Exactly what I said to a buddy of mine who also likes Elizabeth's channel, just a couple of days ago: "Why the f%§k hasn't Cristina been a thing around here? Imagine them having a tea!"
I used to do PR for Century Media Records back in 05-08. I’ve met Lacuna Coil several times, hung out on their tour bus and had several drinks with them and no matter how big they grew, they always stayed so consistent in their humility and willingness to be so open with fans. They are one of the hardest working bands in the industry and only improved with time. I was at this concert and it was fantastic. It’s so nice to see you covering them finally and recognising just how talented they are.
can confirm this, me and my girlfriend hung with them numerous times over the last 10 years, they are really friendly and genuine in their positive energy. beautiful people.
You are in for a treat! Cristina is 50 years old and sounds better now than ever. You weren't kidding about "strange magic" in her voice. Her range in "Our Truth", "Layers of Time", and "Reckless" will make your skin quiver.
Hard to believe Cristina is now in her 50's but can still belt it out with the energy of someone half her age. An absolute badass, you can't help but adore her.
In additon to "Our Truth", Lacuna Coil - "To Live Is To Hide" from the EP "Unleashed Memories" also features soaring vocals by Cristina. And Andrea has clean vocals (no distortion) in that one. So if he does have scarring in his vocal cords, he's somehow also able to sing without distortion when he chooses to. "To Live Is To Hide" is perhaps within my top-3 favorite songs from Lacuna Coil.
Right? She's gotten even better with age, like a fine wine even. Timeless and still beautiful. Just like the entire band. I swear, they gained such a sharp edge over time, and have become heavier with each progressing album. It's mind blowing.
@@jeremyklekot2279 thank you, it's just something I noticed with them. They've improved their musicianship with each succeeding album, most bands age like milk, Lacuna Coil on the other hand, ages like a fine wine.
I saw Lacuna Coil open for Type O Negative in 2003. Had no clue who they were. They kicked off with this song and it’s honestly pretty rare for someone to really make me stop everything and really devote all my attention to what’s going on, but Cristina’s voice did as soon as I heard it. Glad you were finally able to check them out.
Lacuna Coil is one of those groups that just did not get the recognition they deserve. From the first moment I heard her voice I knew this was something special. Very happy to hear more will be coming!
Are you sure about that claim? They literally tour the world to packed stadia... 9 albums, You Tube videos with more than 5 million views.... The net worth of the band members is around £20,000,000. How much more recognition should a musician get in a fringe genre?
@@mrbeezkeez1599 i admit, as I get older I miss more. I haven’t heard anything on my local radio stations. I’d like to hear them more in mass media. But we’ll, we all know what the industry’s reputation is.
"Greg Roberts" I think the reason why Lacuna Coil didn't get recognition as much is because they blew up the same time when Emo Pop was getting popular along with the subculture
@@Gregory7518 Sure, but they shouldn't be compared to any appetite the mainstream media feeds for they would cease to be what they are: wishing for platinum to be as popular as carbon makes platinum worthless. When you look at Lacuna Coil's achievements in comparison to other bands of their genre and capacity - they're doing very well indeed - and rightly so.
I’ve loved Lacuna Coil for nearly 20 years, and Cristina Scabbia has long been one of the people I want to meet the most. Talented, beautiful, nearly my age, she likes video games, and is an even bigger Star Wars fan than I ever was. I’m sure I could rattle off a long list of their songs, but it’s nearly impossible to pick a bad song with Lacuna Coil.
I met her! I wish I could share pics on youtube, but they performed at a Border bookstore in Overland Park. They did an acoustic set and I dragged friends. We have a group picture with the band and I have a pic with just me and her and one of my friends. I stupidly said "you guys should totally do an acoustic album" - not knowing they already had. It's fine, because I don't think her English was very good yet.
I feel you. I saw them live as teenager at one of my first concerts (maybe even THE first) in Rome in 2000-something. Me and like maybe 500 other people, when LC where pretty newbies and this album was just out. They weren't even the main act of the night. I have nostalgia goggles of course, but It was incredible (expecially Cristina, I mean) :D Not following them much these days but I'm glad they did very well for themselves. EDIT: I had to check, it was 13 november 2002 together -with Katatonia (I think)- and Sentenced (which I think were the main act of the night). Holy crap it was almost exactly 20 years ago. I was 19 at the time :D
I said hi to her back in '06 or '07 outside a show in Ohio. I can't remember now what she even talked about, but I know she was telling stories to a small group of fans and even just talking she was captivating.
"Blood, Tears, Dust" from this same concert is stunning. I first saw Lacuna Coil in concert back in 2006. They were fantastic then and both of their voices have only improved with age. Additionally, Christina's role in bringing more women into metal, both as artists and fans, cannot be overstated. She's a legend.
The combination of Cristina's and Andrea's voice is one of the best things i've ever heard!!! They just...were created for each other and to sing together! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS!!! Lacuna Coil is definitely on my top 10!
