Heaven's a Lie was my first Lacuna Coil song. I fell in love and had to have the albums right then but as a huge Depeche Mode fan...I can tell you that their cover of Enjoy the Silence is the greatest DM cover I've ever heard and there are a lot of really great ones but Cristina's voice is just so beautiful!
Yesss! Please do an interview ("tea time") with Elizabeth! Lacuna Coil has been my favorite band ever since I first heard it on a Polish metal station in 2004. I'm stateside, in the U.S., but was searching for new (to me) & better metal than I was hearing on U.S. rock stations. So on that Polish metal station I first heard "Swamped". It blew me away! Within a few weeks of that, I bought each of Lacuna Coil's albums, EPs, and Singles released up to that point. I had to import some of the CDs back then. I've introduced your music to many family, friends, coworkers, etc. over the 19 years since! Nearly everyone has been blown away by how amazing your band's music sounds. The band members' skill at your live shows is very, very good too. It's relatively rare to see a band where their live performances are on par with, or even better than, the studio recordings. That shows serious skill and your band definitely has that! Definitely, keep on rockin, for the fans! 🤘
Hey Cristina. A couple of fun facts… I will turn 70 this year, so I am guessing I am at the upper fringe of your fan base. Also, weirdly, I discovered LC many years ago as a chance byproduct of Google search for information about a “lacune” found in an MRI of my brain. A happy accident, for sure! I have always enjoyed LC’s music, but Elizabeth’s analysis takes it to a much deeper level. Well done.

100% agree on "Our Truth"! In slightly earlier work too, Cristina did some similar vocal soaring in "To Live Is To Hide" from the Unleashed Memories EP.
"Our Truth" was the first song I ever heard by Lacuna Coil and got me into them. It's also the reason I bought my first 7-string guitar! I had to learn how to play it!
I completely agree, the first time I heard Our Truth I bought tickets to their tour and a copy of the album within a week. After nine of their gigs I have never been disappointed
When I discovered Lacuna Coil I was captured by the contrast of the male vs. female vocals. Sometimes it feels Angelic vs. Demonic. Other times it's a beautiful Day meets Night as Sunsets and Sunrises. I'm hooked, I really enjoy everything about this band. Oh and the instrumentals are top shelf. More LC please!
I'm italian and Lacuna Coil was one of the first band I saw in concert when I was just fifteen! Cristina's voice it's amazing! Nice to see you like them so much 🤘😁
I have to say "Senzafine" is probably one of my favorites. It is in Italian and it's beautiful. The words are intricately woven with the melody and Cristina's And Andrea's voices. I remember they played it acoustically at one of the concerts I attended. That acoustic set was everything. It made things more intimate, as if they bared part of their soul with the audience. I have been a fan since "Comalies." I have seen them live a few times, and they do not disappoint. They are very down to earth. If you have not listened to "Comalies XX" please do! It's a beautiful surprise and treat to hear some of the favorites reimagined. It is a very refreshing reminder why we have come to love this band as much as we have. ♡

Edit: When you mentioned "cast a spell" at the end it reminded me of their song Spellbound. Alot of great songs from this band, Our Truth, Spellbound, Closer, the Acoustic versions of Heaven's a Lie and Senzafine from a live recording at WAAF (a now defunct radio station out of Boston, MA), I Like It, The Ghost Woman and The Hunter, Stars, When a Dead Man Walks, and awesome covers like Losing my Religion and Enjoy the Silence.
@@GrumpyGamer28 didn't know about that one but I grew up listening to WAAF living in central MA. A shame what happened to the station, got replaced by some religious music station now. I first found this band through their cover of Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the silence'. Little did I know then what a rabbit hole I would end up going down, but I loved every minute of it. Cristina's voice is enchanting, enthralling even. The depth of the music behind her only amplifies the effect.

If there is one Lacuna Coil song that I will never, ever get sick of, it's The Ghost Woman and the Hunter. Gets me right in the heart. Every. Single. Time. ❤️
For some reason, that song always puts tears in my eyes. Cristina taps into some amazing emotionality in her tone for that track. Especially when you read the lyrics, understand the story, and hear her sing it. The tale is heart wrenching and beautiful.
Loved your reaction Elizabeth. Lacuna Coil was one of the bands that got me into symphonic metal some years ago and they still hit me hard, especially Cristina's vocals.
I love this band . I've seen them live and they are Fabulous. I love the song she did with Megadeth too. If you get a chance to see them live you will not regret it at all .
