Male writers are so bad at writing interesting female characters and then they wonder why the fans ship the male characters together.
Well in comparison to girls like Lydia (who wears trousers like twice in the entire show, is very into make up/clothes, is shown to eat like 2 rasins for lunch in one scene & is almost always wearing heels even when going to look for dead bodies as a teenager) I guess she's not hyper feminine + she is quite sporty but yeah that line was a very mid-200's "strong female character" type deal that would not go down well nowadays.

After season 2 stiles is no longer the comedic sidekick, he gets a lot more backstory, and becomes probably one of the most damaged and depressed characters in the show. You can still see his funny side but not nearly as much as it was in seasons 1 & 2. Something happens to him in season three, and he was never really the same afterwords, like he gets angry and frustrated really quickly and hardly trusts anyone. He’s my favourite character!!

She kinda was yanked back and forth by the writers. And as much as the relationship was a bit too much cliche for me a huge portion of the time, the split between those two lovebirds was so quick and sudden after the season break that it another set of hand of god moments from the writers because it was more convenient for ratings and their plan for them not to be at the time, no matter where they recently were in the story.
To be honest, I don't recall much about the show, I gave up after it started going really wonky in like (season 5?), and that was years ago, and it apparently wasn't so awesome that it stuck much with me. But I do remember some things, like that and Allison. It is a shame they killed her off, I do remember that. I know I had more characters I thought were done far more terribly by the writers, but I cannot recall offhand, but w/e. I did like a lot of the show early on.

@@niamhrtditchfield2348 she was cringe for like.one ep. and then she became super badass imo. i loved the fact she wasn't the token tomboy/im not like other girls stereotypes. she was super self assured, capable and wore the pants in both of her relationships and damn if i didnt aspire to be her. and tbh i LOVED her relationship with her father. she knew what she was doing and was also lethal with a bow, WHILE being drop dead gorgeous (and acknowledging that hell yeah, she was a total catch because she WAS.)
Apparently the actress wanted to leave the show so wasn't really their decision. But yeah, stopped watching shortly after that...

i hated that line so much but HEY SEASON 3 IS SO GOOD THOUGH
Yep lets completely disregard why that line makes sense for her to say because you didn't actually watch the show.
The first thing I loved about the show is the subversion of the stereotypes. The pretty and rich girl is actually a literal genius. The 'dumb jock', his best friend is gay and he's cool with that. (And... so on.) Styles, who was basically a soon to be car salesman in the movies, is a brilliant detective and loyal friend. His goals in life are to help his friends, not make money. "The Girl" that the lead is interested is a badass hunter, not a damsel in distress. And the lead... he's a leader. He can't do everything and he knows it. He knows to rely on the strength of the people around him and can delegate. He doesn't feel the need to be 'the man' all the time. A true (Tue) alpha. (Note: Where the whole alpha male thing came from was a study on captive wolves. Hence the toxic, selfish behaviour. The author of said book later studied wolves in the wild and realized he was wrong. Alpha's that aren't cornered and desperate put the pack first and do everything to help them.) That's Scott. Great show. Not so great in the last season, storywise, but still enjoyed the characters.