The first time I heard this song was in 2004 as a 14 year old teenager, it was part of the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines videogame soundtrack. Great old RPG, and the song fit perfectly. Catchy and memorable, but not in a pop-way, if you know what I mean. I didn't know English language back then and could not understand the meaning, and the mood that it created was... smiling-sad, but optimistic. Haven't heard this song in years. But this particular performance, accompanied by your emotional reaction, brought goosebumps and tears to me. I have this response when I'm dealing with some exceptionally beautiful and powerful art. Thank you for this experience.
Our Truth, Closer and Heaven's A Lie are some of my favorites. Their covers of Losing My Religion and Enjoy the Silence are great as well. You just can't go wrong with Lacuna Coil🖤🖤
My favorite Cristina performances are the two songs she sings in Italian. "Comalies" and "Senzafine". The Italian language and her timbre is so musical in these two songs, it's exotic, mysterious and ethereal
She seems to be a full 5 star package, at least from what we can gather from interviews and interactions with fans. Great singer, great person, great beauty.
I do not fault you, she is absolutely one of my celebrity crushes too. Such a beautiful soul, an incredible singer and she's hot as hell! Can't believe she's in her 50's now, but can perform with the energy of someone less than half her age.
~~Heaven's A Lie~> was the first Lacuna Coil song that blessed my ears way, way back in the day. The power behind the dueted main course was enough to have it etched on my brain since that time. That incredible delivery still has me reeling from its intensity. For all of their songs, ~Lie~ has the best musical complement to Cristina's voice. It's got a sad, mad power that's both haunting and in your face. "Set me free, your heaven's a lie~".
My first intro to them was seeing their cover of _Enjoy the Silence_ on TV in Lucca. Heaven's a Lie was #2 and I think I fell in love with her immediately haha
@@Snakebloke In 2013, I was lucky enough to see them in concert at a small venue, a bar with around 200 people in it, and they rocked the place. Her voice is just as good live, as the recording studio versions.
I heard Trip The Darkness back in November-ish of 2014 (not sure where), but since then, I listen to them almost daily. One of my favorite artists of all time.
Mine was To Live is to Hide, followed by Heaven's A Lie, been my favorite song by them ever since. Got to see them in 2014, was the first concert I ever went to. I lost it when they started playing Heaven's A Lie, Still have my t-shirt from that show!
@@satayo Yeah, when ~Lie~ started playing, it was pretty fantastic. Felt great belting out the main course with the crowd. I got a shirt that night too, but I talking with my friend and wasn't paying attention. They handed me one way too small. Ugh.
This song in particular never gets old for me, first heard the song many years ago and it's the first song I ever heard from the band. They are very unique as is her voice, style and sound. I get goose bumps every time❤
You're kidding, right? You're such a lucky person to consider her a friend. She's one of the best vocalists of all-time and still sounds downright incredible even today. Their material keeps getting better and better with each progressive album too. I have zero doubt that she's every bit as down to earth as you describe too. I consider her one of my celebrity crushes, that's for sure. Truly, I hope Lacuna Coil continues kicking serious ass for decades to come.
@@DesertRainReads She is really down-to-earth and cares about her fans more than any artist I have ever seen. I met her once at a festival in my city and showed her my tattoo of the band symbol and she seemed so touched, and then months later she actually remembered meeting me when I commented on a Facebook post of hers. She streams on Twitch too now, and she's so relatable and loves gaming lol
I showed Cristina my LC tattoo (original logo in black and red on the back of my neck) and she went, "NO WAY!" and turned around, lifted up her hair and showed me that she had the same tattoo in pink (in linework)! Such a good memory. She is an absolute gem of a human being!!
Lacuna Coil and Christina introduced me to melodic metal, this lead me down a slippery slope to Nightwish, Within Temptation, Kamelot and Epica. Thanks Elizabeth for covering Swamped, this was the song that started my whole journey.
I'm so so so so excited for this!!!! More of Lacuna Coil, please!! Cristina has a magnetizing stage presence and is legendary for her going above& beyond for fans. I really hope y'all can get a tea time with her!!!
I agree, more Lacuna Coil please! Their 1998-2006 stuff (albums, EPs & singles all included) were my most favorite. Lacuna Coil - "Our Truth" and "Fragments of Faith" are a couple of the best examples I know of showcasing the TRULY AWESOME range and beauty of Cristina's voice.
About damn time you got around to this band!! All my votes on "Blood, Tears, Dust" from this same show. Cristina's vocals are stunning and Andrea's harsh vocals are NEXT LEVEL amazing. He lets his inner growler out. The sooner you react to this one the better!
Agree. On Delirium album Cristina started to sing in higher register, which is incredible. And when Andrea switched to growls instead of screamed/singing vocals, their duo became much better than through all the years before.
SHE is a ROCK GODDESS and ages like a fine wine. Lacuna Coil have been an amazing underrated band for years. I saw them in Albany NY this past April and I can tell you they are as good live as they are on record!
