    Well done,Morrie: an exhibition of the best ensemble of contemporary musical skills I have ever witnessed ( to date), and made perfectly clear in your admirable exposition.And that from a man who is unafraid to note how Pachabel can be stupendously boring...Co grstulations! One question: why the E463, why not the Genos 2?

      I was living in Florida and playing every week at the Elks club dances and parties, lugging that very large and heavy, very expensive, Tyros 5, which just barely fit in the back seat of my car. . It got to be too much. So I bought the little light weight (13 pounds) E463 keyboard. I soon realized lots of people had this keyboard and didn't know how to use all the settings, so I started producing tutorials on how to use the E463, and I ended up producing 48 E463 tutorials.

    Fantastic video!!! Well done Morrie!
    It has inspired me to buy a Lightning - USB 3 Camera Adapter, and start playing. I have a Yamaha PSR-E333, which I used it with the app Synthesia on Android to learn to play piano. BUT, suddenly both of my Android Tabs have stopped recornizing USB devices using the OTG cables (I tried 2 cables already). So they are dead.
    In the next few days I will try this on my iPhone.
    Kudos,
    Keep up the good work
    &
    All the best from Gödöllő, Hungary!!!

      @@bogdangherman3562 I’ve certainly heard of Canterbury, thanks to Chaucer. I live in the southwest part of Florida in a small village between Ft Myers and Naples. My home is just two miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I live in a 55 plus gated community which means we’re all old people. I’m not sure if the gates are to keep the bad guys out or to keep us old people in.😎😎😎

    Rather than using a USB cable can you just use a guitar cable connected to an iPhone adapter to record into garage band?

      yes in the video I use an audio track in GarageBand to record the sound of the grand piano in the E463 keyboard, but I could have set up a grand piano MIDI track in Garageband and used that piano voice, which is actually better than the grand piano voice in my keyboard.

    Thank you! Is there a place where I can download a prerecorded song, for example by Bob Dylan, and then delete some of the tracks such as piano and vocals, so I can sing along and play the piano parts on my Yamaha?

      You need the $19 USB-C to USB adapter available from Apple and the a USB cable with an A connector on one end and a B connector on the other end.

      Do you have experience that it will work?
      I connected the USB Printer cable with a "standard" USB-A to an USB-C adapter and got no connection. In the Yamaha handbook for the Iphone/Ipad connection they write I need a USB-C Digital AV Multiport-Adapter or a USB-C VGA Multiport-Adapter. Both are quite expensive (79 Euro = $).

    Excellent performance and an excellent instrument as well as Gbnd. I use Gbnd iOS in conjunction with Yamaha Genos, PSRX-SX600 and other. I use internal midi in Gbnd. However, How would I set hardware midi setting from hardware keyboards to operate? I expect it’s the same principle used on you hardware keyboard.

    • @morriereece5007
      @morriereece5007  2 роки тому

      I don’t really know how to answer your question. It’s been eight or nine years since I did anything with MIDI and that was well before any of my current keyboards existed. I did a UA-cam a month ago on the missing manuals for the E4 63. One of them was a midi reference manual. You might download that manual it could be helpful.

      @@morriereece5007 manuals are old fashion too much to deal with. How did you set your current keyboard to external midi to couple up with you GarageBand? I see you posted this video in August this year. Well done good demo. Yes I’m familiar with using internal midi instrument on Gbnd as it’s all ready set.

      I'm guessing here...you may need to disable the accompaniment by pressing the ACMP ON/OFF button to turn off the styles from playing. you need the entire keyboard to just be a harpsichord and NO styles playing along.

    Hi is it advisable to use sounds from the keyboard instead of the sounds from GarageBand instrument files as I would guess the keyboard sounds are much more realistic particularly on higher end Yamaha keyboards. Is this correct. Thanks in advance

    • @morriereece5007
      @morriereece5007  2 роки тому +1

      Mark, that's a very good question. The answer is very subjective, depending on which keyboard we're taking about, and what you have added to your GarageBand .
      For example, Apple originally went to Germany and had a recording studio spend days digitizing Steinway and a Bosendorf grand pianos to capture their sounds for the grand piano sounds in GarageBand. My little E463 can't begin to compete with that piano sound quality. The catch is...do you have speakers or headphones capable of playing the quality sound that went into those digital recordings ? Mot people don't. I were a pair of headphones that cost over $800, so I do hear how good the sound really is. Now my Yamaha Tyros 5 keyboard can hold its own against the Gargeband instruments, in my humble opinion, but at nearly $6,000 it should. For years I did all my recording in MIDI. The past seven years , since I've bought my Tyros 5, I've moved away from MIDI, and I go for the live Tyros 5 playing in real time to record most of my music. I still use GarageBand to record my singing and playing together, and then importing those audio recordings into iMovie, to produce the videos I put up on UA-cam. I do this to avoid recording from a speaker. I keep all my music digital. So I'm still a very big fan of GarageBand.
      Many years ago , I hosted a conference for music professors (I'm a retired Apple education executive) and in the conference these professors analyzed GarageBand and figured out what equipment you would have to purchase for a recording studio to do what GarageBand does in software. It came to over $40,000 to buy all the hardware to match what GarageBand does in software. And GarageBand is still free.....amazing.

Thanks again my friend.
