I switched last year to my first IPhone to the 13 pro max and am in love with it! I didn’t plan on making the deep dive but now I have an Apple Watch and air pods as well…the apple ecosystem just works so well together and very easy to use. I wanted to have FaceTime as well and it is worth it. One of my other reasons for switching was because Samsung quit using external storage cards I figured why not just move over to iPhone since it had bigger storage options at the time! Also, the sierra blue color just spoke to me 😄 Enjoy your new iPhone!

Removing the microsd card was a genius move by Samsung. I'm happy to see it's having the intended effect of helping users ditch Samsung products in favor of Apple. I'm saying this as a salty Android user who hates that none of my prospective upgrade choices support microsd cards anymore.

I'm thinking about transitioning to an iPhone after being on Android forever. I agree with everything you said in this video and the biggest thing I'll miss is how customizable android phones are. My last iPhone was like the 4 I think and I jailbroke it to make it more appealing to me. Everyone in my family is on an iPhone so it would just be more convenient as far as messaging and because of where I live almost every android phone I've owned recently has had signal issues for calls and even messaging. Looking foward to see how you get along with it since I'm looking to get the 15 pro max or whatever they decide to call it.

If you are switching to iOS only because of imessage/facetime honestly do not make the mistake. I switched for the same reason and because pixel 7 was the same price as IP13 in my country and I did not want to pay that much for a pixel. However, once you start using iOS you will see what a nightmare is and iMessage & Facetime will not make up for that.

That was interesting I'm glad the algorithm brought this video up. I've no compelling reasons to switch from Android to iPhone as you do but I've been strongly feeling the pull to switch. Perhaps it's just because my roommate has everything apple and every year gets a new iPhone. But this is so not me and I am a loyalist. Same mobile carrier from my first phone in 1998 and Android only. I've had a Moto then Samsungs then One Plus and I'm trying to discern why I feel the urge to try iphone. Maybe I'm bored or maybe it is just the build quality of the IPhone. It does feel really good in the hand. My notebook is an HP I've no tablet and everything I do is on my phone. The 14 hasn't gotten great reviews MKBHD wasn't thrilled for example, so I will follow your journey and see if this will help in my decision.

Since most of the family had iPhones we decided to transfer over to iPhones ourselves. We got the iPhone 14 pro max and the transition was miserable to say the least. We’ve had them about the same amount of time as you. 4 months. I really wish we hadn’t switched. I find everything more difficult. Android let you just clear all open pages with a simple click. Now we’re swiping away one page at a time. There are some neat features but nothing that makes me love it. Hope you’re enjoying it but us not so much lol

OK now this is the last comment and I’m gonna stop and that is if you do go back to Android, just know that you can quickly and easily transfer your files from your Android phone over to your Mac using either free web-based services called snap drop or share drop or you can get a paid app called McDroid that is like 4.99 and it will allow you to quickly and easily send over files to your Mac and vice versa. Also, if you get all of your friends and family on to a third-party messaging app like Telegram or ‎WhatsApp, you can do all of your group messaging there and do all of your video calls there and not have to worry about iMessage or FaceTime. One last thing before I’m out of here is that as great as the iPhone 14 Pro cameras are I have found with the exception of 4K Portrait video. The photos and videos on the new Samsung phones are just as good, if not better, in fact, I was very impressed with my iPhone 14 Pro Max’s video until I got my Galaxy Z-fold 4 and being able to shoot with that pro mode and 8K video is just amazing.

I have everything Apple, but I use a Google Pixel 6A as a phone. I sold my iPhone SE2 that I had as a backup. Lightroom for Android has way more advanced features than the iPad/iOS version. On Android, I can rate, apply and edit info/captions on multiple photos at once, with the iPad I can only do one photo at a time.
With iPad/iOS is also more cumbersome to post photos on Instagram if they are stored on your Google drive.
Google Maps is great, if I look for a location on my iMac in Chrome, that location will be also saved on my Pixel. I also like the USB-C port and charging, although wireless charging may make that obsolete.
But the point you make for Airdrop is so true,
But iMessage/Facetime, couldn't you just be using WhatsApp instead?
Anyway, the thing I am most frustrated with is the crippled Adobe Lightroom for iOS and iPad. it is kind of a dealbreaker. The features have been on the Android version since 2019, and users requested Adobe to enable them on iOS/iPad.
Not sure if it is Adobe's laziness or the OS for iPad/iPhone that prevents it.
Siri kind of sucked I remember, compared to hey google. But I have not used it in a couple of years.

