7:11 I never really understood slut-shaming OR virgin-shaming back when I was in high school for this movie too. Pop culture keeps making a big deal about either of those extremes, and they're usually full of sexist double standards. For example, "boys can't be virgins" or "girls can't be sluts" and other sorts of peer pressure. The word "slut" as an insult kind of loses its meaning half of the time when describing two people in a CONSENUAL relationship. The same goes for "virgin" being used as an insult on people who don't want to have sex or choose to wait.
The 80s-early 00s had weird morals like that. Britney Spears announced she was a virgin. How weird was that?? Why did her marketing team think it was any of our business? It was a wild time
Eh, slut shaming I can understand, like it’s not a good thing for people to sleep with multiple random people without an emotional connection, for one, the risk of STDs and pregnancy gets higher with every partner, and also if the majority of someone’s relationships with people are sexual then they will struggle with non sexual relationships, this isn’t a brag, but from personal experience I can say that majority of my relationships or friendships with woman during my slut era were all based around sex, I joined clubs just to hang out with the girls I thought were hot, I only talked to girls to have sex, not to be friends, not to get homework help, not for anything but sex, and I only know that was part of being a slut because now that I’m in a committed relationship, my relationships and friendships with woman are completely different, that’s just my two cents, it’s a free country do what you want, but a little shame is good sometimes

7:37 Hey, as a foreigner, is this realistic to American schools? I seem to have seen this scenario in movies multiple times: a bully says or does something horrid to (usually) the main character and the main character returns the favour. And even though the teacher clearly saw who the perpetrator was, only the self-defending student gets in trouble. Does this normally happen?
I'm not American but it happened quite a bit in my school. I think it might ubiquitous, probably because teachers don't think punishing the bully would yield any results.
I don't know if it is just America, maybe it happens a lot here because we have often so many kids in one classroom for one teacher to keep track of they miss what actually happened. Personally, I did get in a huge pile of trouble because I left an uncomfortable situation that was escalating with two of my grade school classmates, no teachers were there to witness it and I got yelled at for leaving a mess I didn't create! 😕
A lot of American schools have what’s called “zero tolerance” policies regarding bullying and violence which means all students gets punished, including any retaliators. School administration is general is just notoriously bad at knowing and empathizing with their students in general so victims are often blamed without evidence. I’m sure similar things happen in other countries without proper student mediation or supervision deal with this too.
I sure miss the days where cheesy high school flicks can be funny while having something to say. Instead we're getting endless thirst trap/shipping marathon written by AI or taken from Wattpad.
I have to say, Olive does not come off as a cliche highschool teen to me at all. She’s actually very unique. She’s funny, sarcastic, a little weird in an endearing way and isn’t “oh poor me I’m so lonely and sad”. She comes off confident and just so over highschool. I think the fan base for this movie seems nearly on-par with those two movies. At this point, I wouldn't even be surprised if this movie gets its own broadway musical like them. I mean, Heathers got a musical and that movie has _more_ of a cult status compared to this one.
Not even kidding, you posted this right when I had an essay to write on this movie for school, and I was gone when they watched the movie. Thanks for coming in clutch! 😂
I’ll admit. My parents were sort of like this. We still definitely had the moments where they wouldn’t listen to me and I wouldn’t listen to them, but for the most part, I was super lucky. I could talk to them about anything, and they always had my back (they still do) 💜
7:11 I never really understood slut-shaming OR virgin-shaming back when I was in high school for this movie too.
I went to a boys only school. Never seen virgin shaming but we did slut shame both girls and boys though. Though, I am in south asia.
@@burtreynolds8030"the risk of STDs and pregnancy gets higher with every partner"
I am not exactly sure if this correct probability wise.
@@burtreynolds8030 Nah, you just gotta be informed and careful about having sex. Also get tested regularly and donate blood (because you get extra testing before the donation)
Rihannon is in love with Olive, the original script had the narrator say so, but they didn't keep it in lines.