I am so excited to finally see Lacuna Coil featured on the channel! I remember making a post recommending them in the comments a while ago, because I just knew you'd love them too.
Lacuna Coil - "Virtual Environment", on the "Enjoy the Silence" single, is SO beautiful to listen to. If you haven't checked it out before, I very highly recommend!
The next Lacuna Coil reaction has to be their song Our Truth, Cristina goes nuts on stage with that song every single time, I highly recommend their live performance of that song from their 2006 Graspop concert, Easy to find on UA-cam, Still one of favorite Lacuna Coil performances til this day
Omg I can’t believe you haven’t reacted to Cristina(no damn H)! Long time listener, first time caller of LC. I really think you need to do a deep dive into their discography. To me Cristina kind of paved the way for woman in rock/metal. She’s a beast and the first woman on the Ozzfest tour I believe.
Cristina and Andrea have such an amazing balance of harsh and clean vocals with the amazing musicians behind them that every time I've seen them they are better than studio quality live. It's incredible.
YESSSS! I never thought you'd cover Lacuna Coil. I love that band. I used to import their CDs into the States when they first got signed to Century Media. Lacuna opened for Type O Negative in 2003 and I got to hang out with Cristina after their set. She was sooo nice and genuinely amazed that a crowd in Columbus, Ohio was singing along! She didn't realize they had a big fan base here despite the band not touring in the US.
FIRST: CRISTINA SSCABIA IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED WOMEN IN THIS WORLD. second: im from Argentina xd Me encantan tus reacciones, tus opiniones como vocal coach y siempre lo que decís es TAN CIERTO, tan sentido, te veo reaccionar y yo estoy acá teniendo la misma sensacion, la misma emoción... realmente sabes apreciar cada detalle, ME ENCANTA!!!
This is what I've been waiting for !!!! Cristina is my favorite female singer. Delirium has some of her craziest singing and you can check that out live. But once you hear Cristina's voice you can't help but to fall under her spell and be in love with her. Her voice is pure magic
Saw these guys in concert about a decade ago, and have been listening to them off and on for 20 years. They're a phenomenal band. I really love their rendition of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode. You can't go wrong with these guys.
Heaven’s A Lie got me into Lacuna Coil. Then the way Aeon & Tight Rope on the 2002 Comalies flow together and has this ethereal feel to it instantly put them on my top 5 band list.
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was the first time I heard Lacuna Coil and it was this song. That was 2004. I still play that game to this day and I always let the credits play out because it's Swamped. Beautiful end to an always enjoyable playthrough filled with awesome music because that entire game's soundtrack is perfection.
Christina Scabbia, finally! Her and Floor were my intros to metal like 20yrs ago. I was new to metal and basically did a esarch on KaZaa (remember that?) for "Gothic Metal" and the 2 first songs I ended up with were My Wings by Lacuna Coil and Leaden Legacy by After Forever, 2 great songs.
KaZaa. Man, I remember those days. My internet connection was terrible so it would take a full day to download a song. Still, it was the only way to get a hold of some obscure music, so it sometimes felt like a portal to another dimension. I believe I first heard After Forever (and Epica as well) on KaZaa.
I'm so glad you started listening to Lacuna Coil, some of my favorites are Our Truth, Heaven's a Lie, Daylight Dancer, Tight Rope, To The Edge, What I See, My Wings, they're a great band! :)
Cristina Scabbia will NEVER cease to blow my mind. The first time I heard her, I dropped what I was doing and HAD TO focus on the music. At first I thought "there's no way she can sound this good live." I was right, she sounds even better live. Lacuna Coil will always be one of my absoulte favorite bands.
I know Elizabeth was swamped with requests for Lacuna Coil, and it's great seeing them make their TCV debut! This is a situation where a live performance was absolutely the best way to go, as I feel that Lacuna Coil's live sound is superior to their studio output. Andrea in particular really seems to come alive in this setting, and Christina's vocal abilities and stage presence elevate every song. If you want to hear Christina doing something a little different, check out Ayreon's Theory of Everything album where she has a large role.
This wouldn't have been my first choice, but in retrospect, now I can't think of a better one. :) The recording was fantastic, and it was a good song to show off some of her range.
You're not wrong. I never thought they could live up to the recordings so never sought out seeing them live, until a couple of weeks ago at a festival. Now I will catch them every chance I get.
Christina has such a stunning voice. She is definitely among the best contemporary singers out there. You should check out Heaven's a Lie. Plenty of live performances to pick from.
Now youre digging in, lady. Cristina is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I've been backstage with the whole band while my friend interviewed them, and they are just incredibly lovely humans. Her voice is beautiful. And yes, "Our Truth" is amazing.