The song the introduced me to them back in the 00's! You should TOTALLY do a tea time interview with Cristina, when she's not doing music she games on Twitch, I'm sure she will feel right at home with your format of interview.
Such a great song and a fantastic showcase for Cristina's low notes. I absolutely adore those. Would love to see your take on some of their more recent stuff which tends to get quite heavy. *Blood, Tears, Dust* would be my recommendation. There's a great recording from their London show you used for your Swamped reaction.
Thank you for reminding me of this gorgeous song!! Just took me back like 20years to "Swamped" the first track I heard by them 💗🔥 They're incredible for switching between passionate and ethereal
Love Lacuna Coil 💗 I think their style encourages other bands to be good in the same genre . Save me. , When a dead man walks , entwined , Spellbound , heaven's a lie , those are just a few songs that are amazing 🤩 👍🤘🎧💯 and a 🌹 for you Nebulana
I heard this song when it was released and instantly fell in love with the band. Been a fan since that day. Its fun to see someone discover them for the first time.
I LOVE LACUNA COIL My favorite band and Cristina is my favorite singer. Something you mentioned in the video, which is probably the reason I love this band so much, a lot of Cristinas singing is layered with different harmonies if you listen closely. Many times there is her high singing voice and then in the background is a lower pitched harmony. It always sounds so incredible
Love Lacuna Coil. Consistently brilliant every time I see them live. I was very lucky to see them in the early 00's in UK when they did an acoustic set in the middle of their set. Amazing. I always assumed the mispronunciation of "wit' your love" was due to them signing in their second language, and this song is 20 years old now! My favourites for Cristina's vocal performances will always be "Hostage to the Light" and "Cybersleep" from their 2014 album Broken Crown Halo. Incredible performances, always raises the hairs on my neck 🖤
Lacuna Coil are like one of my all time favourite bands, saw Christina unplugged in Glasgow singing Aeon and she moved me to tears. The band have evolved over the years and it’s why they stay so awesome.
I've loved Lacuna Coil since I first heard them. I've had the pleasure of meeting them and they're absolutely wonderful people ontop of phenomenal musicians
Blood, Tears, Dust from Delirium First time I heard it I couldn’t believe it was the same Lacuna Coil I had listened to before. The vocals were on a completely better level than their previous work and it shows how they grew as artists.
Christina plays the role as “The Mother” on Arjen Lucasson’s album Areyon The Theory of Everything. She sings so gorgeous! Another Star studded album jam packed with many familiar singers known in the Areyon Universe.
YES!!!!! so excited!! Elizabeth, you would *love* the live version of Falling from the same show as your Swamped reaction was from. Cristina is singing while suspended in mid air :D I highly recommend Our Truth, Upsidedown, Reckless, Trip the Darkness and Delirium for their newer music.
I LOVE that youre in love with one of my favorite bands. And Cristina, she is one of the most down to earth and genuine people you could have tea with. Look fwd to that interview
I repeatedly find myself coming back to watch these analysis of Lacuna Coil. I know I can listen to the songs uninterrupted by myself... but seeing the joy on your face in the same spots that hit me is so much fun!
Amazing live. Saw them on their first STOP in the US this year in Harrisburg PA. I found Lacuna Coil about 2 years ago and listen to them all the time now. The venue was very small and I was about 15 feet from the stage. I was blown away. They are as good live as they are on the studio recordings. Please keep digging into their music You will not be disappointed. Please do a Tea Time with her.
I like to watch reaction videos.....I come back to yours because I love the way you go back and revisit your your initial experience to your first when checking out something you haven't been exposed to. awesome
This is the song that got me into LC. The meaning was clear to me and definitely struck a chord with my angsty preteen self. Such a great band! Cristina is hands down my favorite female metal vocalist
I love how you've been digging into Lacuna Coil! I've loved them since the very beginning. My solid recommendation for an awesome LC tune would have to be Our Truth.
When you mentioned an 80s era, I immediately thought of Madonna. The way Cristina sings “know” strikes me so similar in the way Madonna would also sing “know” in some of her songs.
@@MrsPostal83 you don’t have to get triggered over someone correcting you on the internet. I was just telling you it came out in 2002, which is 21 years not 25. Calm down.
It turned 20 a few months ago, which is why Comalies XX came out this past October to coincide with that. It’s still wild that it’s two decades old now, though, no doubt about it.
The 1998-2006 era of Lacuna Coil is the best with Karmacode being the high water mark. A great video to react to for its sheer energy and storytelling is "Nothing Stands in Our Way"
I remember listening to tracks from 'In a reverie' back in -98, but I can for the life of me not remember what site it was. It must've been before MySpace. Bands had their own pages where you could listen to samples, and 'Falling Again' became an instant favourite.
