Another great video. Thanks for the pointing out the safety nubs on the jointer. I will spray paint those nubs RED later on today as a simple reminder to keep my fingers and hands out of the danger zone. Thanks Mike.
Thanks for a great video without a lot of complicated side notes. Simple is sometimes the best. My jointer is 40 years old and still going strong, although I did upgrade the guard and replace the bearings, which was a simple job. AS with most Shopsmith tools, the jointer is built like a tank and will probably outlast anyone who owns one. Blessings, Glen
The only safety comment I would make when using any SPT at the same time the table saw is set up is to keep the saw guard installed if possible so you don't advertly forget the saw when you are jointing, bandsawing, etc.
As Always FANTASTIC VIDEO Between Scott @MyGrowth Rings and yourself , Your videos have become the BIBLE for Shopsmith owners and enthusiasts. I also enjoy the fact that you both take the correct precautions necessary to operate the machine. Respecting the Tools you use is the first step in Safety. Wearing the correct attire that doesn't involve dangling clothing and all the equipment necessary to complete the job, is just as important as safety glasses and durable gloves
Good job Mike. I have used the taper leg jig in the past, although I will use my ShopSmith jointer next time. Thanks for sharing your lifetime of experience.
Excellent job, Mike. Of all the woodworking tools, the jointer scares me the most. I'm pretty sure that is because my dad lost the end of his middle finger on one, way back in the 1940's. I suppose that has left a lasting impression with me. I sure appreciate all the good information and tips that you share with us. Thank you so much.
As you remove material from each side you are changing the over all geometry and each time it gets smaller. I'm so sorry I can't explain it better. I barely grasp it.
An excellent demonstration. The jointer has functions you demonstrated I overlook, have forgotten about. Thank you.
Thanks for always putting out informative and entertaining videos! Much appreciated

Thanks for the tip about tightening down the featherboard - I was trying to figure this out! Thanks for putting together a great video.
no problem

It would be worth being safe just to avoid the comments.
I’m inspired by your videos to go out to my shopsmith and build! Thanks! Also I did t know I could use the jointer to do tapers so 🎉

That showed me a lot thanks !!!
Great demonstration Mike. Thank you.
Thanks
Nice demo, Mike. It’s good to see you in the shop. Scott
Thanks Scott.
One of the more inspiring demos I have seen in a while. Thanks! 👍
Wow, thanks!
Nice presentation Mike, very informative. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent. Thank you!

be safe
Very well done and thank you for the information.🤜🤛
Glad it was helpful!
"I can probably set you up" coming from Mike Young. Yeah he probably can. Lol
You are good.
Why did you remove the spring from the coupler? That seems like a safety issue.
Did you think the guard/feather board work on other jointers? It’s very cool!
its just for any shopsmith jointer
Thanks Mike. What is the longest tapered leg you can make on the jointer?
well, it will do most any size, but the longer ones will require a jointer fence extension
How does it taper the leg versus just making the bottom part of the leg smaller but no taper? Did I miss something?
As you remove material from each side you are changing the over all geometry and each time it gets smaller. I'm so sorry I can't explain it better. I barely grasp it.
Im not ooposed to it and see many benefits but a touch screen on a shopsmith just seems weird
I thought this was gonna be bandsaw
A bandsaw video