Season 2 would have to disagree where scott unilaterally decided to replace Gerard's medication with mountain ash tablets and then helped him hunt down Derek to force him to bite Gerard against his will. Then let Gerard escape who then got to Monroe and she launched her new generation of hinters who have no code and the first scene with them is literally scarring people to discover who is supernatural. Oh and season 4 where he held it against Stiles that the man who was hunting Stiles to literally cripple him as vengeance against Noah for his dad getting paralyzed on the job. And letting Ducaleon walk alway after he killed Erica before having the twins force Derek to kill Boyd with his bare hands. And drove Cora hale, a child to insanity by having her locked up for months. And then accepting said twins into his pack like they were not hunting him less than a month ago. And ignoring Stiles when he tells him something is suspicious about Theo. You know ignoring the person who discovered about literal werewolves in one night. Scott is a good guy don't get me wrong but he has just as many screw ups from sheer stupidity. Not to mention he ignored everyone when they told him Allison needed help to grieve her mom's death and he ignored it out of guilt and Allison proceeds to help Gerard and Kate hunt the pack.
Cruz JcR but Scott’s still a teenager above all and makes mistakes like anyone would, he didn’t always make the right decisions but he handled the consequences as a good leader
@@juliamorgan6586 how? Chris not Gerard nor Scott nor Allison freed Erica and Boyd from Gerard where they were immediately captured by the Alpha pack. Derek gave up his alpha power to save Cora from dying because of Duke's torture. Stiles just forgave Scott after Scott turned his back on him for not wanting to be crippled by a psycho with a grudge. Monroe killed hundreds of wolves and Derek is the one on the FBI's most wanted list. Stiles most certainly lost all potential to be in the FBI since he and Derek escaped an FBI raid together. Noah Stilinski may be in on what is going on now but he can't tell his superiors what is going on in Beacon Hills with Wendigos Dread Doctors, Werewolves, the Anukite. The only thing Scott didn't directly make worse was Kate and that's just because you can't find a level below supernatural crazy psycho bitch to quote our strawberry blonde goddess. The series ended with the Supernatural community being hunted by monroe. The worst fall out Scott faced was Allison dying and even that Stiles and Lydia have more basis to suffer as Stiles felt blame because of the Nogitsune and Lydia felt her death. Scott never got called out or faced consequences for his choices. Everyone around him did. Mainly Derek. That show loved to screw over Derek. Hell they gave him a flash back to screw him over again and even deaged him to screw him over even more.

She's actually not cringe. Allison wasn't one of those type of girls that acted like "im not like other girls" it was mostly her upbringing that made her feel like that, with her mom and dad being hard on her. She was one of the best characters on the show
They took a few episodes to flush out her character. She is one of the most memorable of the group when they finally settle her character

Never watched teen wolf but for some reason this reminds me of BEASTARS, I guess it's the whole "Nerdy wolf-boy trying to control his urge to kill and save his girlfriend while trying not to harm her" thing.
After like the 1st season. Like noone ran on all 4's.
I think there are some redeeming qualities about the show (mainly Stiles) but yeah, I could never take the transformations seriously because they looked so weird. The run was the worst. 😂

Mia B-P I only saw the first two seasons a couple years ago, but he wasn’t that nerdy. He was just a sub-par lacrosse player.
The whole Beastars thing was a sub-plot for the first season, but he didn’t have any urge to kill her. He had a dream he was making out with Allison on a school bus at night, but he turned into a werewolf and killed her. The next day at school, he saw her alive and well, but the same bus was all bloody and had a dead body. They made some weird explanation for this, I think it was actually the guy who bit Scott that killed somebody on the bus, and their bite bond made Scott have a dream about it?? Scott then avoided telling Allison he was a werewolf but only because he knew her father was trying to kill him and he wanted to keep her safe from all that, but then she ended up finding out he was a werewolf towards the end of the season when they went on the same bus to make out (with Scott hesitating bc of his dream from before) and her dad tried to kill him then and there.

Lacrosse IS cool to be fair. I guess it's a decent pick for these kinds of shows too, a sport that cna showoff physically prowess and teamplay, strategic decisions, some kind of faceguard can always be used to narrative advantage, Coach is NO DOUBT one of the best characters in the show, the teams are big enough that you cand get into most players and the rules are simple enough to be conveyed without a four hour exposition. I realize I was ranting but it's easy to think of lacrosse over soccer, football or equally culturally charged sports. Have a look at The Foxhole Court, similar idea
I feel like it’s still a “tough guy” sport but the helmets are a lot smaller and you don’t wear as many pads so Hollywood decided to make it the go-to sport as the actors can act better in the scenes