Welcome back to Apple. As another commenter stated, I haven't regretted my move to Apple either. I've been using an iPhone since switching to the 6 Plus, seven years ago. A huge reason for switching was the "planned obsolescence" issue. All smartphone manufacturers use this but I found that Android phones were ridiculously short lived; my last two Android phones worked fine for the first year, and then suddenly battery life dramatically degraded. With the iPhones, I haven't noticed the battery degrading for at least a couple of years. Also with so many Android devices/manufacturers, it's hard to have a consistent Android experience-some devices get the most current upgrades; others suddenly stop after a few updates-it was just too frustrating. That also plays into why I only use Apple computers-with Microsoft and so many other software manufacturers, it's difficult to have a consistent experience resulting in constant crashes and software conflicts. A lot of people get upset that Apple adds features Android has been using for years, but I find that when Apple adopts a feature that is already in use, they do it better than other smartphone manufacturers. I think you'll enjoy the camera, and music app (if you listen to music on your phone). Looking forward to seeing more videos on your transition back to Apple.

I did the opposite, after eleven-year iPhone only, and twenty-two-year Apple everything Apple only, I purchased a Samsung Note 20, it is still my EDC. Also, I switched to Windows as well. Being as I use primarily non-Apple software; I could not understand why I was using an iPhone and Apple computers. There were many times I could not accomplish things on the iPhone whereas my Android friends could, it became frustrating and infuriating. Often, I had to FTP into a site, the iPhone could not accomplish it, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Ask an Android user to get the files for me. Maybe Apple fixed the issue, but too little too late.
Apple and Samsung's ecosystem are about on par, at times one is better than the other, and visa versa. Still the Samsung ecosystem is better than Apple's, we have RCS messages Apple refuses to join the rest of the world messaging apps. Samsung has continuity, they have two types of Airdrop protocols, Nearby Share and Quick Share. There is so much more. The good news with Samsung is you are not locked in.
When I switched to Samsung, wow there is a whole world out outside of Apple's Walled Garden. Yes, I was getting green bubble comments; it was their issue not mine. It is sad iPhone users berate, cajole, intimidate, belittle, Android users. I have seen when a lady texting a man would not date him because his response came back as a green bubble. Another person lost out on a job because of her green bubbles. HR texted her about accepting her and come back for the onboarding interview, however when she texted back they ghosted her and took the offer away. She found out later the person texting her did not like Android users; green bubble folks. Children in schools are ostracized by their peers, and worse for having Android phones. There are hundreds of stories like the afore mentioned. Folks, that type of mentality is unacceptable. For those examples and others, I do not want to be involved with Apple. That all said if you like Apple continue purchasing their products, I have Apple stock so your purchases help me, thank you.

It sucks because there are undeniably superior apps available on the apple app store.

I don't regret it one bit! It took a bit to get used to the different gestures and the keyboard differences but I think it was pretty fast before it seemed like second nature! I did however buy into the whole ecosystem and in the past year have bought an apple watch, airpods, and even a couple ipads and a macbook air.. I don't regret it though because they just make their products to work so well together and I feel you get the best experience that way in the long run. 😂

I use a USB flash drive to back things up from my phone and laptop. I’ll admit I do miss airdrop but there are some workarounds. iPhones don’t have split screen, no native stylus support, no iPhones with Headphone jack or expandable storage, no side loading apps, and no desktop mode. I’ve been using Android phones since the Droid Incredible, currently using a Pixel 4a 5G. As for computers, I’ve been using Windows based PCs for decades, I like the convenience of building my own and possibility of just replacing parts if they break down or need to upgrade. For file transfers from my phone to my desktop, I just connect my usb cable and transfer the file from my phone over to whatever folder on my PC. For tablets, I’ve used several different Android one and never liked it much, for that I’ve been using iPads. Maybe the upcoming Pixel tablet with its dock will change my mind.

Not looking forward to the Apple ecosystem? Will you have a choice? I purchased my first iPhone back in February. Lots of my favorite android apps are not available on IOS. Some are but don't work the same because the app developers have limited access to the IOS code due to Apple's proprietary nature. But the most disappointing part of my new phone is the terrible screen sensitivity issues. I double and triple tap so many times it drives me crazy....and yes I have used the what sensitivity adjustments there are on the phone. The Apple Store geniuses said the phone is fine and it must be a "software issue" meaning that they didn't take the time to make IOS more compatible. Great screen, good cameras and I like the silence switch on the side but in my opinion android beats IOS hands down. I'm going back.

Still very happy with my android specifically samsung note series. Just recently replaced my note 9 to s22 ultra with fixed max storage of 512gb and has the wireless charger like magsafe plus 4 camera. S22 ultra is the combination of s22 plus and note 10. Only thing i don't like about the upgrade is the headset jack and extendible storage micro sd card no longer available. All wireless access. But i bought an adapter to handle the duo headset option and usb-c. I too had 1 iphone and macbooks but still prefer my android and windows os. Anyway legit reasons you have for the switch. Also heard recently that iPhone is switching to usb-c. Boils down to user preference. Good luck with transition :)

I am so glad to hear and see someone upgrading their phone rather rarely. I do that too, and often times, reviews can be a bit unrelateable because they always compare models from a year before, meanwhile i like to compare the latest model with my current phone that i use for several years. That seems much more realistic, because people in my surroundings dont switch their phones year after year.
Also, i was a person that got her first smartphone in 2015. and i've had an iPhone since then (6,6s, now xs). I am very satisfied with every one i had and i'm planning on upgrading to the 15 pro when it releases. I only now notice the difference in performances from the newest phones.