Cristina has always been on of my favorite female vocalists in metal. She's so incredibly talented, so down to earth and humble, and maybe it's just me but I find her Italian accent adds such a cool sound in the way she forms words when she's singing. She's amazing, and the way her and Andrea's voices mesh is so great. For more Lacuna Coil songs I'd recommend checking out: To The Edge, Heaven's a Lie, Our Truth, Closer, and Layers of Time (this one shows Andrea taking on screaming vocals and it's fantastic)
Wholeheartedly agree with each of your recommended tracks. If you haven't heard their "Halflife" track, from an early EP of the same name, it's excellent too, with her beautiful soothing vocals, dueling with Andrea's rapid-fire harsh vocals. It's a raw, less-produced, EP. And excellent. "Hyperfast" and "Stars", also on the same EP, are excellent as well.
It's pronounced Coma-Lies. They just re recorded Comalies with the current lineup and the title is Comalies XX. Each track has new vocals and Swamped is now Swamped XX. This release celebrates the 20 year release date. Thanks to all the Coilers who recommended this. We are all the Black Anima. 🖤🤘 Check out Layers of Time or the new version Swamped XX. And Naughty Christmas. And one final note-her stage makeup of two red scars over her eye has meaning. You should ask her.
"Layers of Time" is great, especially the chorus. Lacuna Coil - "Veneficium" is a banger as well, super heavy, and with the chorus in Latin if I recall correctly.
This was SOOOO good to finally see you enjoy Cristina and Andrea and the fabulous creative power around them: 4:16-4:48 the ALCHEMY of these two voices dawns..... 6:30 the arpeggio.... 7:27 She'll be "obsessed"... 8:14 The first yodel.... 9:40 *earns a set of eye brow raises* 11:26 a ritual? 11:48 "pure note" enjoyment Looking forward to more!
In 2004 this song came out on a game called; Vampire the Masquerade; Bloodlines on the music pack. The game at first didn't do well, there was a fan following that saved the game. Now the game has become a fan favorite, there were at least 8 songs, but above all there was swamped, and in the meantime adopted as the theme for Vampire the Masquerade. The game and song has become nearly as iconic to the Vampire crowd.😃
Finally! Also, in later albums Andrea has gone for a more harsh vocal style. And even on the re-recorded version of this album, he opts for that style. If you do another song by them, "Our Truth" is highly recommended. It helped catapult their established recognition from Comaliles, and they got more noticed here in North America.
Lacuna Coil, and this song specifically was one of the catalysts that got me into metal back in my early teen years... around about when this came out. Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Evanescence and Epica among others dragged me in with their Siren songs. This song still gives me chills 20 years later. Love it.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE BAND!!! The first metal album I ever bought was Lacuna Coil. I've met most of them. A friend of mine was able to tour with them as an opening act. I AM SO GEEKED FOR THIS!
Lacuna Coil are such a legendary band, I knew about them thanks to this song back in 2005, which is an hymn imo. Cristina is a fantastic singer and Andrea is amazing as well. And yes, Blood, Tears, Dust is omg a treat to listen to❤
This song is an absolute powerhouse masterpiece. There is so much going on, the driving beat, wonderfully heavy guitars, and near operatic layers stacked lovingly yet darkly at the same time. A dark song about overcoming obstacles and releasing a burden. Love that TCV covered this one. Brilliant, as always.
Yes! a very nice recording for this song. Swamped has a special place in my heart since it is the one that introduced me to Lacuna Coil many years ago. I'm so looking forward to seeing this reaction tomorrow! I've always thought that the combo of Cristina and Andrea as dual lead vocals gave the band something special.
Swamped was also my first introduction to Lacuna Coil. It was one of the songs licensed for use in the PC game Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (the game even had a poster of the Comalies album cover in the main character's apartment). I fell in love with the song almost immediately, and promptly went out and bought every album they had released up to that point. Of course, the game also introduced me to other artists, such as Genitorturers and Chiasm, but none of them affected me as much as LC.
@@jodonnell64 for me it was "heavens a lie" from comalies in 2002.when I first heard that song I instantly loved them.i just absolutely adore the female/male contrast.just gives the songs so much more dynamics.
WOWOWO.. Very nice .. i know Cristina .. she's a friend of my friend and i saw she one time years ago' ... heard them live a bunch of times and they're absolutely fantastic every single time ... wow love'em
Yes! So happy to see Lacuna Coil finally featured on The Charismatic Voice! Cristina is such an amazing talent and Andrea's vocals pair with hers so well. She has had raw talent from the very beginning, but with every new album release it is as if she levels up every single time. Andrea deserves credit as well, as his sound and range has evolved to be pretty impressive over time. So many great songs you could feature from them with their extensive catalog of music. If you are obsessed with her voice, a deeper cut that you would love is "Hostage to the Light". It is Cristina only, and her singing on that track will stir up emotions every single time you listen to it. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more Lacuna Coil featured on your channel in the future.
I've followed Cristina on Facebook and Twitch for a few years now, and she's definitely "chill AF" as the kids say these days 😎 relaxes in comfy sweats, has enjoyed gaming most of her life, shares her struggles and successes with personal fitness... but DAMN when she takes the stage, does the world stop and listen as she takes control! Absolutely elated that you've discovered a love for her sound, and looking forward to seeing you experience more of this god-tier group!
