i think the best thing about outer banks is that it’s teenagers on an island, doing whatever with no rules, no parents, no phones or distractions. it’s kinda just like, chill. and that’s probably the most appealing thing, to me anyway
yeah I like it!!! I’m in the middle of the second season and I can’t stop watching!! the kids are all so close and more of a family than they are with their own parents. I especially love Kiaras character and how she stands up to everyone saying she’ll always be a pogue. Im always happy when they’re all together living life and having fun adventures
you gotta watch the whole thing. in my opinion, it's like a MUCH better riverdale. outer banks sticks to one plot and one end goal throughout the whole first season instead of focusing on 30 different plot lines that don't make sense. also, the character development is pretty good for a first season. each character gets decent exposure/screen time that allows us viewers to see why they do the things they do, their insecurities, and what they like/dislike. in my opinion, i think it's a solid first season. i'm not saying it's perfect, but i think the reason why people love it so much is because it makes sense due to the focused plot, it happens in the summer which is why they have all this time to do it, it has decent character development, and it's an action packed mystery! i wish the actors were actual teenagers but that's hollywood for you.

Fergus Tynan that’s what i’m worried about too. riverdale had a lot of potential and then it got really confusing with all the different plots and the outrageous and extremely inappropriate material, like betty’s strip dancing 🥴
something that rly brought the show together for me was their chemistry on and off screen. the fact that they’re actually close irl rly made me enjoy the show even more. i also love the fact that some of the cast are quarantined together because these friendships off screen are not something you see often in the tv industry and a lot of times there’s tension between cast members, which makes everything feel more fake and not as enjoyable.
about kiara... 1- she’s not rich. she’s like the richest of pogues, but she’s not a kook tho / 2- she hangs out w the boys because she wants to. we get to see her and sarah become friends again (and their fight had a legit reason too, it wasn’t about a boy for instance). we get to understand kiara and her personality. she’s an awesome character

It's funny because Sarah's little "pre-teen" sister in the show is actually 17 which is older than the main characters are supposed to be. Let that sink in.
@@armaniabrams3791 The ending is hardcore setting up for a second season tho, them being on their way to Nassau where the gold conveniently was shipped. Pretty sure if there is gonna be a second season, the others will find their way to Nassau as well, and it will be a movie about getting the stuff back to Outer Banks and clearing their names. I for one liked the ending in the way that it leaves just enough open ends for a second season, and didn't just go in the cliché "everyone's together and happy in the end, cops get the gold and the bad guy, and life goes on as normal".
I thought it was bad. Bad guys get super lucky, good guys make terrible decisions, throw in a bit of cringe. Watch breaking bad, and you will know the true meaning of a great show. Very realistic writing. E.g bad guys dont always get lucky, great plot, unpredictable episodes, amazing characters, watch it

i actually binge-watched the series and it's great! The first episodes are the worst, it gets much better toward the middle and the end. I highly recommend it, and the cast is super active on Instagram, and they're actually friends in real life because of the series.
As a teenager, I don’t get bothered when non-teens play teenagers, I get it, at the end of the day it’s the cheeped alternative. What does bother me tho is when those shows does a whole “what it’s like being a teen in 2020” thing bc not a single person working on the show knowers the answer. With outer banks, they never tried to do that, they never tried to show what it’s like for teens these days. Idk, I just found that rlly nice for a change, instead of all these adults trying to tell me what it’s like being a teen now.
honestly same, chase explained that minors have time restrictions and it makes it harder to film with them and he said that the directors tried to use 16 year olds but they couldn't find anyone that fit the role.

It's pretty obvious he keeps out important plot-moving details in order to not spoil the show completely. He basically covers what could be written in a descriptive summary, nothing more. He describes how the movie evolves, but not WHY the movie evolves.
I'm going to be very honest I went into this show not expecting much it looked sooo cliche like some show that should've been made in the 2000s but honestly I gotta say I actually really enjoyed the show.The whole cast is great and get along well
Haha I had your exact thought process before watching it. I honestly thought it was gonna be some Riverdale type crap that got wayyyy more hype than it deserved, but I finished the season in three days haha. It might be a bit cliche in parts, but overall I loved the chemistry between everyone and the show was put together really well in my opinion
Alex should really watch the rest of the show, its hands down the best show ive seen in a while. The way the mystery develops & how they all play each role is amazing.