    Hey,
I'm about to switch to iPhone 14 Pro too, but 256GB version (on the website they wrote by 128GB max Quality of Videos or something like that is not allowed. Because of the size of pics and videos I think 256GB or up will be the best choice).
I had only android phones (Samsung, Huawei, LG) yet, but all of the phones had quality issues (screen issues, ratteling something inside, heat problems etc.)
Even my 1,5 years old Samsungs screen already has a burning out LED-s and its camera makes ratteling noises, what is pretty annoying for that pricetag it had.
I really loved my 2nd gen iPod Shuffle and 4th gen iPod Nano, I was never disappointed with them and I hope it will be the same with the iPhone 14 Pro.

One tip regarding shooting on iPhone: you don’t really need airdrop unless you really need to edit the footage right after you shoot it. You can use iCloud photo, it will sync all the footage in your photo album to all your Apple device including iPad, Mac, and Apple TV in background automatically (you can even set it to only sync when connected to Wi-Fi to save some data).
Also, it will save some storage on your device because it will only save a base quality footage on your device and put all the full quality version on cloud.
The down side is that iCloud cost extra.

I switched with the iPhone 12! Now on 14pro max ! My pixel 6 is a mess. I won’t ever go back to android. One of the big things to consider is that Samsung does not update the operating system to the latest android software, which means when a new android OS gets released your apps are not going to be working as they should because you are not running the correct operating system. Considering that Samsung charges more than apple for top of the line phones and they don’t update the OS constantly like apple is outrageous. If your phone breaks, you can always go to an Apple store for $13 a month with AppleCare. Your phone is covered with theft and loss. Samsung uses a asurion which is third party refurbished phones which usually are terrible. Stick with iOS you’ will soon forget about android all together, especially when you decide to render a video on your iPhone.
One more thing airdrop, iMessage, integration something that android sucks at lol

Switching back to google. I switched to an iphone12 pro max, a few years ago, and immediately found that what I think we care about, the cameras and lenses, seemed to be worse than the pixel 3 I had at the time. Unfortunately, Google killed the pixel 3 with updates that made it virtually unusable. Since then, I've become a content creator, of a sort, and have just switched back to a Pixel fold for a couple reasons, mainly due to screen real estate. I will say, the phone's camera is also better, but this time, we're a few years ahead, and my iphone is older, so there is that. I use Google Drive for my channel, and apple makes it super difficult to move files to Drive, compared to the pixel fold when I want to do it quickly. That is probably the number one complaint that led me to leave the iphone.

One other thing if you have any other friends or family that use Android phones, make sure that you both get on a third-party messaging app because any videos that you send from your iPhone to their Android phone Apple is absolutely going to destroy. Apparently they do this on purpose to try and encourage people to move to iPhones and not have Android, but they literally compress the video and destroy it so bad that it’s almost, I shouldn’t say almost it’s absolutely unusable, so grab a third-party messaging app something like Telegram or ‎WhatsApp even Facebook messenger they will all help but just know sending video from an iPhone to an Android phone is a no go however, you can do it the other way around you can send a video from Android to iOS, because Android does not destroy the video.

Tbh it’s valid. I switched to the Apple ecosystem because of my iPad using it for almost 2 years for school and work, and how functional it is to use Siri as a daily assistant over google. I also see my email notifications sooner than my Samsung android phone, which sometimes misses the notifications. Then I got the iPhone 13 two weeks ago. The FaceTime abilities and messaging fun that Facebook messenger can’t match, track your phone, Apple Maps works just fine, and even remembers where you parked your car with your iPhone. And Black Friday, landed a base model M1 Pro laptop to do video editing with fast export times over my Thinkpad with an 8th gen i7 that takes wayyy too long to export. I just need the Apple Watch and some Airtags to complete my setup. Other than that, I do feel it’s a worthy setup that I wished I ventured in sooner. Android is great with more apps on the Play Store and you can torrent cooler apps. And the ability to add a microSd card to most android phones to expand storage, with also great camera quality at a sub $500 or less price than what an iPhone would cost double. But it is a worthy ecosystem that blends better for ease of lifestyle with functionality. I really enjoy it! So for those android users, trust me, it’s good to have an ecosystem that can make life more a conversation with Siri. Once you get used to how to use the system, you start getting creative!
