The way KR is continually overlooked by the music industry and written off, leads me to think that Russel Brand is more popular. What he and Dexys have contributed on a consistent basis, it’s criminal that they haven’t received any recognition.
A performance of great passion and verve. Takes a while to grow, but once it does this is nothing short of magnificent. Sadly destined to be enjoyed by the fortunate few. This is definitely one of the great overlooked albums.
I bought the LP in '85 , took a while but I got it, been playing it on and off ever since. Never seen this vid! This also is probably my favourite track by DMR.
Well I'm certainly grateful for being one of those few. I've been surprised over the years, when memory and opportunity presents, having played one of the more obscure dexys tune, how many are familiar. Not to say that all claims of Kev and ensemble being underrated aren't valid. A true lyrical and musical feast.
One of the greatest underatted tracks from Kevin only recognised later on but not by us his loyal and devoted followers we understood how special it was Kevin rowland you are and always will be a genius part of my life amongst other things
Same here, although I did already love this song. Just watched the film, loved it. And wanted to keep listening to this song in particular, it's so beautiful
23 people are out of their tiny minds. Kevin & Dexy's are in the Pantheon. Don't stand me down attained legendary status immediately upon release late summer 1985 (on cassette!). Over 35 years later it still sounds as good today as it did back then (the song, not my tape). Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Beautiful catholic song from this Irish genius before he went nuts....also O'Hara's violin and voice are top...probably the best Dexy's song together with the majestic What Shes Like
I think this album is a work of genius. Nothing like this had been before and not much has since. I was only a kid when I bought it and I remember being normal sure at the time. About four years after it's release I went back to it when my dad had just died completely because if this song.. I then played the album over and over and just got it.. it's class. That's it
This album is insane! The first time i heard it i thought, hmm, not that great, second listen-hang on, its growing on me now, third listen-wow! This is actually incredible! It just gets better and better every time you play it!👌
what a delicate and beautifully delivered vocal from Kevin. love the languid pace of this song, really adds to the nostalgic feel. And love the touches of country. A beautifully crafted song.
One of the greatest songs ever, easily, but also this might be my favourite music video ever. So simple and elegant, Kevin wondering around those beautiful sights and the wonderfully shot band shots. The key is that its shot on film, makes it look impossibly stunning
Been a fan/follower for 40 years, played a big part in my life, they should build a statue of him in Wolvo’ though I’d much prefer it if it was in Brum ...
Whenever the algorithm sends this song my way, I cease everything else and focus. So close to perfect. Understated and yet packed with emotion. Video also meshes so well with the song. Frickin genius.
I play your songs every weekend, I love them all but I do have a favourite one it's called old 😙🤗 no one has a gorgeous singing voice like you so keep up the good work 🤗😘
Will somebody please remaster this, the audio is waaaaay too low. One of Dexys greatest songs and a wonderful visual of Kevin's Irish background. Bom bom bom satellite of love xxx
This should have been the first single of "DSMD"! Maybe with an edited intro to fit the single format but still, we had such lame ballads on the top of the charts in 1985, this song could have been a breath of fresh air... As for the B-side, an edited "Until I Believe in My Soul", another song destined to be a hit.
Where he came from is Crossmolina, the mountain is Nephin. Crossmolina should put up a sculpture or plaue for Kevin's musical achievements, i have asked!
Probably underrated and so little-known because it was such a radical departure from the wildly popular Come On Eileen and the band image associated with that period in Dexy's history. I recall an interview, at the time of the release of this album, with Kevin Rowland where he described his previous work, and pop music in general, as "Children's music". Not the best way to retain your fan base. Nice song and video but no one was listening or watching at the time. Maybe it's time will come as these old under-appreciated albums often do.
don't stand me down was destined to become a great lost album. a heart wrenching tune, too cruelly overlooked.
The way KR is continually overlooked by the music industry and written off, leads me to think that Russel Brand is more popular. What he and Dexys have contributed on a consistent basis, it’s criminal that they haven’t received any recognition.
Kevin Rowland at his Celtic soul finest - Rave on Kev. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

It really is "The Knowledge of Beauty"
Total genius ………words fail me with how great a song this truly is -God bless you Kevin , for telling it like it was /is .
Such a brave and criminally underrated band. Too many people know them only from the hits, but there's so much hidden depth to them.
One of the greatest underatted tracks from Kevin only recognised later on but not by us his loyal and devoted followers we understood how special it was Kevin rowland you are and always will be a genius part of my life amongst other things
Love the violin lady
The souvenir part 2 brought me here. Thankfully.. Better late than never!
Same here, although I did already love this song. Just watched the film, loved it. And wanted to keep listening to this song in particular, it's so beautiful
Wonderful soundtrack!