I don’t think it will happen that way. The writers already has a plan for multiple seasons before season 1 was completely finished. Stranger Things had season 2 in mind when writing season 1. It’s a great example of how much having a plan gives a show a good chance of success.
i don’t really think it’ll go this way for obx- i know that the write, jonas pate, has kids that are very invested in social media and all of the stars are very active on social media and talking to fans. he’s very likely to take fans input on where they want the show to go / ideas for the season
It isn’t an award winning show, I mean there are several plot holes and it is cheesy but it is REALLY addictive and captivating. Plus the atmosphere and the friend group dynamic are quite unique and wholesome. Really need a season 2.
I'll be honest, I felt like it was a little all over the place in the first few episodes with the atmosphere and mood of it but then it really grows into its own.

Lol as someone who grew up in NC whose parents own a vacation house off the outer banks....this show isn't too far off. There are definitely two communities that form: the kids who live there year-round and work a job or two in the summer, and kids who just spend their summers there driving around their golf carts and playing tennis. But we don't have stupid names like "Pogues" and "Kooks" like we're in the Outsiders, nor really interact with each other that much. No fights, etc.

I honestly don’t really care about the whole age thing I watched the entire show and it never really bothered me at all. I think the actors really did a good job of portraying teenagers and I would rather a more experienced actor than a young 16 year old kid and them being unable to play the role right. Just my opinion 🙃🙂

@@nendu4316 When I was 16, strangers would think I was in my early to mid 20's. It was the same with lots of other people within that age group of 16 to 18 where I went to high school. Of course it's not the most common thing in the world but you'll definitely see it. Not only that, but being an adult doesn't necessarily mean you can't get messed up by someone much younger, shit like that happens all the time in the real world. Not that it happens much in the show anyways. The only adult that they actually ended up kicking the shit out of was the drug dealer but that was after they all ganged up on him and another time when Pope caught him off guard. I wouldn't count JJ beating his dad down because it was clear that he was under the influence of alcohol. Other than those two instances, the teenagers are always getting their asses handed to them.

John never kicked the shit out of Ward either. He escaped and then Ward stabbed himself to make it appear that John attacked him. Also with JJ and the drug dealer. JJ only took him out after he caught him off guard. Don't forget that Barry already knocked him down and was turning his attention towards Pope, who caught Rafe off guard with a golf club. It was then that JJ grabbed his legs and threw him on the ground, disorienting him. It happens in fights. It's not an uncommon thing. I'm also not saying that it makes sense that everyone in the show looks older, I'm saying that it does happen. I was one of them. John being 16 is believable, but every single person being 16 even though they look older? That's not believable. Pope was the only one who actually looked younger compared to everyone else in the show. The whole foster care thing makes sense too. Being 6 foot doesn't mean you can't get put in foster care lol. There's lots of 16 year olds that are taller than 6 foot. I'm going to assume you don't live in either America or Canada. Cause that's something that is in fact common in both of those countries.

i actually really like the show but the whole time i thought they were in their late teens/early 20’s but then i found out they were the same age as me and that didn’t sit right with me.. they should’ve aged them up to be in college like i thought they were, it wouldn’t have affected the plot in a major way. instead of Pope worrying about getting a scholarship, they could’ve made him worried about losing it, and instead of John B getting threatened to go into foster care bc his dad is missing, they could’ve made it so that he would lose his house, etc. they could’ve found so many ways to age them up because the fact that they’re in high school seems so incorrect to me.. their age is one of the only complaints i have edit: i don’t wanna reply to everyone but literally all i’m saying is it would be a lot better if they were graduated. college age. as in 18/19, that’s literally a 2-3 year difference. also they don’t even have to be in college, even just making them seniors would be better bc 16 seems way too young and it would fit better if they were older.

I still think Hollywood and the film industry still have a long way to go when it comes to trusting in younger actors for 'serious' tv and film (im excluding like kids shows). For instance, stranger things and the IT movie would NOT be nearly as successful if they cast older people to play kids. I love outer banks, and I think the actors did an amazing job it' just aggravating that the film industry LOVE playing on teenage years, romanticising the trials and tribulations of high school and growing up but very rarely use authentic teenagers that other teenagers like us can actually relate to.

