Mountaintop back in the era of instant reload abilities might be a challenger. The fact that the two could be used together really just made them both better though, they were almost a package deal.

Suros Regime and Hard light were kings of the 600 rpm meta. There was also short linear fusion rifle (arbslest) meta when everybody tried to get the ritual linear fusion rifle.
“The messenger is one of the most high-skill high-reward weapons” the only skill required is standing on the back of the map and doing nothing Edit: and calls the vex a crutch
I was using the 600rpm Scathelocke back in the pre-Forsaken days because it also had high calibur rounds and under pressure. It was a counter meta pick that outdueled Uriel's Gift. Scathelocke has been reissued but the year one version had a sight for every range, now it doesn't even roll with sight perks, it has barrels instead
A few history notes for the first couple of minutes-- The pulse meta in Y1 really started with Darkest Before's initial release in Curse of Osiris, which competed directly with the auto offerings of the day for the few still playing. Additionally, the IKELOS SMG was strongly bolstered by one somewhat-glitch that would regularly impact duels: double impacts. Essentially, with Seraph Rounds, IKELOS bullets could penetrate targets and hit them again after bouncing off a wall, causing some absolute melts that other weapons couldn't compete with at the time.
I remember when i got mine mindbender's, for some reason i put in my mind that i was gonna get it alone, and was a painfull week, but when i got the roll that i wanted, i was so happy that i absolutely forgot that i wasn't really a shotgun player, neither a crucible player, in the end, was a painfull week to get the gun and a painfull month learning how to use it and play crucible
I remember using Uriels all the time in vanilla. Kept telling my clan members you guys NEED to try this gun out in cruci! Days later it was everywhere! I think I still have mine, locked in my vault as a momento too.
Awesome video! So fun to reflect back to the beginning. How could you forget The Last Hope?? That paired with Mida was a brutal combo for original trials of the nine.
Prometheus Lensssss... I remember the laser tag weekend. I played exactly one match, took a break from Destiny until Warmind dropped, and then like a year later I got the emblem lol.
The most memorable drop for me is spare rations, because I got a god roll from drifter when I unlocked tier 2 reckoning. Paired that with a twilight path and murder lobbies at both close and far range via shotgun sniping.
I'm surprised you never brought up Orimund's Anvil. It was basically the Pariah, but upgraded with accurized rounds and under pressure. I actually took Pariah into Crucible for a while before Anvil came out once I found out how insane it was. Anvil was freaking insane, and it turned into a war over Anvil and Uriels users.
It's funny I can recall every one of these from memory, in order. I knew you missed Last Hope immediately along with some other y1 weapons like Stocastic Variable, Darkest Before and Purpose(used in both pve and pvp but probably more in pve) and some power weapons like Tractor Cannon, any cluster rocket, Play of the Game and Maxim XI. I also loved y1 Truthteller after they got an ammo buff getting you 8 shots per power ammo pickup and 1 shotting with proximity even around corners meaning I could have power ammo the entire game with how fast it spawned b4 Bungie made it shared. You also missed Twilight Oath in y2.
after leaving right before forsaken and just returning in season 15, i’ve just now almost recovered from missing all that loot. now i don’t wanna leave, even during bad seasons, just so i don’t fall out of the loop
The Shatterdive entry got a chuckle out of me, esp as someone who definitely abused it a bunch up until recently (I transitioned to Bottom Tree arc hunter and atone for my sins)
I used my bygones so much in forsaken, kill clip with full auto trigger, that was the weapon i used to get my redrix and lunas (after doing the other challenges) what a great servant to me that was
Let's be real, there are 3 reasons for sunsetting, and their names are: Mountaintop, Recluse, and Revoker. PVP wiped out a good deal of really solid weapons, all because of 3 problem weapons.

Scathelocke has been reissued but the year one version had a sight for every range, now it doesn't even roll with sight perks, it has barrels instead
I remmeber all these metas. Mida in week one trials of the nine wow.
This was really fun to watch. Brings back some great memories
this is pure nostalgia
This makes me really miss year 1 destiny 2 loved using dire and ikelos
And not forgotten felt incredible. Also loved spare rations / mindbenders meta. Haven’t enjoyed pvp as much since then (when stasis came)
ow man seeing the footage of the dire @ 150 RPM i miss 150s
A few history notes for the first couple of minutes--
The pulse meta in Y1 really started with Darkest Before's initial release in Curse of Osiris, which competed directly with the auto offerings of the day for the few still playing.
I definitely remembered the old 120 meta. Trying to finish Ticcu’s Divination Catalyst Crucible Steps while 120s could map you at similar ranges.
Great stuff! I would have expected the Ikelos shotgun to make this list but overall this was some good reminiscing!
What a trip down memory lane. As much as some of these metas were painful, it's fun to look back and say "remember that time?!"
Very well done video bud. Came out awesome!
16:41 - 17:54
*looks at Season 17*
Huh. Well this aged well...
I love this video, thank you for creating a fun walk down D2 history. I started playing in Forsaken.
Great video, this is why I sub to you Patty. You are so damn thoughtful
I want a pvp map in the Clovis bray facility
as a day one D2 player i felt so nostalgic watching this
The promo lens in trials was always a blast I'm not gona lie
I used my bygones so much in forsaken, kill clip with full auto trigger, that was the weapon i used to get my redrix and lunas (after doing the other challenges) what a great servant to me that was
Surprised summoner wasnt on the list but def a valid list nonetheless
8:38 kinda funny to watch frame by frame where the reticle is and where the bullet goes
14:16 I miss. The only thing that could make me cry is the removal of this gun. Which happened when it swapped to the 140 rpm and got sunset.
Honorable mention: witherhoard. After its release, it was 'floor is lava' for like a month
Let's be real, there are 3 reasons for sunsetting, and their names are: Mountaintop, Recluse, and Revoker. PVP wiped out a good deal of really solid weapons, all because of 3 problem weapons.
pretty accurate haha
