@Neurodisco77. The drummer is Duane Cleveland - one of four US musicians that were recruited for the tour. He's also on the videos from Don't Stand Me Down. He was replaced before the tour when Tim Dancy suddenly became available. I'm the organist in the silly shirt by the way - well it was 1985! It's funny how Kevin, Billy and Helen were berated for their outdated 'image' back then, but now looking at this video it's everyone else (including most of the band) who look outdated.
Thanks, the 1985 vision of the band is very rare. Sadly the album failed. They're on it here. Absolute genius, a very rare quality they had at the peak.
@MrDrewcarr Mick Bolton, organist in this session and pianist on the "Don't stand me down" track "The Waltz", gave me the right answer to your question. Come back in this page if you wanna read it
@MrDrewcarr I thought he was Tim Dancy, because he played almost all the drum parts on the "Don't stand me down" album, but he is a famous Afro-american drummer. From what I managed to see, the drummer is not black, so he must be Crusher Green, who drummed on "Listen to this" album version. I have no other informations about him though
Oh yeah I just saw you at the end! You looked like a member of ELO lol! (I love ELO just a little less than I love Dexy's Midnight Runners for the record)
What a strange mutation..the songs delivery didnt make sense to me at the time, but seeing the video I can see it was a throwback to Kevins punk days..thw whole thing has a sneering delivery and punk energy about it..with contemporary disco beat...confusing times for dexys ?
One of my favorite recordings of the last, best 80s line-up - everyone else looks dated and silly, but Kevin, Helen, and Billy look timeless + play like their lives depended on it, with total conviction.
Is it just me or does Billy mime that he's playing guitar? The way he strums constantly but there's never any sound of rythum guitar coming across in the track, either live or on the record. Just sayin' Still my fave Dexys track though. Watch him in all the band videos, same same.
No one ever points out how cool Helen was and what the hell was Billy doing with that guitar? The three of them will never be equaled. BTW what happened to the original video? One of the best things I ever saw.
I'm pretty sure Billy's guitar isn't even plugged in. If you watch his playing and match it up with the audio it seems the only guitar is coming from the guy at the back with the bassist.
@mickbolton1 Thank you very much for this answer. You're right about the hidden propriety of 1985 Dexys'look and the outdateness of the audience one, but I think you had a nice shirt in this performance. I have a similar one too, because I like that kind. I own the original vynil album too.

Possible from one of the most under rate albums ever,
I remember sitting in front of the TV in '85 thinking "this is horrible!". I was too young at the time to understand just how terrific this is.
A very underrated and underappreciated classic!!
kevin rowland was a class act he needed to reconise class beside him
This is just brilliant
What a great programme The Tube was on a Friday evening
This song as well as the one about the teams that meet in cafes is proof, that Soul music can survive into the 80's, as well as the 60's and the 70's.
Fearsome passion unleashed in style
Spine tingling. I feel as blown away watching again as I did all that time ago. Dexys at their awesome best. Kevin is one in a billion.
Massive dexys fan this song is top 3
Kev's cocky rooster dance at 3:00 is hilarious! What a fucking star.
mick u was great on dont stand me down and helped 2 make it my fav album of all time..
Nice one. Thanks for uploading.
What a performance
Simply cannot wait for the new LP. Thanks for this. KOB.
Some class Dexy's uploads here joe. Cheers!
Brilliant song
Just awesome
who gives a performance like this
Pity for the lossy audio quality,
because Billy Adams' guitar is quite good
and mixed on the front in this performance
Thanks, the 1985 vision of the band is very rare. Sadly the album failed. They're on it here. Absolute genius, a very rare quality they had at the peak.

How good were this band ?
Im 57 and dexys never disapointed
¡Come on Kevin !
Sort of weird seeing Billy with short hair playing an electric guitar lol
What a strange mutation..the songs delivery didnt make sense to me at the time, but seeing the video I can see it was a throwback to Kevins punk days..thw whole thing has a sneering delivery and punk energy about it..with contemporary disco beat...confusing times for dexys ?
wow! and everyone these days thinks arcade fire are good...
my right ear said 'Eh?"
Is this a version of that Dylan song or a straight rip off?
Awful indeed. Where's Vincent Crane?
love dexys but sorry guys i just dont get this one at all, just dont like it !!!!
The audio is bad
ivy league style
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN...FUCKING AMAZING.
One of my favorite recordings of the last, best 80s line-up - everyone else looks dated and silly, but Kevin, Helen, and Billy look timeless + play like their lives depended on it, with total conviction.
Performing from the soul amazing performer nobody can compare
The lack of any clear shots of Vincent Crane on the piano here is frustrating, because he sounds terrific.
I found this video hoping to see any of Vincent Crane. Only glimpses. Oh well, better than nothing.
Vincent Crane is dead
Thanks for the upload it's one of their best, pity about sound quality.
Excellent! Check out the chicken dance at 3,00!

Cookin soul music. Killer song