OMG late to the party... been busy, mentioned Lacuna Coil perhaps a year ago... so glad you finally got round to it, and actually 2 now! Sorry i dont catch you every time but binge a few weeks at a time lol.
I started listening to Lacuna Coil 20 years ago, with the Comalies album. They are one of about 5 or 6 bands that I listen to on a regular basis and Christina Scabbia's voice still gives me chills.
...kind of like the old AM-PM convenience store TV adverts from the 90s: "Too much good stuff". Except with Lacuna Coil, there is no such thing as "Too much"!
My favorite Lacuna Coil song is called "Falling" from their first release, an EP called 'In A Reverie'. This is an acoustic version that I have always felt really shows her range. Lacuna Coil later recorded this song, but changed it to "Falling Again", with the full band. This link is the live show. I always tear up when I hear this song. ua-cam.com/video/Kzfa1weGjW0/v-deo.html
Not a bad version to showcase her vocals alone. This old version is still the live version I like best. (It's old and quite hard to find!) ua-cam.com/video/ga0BZOSStbI/v-deo.html
Thank you for putting that link in, I've followed Lacuna Coil since the "Comalies" days.... they have only got better and their tour gigs are always brilliant.
Yay finally something of Lacuna, lovely band, both in music as well as the people, met them a few times and they are really fun and very kind. I love their duets, one of my favorite bands to see live as well as to play at home, my kid loves them as well! Gave Andrea a message, he will probably show this video to the rest of the band ;) So many great songs to choose... Die & Rise is great, but so is Blood, Tears, Dust. They made a very nice Christmas song as well to get you in the holiday mood :D
❤️ I'm sure that you here this a billion times, but it bares repeating. Your reactions from start to finish ,are so damn amazing and intriguing. The way your able to break down 🎶 music is just simply, so thought provoking. It's obvious that your a gifted artist! Thank you!
Comalies is my favorite album from them! I think you could literally go over each and every song on it live or not! I got chills the very first time I heard "Heaven's a Lie" but the song in another language are just as awesome!
I fell in love with this band the first time I heard Comalies, I couldnt get enough of their sound/her voice. Honestly I really hope people steer you towards their earlier material because the early stuff is where she really shines. Some of the voice gets lost in the mix of their later studio albums and they began writing more towards radio. Senzafine off of Unleashed Memories would be my recommendation. It lets you hear her voice in her native language.
@fanatic26 I 100% agree. Cristina's vocals are clearest in the mixing their first 8 years (1998-2006). Literally all of the albums, EPs, and singles from those years have so many really beautiful works of music.
Lacuna Coil - "To Live Is To Hide" is within my top-3 favorite songs from them. Her vocals soar. And Andrea's vocals are clean on that one. It's on the "Unleashed Memories" EP from early 2000s.
I can't say that I love every single Lacuna Coil song, but the ones that I do enjoy, I absolutely love and obsess over. Also, Cristina has the most amazing voice, personality and is simply one of the best humans on earth. EDIT: PS Do more Lacuna Coil! :-D
I have a collection of around 2,800 songs i listen through. Of those, comprise of well over 800 different bamds or artists. Of those at the very most is a handful i could listen to every song. Its very rare that a band or artist can make such good music always to listen to. But rather majority you pick and choose the songs you do like and add them to the collection. If someone saud they liked everything i would call them a liar. Cause in reality, most songs aren't very good at all.
I envy you in a way, discovering Cristina and Lacuna Coil for the first time.... I went down a rabbit hole with this woman and band. I got all their albums, I was listening to them constantly while walking my dog, on the way to work, on the bus etc I've never been blown away by someones voice before, but this artist managed to somehow tap into a piece of myself I didn't know existed. Every time I hear her, or they release a new song, I am just excited to see what she comes up with.... how far can she push her own voice? As a guitar player, I also like the music behind the vocals... just perfect.
You said the magic word when it comes to Lacuna Coil: consistency. All the vocals have been consistently good for the 20 or so years I've listened to the band. Their sound has changed over the years but it is consistently solid music. Amazing artists.
Lacuna Coil was a huge deal for my taste in music personally. I was big on Evanescence when Fallen came out in 2003, then in 04 i heard this really amazing song while I was playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. It was Swamped on the soundtrack. That song led me directly down a rabbit hole to Within Temptation, Nightwish, Delain, Epica, After Forever, and many more that I love to this day. For that I say, thank you Lacuna Coil.
Lacuna Coil - "Virtual Environment", on the "Enjoy the Silence" single, is also SO beautiful to listen to. If you haven't checked it out, I very highly recommend it! Very unique, orchestral-like playing on that one too.
Swamped is definitely on the top 10 songs of the Comalies album. Now seriously, "Tight Rope" is one of my favourite songs from them. You should do that one next specially cause you get two for the price of one (they re-released the whole Comalies album with new versions of the songs called Comalies XX). BTW it is read as if they were separate words Coma Lies, they did that sort of thing for a brief period (Halflife and Karmacode). Also they have one of the best covers of "Enjoy the Silence" you'll ever hear.