Teen Wolf and The Vampire diaries is the best series
*SPOILERS*
This is actually a very good show as it matures along with its audience for every season. While season 1 and 2 are pretty generic its at season 3 that the show truly starts to shine, the plot gets much more advanced with several sub-plots that develop under time. There is also a lot of character development along with way better perfomances from the actors (stiles and lydia). As the show progresses not only does the plot get more depth but there is also much more gore with way more violence and even some horror elements in the later seasons.
Just look at season 1 battles and then go to those season 5 masks, its truly incredible how the show evolves. In each season a new *creature(s)* is introduced, which also creates a great amount of variation among the six season that i think a lot of other shows struggle to fill. While there definetly are parts of the show that were a little bit too long or boring or just straight up bad i must say that this show is actually kind of unique among the countless amount of teen shows of today.
I grew up with this show and it has a very special place in my heart, i just wanted to say that i love this show.

Like for example what pisses me off the most, is that Allison describes having feelings/showing emotions as being girly. Those are just normal human things and shouldn't be seen as something negative or something that is exclusive to one gender.

So, I really felt a strong need to address this, SO, Scott was beaten by Liam because he was controlled by the Supermoon (I mean Liam) Also, Scott did not want to kill him so that is why he didn't use full power. About Theo, he is a genetic chimera which makes him two of supernatural while Scott is just one. Genetic chimeras appear to generally be stronger as they don't really "follow the rules" of the supernatural as Deaton said.

Alison's transformation from the whole "not like other girls" in season 1 to "kinda antagonistic" in season 2 and "the most badass bitch ever" in season 3 is one of the best character arcs in Teen Wolf.

Since so many people latched onto the girly girl line: as Allison’s story is fleshed out, it becomes clear that her family is the direct reason why she has this mindset. Despite her hunter family’s emphasis on female leadership, she was taught to value more typically masculine leadership characteristics and reason and stoicism while actively suppressing emotion. You can tell that she struggles with it, but the more she grows, the more she allows herself to embrace her innate femininity.
The character development on this show is surprisingly deep, guys. It can be a very dumb, ridiculous show at times but it’s way better than I expected it to be.

But because there’s a difference between a character expressing something and the show itself backing it up or endorsing it, my explanation was to let people know that, in this case, this was not the show’s philosophy, it was a lie that the character believed and had to grow out of.
After the show ended I rewatched the first 3 Seasons. So much becomes clearer when you´re older and the context the show is set in makes suddenly sense, somehow. Yes, its cringe, full of things you have seen before but the characters actually have well, character and they change. One think i got to respect about the show.

They actually got the highschool part about the show right. Not once did they forget they had homework or were failing classes. Plus we'd see them doing work and being at school or being punished for ditching. Way better than how riverdal treats its "teenagers". In teen wolf, they'd only do recon during the night when they were free. Also convenient that most of the frsaky things that happened were doing vacation though 😂

I think there were genuine relationships in this show that were super healthy and good in comparison to other shows for teens that were coming out at the time (and that are still coming out today).
Also the plot was actually interesting. Like, yeah, it's super dated and the quality of the story-line declined after some time, but there were still so many fun and good things about it (one of them being that it didn't fully revolve around romance in some demented way).
There was also a big focus on how they were supposed to be kids and how it was unfair that they had to deal with all this stuff, which was pretty cool imo.
I also think that those first seasons was them figuring out how the characters fit with each other and where they wanted to go with the show in general, so it got better with time. But anyway, I loved seeing your reaction to it! It was hilarious (sorry this comment is so long lmao)
The friendships shown between men, how they hug and cry and show emotion, is wonderful to see

@@hellothere-bo7bn I don't think it's a good idea to hate her entire character for one cringey/problimatic line that male writers gave her. Also unfortunately saying stuff like that isn't actually that unrealistic as teen girls often do go through an unfortunate "I'm not like other girls" phase where they look down (often unconsciously) on the traditionally feminine. Lydia was also problimatic for trying to follow so strictly to such a hyper feminine role that she pretended to be dumb to smooth the ego of her jerk of a boyfriend. Both ways of thinking are flawed but Allison & Lydia outgrew that stuff & became badasses & friends (until Allison's unfortunate death) without having to resort to frivolousness/helplessness or rejecting thier femininity.
