids. And they do all this AND keep the drive of the song alive and kicking. silhouette
I ended up getting drunk with Cristina in a local bar once after a gig, many a year ago. I somehow didn't even recognise her at first (I may have been a few beers ahead) until I heard her laugh and noticed how powerful the sound was. Wickedly funny woman, was a pleasure to chat with her.
This is a band that has become 100% better over time. I like stuff off all their albums, but I truly hope they have finally found their sound with Delirium and Black Anima and stick with it. It’s perfection.
I like the new stuff, but my favourite is Unleashed Memories. A more gothic quality and Cristina has a greater presence other than just belting out repetitive choruses.
I love your reactions lol. I can’t believe you never heard of them before! you NEED to hear more, if you haven’t already. Very talented, beautiful people. Love their music a lot a lot! it’s my kind of heaviness 🤪
Lacuna Coil is great! Saw them live about 15 years ago and they did not disappoint. You should check out Purify, Heavens a Lie, Comalies, Lost Lullaby and their cover of Enjoy the Silence.
I love your analysis and explanations of what is going on vocally. I'm surprised this particular song was suggested as an intro to Lacuna Coil; I'd recommend Heaven's A Lie or Spellbound, but that's just my $0.02.
YES! So awesome to see a reaction to this underrated band. I see them every chance I get. Would love to see your reaction to Christinas rare but beautiful breakout song with them: FALLING
Ahhhh love em'! Was in their shows before and had so much fun! Also, they just had an album where they got new versions (20 years, XX) of their Comalies album, and the comparison is great! Worth your time (e.g. try Swamped and Swamped XX in a row)
Cristina is still a vocal beast at 50, and her vocal range is extraordinary, and she gives it all on stage! She is also a survivor, and a lady who smashed the misogynistic Metal glass ceiling. Love her to bits, Metal had gone stale in the 90’s, and female leads, changed the landscape, and had to be better than male counterparts, just to survive, and then to forge a phenomenal career while inspiring the next generation of Metal ladies.
The duet with false vocals, really nice. Nightwish do it in one song with Floor doing the growling, “yours is an empty hope”. Awesome reaction, I’ll be checking out more of this band
I agree with you on this one. I liked the contrasting texture of their voices. I don't see how that guy can tear up his vocal cords like that, night after night. I hope he can still speak, a few years down the road. Nice theatrics. This would make a great Halloween show.
I love that you listen to such a variety of music. From metal bands, to Linda Ronstadt to one of my favorites, Nat King Cole. I’m wondering if you have listen to England Dan and John Ford Coley or Tommy Shaw from the band Styx. Shaw has a beautiful voice. Here’s a few songs from Shaw, ‘ Free to Love you’, ‘ Kiss me Hello ‘, ‘ Dangerous Game ‘
I know this is a year old but I don’t see anyone else mentioning it so: Cristina has NEVER had vocal lessons. That’s all her. She coaches people on the Italian version of The Voice but she’s never been formally trained in any capacity.
If you want to hone in on harsh + clean vocal layering specifically, check out pretty much anything by Ne Obliviscaris. It's their staple to have multiple layers of harsh vocals going simultaneously over a clean vocalist and yet it's all fully intelligible. Painters of the Tempest or Libera come to mind as great examples. They're an absolutely amazing band as a package.
I love how you’re getting into metal bands like Lacuna Coil. I love your reaction on Iron Maiden’s ‘ Hollow Be Thy Name ‘ … If you want to listen to an awesome rendition of that song? Listen to the rendition by Cradle of Filth. The band is goth rock, they look and sound like vampires. Concrete Blonde is another good band to listen to.
If you're digging the duet of vocal styles then try the band Ne Obliviscarus' song "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope" specifically the live in Denver video.
Wow😳 I gotta look this band up. That was insane. What a show. Back in 02, I was introduced to a band called "After Forever", Symphonic Metal with a death-growl male vocal similar to this paired with Floor Jansen - (now with Nightwish) singing lead. It was kinda cool, but these guys are way heavier and just sound so much better together. Floor Jansen sounds way better with Nightwish, btw. IMO, their music is more compatible and better suited for her voice, and really showcases her dynamic ability. They're just a better band than After Forever, but, AF introduced me to a whole new world of music. Euro metal can be so damn good.
The spiritual sucessor to After Forever is called Epica by the way:) Epica even continues some of the song series started in AF. Floor wanted to go more traditional metal, Mark Jansen wanted to lean more into the symphonic side. Now Floor is in the most well known symphonic metal band, and Mark leads the best symphonic metal band;)
Prior to be a top name in the metal scene, Cristina worked as a waitress. I ask to myself how many talents are out there that deserve a lot more, other than those annoying talent shows. Cristina is humble, loves her fanbase and I'm happy that she made it, 'cause she's got it and deserves it, though I'm not a metalhead. Cheers from Italy. Edit: you should react to Matia Bazar's "Cavallo bianco" (or "Ti sento" or "Vacanze romane", though I think that Cavallo bianco, which means "white horse" has the best that she can get), with the stunning voice of Antonella Ruggiero.
If you love this like it looks like you do, you'll love Draconian. "Rivers between us" "Moon over Sabaoth" "Sorrow of Sophia". Swedish Gothic Doom Metal. Check it out, u won't be disappointed. ✌️
I can say that this band is really really amazing, and thanks for the great reaction too❤, It would be really wonderful if you to react to Oye (Listen) by Katrina Velarde, I think you’ll like it❤
They compliment each other. Totally different approaches to singing which great. Marco writes most of the music and tends to spot light her more in the songs for obvious reasons, her incredible voice! 🎙 👍🎸
Suggestion for you, Lovely Lady with beautiful Smile: Lacuna Coil, Falling Again. This is an amazing fantastic Song, one of the greatest metal ballad ever. Incredible and unbelievable adventure.
The “beauty and the beast” style is extremely common in gothic metal, but it’s not very common for the two vocalists to actually sing at the same time. LC is fairly unique in that regard.
You definitely have to check out CADAVERIA stuff... she can jump from growl, clean and scream in a unique way. I'm loving their new song "Shamanic Path"
7:56 I was going to say "Yeah you probably heard that duet before, with Floor doing the growls and Marko the clean vocals. Yours Is An Empty Hope by Nightwish!" Checked your videos... You haven't done that one yet. xD Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/v-deo.html
I still remember Cristina being on youtube and IG during the pandemic when times were really tough in northern Italy and letting people into her life and bringing so much positivity to us. She is such a great person!