Duuuuuuude yes!!! I fell in love with this band over 2 decades ago when I just happened to catch them at an Ozzfest here in Indianapolis. Been hooked ever since. So happy to join you in listening!
All these throwbacks to my teenage years... Lacuna Coil, Korn, Deftones. I'd be thrilled to see you do a reaction to one of my favorite bands of the era, Stabbing Westward. One of the most underrated bands in my opinion!
I was lucky enough years ago to see Lacuna Coil live in Milwaukee before they got as big as they are now when they toured Megadeth. I didn't even know they existed until that moment. After their set, Cristina thanked Dave for the opportunity to join the tour and the crowd for the amazing support they showed. I honestly can not wait for the opportunity to see them play live again. Definitely one of the better live bands that I've seen.
Definitely my favorite LC tune. Thank you for the amazing analysis on so many great songs, so much insight... Don't change a thing Elizabeth, keep doing you.
One of the most fav female vocals that ever heard, you took me back 21 years snce the 1st time i listen to this song and it stayed on shuffle for more than a week
I don't understand why these channels can't first listen once all the way through, then go back and replay and stop 500 times. The great thing about this band is they sound amazing just the right amount of heavy and melodic with killer vocals. I love how some songs christina sings verses and then others andrea does and flip around chorus as well. Pretty cool. Their sound never gets old.
Lacuna Coil is amazing, Cristina's singing is Angelic 😇 💖. Some other personal favorites are "Spellbound", "End of Time", "Trip the Darkness" and "Layers of Time".
How can I get you interested in Chris Harms and Lord of the Lost? send them to the ESC? Oh wait, that is also happening after they released an album that reached #1 in the charts with 6 days between announcement and release... A band that has been personally invited the second time now to open for Iron Maiden must be doing something interesting right. Suggestion: Blood and Glitter.
I concur! Born With A Broken Heart from Sinister Summer Breeze live stream would be another good choice! Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/Oh7vVGd-2Cw/v-deo.html
Ethereal was the word I felt best fit her voice. Ethereal and Gothic. She takes me to a dreamy place when she lets a note carry on 😍 I remember this song debuted on the reboot of Headbangers Ball on MTV and it just stuck with me for weeks. They made an instant fan out of me.
Ethereal was their band name before Lacuna Coil! Apparently they only dropped it because some other band of the same name already had a record deal. But yes, "Ethereal" is perhaps still the best way to describe their music!
Comalies was their breakout album and has lots of great songs. i mean i have UNSPOKEN tattooed on my forearm together with the LC logo. Lost Lullaby will also be a fave of mine forever. so many great songs throughout their ongoing career. Half Life, Hyperfast, To Myself I Turned, Cold, Falling, Within Me, No Need to Explain, This is my Dream (still their best i think), Spellbound, Wike Awake (maybe the most impressive of Cristinas singing) Purify (soooo effing good) i remember when i first heard them, a german metal show on a music station (not MTV but a german one called VIVA) had a report on a Moonspell Live concert in spain and Lacuna Coil were the support band, they showed like 2 songs from their set when they only had their debut ep out at that time and i immediatly fell in love. Met the band twice in their early days, genuinly nice people.
Lacuna Coil has been one of my favorite bands for over 20 years. I’ve recommended you checking them out a few times over the last year or so and glad you finally did.
Every time I see one of these videos, I think "about time". I'm just glad you've been looking into everything. I hope you just grow even more. You're great.
Great review! This was the song that got me into Lacuna Coil way back when. I want to recommend you check out Gojira - "L'Enfant Sauvage." One of the most unique and powerful vocalists in metal. Joe's gifted at doing harsh vocals with something like actual pitch and tone.
I just love early Lacuna Coil. Probably my favourite song from this era is Senzafine. Christina and Andrea's voices work so well together and there is just something more authentic about a song performed in the singer's native language.
There are so many great songs to choose from! One Cold Day, Falling Again, To The Edge, Apocalypse, Intoxicated, Veneficium, etc... Once you get a taste, you just can't stop!
I agree with your recommendations! I would also add, "Halflife", "Hyperfast", "Stars", "Un Fantasma Tra Noi" (such a beautiful instrumental), "Virtual Environment" (almost Celtic-like metal in that one) "To Live Is To Hide", (Cristina's powerhouse soaring vocals), "Daylight Dancer" (original 2002 version), "In A Reverie", and the list "goes on and on and on"!
