Just to say thank you for this , I had this exact issue and got through x2 batteries , turns out it was loose magnets jamming the rotor inside the starter motor. For anyone doing the job if you have the ABS model it’s a complete pain in the butt, Remove left fairing and undo bolt holding the ABS lines to the radiator and remove the 3 bolts holding the abs unit to the stator cover , this will allow the abs unit to move forward a little , and enough to remove the motor .
I have two of the six magnets broken..I already open the starter and clean it..remove the broken pieces from inside...and I closed it with 4/6 magnets inside...can this starter work in this situation??? Sorry for my English mate..
2010 1000rr here, mine had 1 missing magnet for a few thousand miles now, suddenly the starter couldn't crank the motor so i had to replace it, the one i ordered is arriving as i type this, so advice to anyone losing a magnet, try and replace the starter motor, riding with a missing magnet could screw you up and is not a long term solution.
Miguel it's behind and below the tank. Gotta pull the left fairing. U can see it from the side inside the Frame if u look from the left. I actually removed the gas tank to get at it. Once u do that u look right down below and where the gas tank drops down and you can see it. There are 2 bolts and a nut you have to remove. The bolt towards the front is partially under a hose which is a bit of a pain to remove

Sorry, couldn’t you have shown yourself taking the part out? It would have been great for me to see that.
Man thanks for these video I kill 3 batteries wild trying to find the problem.. my starter lasted 13k miles 2015 cbr1000rr .
Is best to get a Honda dealer one or just a cheap aftermarket one on eBay? Considering it’s just gonna go out again bc it how it was made to last
I have a 2018 CBR1000RR, I have same symptoms. Will take it out and check the inside.
How’d it end up for you? Been having the same problems but haven’t decided if I’m going to fix it or just buy a new starter
I don't suppose you've done a how to video to remove the starter?
