@@caroldannenberg9778 I’m pretty sure bake sale cakes were a lot cheaper back in 1964. Maybe $1 apiece at most. Even 75¢ back then would be worth $6.44 in today’s money.
@@caroldannenberg9778 OMG, a cake wouldn't cost $5 in 1964!! It probably cost 1/10th that! Gas was only 25¢ a gallon when I was a child in the '60s. We used to have "cake walks" at fairs where people would pay a nickel (5¢) to walk in a circle around the music stage until the music stopped & whoever was at the designated corner when the music stopped won the cake. You'd have to have 100 people in a cake walk to reach $5. That's a lot of people for small towns & rural areas. Most of the world's population now live in cities, but back then, MOST of the U.S. population lived in rural areas, small towns, & farming communities. It was an entirely different world.

Haha it turned my stomach thinking of eating cake with contacts and nails in it 🤢
Funny! Hilarious stuff: Lucy and company.
The best! I loved Tne comedy of Mr. Mooney too!
Poor Ethel lol she had to endure a lot being Lucy's friend..#GottaLoveLucy&Ethel
How silly of Lucy to buy all those cakes!!
Bc she is lucy
cringeeee
It seems to me that the cost of those cakes would be just as much as the contact lenses. Say it was $5 a cake --- that would be 15x5 = $175. If she couldn't afford contacts, how could she afford all those cakes? And she would have had to have the cash on her!
I was the biggest fan of lucy show
It should have said "also starrying Vivian Vance."
I wonder if there are any American sitcoms lasting more than one season these days. (This great sitcom ran for 6 seasons if my memory serves me right.) Greetings from Finland!
This was before they had good ol' lasic eye surgery!!
i love iilove lucy
Lucy: You didn't lost them, you just misplaced it.... 🤣😂😅😆
Lucy and Viv were the best on and off camera 😆❤
Why does the area above that closet door look semi-unpainted?
Must have been a fun show for that time. ❤❤
A door with 8 locks has a doggie door through which 90% of adults could gain entry.
I always notice when a show made in 1964 mentions the Beatles....it happened often then.
i love that is becomes the lucy and viv show... the way it always pretty much was.
I don't know why Vivian was relegated to co-starring status. I mean she came from I Love Lucy too and was just as big of a draw to this show as Lucy was. Should have been "The Lucy & Viv Show" in my opinion, as I personally prefer the Viv episodes.
Probably cuz Lucille owed the studio! 😋
Adam Hellerud Oh no, I'm aware. Still think Viv was much more than a Co-Star.
+Allen Quinn Yeah I am kidding, but alas Lucy is the bigger name.
Allen...I've ALWAYS thought the same thing. Lucy and Viv should have shared similar billing status.
It's a shame we never saw Mrs. Mooney.
*I like how led to just using your imagination. Probably one of the first, of few at the time, that used the ol' "invisible character" in certain sitcoms for generations to come.*
Would been funny
I always imagined Mrs. Mooney as just Gale Gordon minus the moustache.
@@kaykutcher2103 I'll second that!
@@kaykutcher2103 👍😅
Lord have mercy, the utter chaos and zany-ness ,known as the Lucy. Viv always gets it from the red.
That Blue Dress though! 😂😂😂
Lucille Ball was amazing and loved her she and ms. Vivian were amazing and so funny and inspiring us all true blue friends they made me laugh. And cry
It's crazy how they got "younger" and more stylish as the different shows progressed.
Yeah Viv was way less frumpier, and her hair looked a lot better too, better than Ethel Mertz's look.
@@stevarino1989 I love to see it!
Vivian looked a lot younger with that longer hair style here.
