You're only three basic ingredients-butter, flour, and sugar-away from making these sweet buttery cookies. And we almost guarantee you have all three of them in your kitchen. Which begs the question... why aren't you making these cookies right now?! Also we know it might be cheating and adding a fourth ingredient but if you have sprinkles, add them on top before baking for a fun and festive look.

Ingredients for making 3 ingredient sugar cookies:
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 stick plus 2 tbsp salted butter, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions for making sugar cookies with only 3 ingredients:
- First add 1/3 of a cup of granulated sugar to a large bowl then add 1 stick plus 2 tbsp of softened butter
- Use and electric mixer to cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy and smooth
- Now all you need to do is add 1 cup of all purpose flour and mix again until combined
- The texture will be slightly crumbly but that’s ok
- Use you hands to form and roll 1 inch balls of dough then place them on a lined cookie sheet
- Pat the dough down to to form discs then you can add any kind of sprinkles you like or just leave them bare
- Bake at 325 F for 15 minutes
- These aren’t exactly like classic sugar cookies but they’ll satisfy your sweet tooth in a pinch

Did you just put one full stick of butter in there? What is the meaning of 1 stick + 2 tbsp of butter? Overall these cookies look pretty easy to make and look delicious, I'm excited to make them

I just made these, and 15 minutes in the oven was a little too long, it burned the edges a little too much (but the cookies were still definitely edible). The next batch I tried 12 minutes, which was perfect!

Great recipe, taste sooo good. I added double amount of sugar, flower, and added 1tsp of vanilla extract. With the changes it makes for a great cookie, and makes more of a traditional sugar cookie taste.

I made these and they spread out very thin. They looked strange, but tasted wonderful! Update: I decreased the butter to one stick a kneaded the dough added some flour until the dough was soft and supple Same temp and time. They came out perfect. Thanks.

I am making these right now!! I can't wait to eat these! Except I wanted into make the batch a little smaller and my dough came out a little smooth not crumby. Very good, needed a little more sugar, next time i would do 2/3 cups of sugar. I was out of butter, I used Margarine instead, I added one egg and 1 tbsp of Vanilla. 😍

I haven't baked sugar cookies in quite a while but I remember before sometimes they would run on the cookie sheet during baking.
