- Lucy and Ricky sublet their country house to the Williams family. The Williams' popularity rose from "Make Room for Daddy", starring Danny Thomas.
I Love Lucy is an American television sitcom starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957, on CBS. All 180 episodes aired on Mondays.
In total 180 episodes of I Love Lucy were produced, plus a pilot episode. The pilot, which was not made for broadcast and did not air as part of the show's original run, is generally not counted as one of the episodes and therefore listed separately for reference. It is, however, available on DVD and Blu-ray releases of the first season. Following I Love Lucy, a further 13 one hour-long episodes were produced under the title of The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show (later and more commonly known in syndication as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour) with the same cast and later packaged as seasons 7, 8 & 9 under the I Love Lucy series.
Two amazing ensemble casts come together for one outstanding hour of comedy. I still laugh every time I see this episode. Good comedy is good comedy and this holds up beautifully over 65 years later.
I love this crossover episode with the cast of the Danny Thomas Show. And Lucy and Desi appeared together on a 1959 Danny Thomas Show episode, and Lucy had Danny appear a couple of times on her LUCY SHOW and HERE'S LUCY, and she appeared on Danny's MAKE ROOM FOR GRANDDADDY show from 1971. Marlo Thomas said in an interview that when she was forming her own sitcom, she asked Lucy a lot of questions. Lucy told her no matter what the cost, hire the best people you can because it would be a show of strength.
Wow I never knew that I wish there was a way to watch the Danny Thomas one with Lucy and the gang in it
Lucille Balls wardrobe and hair in this were the height of fashion in 1958/ 59
It was 1957 😂
@@michaelnelson1128 sorry. Your wrong this episode aired in late 1958 …December 😎
All The Lucy Programs Are The Greatest, No Shows Could Ever Even Begin To Be Compared To Them.
Perhaps the first sitcom crossover ever.
There’s actually one from a year earlier - again on the Lucy/Desi Hour. Ann Sothern guest starred as her Private Secretary character, Susie McNamara.
Wow, I adore her coat.
Just Love the episodes that were part of the comedy hour.
You can’t watch them anywhere
Thank you for posting this such fun 🥰👍
They are on dvd
@@dennisstrope8912 thanks 😜👍
They were weak episodes
@@gregwatson8219 They were true classics in a different way.
Desi did hour episodes to fulfill contract. Half hour episodes were no longer original.
Is Danny Thomas’s daughter Angela Cartwright (from Lost in Space)?
Yes, Angela had an early start as a child actress.
Sound of music....she was in, what a Classic film..musical
Look at how kids had to dress back then especially the boys with the suits and hats 😂
got to love Ethel sitting on the suitcase .. rip to all you great people..
I love Lucy's hair like this.
Television actors age so fast!
Not her best imo. She looked better on the Lucy show in the early 60s
Her hair did not look good
It was a wig. By this season she usually wore wigs and face lifting tape, which must have been uncomfortable.
I like her hair in the I love Lucy shows
I always thought little Ricky was the cutest little boy I ever saying and my second grandson looks exactly like him And his personality
I collect lucy stuff
❤ Danny Thomas and Lucille Ball
The kid will mniss the bright lights of Broadway ?!? Broadway Queen indeed.
False advertising. This isn’t I love Lucy it’s Lucy Desi hour big difference you can tell there’s tension between them I’ll stick to I Love Lucy
Agreed! The show was not the same when the Ricardos left New York.
The hour long episodes didn't work as well but this is a pretty good one. The one with Tallulah Bankhead is a classic.
This is an "important" issue
No this is I Love Lucy
@@BMR_BobbyFK no. You're wrong. Try Google
Marjorie Lord was the mother of the actress Anne Archer
Anne Archer, pretty like her mom.
Kinette, I realize you weren't familiar with the Williams Family characters from "Make Room for Daddy/"
The Danny Thomas Show". It was Desilu Productions' third major hit, after "I Love Lucy" and "Our Miss Brooks". "The Danny Thomas Show lasted 11 seasons, far longer than any other Desilu series. It reran for years but, unlike "I Love Lucy", "The Danny Thomas Show" stopped rerunning frequently in the mid-1970's. It is one of the classics of television. I, truly, do not mean this negatively but I could tell you were not familiar with the series. You were born long after it ceased production; your parents probably never talked about it; and you didn't see it on television. I hope you get to see episodes of "The Danny Thomas Show" and consider it one of the best series produced on American television. Thank you for uploading a clip from one of my all-time favorite moments in tv comedy.
