Since 2017, Destiny 2 has gone through a number of changes with each major patch, update or expansion. This video looks at the top few weapons of each major era in PvE history through time.
Some of these weapons are still very good today, while others have been overshadowed. Which weapons would you add or remove from this list? I'd love to hear from you!

I like the idea of Meta defining exotic armor through the years. You start thinking of Starfire, Wormhusk, and the HOIL storm grenade spams. Great video, I love these

Only thing im surprised you didnt add is the osteo striga SMG. it is still very common in PvE play due to its ability to ad clear well as a primary weapon.
this was such a fun walk through d2's history. i sometimes still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about the mtop/recluse days
I thought for sure Ikelos SMG would get mentioned sooner. It dominated the meta with warmind cell creation

Pattycakes, I gotta say man, I think you’re sleeping on LMGs based on your Thunderlord slot. They are great in PVE right now.
We wrote this video months ago before it started getting so popular again but the editing took a while to get it out there. I agree TL is pretty good now!

This really took me back to warmind when I started d2. Graviton lance was my pic during the d2 campaign and I’m still using it to this day, now in pvp instead of pve, but still using it none the less. Thank you for a great nostalgia video. I would like twice if I could.
A bit criminal that lament was not on this list. I kind of took in the place of the falling guillotine with some ridiculous damage.

I still have my original Sins of the Past and a couple other Levi weapons in my Vault. Along with my original Merciless, Acrius (which I had to solo Arms Dealer for the catalyst), and Coldheart as well.
Don’t forget the RoF nerf for rapid fire frames too! Ikelos shotgun was gutted after that

Cluster bomb was a favorite perk of mine it seems like they don't use it anymore I can't think of any new weapons that have it , maybe adding some elemental effects to it would be cool

Great video but I’m kinda surprised that crown splitter wasn’t included because for a whole season it could 1 shot GM champions and do massive boss dps hitting at 999,999 damage per heavy attack

merciless is still good, used it during Master VoW and it still puts in work
Merciless is on paper one of the strongest weapons in the entire game, it's just (deliberately) held back by the terrible ammo economy it has.
I remember the good old recluse days, where it was literally a mandatory item for both pve and pvp, and it was THE most powerful weapon in the game even though it was just a legendary. I never got it because I was awful at pvp but I envied getting that weapon so bad. I honestly think we will never get a weapon that was that universal or powerful ever again.

Surprised you didn’t talk about the Deathbringer meta during season of the splicer lol.
If built right, you can pick up 5 rockets for each brick and get more form heavy finisher and stuff.
Literally would run around strikes using deathbringer on trash thralls and get a full ammo from him dropping 2 bricks. Then proceed to nuke bosses with argent ordinance.

So, no mention of ratking, darci, worldline zero, fourth horseman, lament, cloudstrike, huckleberry, martyrs retribution, truth teller, legendary traces, Osteo, and Xeno.
Hooooold up thunderlord now with the catalyst is one of the top dps
am disapointed to see that when you talked about witherhoard, you forgot to mention its bug where if you stacked its effect enough times with a 6 mans fireteam you could instantly erase any raid boss out of reality, it was patched later tho

You forgot to mention that people would also use outbreak on the scourge of the past raid boss
Particle deconstruction, energy accelerate, classy restoration, breach and clear I really wish they would release these and others past artifact mods into the mod pool. Obviously they would need some tuning, make them cost more or give them Stat subtractions /limit builds to only 1 of them at a time.. I think they would really help with more unique builds

It does great dps but just tears through its ammo.
Actually I disagree for Retrofit. For bosses, it is the highest total damage heavy in the ENTIRE game with FTTC and Target Lock. Granted, the DPS of a machine gun is built for sustained, not burst

Surprised there’s no mention of Worldline zero. Sure it wasn’t meta for damage or PvP but it gave passion to the speed runneing community. Also some of the reckoning weapons like spare rations were very meta defining in pvp

you didn't mention osteo striga! i thought that was one of the most interesting and useful weapons out there. and i've seen a lot of people use it in higher level gameplay

Um.... Have you just not played season 20? The machine gun buffs to reserves made them an absolutely godly pick in any content which doesn't require heavy boss DPS. People have even been using Thunderlord to melt some bosses like Nezarec on the day 1 raid. I'm gonna have to assume this script was written a long time ago, because machine guns are extremely meta right now in all levels of content and it's simply incorrect to state otherwise.
Yeah we started writing this well before LF came out and a few of the sections are a bit outdated now with regards to how the weapons perform in the current meta. The point of the video was to show the history but it took a long time to produce and we should have just skipped some of those comments since they didn’t age well lol
Merciless is a fucking beast right now. With the most recent buff it’s so good, even used for solo nez, so idk what you’re talking about when you say it’s been powercrept. Same thing with risk runner, definitely hasn’t been powercrept by trinity ghoul at all, it’s insanely good when there’s enemies with arc damage and basically provides you free arc resist while being an ad clear machine
Edit: also love you patty but it’s insane to say machine guns aren’t that great right now, they’re by far one of the best, if not the best, weapon types. Especially for ad clear

@@Fyoozhen yeah we should have just chopped them during the edit process but I was more worried about making good music picks lol. I used YT's editing tool to clip them out, so hopefully that helps clear up confusion for future viewers

Pretty sure Tractor was changed from 50% void to 30 ish% across the board in shadowkeep not in forsaken... pretty certain about this fact as it's one of the reasons why swarm of the raven was the defacto heavy gl pick for the opulence meta, it being void meant it far outclassed any other gl for DPS in conjunction with tractor
Also your pronunciation of Recluse kills me inside but it is what it is, doesn't take away from an enjoyable video.
And despite other comments I don't believe osteo/lament/deathbringer are weapons worth mentioning, they've had their times in the limelight but none were meta defining.
Also there was a period between season of the worthy and beyond light where there was somewhat of a grey area for the meta where things like xeno and anarchy + sniper was the meta

Martyr's Retribution was not a meta defining weapon, if there were a wave frame it would be Deafening Whisper but wave frames were never really a "meta."