I like how he always says “ok back to the show” after the sponsorship even tho sometimes it’s a movie😂
And also the fact that he has SO MANY SURFSHARK SPONSORS IS INCREDIBLE
I thought the “show” was his review. Like, the video itself…
The show is his video
"Back to the show" is just a saying tho, doesn't necessarily have to mean a tv show, any sort of display of smth can count 😂
"Back to the show" is a common video phrase, like "don't touch that dial" or "but now a word from our sponsor"
the highest praise my son has ever given me is 'you're just like the Mum'. so of course him and i throw the lines back and forth! nice word play! you must be related to me! only by marriage. its nice to know we are all sitting here reciting it together. i also give off todd mopping energy when im in A bad mood. killing it I WANNA BE AT WORK
and finally
LOBSTER TODD
Dan Byrd really should get more mainstream roles in Hollywood. The speech that he gives about how hard it is to be gay really yanked at my heartstrings.
i remember him in a cinderella story. he's a great actor
Great in Cougar Town.
Whenever I first watched this movie my mom told me that the parents were the funniest part. She was not wrong. The actors absolutely nailed their performances and the “Adoption Scene” will forever be one of the funniest if not the funniest part of the entire movie 😂
I still find this movie hilarious. I agree the parents aren’t great at being the best real life parents but for this movie they are hilarious and it adds to just a loving family between everyone. The line that follows “but I’m adapted” cracks me up every time
The male teacher plays Lyle in George of the Jungle. Loved that movie as a kid 😅👏
uh whatever Qwame.....
you have no idea how long i have waited for this day to arrive.. easy a is an all-time favorite! emma stone carried this movie and i am forever grateful
3:25 the early bird may get the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese
I’ve had a crush on Emma Stone since Zombieland but this movie solidified that crush.
For some reason I can't explain, this became almost an instant favorite to me. I saw it way after it first came out, but that's good because I could understand all the jokes, meanings behind things (at least mostly) and enjoy it all-around. I haven't seen it in a while now, but looking back it really has some heavy stereotypes and of the such, but for some reason, for this movie, they seem to work.
Glad to have your review and thoughts on it. Unto the next one!
I love this movie, after all these years, it's still amazing lol
Easy A is so underrated!!!!! it’s a modern day John Hughes movie, which was intentional,. Emma Stone is amazing, she instantly became my favorite actress. She so funny and beautiful
Yesss, I love this movie - this came out when I was in high school, I loved it then and now looking back I realize how influential it was on me
This was one of my favorite movies in high school. A real gem. I found it because a Michalka was in it and I was not disappointed lol. Still have the DVD.
So glad you've made a video on it, Alex! Love your vids!
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine

recently one of my cousins passed away suddenly, and one of my best memories with her was sneaking into different movies trying to see how many different theatres (rooms) we could make it into before getting caught; and we ended up getting to easy A like 15 minutes into the movie. we ended up being so invested we stayed and watched the whole movie instead of testing our luck lol. it became one of my favorite movies complete with good memories around it
I've never watched the majority of the things you review but i love watching you review them... Love your videos they really make my day!

Very often.

Olive's parents are the best on-screen parents I've seen in my life 😅
There’s an ad in my country that has the pocket full of sunshine song and whenever I hear it I immediately think of this movie lmao.
I have to say, Olive does not come off as a cliche highschool teen to me at all. She’s actually very unique. She’s funny, sarcastic, a little weird in an endearing way and isn’t “oh poor me I’m so lonely and sad”. She comes off confident and just so over highschool. (To be fair she doesn’t come off as a teen at all but that’s normal).
It's been probably a decade and some change since I've seen this movie and I was today years old when I recognized so many actors from other works...namely Joe 10:54
The first line in the movie is golden, forgot how good this movie was.
Great vid lol
Also the ending to this movie was a reference to the movie in the '80s 'Can't Buy me Love where they ride out on the lawn mower into the sunset!
