Yeah just how it goes now unless they find a way to bring people into pvp again everyone has gotten fed up with how much it’s been neglected and moved on.
Only 3 things that were forgotten was the Telesto event and Devil’s Ruin META during Checkmate introduction, and also mentioning how dominant the Tarrabah was
@@colewilliams3621it’s so sad… it was good for 1 week of trials in checkpoint alone. it was a hidden gem for years that i used with heat rises and then it gets nerfed bc of content creators defining the meta as per usual smh
Forsaken era of D2 pvp was honestly the most fun I had ever had. The only thing I would've mentioned within that section is how prominent Dust Rock Blues was. I mean seriously every 6v6 and 3v3 mode I went into, someone was using Dust Rock and either Lunas or NF.
You missed one of the most painful parts of Forsaken, the Lord of Wolves meta. God that thing was everywhere and you would be punished so hard if you didn't use it
One of my favorite metas was the season of opulence era. My go to loadout was beloved, last word, with middle tree nova for handheld super nova and controvers holds.
One-Eyed Mask Striker Titan w/ Recluse and Mountain Top was the most fun I ever had in Crucible. Absolutely disgusting. Degenerate. Broken. I loved it.
Vanilla D2 Meta was good when MIDA wasn't around. Quite enjoyed the longer, skill based gunfights than the ones of Shotgun Sliding, Stompee SMG/Shotgun, Juggernaut Skullfort, Contraverse Nova, and Aim Assist Galore Snipers. They should've stayed in Heavy Slot for PvP only, was much more fun that way when you didn't get one shot spawn killed or curbstomped for not playing broken. I know this is a lonely hill, one I'll be on for eternity
I will happily join you on that hill, sliding and pressing R2/RT once and getting a kill literally requires no skill and is boring. No recoil control, No strafing literally nothing just press shoot once and you’re good
Spare Rations + Beloved is my most used weapon combination in D2. Deffinitely my favorite time frame, both weapons just felt perfect to use. The sound, the desgin, the snappines in combination with Dragons Shadow. Perfect.
I definitely remember my eyes widening whenever I’d hear an Arbalest charge up. I think people would do it to send players frantically running for cover even if they didn’t have a shot to take.
One small correction, Uriel’s Gift didn’t have high impact reserves, it had Tap the Trigger. It was good because of the base stability plus more from Tap, as well as accuracy help and flinch from high calibre rounds
As of right now, this one. Low player base, sweatiest quick play, solo trials is nearly impossible.. go into 6’s to try a new weapon, build, sens settings or anything else is bonkers when you dont have time to think. You just have to sweat and pray. Still fun, it’s just extremely hectic right now.
This resonates with me as a casual player. I don't play Trials and hardly touch Comp so to come into 6s and have to sweat feels bad for me. I constantly switch weapons because I just want to have fun.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the anniversary event, as it (in my eyes) was the best balance we had had between abilities/gunplay… ever subclasses had been nerfed to have specific CDs on their abilities based on impact instead of fixed CDs across the board and we hadn’t gotten subclass 2.0 yet. Guns were all fairly balanced (smgs lol but still) and the new content had so many people playing and objectively having fun. For me this was the golden age :(
I remember when i get recluse, i spent hours to get this gun, but the reward is better, i come back to play destiny this week, after 1 year, or more, and using this gun back bring me nostalgia, in the times that i played this game
Man, youre making me miss good ol Redrix and NF in their base states. Also dont forget, we could stow Memento shots until we wanted to use them back in the day too.
You forgot to mention the calling cards you got for playing during the time Prometheus Lense and Lord of Wolves were busted. Still some of my favorite to have equiped.
The best metas were those of medium range weapons with precision weapons on the side (i.e. handcannon/sniper, auto/precision frame shotty). Long-range metas encourage sitting in the back of the map and makes the pvp arena less fun to play. I love it when pulses and scouts get buffs that make them viable options, but not the dominant force.
The time period timers you had in the top right werent something I immediately noticed, but were a really neat addition! I quit pvp initially cuz of the mtop+recluse meta, and when I tried it again, it was LotW meta 💀 Needless to say, took me quite a while before I got back into it after that lmao
my favorite meta is the 30th anniversary. everything was pretty well balanced, abilities weren’t spammy, it was just a good time. After the stasis nerfs
I’ve been playing Destiny PvP since the beta and the debut of the Prismatic Hunter was easily the most toxic META in franchise history, til this day it’s still corny but not as bad as when it first came out.
How is it corny though? Every class has their own advantages Hunters are supposed to be the "movement" class when shoulder bash and icarus dash has you into lanes that hunters can't get to at the same pace Not to forget about things like bubble meta, well of radiance, and on hunter the new arc super etc I'm sure why hunters are being blown out of proportion when all classes are guilty of being "unbalanced"
@@valediction9174 I would’ve agreed with you before Subclass 3.0, Hunters were sitting ducks compared to the other classes but Prismatic Hunter did way too much other classes couldn’t really compete with, ofc they finally nerfed Strand clone, Smokes and Solar nades but back then it was overwhelming ability spam and required zero gun skill.
