Well we kinda know why, long long ago there was a plague that devastated a village, and then they did a fucking satanic water ritual to become immortal rain and now in subsequent lives they regret that, or you know, something of that effect.
osh kunt what if it's like the same sort of boon/curse, so like the townspeople and the submarine people both made the same sort of deal with whoever or whatever for immortality but in a different form than what they were before. You could dip your toes into like a rain god sort of deal or maybe a whole water themed pantheon, or like maybe some like ancient rituals or artifacts which can bind souls to ecological events or elements. Maybe there's a specific wand or cup or whatever that the boy who thought himself a man found in an old derelict underwater temple when he was free diving or whatever, and to finish the ritual they returned the artifact to the sea or something and the original Wintersheimer crew got caught up in one of the freaky deaky storms and somehow came into contact with the artifact while they were out of bounds of the town but not the storm so they got sucked up into the curse but could still leave in their submarine to try and warn people about the rain.

Sleeping on the job
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling...
Imma listen to this on a rainy day and dream to myself as I look out the window. Seems like it would be pleasant. Rain is something I love and I don't think I'd mind letting it consume me as if I were a resident of Clearwater.
"Could be worse."
"How?"
"Could be raining."
Major Respect to anyone who can name the movie and whom said those lines!
i can't remember what movie it is but a part of me is thinking waterworld but i know its not
Young Frankenstein
@@devinkilgore3406 Can you name who said those lines?
Young Frankenstein, said by Igor and Frederick
And then it started raining lol
You can really tell how good the writer who wrote this scp is the way he says everything and fills it with emotion and perfectly frames it for the readers is beyond me
I’m siiiingin in the rain... I’m siiiiingin in the rain!
MY antidepressants (that I ran out of two weeks ago) have caused me to have some really strange dreams, and the odd dreams in the journal entry for this SCP combined with "I don't want to go back" hit me a lot harder than I think I expected, because yeah, that's precisely what it feels like when I wake up from a horrifying dream. I don't want to fall asleep ever again after a nightmare. I don't want to go back to it, to be forced to experience it again. So basically, I love this SCP because it nearly brought me to tears and I want to know even more about it.
i never understood how that journal stayed alive in a whole ass flood. it makes me think of those things i had in the bath you’d attach to the wall that you could write on and was waterproof lol
Easy, journals aren’t alive so they can’t die. But no serious we’ve found carvings and writings that date back thousands of years in all kinds of places and are still legible, I don’t think a wet journal is too unbelievable lol
What a horrifying Hell to be trapped in. Great read and visuals as always Aaron!
For me, this was one of the earliest SCP articles I read so when I think of the definitive SCP this is one of the ones I think back to... Also literally a few days after I read it we got only the second tornado warning in our towns history and it was raining so hard outside and the wind was blowing a ton so ughh that was kinda freaky.
Oh nice, I just learned about this SCP in a recommended video yesterday, and now the Volgun's finally tackling it!
Good way to start the week.
If you're confused about this one there's a really good exploring series video about it.
Casual. You know what else explains it well READING IT ON THE WIKI FOR YOURSELF
@@ATSucks1 But I like listening to people read me bedtime stories D:
@@ATSucks1 Volgun is reading off the wiki but there is a sub wiki called SCP explained which can greatly help.
@@ATSucks1 Please don't gatekeep SCP fandom. When you do, you're just as bad as what's currently happening to the wiki and community, itself
@@peazeralus OK, I'm gatekeeping by recommending folks read the story in the wiki .. As opposed to watching it again on another channel. Yeah OK. Great opinions you got there.
I love it when little stories on what it is starring characters is presented cause It gives you a view on what the victim is going through
"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain."
4:21 that accent change for 3 words was killer
Rainy Mood but the mood is existential horror.
I normally fall asleep to these, but the story in this one was so good I couldn't help but get enthralled in the story
Same
Is this SCP in any relation to the crazy rain described and warned about by instances of SCP 1862 of the HMS wintersheimer? I think with a little stretching the 2 could be connected.
I really miss when there were more of these small instances at the end of these readings where it seems like Volgun is essentially giving a lecture on these SCPs to a crowd of researchers. It made me think of a scene with a thin haze of cigarette smoke, people in suits watching a gel projector's images of the SCPs and relevent documents.
"But when my soul steps to exit this frame I will be reincarnated as Rain" -Eyedea
Was thinking the same lyric, that's weird. Rip Eyedea
I'll fly a starship
Across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again...
-the highwaymen
Only halfway through and this is already one of my favorites. Sometimes a premise just reaches out and grabs you.
I LOVE THIS SCP!!! One of the best ones written!
Have you forgotten about the mnestics?
The young will replace the old. Someone new will take our homes. We, too, will pass on to be remixed into new people and things. All of us, like water, will flow on.
Literally came on to check on a Volgun video, and here I am, seeing one!
i’m listening to this at nearly 3 am and it just started fucking raining outside and it made this 10000000 times more terrifying
it’s also been sunny here all week i had no idea it was supposed to rain which makes it WORSE
The next time I teach a science class about the water cycle, Maybe I should include this
That would be a good prank
As long as it's not to 3rd graders. Lol
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Man you are very interesting and the way you narrate these is the best I've seen so far. You should definitely get in on the scp "movies"
If the scp was real I'd absolutely want to be an agent or on the teams grabbing them
I actually really like this one
Ok tyler 👍
@@the_smog581 Ok Boomer (Thumbs up emoji)
You KNOW we're always here at the end of the lecture.
Your voice is hypnotic.
Best birthday present is a new Volgun video! Love these so much and comparing it to other SCP videos it’s clear how much effort you put into each one.
I didn't know that such an innocent character like you Thomas would be into dangerous supernatural phenomena like this. I hope none of the other engines learn of your dark secret.
I can't get over the page flipping idk why it just sounds so good
I’ve started mimicing “dr Millar”s speech patterns
I can picture one of the manned expeditions going crazy in the city. The lone survivor was viewed singing “I’m singing in the rain.”
This would make a cool ass movie
one of my favorite SCPs read by my favorite SCP youtuber
enjoyed it, well done
This is what my Sims must feel when I remake my town
Anyone noticed at how the SCP Shorts are basically modern lovecraft stories? Like almost all of the stories here could be just another part of another cosmic Horror universe, i love it!
Yeah, and instead of saying "it's so spooky I couldn't even tell you how spooky it is" it's [REDACTED]
This is pretty awesome! Have you ever thought of doing some of the SCP Tales?
I never knew someone could make rain scary...
Creepy pasta,
spooky soda (ghost soda),
and now ; scary water

This was wild cuz I always listen to your videos with thunder/rain storm sounds in another tab
This would be great on Spotify!
This SCP is a masterpiece, easily one of my favorites
Cloudy with a chance of [REDACTED]
Ever since the exploring series did a video on this one I was hoping you would too, loved it just like all the others
