SCP-3300 │ The Rain │ Euclid │ Meteorological SCP
Item #: SCP-3300
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-3300 is focused on observation and ensuring it does not spread from the affected area. A mobile observation post has been set up five kilometers outside the town of Clear Water, Montana for this purpose. Attempts at manned exploration of SCP-3300 events are currently suspended.
When the SCP-3300 event begins, the observation team will fall back to a point ten kilometers from the town border and continue observation. Any unusual activity is to be noted. Any attempts made by outsiders to enter or exit the area will be halted. Non-lethal force is authorized for this purpose.
Instances of SCP-3300-1 attempting to leave Clear Water will be detained and interviewed under the pretense of a police search. Following this they will be allowed to continue their travel under Foundation observation.
All personnel involved in the containment of SCP-3300 are prescribed a weekly dose of Class-Y mnestics.

You could petition the staff to make story content of higher merit than interpersonal connections. Dont get me wrong this scp is passible . It could use some touch ups but these days everyone is so sensitive about edits. Who you know in discord and twitter has superseded quality. Scp has become inundated with crap scps because everyone knows everyone from the games. We are suffering a real quality content crisis. This one a c+ imho. Passable. But so many these days are just bad. But everyone knows everyone so folks upvote bases on friendship over story quality. Its a real bummer to see the porge grow cold.

@@jacobantonelli Not to needlessly argue but there is an entire separate forum for SCP short stories. They're explicitly different, even on the SCP website. If people want to write SCP short stories, they should write them there. If people want to write SCP's they should write SCP's. The "discovered journal" is a lazy way of making one into the other.

This is such a good creepy-sad scp... the inevitability of death and the inherent inability to learn more about what will happen to you is chilling. There's no evil organization to track down, no suspicious individuals, things are just happening and there's no one to answer why as you wait for your watery demise.

So basically, a long time ago everyone basically returned themself into a river and became water. And it seems they reincarnate into various forms of themselves, possibly becoming mixed with other people to continue living.
Sounds like the village was dying from an illness and the underaged elders came up with a way to save everyone but it kind of turned into a curse
This SCP is one of the saddest and also creepiest.

Newer SCPs feel a lot more like tales than SCP documentations to me. A lot of ‘em have big stories to tell as opposed to just being a peculiar phenomenon/object with hints (or total lack) of a backstory.

I think a good SCP should be the best of both. Good documentary and an interesting accompanying story. House of the Worm is really long, but one of my all time favorites.
The originals were very much like creepy pasta. There’s some great stuff in the early ones but the writing standards seem to higher than before

I fell in love with this SCP after hearing about it from The Exploring Series. It's melancholic in a way, yet so terrifying

Anyone else keep thinking that these SCP entries would make a fantastic TV series. Hell you could have a 20-40 minute long episode where it's literally just an entry being visualized
Fan made short films exist for that reason, and actually follow them correctly. Shows by big companies would just be done wrong, with many changes based on how they want to present something. The Halo show is one example that has some weird changes different from the games.

It's terrifying that the water dad just ruthlessly and unemotionally just wails on the mom with a club, which clearly shows they will result to murder if you try to hurt them or attack them. And yet they wait outside patiently for the girl until she goes nuts and becomes one with them. And clearly the dreams she has is the origin of this scp, or atleast a memory of a past life, or seeing this through another person's perspective from a long time ago in a native tribe.
I'm very late to the SCP train, having only found it recently, but I love your content! The quality is fantastic, (Good mic set up, clear graphics, clean layout and DAMN I love the scrolling text on the sidebar? heck yeah good design choice) the stories are told well, and overall it makes my day whenever I get to see the notification pop up. The event lasts 6-18 days. I'm guessing the event has a, "wind up" period of a few days. Then, the remaining days is how long it takes to hunt down everyone in the city. Sometimes they go down/give up quickly (like in this journal.) Sometimes you've got hardcore survivors who try to hang on for a while. Hence 18 days, that's probably the longest a survivor(s) have lasted for when the event happened.
I wonder if they've ever tried having someone camping out in the town at the very edge of its borders from late May onward with a thick rope around their waist and then as soon as the rain started they could use a crank or something to pull that person back out.

This is one of my favorite SCPs. It’s both beautifully creepy and sad. The inevitability of death and the mystery of what comes after.

I really enjoyed the thumbnail. Being able to capture the refraction of light in water is very difficult yet you captured it along with the fine details of a human face.

I really miss when there were more of these small instances at the end of these readings where it seems like Volgun is essentially giving a lecture on these SCPs to a crowd of researchers. It made me think of a scene with a thin haze of cigarette smoke, people in suits watching a gel projector's images of the SCPs and relevent documents.
This is probably the best scp video I've seen. The combination of good writing with your format and storytelling ability was perfect. The water people staring at me the entire video just adds to the tension and I love it. As if they're staring at me the same as the people in the store; knowing it ends the same for everyone. We all become rain.
Is this SCP in any relation to the crazy rain described and warned about by instances of SCP 1862 of the HMS wintersheimer? I think with a little stretching the 2 could be connected.
The diary is from june 1995, and yet they reference an internet shortage.
Of course the internet will be down. It's not even up properly yet.
For the public. IIRC the Internet was available for the government at the time. If that was the case, I’m sure the Foundation could’ve gotten access considering the other deals they’ve made with governments.

If you were a certain type of nerd you would have used the internet heavily in 1995. Though my understanding of the internet at that time was that it was all through the phone lines so I’m not sure how the internet could be down. Maybe the particular boards or message groups the person was a member of were offline (a nerdy board would be hosted on an individual computer which would need to be actively connected).
It’s weird. They pick a real place in Montana to set the events, but then list a fake place for the Hospital. As someone from this neck of the woods, it was cool to see something set around here

Literally came on to check on a Volgun video, and here I am, seeing one!
For me, this was one of the earliest SCP articles I read so when I think of the definitive SCP this is one of the ones I think back to... Also literally a few days after I read it we got only the second tornado warning in our towns history and it was raining so hard outside and the wind was blowing a ton so ughh that was kinda freaky.
A town called Clearwater has people who are like, literally made of water, but that water isn't clear.
I can picture one of the manned expeditions going crazy in the city. The lone survivor was viewed singing “I’m singing in the rain.”

Excellent narration and writing. That dream description around 22:55 is especially beautiful. I love stories that make commonplace things (like water) creepy as hell.
MY antidepressants (that I ran out of two weeks ago) have caused me to have some really strange dreams, and the odd dreams in the journal entry for this SCP combined with "I don't want to go back" hit me a lot harder than I think I expected, because yeah, that's precisely what it feels like when I wake up from a horrifying dream. I don't want to fall asleep ever again after a nightmare. I don't want to go back to it, to be forced to experience it again. So basically, I love this SCP because it nearly brought me to tears and I want to know even more about it.