I watched the Outer Banks the moment it came out and I've been following everything ever since. ( Watching every interview , every insta live , every post from them ) .. It feels so long but it's just came out and it's getting so popular so fast it's crazy. I'm already addicted to this show , I want season 2 to come out asap. 😭

Even though “Never have I ever” does have a lot of weird moments I still feel like the Show owns the cringe because it’s not trying to be super serious. Also I really appreciate that they finally casted an actress who actually looks like a 17-18 year old Indian Girl!
It’s finally good to have some representation. And not where they have a very strong Indian accent and only care about getting As. And I love the father character. It’s weird watching one of your videos, when you’ve actually seen the show. There’s so much that you gloss over, yet you still get the main point across. It’s pretty cool.
I started watching Outer Banks a few days ago with no conviction: I thought it would be a boring teen drama and that I'll get bored and I'll not watch it completely so it was with Locke and Key - a very disappointing adaptation of a brilliant dark comic - but ultimately I am very nicely disappointed. it's so addictive! also I love so much Pope and JJ's bromance.
Have you watched On My Block on netflix? The first couple episodes are a little slow to introduce everything and get the show going, but I feel the same way about that show as I do with Outer Banks, both shows surprised me, they're not typical teenage dramas or boring. Definitely check it out if you haven't, it has three seasons so far, the episodes are only like 30 minutes, but it's hilarious and has a lot of good plotlines too.
I wasn’t expecting to like this show as much as I had. It’s a teen show so it’s a bit cheesy & somewhat predictable but the plot is still good/interesting/provides enough twists that I binged both seasons in 1 day & am hooked. The best part about the show are probably the characters & their relationships that definitely grow on the audience - I didn’t love John B & Sarah at first but they grew on me, same with Pope but ended up loving all the Pogues. I personally feel like Ward, JJ & Rafe’s character plots do a good job of keeping the show interesting + their actors gave some of the best performances on the show, notably in season 2. I hope obx can get a couple more seasons out after the 3rd one.
I’m so scared that this show will end up like Riverdale, an amazing first season that got everybody hooked, but all the next seasons just get worse and worse

I especially love Kiaras character and how she stands up to everyone saying she’ll always be a pogue. Im always happy when they’re all together living life and having fun adventures
you gotta watch the whole thing. in my opinion, it's like a MUCH better riverdale. outer banks sticks to one plot and one end goal throughout the whole first season instead of focusing on 30 different plot lines that don't make sense. also, the character development is pretty good for a first season. each character gets decent exposure/screen time that allows us viewers to see why they do the things they do, their insecurities, and what they like/dislike. in my opinion, i think it's a solid first season. i'm not saying it's perfect, but i think the reason why people love it so much is because it makes sense due to the focused plot, it happens in the summer which is why they have all this time to do it, it has decent character development, and it's an action packed mystery! i wish the actors were actual teenagers but that's hollywood for you.

something that rly brought the show together for me was their chemistry on and off screen. the fact that they’re actually close irl rly made me enjoy the show even more. i also love the fact that some of the cast are quarantined together because these friendships off screen are not something you see often in the tv industry and a lot of times there’s tension between cast members, which makes everything feel more fake and not as enjoyable.

Pretty sure if there is gonna be a second season, the others will find their way to Nassau as well, and it will be a movie about getting the stuff back to Outer Banks and clearing their names. I for one liked the ending in the way that it leaves just enough open ends for a second season, and didn't just go in the cliché "everyone's together and happy in the end, cops get the gold and the bad guy, and life goes on as normal".

i actually binge-watched the series and it's great! The first episodes are the worst, it gets much better toward the middle and the end. I highly recommend it, and the cast is super active on Instagram, and they're actually friends in real life because of the series.

I don’t think it will happen that way. The writers already has a plan for multiple seasons before season 1 was completely finished. Stranger Things had season 2 in mind when writing season 1. It’s a great example of how much having a plan gives a show a good chance of success.
i don’t really think it’ll go this way for obx- i know that the write, jonas pate, has kids that are very invested in social media and all of the stars are very active on social media and talking to fans. he’s very likely to take fans input on where they want the show to go / ideas for the season

If we’re talking about the Outer Banks in North Carolina... *dude I’ve been there and as random as this show is it’s true-either people have two huge houses or live really close to the sea in a small bungalow or open-set apartment*
Lol as someone who grew up in NC whose parents own a vacation house off the outer banks....this show isn't too far off. There are definitely two communities that form: the kids who live there year-round and work a job or two in the summer, and kids who just spend their summers there driving around their golf carts and playing tennis. But we don't have stupid names like "Pogues" and "Kooks" like we're in the Outsiders, nor really interact with each other that much. No fights, etc.