Thank you SO much for this video and comments, Elizabeth!
I appreciate immensely 🖤

Lacuna Coil - "Our Truth" is the best example of her SOARING vocals. The band was once known as "Ethereal" for a reason.
Obsessed since 2002 Heaven's a Lie
@@shawnannul first song that hooked my was Our Truth. Then masterpieces like Tight Rope and more recently Reckless.
Cristina Scabbia is one of fav vocalists❤
She truly doesn't age she just evolves 🐐🐐🐐
Just Saw Lacuna Coil in Manila and I dod not know she was on her 50's, always saq her like on her late 30s ... Thats impressive
Right? She's gotten even better with age, like a fine wine even. Timeless and still beautiful. Just like the entire band. I swear, they gained such a sharp edge over time, and have become heavier with each progressing album. It's mind blowing.
@@DesertRainReads I literally agree with this entire comment
@@jeremyklekot2279 thank you, it's just something I noticed with them. They've improved their musicianship with each succeeding album, most bands age like milk, Lacuna Coil on the other hand, ages like a fine wine.
@@litebotsrasch7354 She's still in her 30s. time is a lie.
Our truth. Her vocal leads on the hook are amazing
No match on the skills needed for this one.
100%
Our Truth was my introduction to the Coil... I was hooked on the spot with this one.
It was my favourtite song of Lacuna Coil, 'til I listened to House of Shame
Bro this was the first lacuna coil i heard on headbangers ball mtv2 in like 2006 lmao. A masterpiece
I saw that tour in Philly. Awesome show.
So you seen Peter Steele and Cristina on the same night?
I have to admit, I'm fucking envious of you.
ua-cam.com/video/5iP5sdWrKBo/v-deo.html one of my favourite live performances.
Haha…yeah, it was definitely a very cool show/tour with them together. One of my favs for sure.
Woow, you were in heaven that day
Lacuna Coil is one of those groups that just did not get the recognition they deserve.
Remove all the cringe induced by the other dudes, and the band will skyrocket up the ranks of fame in about 20 minutes.
20 years I feel so old…
I feel you. I saw them live as teenager at one of my first concerts (maybe even THE first) in Rome in 2000-something. Me and like maybe 500 other people, when LC where pretty newbies and this album was just out. They weren't even the main act of the night. I have nostalgia goggles of course, but It was incredible (expecially Cristina, I mean) :D
Not following them much these days but I'm glad they did very well for themselves.
EDIT: I had to check, it was 13 november 2002 together -with Katatonia (I think)- and Sentenced (which I think were the main act of the night). Holy crap it was almost exactly 20 years ago. I was 19 at the time :D
@@jimlong3223 I feel that. I suspect that the reason my musical tastes keep getting heavier and harder is to make up for my own lack of energy. :P
Big facts, yo.
I love that song so much
No damn "h," though!
2006 Karmacode tour was my first too, it was great and just like wine, better and better with time.
Came here to suggest the same song and performance.
The combination of Cristina's and Andrea's voice is one of the best things i've ever heard!!!
They just...were created for each other and to sing together! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS!!!
Lacuna Coil is definitely on my top 10!
Such a wonderful band and her voice is truly spectacular.
Same! Preach!
You have found another great rabbit hole have fun!
Our Truth, Closer and Heaven's A Lie are some of my favorites. Their covers of Losing My Religion and Enjoy the Silence are great as well. You just can't go wrong with Lacuna Coil🖤🖤
Enjoy the Silence. Best cover ever.
My favorite Cristina performances are the two songs she sings in Italian. "Comalies" and "Senzafine". The Italian language and her timbre is so musical in these two songs, it's exotic, mysterious and ethereal
I *love* Senzafine!
Not many people point this out, but I will... Cristina sings in her second language.
I imagine her Italian singing is even better than her English.
"Without Fear" from Karmacode is also in Italian with the exception of a couple of lines. It has such a beautiful sound!
Yes!! and I just discovered Cadaveria new song "La Casa dell'Anima", completely in Italian and I LOVE it. What a voice.
Those two songs are absolute FIRE, the blending of languages really elevates the songs to a higher tier.
Cristina Scabbia is my favorite female vocalist of all time. (Also had a crush on her for over 20 years, absolutely beautiful.)
it's impossible to not crush on Cristina... and then you hear her sing and the crush goes to new levels.
Omg you have to listen to Spellbound by Lacuna Coil, literally just chills listening to that song her voice is so good.
Ugh.
CRISTINA SCABBIA!!!! SO AMAZING!!!! MORE PLEASE......edit H removed ~ deepest apologies 🙂
No damn h.
Yes. Lacuna Coil - "Our Truth" next please! Best example I know of showcasing Cristina's SOARING vocals!
100%!!