Loved your analysis.
Actually, she is 50. Was born in 1972.
This blew my mind, ive seen them live a multitude of times and would never have aged her 50’s
She is 52 as of June of this year.
She has incredible genes.
Lacuna Coil was formed in the late 90's, and I've been a fan since their big 2002 album Comalies, but I haven't seen much on them from the reaction community until recently. Watched Cristina from being a young barely 20 into a seasoned pro in her 40s in the same band.

Andrea is the only celebrity that responds to my FB messages. Super cool guy. I always ask about tour dates to stay ahead & he gives me insider info 😁
Me too. I was a big fan since Comalies around 2002. Cristina Scabbia is an amazing vocalist.
Cristina is such an amazing vocalist! I would highly recommend checking out Swamped next, I feel like you would love it.
Came here to say this. Swamped is magnificent.
There's some indefinable quality about Cristina's voice that leaves you wanting more.
Always forgetting Andreas. Creep
I’m kidding, I love her too I’m just jealous
Another of my favourite bands for 20+ years. Plus: Lacuna Coil have aged really well! 🤘🏻🖤
Hearing Christina and Andrea doing the classic "beauty and the beast" style of metal is so cool. And they perfect it!

Not only pure and powerful, but I'd say raw. She sings with her soul. I was left specheless from her live singing and stage presence.
Wow.
Reminds me of The Dream-Within Temptation
oh my wow lol
your metal journey has been an incredible throw back for me
thanks for taking the journey and sharing! :D
OMG! I forgot they existed! They were BIG in the late '90s early '00 gothic scene. :) I liked them so much.
Christina's vocals can be devastating in such a good way. The coil rocks!
Great reaction. She's got a fucken good set of pipes on her, and has been very consistent for a long time. Love ya work !
Comalies is one of my favorite albums ❤️❤️❤️
You have to listen to all Lacuna Coil's albums. Cristina Scabbia vocal lines she writes are incredible. Not one song is the same. She can make a terrible song sound great! She's that good! She's my favorite female singer! 👍🎸
One of my all time favorite bands and some of the nicest and coolest people out there. They always interact with and appreciate their fans.
I got to meet them in a fest and I was not prepared for how incredible they are with the fas. Never shocked so much in my life hahahaha
Delirium is still one of my all-time favourite albums. They found a theme, created an atmosphere and stuck with it. Oh boy. You are in for a treat! 😉
Saw Lacuna Coil live in a small venue and they are simply amazing. Try their songs “Trip the darkness” or “Our truth”
Great band, they've been around for a while now... Christina is a great singer, very emotional
Old School Metalheads : "There's nothing new in metal... if you think there is, that's not metal"
Lacuna Coil : "Here, hold this flaming marshmallow while I tear your heart out with beauty."