Was this the start of Air BNB?🤔
???
Good question?
This show could of run 20 years if Lucy and Desi didn't fall apart 😔
Poor Ethel - whoever gave her that hair style must have disliked her 😑
I think it's cute. It looks like how you might wear your hair if you lived in the country.
@@blugreen123
If you live in the country and are a cocker spaniel.
I liked this hairstyle too on her. To each their own.
@@Clonehalle And she was much longer too
@@julietteyork6293 😂🤣
Anyone know where to stream lucy desi comedy hour? cant find it anywhere. Thanks in advance
what happen to little Rickey dog?
Same thing that happened to Tiger on "The Brady Bunch"........he just........disappeared! LOL!!
@@grease58 The same thing happened to Patty Duke's big shaggy dog on her self-titled show - here today, shagged tomorrow!
Tiger, was hot by a car in the acting lots, so sad!!😢😢just like flipper, dolphin, they abandon him, & he die of abandonment 😢😢
Lucy and Ricky's house was not a country house it was a suburban house.
It was built as one though.
Lucy looks like Ricky's mother
Ha!
Lucille Ball was 7 years older than Desi
@@JonieOnBass Thought it was 6
They always fat shame Ethel on this show.
Probably part of the contract. Lucille Ball was the "beautiful, youthful star" while Vivian was ordered to weigh 30 pounds more than Lucy and had to keep a dowdy appearance so as to not outshine Lucille Ball
@@JonieOnBass Sad but true.
It’s all part of the show people calm down. Shows today do the same damn thing. It’s called COMEDY.
Yes I agree to Tube's of Service
Danny Thomas is a world class jerk in this. I hope he didn’t act like that in his own show.
Agree.
He could be obnoxious in his acting
The nerve of him insinuating the Ricardos to stay in a hotel after Ricky found out the production of his picture was postponed.
I could not remember what happened. I did not think there was ever a second trip to California, but could not remember the details. So the movie was just cancelled or postponed?
So sad Rusty Hammer committed suicide...
Oh no! How sad. I had no idea.
@@julietteyork6293 ck out wikipedia. Same story as some child performers, couldn't find acting work. I am sure it was more than that as well.
@@eloiseockert9233
Agree. Show biz is rough for adults so it must be brutal for children. Any parent should think long and hard before allowing their child to be part of that world.
He committed suicide because you misspelled his name, it's HAMER pronounced "HAY-MER" with one M not HAMMER.
@@rtususian
Thanks for the info but making a joke about his suicide is in appallingly bad taste and a far worse infraction than misspelling his name.
cool was this the last show of the season that was why Lucy and ricky were headed to back to hollywood?
This was the second episode of the season. The Ricardos end up not going to Hollywood in this episode and get stuck in Connecticut with the Williams living in their home.
@@breckrichardson390 gotcha
Chuck u so confused. Hollywood was over 2 seasons back
@@gregwatson8219 gotcha
Happy Holidays Chuck!!
Ricky's still trying to break into movies.
He had no talent except for producing himself
Why in the world would the writers reuse an old storyline again? Ricky went to Hollywood in 1955 to make a movie.
@@mamadouaziza2536 Missing the point
@@timothyleon558
what is the point I missed?
I know they came back from the California trip and back to their tight 3 bedroom apartment. Kinda wierd
Nitpick... but they were leasing their house, not subleasing it. They owned their house. They weren't leasing it like their apartment.
Airbnb existed way back then, nothing new.
I love Lucy was definitely better. Lucy Desi hour was uncomfortable, you could see the tension and mood around them.
Did Danny Thomas had only one child? MARLO Thomas or is she the only one!
Danny Thomas has three kids, Marlo, Tony and Theresa.
I can see why Vivian hated the character of Ethel because I swear that woman cried more and stuck her nose into everyones business
We for the the and to is up temple
What happened? Cutoff.😢
Come on, stop the fake news.