Saw Lacuna Coil a very long time ago in a small venue in Cardiff, Wales. Remember it being the first show I went to alone and it being totally amazing. Will always remember that show like it was yesterday 🖤 love this band
Go after their live shows, they are high quality video/audio and Lacuna are always fun on stage! I will repeat my last comment on their Comalies song you checked not long ago - review that one (so you have it fresh in your mind) and then react to the new one (Comalies XX) right after! it's a very interesting "contrast". Overall, the live shows (like the 119 show in London ) are absolutely great!
I can't get over how our dear Host (IIRC very similarly aged as me) is on a journey through literally my playlist from my youth, and I get to obsess about songs and bands all over again! :D
Like many others, "Heaven's A Lie" was my first introduction to Lacuna Coil and the awesomeness of Cristina Scabbia's voice. Since then, they've only gotten better, and I recommend "Our Truth" as your next analysis (though "Fragile" from the same album, _Karmacode_ , would also be a good choice).
While I don't know much about music or singing, I still enjoy this channel mostly because I get to see the reaction to discovering great bands that I discovered, often many years ago like lacuna coil.
There's a rare gem by LC that's a b-side from the album previous to this called "Lost Lullaby" that has both incredible lyrics and is probably still my favorite vocal performance by her. I wholly recommend that one. Actually funny story about "Heavens a Lie" for me. I actually sent them an email probably back in early 2003 because there are mutliple versions of the video for this song and I wanted to know the story behind it and so I asked why they shot two different videos and Cristina replied to it saying "Sure no problem. There's actually 3 different versions." Not sure why I laughed so hard when I read that, I guess it was the matter of factness in it. Anyways, while this is the best shot of the videos, the first one they did which was super low budget, and kind of romantic horror themed (if that's even a thing, I just don't know how else to describe it) is my favorite, because its just plain fun.
Awwww what a beautiful surprise! Thank you so much, you are the sweetest 🖤

My favorite band and Cristina is my favorite singer.
One of my alltime favorite bands! Tea time with Cristina would be a dream! I love you and i love them !!
Lacuna Coil are like one of my all time favourite bands, saw Christina unplugged in Glasgow singing Aeon and she moved me to tears. The band have evolved over the years and it’s why they stay so awesome.
Love love Cristina. Lacuna Coil is one of my absolute biggest inspirations. And she’s an absolute sweetheart. The entire band is amazing
I'm so excited for this!
Me toooo!
I've loved Lacuna Coil since I first heard them. I've had the pleasure of meeting them and they're absolutely wonderful people ontop of phenomenal musicians
Blood, Tears, Dust from Delirium
First time I heard it I couldn’t believe it was the same Lacuna Coil I had listened to before. The vocals were on a completely better level than their previous work and it shows how they grew as artists.
Right! Completely different level of singing!
My fav song of theirs.
Cristina is singing while suspended in mid air :D
I highly recommend Our Truth, Upsidedown, Reckless, Trip the Darkness and Delirium for their newer music.
I second Lacuna Coil - "Our Truth". Cristina's voice SOARS! So beautifully!
I LOVE that youre in love with one of my favorite bands. And Cristina, she is one of the most down to earth and genuine people you could have tea with. Look fwd to that interview
In a Reverie was my first album from LC. Falling again, the voice caused goosebumps.
Got the same Album in first, with the EP at the same time with "Falling" 's first iteration in it.
The two tones of his and her voice is amazing. The contrast is.....well....amazing.
Happy to see you reacting to LC again Elizabeth! Looking forward to "Our Truth", "I´m Not Afraid" or "Daylight Dancer" in the future. ❤
"Daylight Dancer", original studio version from 2002, has long been one of my very favorite songs from Lacuna Coil!
@@SonicImmersion_ badass song no doubt!
And she sounds even better live. I’ve had the good fortune to see them perform live a couple of times, and they’re outstanding.
You know what I like about your channel? You point out things I've missed in songs I've listened to for years.
Lacuna Coil - Blood Tears Dust. Cristina's voice is really special in this one !!
When you mentioned an 80s era, I immediately thought of Madonna. The way Cristina sings “know” strikes me so similar in the way Madonna would also sing “know” in some of her songs.
Hard to believe this is over 25 years old, I love them so much
2002, not 25 years
@@MrsPostal83 you don’t have to get triggered over someone correcting you on the internet. I was just telling you it came out in 2002, which is 21 years not 25. Calm down.
It turned 20 a few months ago, which is why Comalies XX came out this past October to coincide with that.