This song in particular never gets old for me, first heard the song many years ago and it's the first song I ever heard from the band. They are very unique as is her voice, style and sound. I get goose bumps every time❤
Cristina is one of my good friends. She's absolutely down to earth as well as an amazing singer and performer.
🙏🏻🤘🏻💙
e gioca di ruolo e nerd... che dire signori! :D
Finally - I’ve been waiting for some Cristina! Now I just need to find a reason to skip my morning meeting so I can watch the premier. 🙂🤘🏻
I've always loved their cover of Depeche Modes "Enjoy the Silence". I'm a huge DM fan and they do take it to another level
So happy to see a feature on Cristina and Andrea
Cristina Scabbia's voice is mesmerizing. It's powerful and soothing simultaneously.
Heaven's a Lie, Our Truth, Spellbound, would all be good ones to listen too. I love Christina's voice so much.
Oh yea. Spellbound would be a great reaction to see. Also Black Anima or Veneficium.
About damn time you got around to this band!! All my votes on "Blood, Tears, Dust" from this same show. Cristina's vocals are stunning and Andrea's harsh vocals are NEXT LEVEL amazing. He lets his inner growler out. The sooner you react to this one the better!
Yeah exactly! I suggested them 2 years ago and my comment has like 760 likes and 60 comments!
Blood, Tears, Dust is my favourite LC song !
I absolutely agree and that live version is, on my opinion, much better than the original one
20 minutes of Elizabeth falling in love. YES!! I can still remember first listening to this CD and just being awestruck.
Love, love, love them! Saw them live twice, and both were phenomenal shows. "Heaven's a Lie" and "Enjoy the Silence" are both also excellent.
Lacuna Coil - "Virtual Environment", on the "Enjoy the Silence" single, is SO beautiful to listen to.
If you haven't checked it out before, I very highly recommend!
Yes "Enjoy the Silence" its always nice to se how a band handel cover materials, and yes its have to be the live video!
Lacuna Coil - Enjoy the silence LIVE @ Filagosto Festival 2017
Lacuna Coil Entwined. VERY emotional song.
Also Senzafine. Sung in Italian
Cristina has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. I could listen to her sing all day.
Elizabeth's facial expressions are just to die for, so beautiful .
So proud of our italian brothers ❤
Cristina has an amazing voice!
But also Black Anima, the darkness of Andrea’s voice and the very high notes that Cristina hits are incredible together
I literally got goosebumps at the exact same time, Lacuna Coil is so underrated and just amazing.
Same here.
Cristina is an absolute goddess. I saw LC 2 weeks ago in Melbournw and just WOW! it was nothing short of amazing
Oh yeah! Lacuna Coil! Hyped!
You could tell the quality of her voice even BEFORE she started singing, in her greeting to the crowd.
FIRST: CRISTINA SSCABIA IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED WOMEN IN THIS WORLD.
second: im from Argentina xd
This is what I've been waiting for !!!! Cristina is my favorite female singer. Delirium has some of her craziest singing and you can check that out live. But once you hear Cristina's voice you can't help but to fall under her spell and be in love with her. Her voice is pure magic
Delirium is such an amazing example of her and her abilities. Great choice.
@@BigEvil13 It really is. I mean, they have had the best. Kirsty Thirsk gave me life, and then Cristina just...slays me.
That's EXACTLY what it is a damn spell!
Saw these guys in concert about a decade ago, and have been listening to them off and on for 20 years. They're a phenomenal band. I really love their rendition of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode. You can't go wrong with these guys.
Oh My! So glad you did this... she is amazing! My fave is "Heaven's a Lie".
Heaven’s A Lie got me into Lacuna Coil. Then the way Aeon & Tight Rope on the 2002 Comalies flow together and has this ethereal feel to it instantly put them on my top 5 band list.
In this performance she sounds even better than on the album
her voice is more powerful in a theatre setting for sure, i am surprised how well this recording grabbed it
i prefer the studio version, i love it so much ! discovered while playing the video game "Masquerade" !
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was the first time I heard Lacuna Coil and it was this song. That was 2004. I still play that game to this day and I always let the credits play out because it's Swamped. Beautiful end to an always enjoyable playthrough filled with awesome music because that entire game's soundtrack is perfection.
bloodlines has swamped during the credits?? i gotta go play it now
Christina Scabbia, finally!
Cristina, she's italian, like the group, not english or american.
Damnnnn KaZaA. Good old days when braving internet was something
@@Moribax85 who said anything about her or the band being American or English?
@@pro-v7500 Christina is not an Italian name
I'm so glad you started listening to Lacuna Coil, some of my favorites are Our Truth, Heaven's a Lie, Daylight Dancer, Tight Rope, To The Edge, What I See, My Wings, they're a great band! :)
This song always gives me goosebumps, that's increased tenfold in live versions
"...SWAMPED with requests for Lacuna Coil..." Heh, I see what you did there!
@@SonicImmersion_ LOL. Thank you. Not my best work, but a solid shot!