Magnificent engagement with Irish soul of the band leaves me shaken and moved

Well said. For different reasons, it's always been there since '85. All the best...
This album is insane! The first time i heard it i thought, hmm, not that great, second listen-hang on, its growing on me now, third listen-wow! This is actually incredible! It just gets better and better every time you play it!👌
I am in heaven listening to this Kevin rowland fantastic you pull at my soul directing me only you can through your art
He looks so handsome here..i never noticed that he has such beautiful eyes ❤
The opening bars do something to me, theyre truly magical. This song really soothes my heart.
The greatest unsung heroes of music. DMR! The greatest. I am privileged.
what a delicate and beautifully delivered vocal from Kevin. love the languid pace of this song, really adds to the nostalgic feel. And love the touches of country. A beautifully crafted song.
Yes I feel all of that too. Thank you for expressing it for me! ❤
Kevin is a soul full of such beauty full passion x
This is so good. The buildup is so nice to hear. This song takes me somewhere else, to my dreams
Just the most perfect album. A work of absolute genius. 🙏❤️
Beautiful..Come home Kevin son come home where you belong....☘️🇮🇪☘️
Looking at Kevin in this performance, he is 100% all the way, "the best he could do" as he said after recording this fabulous piece of an album.
Don’t Stand Me Down is up there with the best.
@@andysibley1 Ain't it? ;-)
such a beautiful track Kevin so underrated but not by his loyal fans who have craved more brilliant timeless tracks to this day
He always comes back with something ......every few years he gives us something new. I love this man and his music.
One of the greatest songs ever, easily, but also this might be my favourite music video ever. So simple and elegant, Kevin wondering around those beautiful sights and the wonderfully shot band shots. The key is that its shot on film, makes it look impossibly stunning
agree with everything you wrote dude....Peace and Film. xx
Location is North Mayo, Ireland, I believe
@@meealan that's where he comes from..
It really is very beautiful to watch. I'm so glad, because sometimes beautiful songs are given an unworthy video (imo!)
This song Is scary beautiful
That voice rocks my soul
criminally underrated and under-heard album and song
I just love Dexy's. So sad I've never been able to see them live. Breathtaking video
Been a fan/follower for 40 years, played a big part in my life, they should build a statue of him in Wolvo’ though I’d much prefer it if it was in Brum ...

The band I return to, over and over.
A magnificent track from a truly brilliant album... who cares how many units it shipped. Its a towering work of Art!
Really beautiful. I Imagine whoever saw this back In 1985 were scratching their heads

Brilliant. I need a SUPERDELUXE of THAT album (Kevin!). Beautiful!

I play your songs every weekend, I love them all but I do have a favourite one it's called old 😙🤗 no one has a gorgeous singing voice like you so keep up the good work 🤗😘
I hope Kevin knows just how much his music is loved by so many people and how it digs deep into our souls. Thank you DMR.
Utterly magnificent
Missed this song the first time round. I like it.
Beautiful :) Years ahead of its time.
Just brilliant!
Always a fan. This is their best

Remarkable.
Let the record show
*Growin' old feelingS* s2
Marvellous!
Vincent Crane on the grand piano! Wonder how he ended up with the Dexys
Where he came from is Crossmolina, the mountain is Nephin. Crossmolina should put up a sculpture or plaue for Kevin's musical achievements, i have asked!
I figured the video was filmed in Ireland!
Come back to Crossmolins & Lahardane soon Kevin!
Muito bom
Why is the sound so low!!
I think the sound editing could have been better on this album, the soft parts are a bit too soft.
Oh wow. Wow wow wow. Nearly 37 years late and I could kick myself
I say top class
Forever interesting
I love the bom-bom-boms borrowed from Lou Reed's Satellite of Love. Lou would not have minded.
Goodness me. Beautiful .
👏👏👏

Sublime
I assume that’s Kevin’s mum & dad standing beside him?
Are those Kevin's parents?
Rowland 4 Sam!!!!!!!!!
This is SO QUIET! I can barely hear it.

Why don't you put come on Eileens video on or let people review the song you spoil sport. Come on Kevin!