Black Anima goes so hard, I hope they keep with that sound
My favourite band for 20+ years. Plus: Lacuna Coil have aged really well! 🤘
As a Coiler for over 20 years, I really loved how you dissected this song.
Her voice is beautiful ❤
I love your reactions lol. I can’t believe you never heard of them before! you NEED to hear more, if you haven’t already. Very talented, beautiful people. Love their music a lot a lot! it’s my kind of heaviness 🤪
Lacuna Coil❤
Met the two of them once, very nice humble people.
I have always loved this band, their vocal combinations and the fantastic musicians. Great reaction Bethany to an amazing show.
So glad you listened to them! One of those bands that makes such an incredibly complex sound and I love getting a better idea of how Cristina does it.
This is a GOOD band indeed. I love them so much.
Great reaction Gorgeous Vocalist,
I'm going to see them on August 4th in Catania.
Been a huge fan for so long and they keep making awesome music
I'm a new fan, now metal is my favourite genre, so I can't wait to see their show this month here in Brazil 😊.
You are by far my favorite person on utube ❤❤❤❤
I live lacuna coil christina sabbia is a great lead woman for this gruop❤❤
Really appreciate and enjoy your reaction and explanations😊😊😊
I had the same reaction the 'innocent' and reverential portion. Wonderful experience and sound for those few moments.
Grazie di esistere grandissimi Lacuna coil e tu Cristina scabbia il diamante del gruppo
I'm just discovering your channel and I loved it. I've been a huge fan of Lacuna Coil for over 20 years and I really liked your reaction
I've ***ALL*** their cd...! 🧨🧨🧨💥💥🔥🔥🔥
Love your facial expression while watching, so cute 😍
YES! So awesome to see a reaction to this underrated band. I see them every chance I get. Would love to see your reaction to Christinas rare but beautiful breakout song with them: FALLING
This is a really good band.. I've been fan of them for a long time. You should check out a few other songs from them that really showcases her voice.
Prob watched this live performance a couple hundred times and still get goosebumps
Ahhhh love em'!
Was in their shows before and had so much fun!
Also, they just had an album where they got new versions (20 years, XX) of their Comalies album, and the comparison is great! Worth your time (e.g. try Swamped and Swamped XX in a row)
the crowd erupts 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Lacuna coil are awesome plan and simple \m/
From Lacuna Coil's 20th anniversary "119 Show" in London, DVD available
Grandissima Reaction..Grazie
If you like Lacuna Coil, you will fall in love with Within Temptation, Theatre Of Tragedy and maybe Cradle Of Filth and Moonspell.
I agree with you on this one. I liked the contrasting texture of their voices. I don't see how that guy can tear up his vocal cords like that, night after night. I hope he can still speak, a few years down the road. Nice theatrics. This would make a great Halloween show.
You should listen to The Promise from In This Moment. It is a duet, but ITM is normally just a female singer. That song is amazing. You will love it.
Cristina Scabbia voice is unbeliavable!
Try... enjoy the silence, end of time, trip the darkness, I like it (this one is fun)....love your chanel...love lucina coil...
If you're digging the duet of vocal styles then try the band Ne Obliviscarus' song "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope" specifically the live in Denver video.
Cristina has such a cool lower register
I recommend both Swamped and Ghost Woman and the Hunter, which are both superb...
Love thank you
I'm beginning this amazing journey 😍💕
I love anything witchy and they definitely cast a spell on you
Please do The HU - Song of Women feat. Lzzy Hale of Halestorm! The Hu are amazing and Lzzy Hale just adds to it and it is breathtaking!
Love Lacuna Coil. Personally my favorite song by them is Senzafine, an Italian song rather than English.
Yay, now for Cradle😈
She should have done _Swamped,_ from the _Vampire Bloodlines: The Masquerade_ soundtrack 👈

If you love this like it looks like you do, you'll love Draconian. "Rivers between us" "Moon over Sabaoth" "Sorrow of Sophia". Swedish Gothic Doom Metal.
Check it out, u won't be disappointed. ✌️
Please ract to "Swamped" (live, same concert).
I can say that this band is really really amazing, and thanks for the great reaction too❤, It would be really wonderful if you to react to Oye (Listen) by Katrina Velarde, I think you’ll like it❤
I want to hear Christina and Florence Welch go at it in a power duet.
I did’t know I needed it until you said it!
cristina's a natural born singer
Cristina and Andrea are perfect together......the whole band are amazing.
she's far way better than him as singer ..he's just growling; she has opera's voice
They compliment each other. Totally different approaches to singing which great. Marco writes most of the music and tends to spot light her more in the songs for obvious reasons, her incredible voice! 🎙
👍🎸
Suggestion for you, Lovely Lady with beautiful Smile: Lacuna Coil, Falling Again. This is an amazing fantastic Song, one of the greatest metal ballad ever. Incredible and unbelievable adventure.
Totally agree, Falling Again is in my top 10 ballads of all time. What a beautiful song 😭
The 119 show performance of that song is so fucking good!

Cristina is a vocal beast and the band is amazing :)
Even if it's not Lacuna Coil, you may like the melodic metal band ORKHYS :)
The “beauty and the beast” style is extremely common in gothic metal, but it’s not very common for the two vocalists to actually sing at the same time. LC is fairly unique in that regard.
Nice choice! Also, something that will blow your mind, check this > Chaney Crabb - ENTHEOS - In Purgatory (One-Take Play Through)
You definitely have to check out CADAVERIA stuff... she can jump from growl, clean and scream in a unique way. I'm loving their new song "Shamanic Path"
2:01 to 2:06 correct.
This song has math in addition to spirit.