Of course it's not the most common thing in the world but you'll definitely see it. Not only that, but being an adult doesn't necessarily mean you can't get messed up by someone much younger, shit like that happens all the time in the real world. Not that it happens much in the show anyways. The only adult that they actually ended up kicking the shit out of was the drug dealer but that was after they all ganged up on him and another time when Pope caught him off guard. I wouldn't count JJ beating his dad down because it was clear that he was under the influence of alcohol. Other than those two instances, the teenagers are always getting their asses handed to them.
@@nendu4316 I don't know where you're from or what kind of life you have, but an orphaned kid who has survived on his own or in bad conditions can easily outsmart an adult that has lived a life of comfort and luxury. John never kicked the shit out of Ward either. He escaped and then Ward stabbed himself to make it appear that John attacked him. Also with JJ and the drug dealer. JJ only took him out after he caught him off guard. Don't forget that Barry already knocked him down and was turning his attention towards Pope, who caught Rafe off guard with a golf club. It was then that JJ grabbed his legs and threw him on the ground, disorienting him. It happens in fights. It's not an uncommon thing.
I'm also not saying that it makes sense that everyone in the show looks older, I'm saying that it does happen. I was one of them. John being 16 is believable, but every single person being 16 even though they look older? That's not believable. Pope was the only one who actually looked younger compared to everyone else in the show. The whole foster care thing makes sense too. Being 6 foot doesn't mean you can't get put in foster care lol. There's lots of 16 year olds that are taller than 6 foot. I'm going to assume you don't live in either America or Canada. Cause that's something that is in fact common in both of those countries.

i actually really like the show but the whole time i thought they were in their late teens/early 20’s but then i found out they were the same age as me and that didn’t sit right with me.. they should’ve aged them up to be in college like i thought they were, it wouldn’t have affected the plot in a major way. instead of Pope worrying about getting a scholarship, they could’ve made him worried about losing it, and instead of John B getting threatened to go into foster care bc his dad is missing, they could’ve made it so that he would lose his house, etc. they could’ve found so many ways to age them up because the fact that they’re in high school seems so incorrect to me.. their age is one of the only complaints i have
edit: i don’t wanna reply to everyone but literally all i’m saying is it would be a lot better if they were graduated. college age. as in 18/19, that’s literally a 2-3 year difference. also they don’t even have to be in college, even just making them seniors would be better bc 16 seems way too young and it would fit better if they were older.

I still think Hollywood and the film industry still have a long way to go when it comes to trusting in younger actors for 'serious' tv and film (im excluding like kids shows). For instance, stranger things and the IT movie would NOT be nearly as successful if they cast older people to play kids.
I love outer banks, and I think the actors did an amazing job it' just aggravating that the film industry LOVE playing on teenage years, romanticising the trials and tribulations of high school and growing up but very rarely use authentic teenagers that other teenagers like us can actually relate to.

It’s finally good to have some representation. And not where they have a very strong Indian accent and only care about getting As. And I love the father character. I started watching Outer Banks a few days ago with no conviction: I thought it would be a boring teen drama
and that I'll get bored and I'll not watch it completely so it was with Locke and Key - a very disappointing adaptation of a brilliant dark comic
- but ultimately I am very nicely disappointed. it's so addictive! also I love so much Pope and JJ's bromance.

Have you watched On My Block on netflix? The first couple episodes are a little slow to introduce everything and get the show going, but I feel the same way about that show as I do with Outer Banks, both shows surprised me, they're not typical teenage dramas or boring. Definitely check it out if you haven't, it has three seasons so far, the episodes are only like 30 minutes, but it's hilarious and has a lot of good plotlines too.
I wasn’t expecting to like this show as much as I had. It’s a teen show so it’s a bit cheesy & somewhat predictable but the plot is still good/interesting/provides enough twists that I binged both seasons in 1 day & am hooked. The best part about the show are probably the characters & their relationships that definitely grow on the audience - I didn’t love John B & Sarah at first but they grew on me, same with Pope but ended up loving all the Pogues. I personally feel like Ward, JJ & Rafe’s character plots do a good job of keeping the show interesting + their actors gave some of the best performances on the show, notably in season 2. I hope obx can get a couple more seasons out after the 3rd one.
I’m so scared that this show will end up like Riverdale, an amazing first season that got everybody hooked, but all the next seasons just get worse and worse

to be fair though they already have plans for 4-5 seasons and they are thinking of the writing and everything.. I mean think about it with Stranger things the writers were already thinking about the writing for season 2 when they were writing season 1, Which is exactly what the outer banks writers are doing..so I'd say this show is in good hands.