It’s still wild that it’s two decades old now, though, no doubt about it.
@@TheComicBookJoker right I know I saw them in Tampa in 2003 ,it is insane lol
Brilliant. Lacuna Coil really is magical.
The 1998-2006 era of Lacuna Coil is the best with Karmacode being the high water mark. A great video to react to for its sheer energy and storytelling is "Nothing Stands in Our Way"
Comalies destroys Karmacode IMO
I remember listening to tracks from 'In a reverie' back in -98, but I can for the life of me not remember what site it was. It must've been before MySpace. Bands had their own pages where you could listen to samples, and 'Falling Again' became an instant favourite.

I still listen to their album Unleashed Memories once every week, It's timeless
Their voices complement each other so well. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with this band.
Love Lacuna Coil and Christina's voice!! ♥♥♥
Duuuuuuude yes!!! I fell in love with this band over 2 decades ago when I just happened to catch them at an Ozzfest here in Indianapolis. Been hooked ever since. So happy to join you in listening!
Cristina and Elizabeth, we love you! ♥
Her duet with Dave on A Tout le Monde is pretty cool
Ahh. Milwaukee. I miss The Rave/Eagles Ballroom. Saw Lacuna there 2x. Opening for Type O and again opening for Cradle of Filth.
Definitely my favorite LC tune. Thank you for the amazing analysis on so many great songs, so much insight... Don't change a thing Elizabeth, keep doing you.
One of the best and most unique voices on the planet, in my opinion. Love her! ❤
Totally agree. One of the greatest female singers of all time in my opinion.
One of the most fav female vocals that ever heard, you took me back 21 years snce the 1st time i listen to this song and it stayed on shuffle for more than a week
I got to see them in 2019... they are incredible live
"Layers of Time" kicks! So does "Veneficium" from the same album. She sings much of that songin Latin, I recall.
I was mesmorized when I heard this song when I saw this band at a concert. A gorgeous song to listen to.
I certainly support that suggestion, even if I consider Blood and Glitter not even LOTL's best song/album! 🤘🏻🖤 From Germany
@@jo_g.germany opinions and tastes differ. But there is no doubt that vocally B&G showcases all of Chris. 🙂
I concur! Born With A Broken Heart from Sinister Summer Breeze live stream would be another good choice! Here's the link:

OMG LOTL is so boring 😴😴😴😴
@@regor5150 Are you trying to end up on LOTL merch? 😂
I love her voice too. So fun seeing you fall in love with her vocals!
@@SonicImmersion_ That's a cool factoid. Thank you!
That is the perfect word for it. Her voice feels almost unreal at times, like that couldn't possibly come from a person.
I absolutely love your facial expressions! You don't just listen and hear the music, you feel every note
One of my all time favorites. You simply can't go wrong with any of their tunes. They're all amazing!
Woohoo! One of the first songs I ever heard from them. You’ll get a younger version of them this time, but they’ve all aged like fine wine.
So glad you did this song - my fave Lacuna Coil song ever!
Comalies was their breakout album and has lots of great songs. i mean i have UNSPOKEN tattooed on my forearm together with the LC logo.
Lost Lullaby will also be a fave of mine forever. so many great songs throughout their ongoing career.
Half Life, Hyperfast, To Myself I Turned, Cold, Falling, Within Me, No Need to Explain, This is my Dream (still their best i think), Spellbound, Wike Awake (maybe the most impressive of Cristinas singing) Purify (soooo effing good)
i remember when i first heard them, a german metal show on a music station (not MTV but a german one called VIVA) had a report on a Moonspell Live concert in spain and Lacuna Coil were the support band, they showed like 2 songs from their set when they only had their debut ep out at that time and i immediatly fell in love. Met the band twice in their early days, genuinly nice people.
Lacuna Coil has been one of my favorite bands for over 20 years. I’ve recommended you checking them out a few times over the last year or so and glad you finally did.
Lacuna Coil's "Our Truth" deserves a reaction too, Cristina goes all the way in that song especially when she sing it live
"Our Truth" by far the most i played in my car. One of their best songs
Now this makes me very happy 😊 I truly love this band
I just love early Lacuna Coil. Probably my favourite song from this era is Senzafine. Christina and Andrea's voices work so well together and there is just something more authentic about a song performed in the singer's native language.
I saw them in concert in Atlanta at the Tabernacle in 2007, and I have to say mesmerizing is the perfect word for Cristina.
I totally second both of those recommendations.
I wouldn't say it's that rare as it's been a permanent inclusion on Unleashed Memories for many, many years now
