I have used the 7.9 gallon versions for over a year now. Love the weight and the big opening. Overage volume also allow for no blowoff if you don’t overfill. I have not had any luck w using the bottom spigot. Either leaks or picks up more trub than I like. SO much safer than glass. Cheers and best of luck on your fermentation’s!
I"m thinking about buying the 12L version for small batches. Did you ever do a follow-up on what it was like to use it as a fermenter? Would you recommend it vs. standard shaped carboy?
Hi! No I never did a follow-up, but I do still continue to use the Speidel. I like it. It is a lot easier to clean than a standard glass carboy and it isn't nearly as heavy. I like that it has two handles to carry it which makes it much more stable when picking up and putting down. The only frustrating part is that the spigot is not a standard size for tubing so you do have to buy new tubing. Thanks for watching!

Great input! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
I'm excited to see how this new fermenter goes 🍺
Me too!
That large opening will make it easier to clean than a carboy
Absolutely! And, I won't have to mess with that huge bottle brush!
