    As a guitarist for about 30 years, I've always wanted to get into home recording. Today I finally had the chance to buy a Mac and it will be delivered tomorrow. I've only heard of GarageBand and wanted to get an idea of how to use it. This tutorial is the first and only one I've checked out and I must say it's incredibly well done. I haven't even received it yet and now I feel like I know how to use and navigate it already. Thanks for the great tutorial, I can't wait to get started!

    Not only am I grateful for your video, but I have to say, as a fellow educator I am really impressed by how accurately and thoroughly you anticipate your student audience. Little things, like telling us what settings we don’t need to worry about and things like that. Amazing.

    Thank you for explaining this slowly and in detail. So many people who publish stuff on YT don’t know how to do this. I think you should make a film teaching folk how to make YT tutorials properly, because most of them haven’t got a clue!!

    This was a pure joy to watch. Adding your own vocals was a brilliant move and made the video all the more endearing and inspiring to watch. Hard to believe the video is almost 2 hrs long as it felt like barely 30 minutes and made me go, "wait, is it over already?" This is a gift and a gem of an instructional video! Thank you so much, and all the best to you.

    Being able to give information in way that anyone can understand is a gift. Most of the so called pundits on UA-cam suck at it. They spend so much time trying to show everyone how slick they are, that they forget to teach. Charles Cleyn excels in giving anyone who is interested in learning Garage Band basics a clear, concise, and detailed format from which to do so with no BS. Bravo

    One thing that you didn’t mention that I’ve seen discussed in other videos is how to set the number of bars. Apparently there is a setting to choose the number of bars in the whole song before you start recording. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to do this, but it’s good to know how to set infinite bars or at least a number that is high enough that a track length doesn’t cut off before you have finished recording a part on it.

    HIII I HOPE U READ THIS!!!!! garageband doesnt answer questions like these, which plugins or actions are required to reach this effect: it's possible to change the frequency of your sound through equalisation or voice transformer, how do you record these changes, for example making the mid frequency lower (e.g. the transition sounds good) to record it professionally, which plugins do i need to record those internally through my computer without needing a microphone (or with my mic, id rather be able to do it internally) ------- (if i hear the sound thru my headphones that means its digital sound and recording internally should be possible) if i dont get a response im gonna start spamming comments lol cuz this question has been raging in my mind)

Can't wait to get started properly on it. Have got a question, though. When I do a loop, and press play, it goes to the end of the short section I copied, then it goes back to the start of it, instead of playing the whole loop. Have I missed something out?

    Charles: Thank you for steering me to this Super Beginner course on Garageband. If you have a moment? What difference does it make if I connect my Yamaha Keyboard directly into my iMac Garageband with USB cable (Audio) or use Midi Controller or Audio Controller? I'm a wee bit confused on this. Many thanks.

    • @CharlesCleyn
      @CharlesCleyn  3 роки тому

      Hey Scottie, if you’re only using it as a controller than there is no difference if you use your Yamaha or midi controller. However, your Yamaha keyboard like has some built in sounds that GarageBand doesn’t have. So if you want to use the built in sounds then you’d have to use your Yamaha. You can use it both as an instrument and a controller!