You're not wrong. I never thought they could live up to the recordings so never sought out seeing them live, until a couple of weeks ago at a festival. Now I will catch them every chance I get.
Yesss! Christina's voice is so pleasantly haunting and I've been a fan since "Our Truth". Gothic groove metal at its finest!
I love Lacuna Coil! I’ve always heard Arabic undertones to her vocals. You may hear that in, “Our Truth.”
It’s incredible how her voice has stayed this good for all this time, great band.
Cristina has said before that she doesn't smoke and barely drinks to look a after her voice, that probably why it's still so 👌👌👌
It's pronounced Coma-Lies. They just re recorded Comalies with the current lineup and the title is Comalies XX. Each track has new vocals and Swamped is now Swamped XX.
This release celebrates the 20 year release date. Thanks to all the Coilers who recommended this. We are all the Black Anima. 🖤🤘
Check out Layers of Time or the new version Swamped XX. And Naughty Christmas.
And one final note-her stage makeup of two red scars over her eye has meaning. You should ask her.
Seconded!
"Layers of Time" is great, especially the chorus. Lacuna Coil - "Veneficium" is a banger as well, super heavy, and with the chorus in Latin if I recall correctly.
This was SOOOO good to finally see you enjoy Cristina and Andrea and the fabulous creative power around them:
4:16-4:48 the ALCHEMY of these two voices dawns.....
6:30 the arpeggio....
7:27 She'll be "obsessed"...
8:14 The first yodel....
9:40 *earns a set of eye brow raises*
11:26 a ritual?
11:48 "pure note" enjoyment
Looking forward to more!
My favorite band. Cristina is one of my favorite people. She’s wonderful.
Love it.
I follow you religiously and I want you to front a metal band! I really want that in my life and I didn't know I needed it.
I love that you reacted to this. Super under-rated band. They're amazing live and on record and not enough people appreciate how talented they are.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE BAND!!! The first metal album I ever bought was Lacuna Coil. I've met most of them. A friend of mine was able to tour with them as an opening act. I AM SO GEEKED FOR THIS!
Just saw them live a few months ago. They’re still kicking all the ass.
@@TheComicBookJoker I definitely need to see them again soon.

Lacuna Coil are such a legendary band, I knew about them thanks to this song back in 2005, which is an hymn imo. Cristina is a fantastic singer and Andrea is amazing as well. And yes, Blood, Tears, Dust is omg a treat to listen to❤
Yes for Blood, Tears, Dust!!!
YES!!! More Lacuna Coil would be appreciated. Ive seen them live twice, and Christina Scabbia's vocals are absolutely incredible.
Who is Tcv?
Yes! a very nice recording for this song. Swamped has a special place in my heart since it is the one that introduced me to Lacuna Coil many years ago. I'm so looking forward to seeing this reaction tomorrow! I've always thought that the combo of Cristina and Andrea as dual lead vocals gave the band something special.
@chris...I feel the same way.angel/devil
Their earlier stuff from 1998 - 2006 is absolutely excellent as well. EPs and singles included. Lacuna Coil: so much good stuff.
...kind of like the old AM-PM convenience store TV adverts from the 90s: "Too much good stuff".
Except with Lacuna Coil, there is no such thing as "Too much"!
Exactly same here I stated following Lacuna Coil after Comalies aswell.
For me it was Vampire masquerade bloodlines. It was in the game.
you've already made my Monday and it hasnt even started yet
My favorite Lacuna Coil song is called "Falling" from their first release, an EP called 'In A Reverie'. This is an acoustic version that I have always felt really shows her range. Lacuna Coil later recorded this song, but changed it to "Falling Again", with the full band. This link is the live show. I always tear up when I hear this song. ua-cam.com/video/Kzfa1weGjW0/v-deo.html
I had completely forgotten about that song, but it turns out I can still play it from memory 💚
Not a bad version to showcase her vocals alone. This old version is still the live version I like best. (It's old and quite hard to find!)

Gave Andrea a message, he will probably show this video to the rest of the band ;)
So many great songs to choose...
I never understood the lyrics myself but I always thought how beautiful that song was as are every song on the Comalies album
I got all their albums, I was listening to them constantly while walking my dog, on the way to work, on the bus etc
I've never been blown away by someones voice before, but this artist managed to somehow tap into a piece of myself I didn't know existed.
I had a similar experience! Lacuna Coil in my teens led me into all these amazing bands that I still listen to 20 years later.
I love how excited you get when you hear something that truly delights you! That little squeak was adorable!
Their cover of Enjoy the Silence is amazing, too!! One of my favourite female voices in rock, for sure
Lacuna Coil - "Virtual Environment", on the "Enjoy the Silence" single, is also SO beautiful to listen to.
If you haven't checked it out, I very highly recommend it! Very unique, orchestral-like playing on that one too.
They age like fine wine, the older they are, the better they get. One of my favorite bands.
Christina 😍
I knew as soon as I saw the title Elizabeth was going to be completely obsessed with this band for a while.