@@LeJunny i agree my friend Post TFS I completely stopped playing crucible because of metas like that It’s a farcry to the actual fun chaotic sandbox Destiny 1 once was
Forgot the BL Chaos Reach meta. It got so bad that Bungie reworked the Geomag exotic. The Antaeus Ward meta was pretty annoying too, and they got nerfed as well
I loved the part where sidearms finally shined after a small buff, which got partly reversed a couple weeks later. And I thought the Hardlight meta was pretty fun in 6v6 with how goofy it was
Dont forget that chaperone was so busted because of the wallhacks from spectral blades... and LORD OF WOLVES post nerf in Forsaken! We even got an emblem for playing while Lord of Wolves was... just broken in all matters...
Surprised there's no mention of the 30th Anniversary rebalancing, which was the last time weapons were first and abilities would follow. It was just fun and fair. In hindsight, Bungie did all of that to pave way for Light 3.0, which again put abilities full front.
I was away for the forging event of Lightfall, but from what I have heard and seen, it definitely should return as an official thing in some way. It looked great
I think the most fun meta for me was back in season 11 with bastion summoner on a titan with anteus. It was hilarious to mow down supers with anteus deflect plus the bastion. But recently the peacekeeper sniper wasnt bad bc it did take skill. it was night and day difference between a good smg sniper and not.
I hated the Gatekeeper meta when Luna's Howl came forth. It made it harder to play crucible and I would just leave matches cause I would spawn into getting head shot by a luna's howl.
I don’t mind pvp much right now or the meta. There’s always gonna be annoying stuff but right now getting diamond lanced for my teammate getting shit on in trials def pisses me off.
I think the dominance of Shatterdive was probably one of the worst eras for the Crucible for me. It was such an oppressive OHK and took way too long to nerf.
30th anniversary was my favorite meta, good balance and population with minimal bs and no SBMM/FTMM. worst meta was gyrfalcon/loreley enabling 1 hit body shot lorenz/arbalest
Initial launch of Nova Warp and Handheld Supernova was the strongest warlocks have ever been in pvp offensively. Arguably, Well-locks are defensive lockdown experts but to me were not as strong as the nova warp times. I don’t feel warlocks have ever been that strong since, and have never had as much of the spotlight with OP builds as Hunters and Titans have over the past 8 years
The best era recently was the post shatterdive nerf pre strand Witch Queen era. No severe outliers in TTK with lots of viable class and loadout options. Now anything other than prismatic clone spam hunter is throwing.
Mentioning witherhoard of all things but no drb, mindbender, 120s or chaos reach is crazy Especially 120s honestly, they started the transition of hand cannons from being strictly the most fun weapon to be meta to what we have now where it's just wallfucking and teaming 24/7
Things like ntte becoming more and more used in pre wq season, xurgridient, multimach dropping in s12, bastion, citans and so much more is way more impactful than witherhoard
Xirgridient was mentioned but only in wq section and not end of the last shadowkeep season, last weeks of it were plagued but ntte MI In wq he sold a godroll for a second time
People finding out about smgs in the first wq season and leading to like what year and a half-step years hard SMG and barricade meta is also entirely missing/out of place too
I know this is sad but the mida/uriels era was the only real time I enjoyed playing crucible. I have never enjoyed using hand cannons or smgs in crucible and I am tired of them being the only usable options
Vanilla D2 was the best. People always say people were camping but i disagree. The maps were big, abilities were balanced, supers were balanced. You also never got 1 shot or cheesed. Most fights were 1v1 and who had better aim won. I still felt HC were the best but all other options were still viable.
fave: Jade rabbit meta near the end of year 1 d2 or release recluse with a kinetic sniper (I used bite of the fox) least fave: Stasis meta at the beginning of beyond light. I quit the game before Lightfall released so I can't speak on the newer metas.
Played crucible last week with a friend of mine since a long time not playing d2 and we thought we were back in d2 y1. Imo the auto rifle / pulse rifle meta is just not fun at all and made us both say "nope we are not touching crucible again for a while" maybe it's just bc of the low population who knows
16:19 It took me so long to get my NF (solo que whoooooooo!!!!) that they nerfed it to the ground :( but with that time stamp, what's sad was the amount of people that would just pay for it, trust me, that BS was everywhere.
Crazy how slow and dry Vanilla Destiny 2 was. If you worsened the graphics, you could convince any non Destiny player that it was early Destiny 1 gameplay.
The bubble over shield smg titan meta my least favourite and I think was the worst. Having you team or the enemy team just put a bubble up and everyone stares at each other cause they just auto win the round was hilariously bad for a fps game.
I don't mind casual PvP much now. Besides that hunter arc super. And whenever flawless trials players decide it would be fun to curbstomp a casual lobby. Other than that, I don't mind it. Personally would rather be playing pve though.
