This makes me feel good about my candles. In the summer i sold candles infront of my house in a community crafters event paying zero venue fee, made double that profit! When your candles are good and customers can smell them in person it's the most rewarding experience 🙌
I have a ''Free Whiffs'' sign that i've used at my table and it works amazingly!!! People come over and ask what's for free. It's so clever, causing the potential customers to come and checkout the booth.
I had my 1st 2 wks ago. I love hearing everybody's first experience, it's like a rite of passage lol it's so exciting, but you're nervous, you don't know what to expect and even at the end of it if you don't make what you expect or what you necessarily want; it's still just rewarding to have gone through that. Plus to have engaged with people, gotten your brand out there and to just get in the groove of the market experience is a learning experience. I'm glad you guys had a great great time. And you are so right, the wax warmer was a game-changer. For me, people were like what is that scent it's amazing. I had seen these wax melter liners, so that is a good idea if you want to change it out instead of using multiple wax melters there's these liners where you can just put the wax melt in and when you're done let it solidify and take it out and put a new wax melt with the liner in.
another tip for setting up your market display, is practicing a setup at home and taking a photo of it for future reference so you're not scrambling at the actual market!
Omg 😂 sorry! I just wanted to leave that tip there just in case others make that mistake like me 🥲 thank you for sharing your market experience though, it’s so helpful and really makes me want to try out markets again 🤍
So great!! At least you now got your first show out of the way and now it is smooth sailing!!! I know you sell candles and I sell soaps, what I do is for everyone who purchases, I have a little sample soap as a gift in their bag. Also, maybe for your wax melts, have a "show" special, like 2 or 3 for a certain amount. Your videos are really fantastic and I am learning a lot from you!!!
Girl, you are not introverted! Becos you know how to talk to people, you inspired me to do something with my life I’m introvert scared to talked to people haha
Omg I got a shoutout 🙀🙀💕 Loving the transparency btw, my BF and I were wondering what your sales were like that night! I’ve been obsessed with the plum and cashmere candle that I picked up 😊 not surprised that was a popular one!
Congratulations on your first booth sale! So excited for you guys! Sounds like lots of experience for future booths along with a little money in the bank. So a real success all around. I’ve followed you for quite a while and am really glad to see you growing (almost 100k!) while doing something you love so much. So Cheers 🥂
Loved this!😍 I'm sure most of us have at least considered doing a pop up event, so your video was incredibly helpful! You gave us such a great walk through of the experience and of what to expect in just this part 1 alone. You are truly appreciated, and this pop up event was a win for you in so many ways. Congrats!👏🏼😃
I've done shows for a few years now. Not candles but another thing I make. I've had items that people gravitate to, that is loved by everyone that picks them up yet no one buys. And they go to the next show in another state. The things I think will sell quickly and easily for me may just sit on a shelf. And the things I think will be throwaways may turn into the most popular item of the year. It can often be tough to figure out what people want.
US$125 is about IDR 1,7million, in Jakarta, Indonesia that is actually a cheaper one.. Here a booth can cost about US$280 for 3-4 days (tent & electricity included) depending on the location... US$125 for 3days is usually an office bazaar event which will be located in an office building and only on work days, so busy hour would only be around lunch
I am so happy for you!! I can still see the how stoked you still are, congratulations on your first vendor event ! Something I cannot wait to do sometime soon ❣️ I can’t wait for part 2 ! Again Congratulations 🎉
This is a great gig I’m so excited for you I was hoping ever since you’ve launched your business that you would be able to get in and sell here it’s such a neat spot maybe I’ll get lucky and be able to get out there on the 10th and see you
Hi! I have done a ton of events and tried several readers. The Bluetooth readers always have problems for me. The basic square reader is by far the best and most reliable.
Congrats on your first event! I’ve been doing pop ups from the beginning of my candle business and I will say that EVERY time is different. This time your melts sold well but next time your nostalgia collection may sell better. It truly depends on the crowd. Good luck in December!
Have you done any events in July? Is it too hot at that time to sell candles and melts? I was asked to be a vendor at a great event but it’s in July and it gets to around 90 degrees during that time and it would be my first event selling my candles and wax melts!
Where I live, they have these annual festivals like this. I'll definitely bring my boyfriend too when I set up a booth 😅 he's way charismatic, and friendly. People just flock to him
Congrats! Seemed liked a very cool experience and there was profit so that’s a plus in addition to getting your name out in the community! Can’t wait for part two, definitely interested in the card reader comments.
Congrats on your first pop up! Not sure if you will see this but maybe you answer it in the next video. What do you think you will do differently for future events? What do you wish you knew or had done for this event? Was there something that you took that you didn’t use or was necessary? What was your favorite part of the entire experience?
We did a market before Christmas where the stall cost $2,000 and we also had to hire a van and book accommodation as it was in another city. It was a four day market with 12hr+ days, but it was definitely worth it. I can’t wait to go back this year.
Hey I’m so excited for my first pop up shop, question by chance do you suggest to lower the price of the candle? Or keep it as regular price? Example if my website says 10 oz 18 should I keep it the same price as the pop up shop, or lower it just alittle ? Thank you for taking the time out
$272 isn't bad. Best part was the exposure. Imagine if 50% of the people you talk to bought and candle and then if 25% became returning customers. I can't wait to launch my business. Pop up booths seem so fun
I already had a customer reach out to me from the market to purchase 7 winter sample packs to give as gifts! She raved about my wax melts and said they are the best she has ever used, and will be a life long customer! 🥰❤️
I just started my candle business and I've had 10 orders thus far and I've had the absolute fun doing it and I'm loving the feed back so far. I'm thinking about doing a pop up shop at my home then take it from there I'm super nervous to see how this goes wish me luck
My sales tax is 10.3% so yours isn't that bad! Thanks for sharing your experience! I just did my first pop up last weekend too and it was an amazing experience!!!
This is amazing. I love the Vail. If your candles or some of them are 100% vegan I’d recommend you do the pop up at the vegan market. They have at least one each month and a lot of vendors do great, I think a lot of vegans come from different places lol. My family and I go all the time and I feel there’s more activity in the vegan ones versus the non vegan…
Hey Erica , do you ever store wax in the big wax warmer? And if so for up to how long ? & Do you ever notice any damage to candles from rewarming the wax?
Congratulations ❤ So happy for your growth and accomplishments! Amazon has reusable wax melt cups that you could use for your wax melts. They're similar to cupcake liners. You could bring multiple cups for each scent that way you don't have to buy multiple wax melters.
Thanks for such an informative video! I’m getting ready to go to my first fair in June. So exciting! I was wondering if you have any recommendations for good shopping bags for in person candle sales? I’m worried about which bags will be able to handle the weight of candles lol
OMg I had the same experience different product (Bath Bombs ) Halloween was the first time selling our products ,My Daughter is introvert and she took the lead selling talking with ppl i was rea;;y impressed we had a wonderful experience cant wait to do it again
Thank you for the feedback. So if I’m doing an event for charity (donation) do I still pay taxes ? Is it ok to give a free gift for every purchased like a tea-light from recycled wax? I have these little bottles (little bee scents tester bottles ) that I will use for testers but it may be too concentrated! Lol . I live in chino hills and heard there’s a farmers market in menefee
I got it a LONG time ago, and apparently it’s no longer available for purchase! I’m sure the fact that it’s old had something to do with my connection issues. I actually just purchased the card reader from Shopify to use for my next one! ❤️
This is such a normal fear but I promise if you go into it with NO expectations then it will be so much better! Chris and I went to our first event with no expectations, and didn’t expect to even sell anything. And it was such a fun day because we didn’t put any pressure on ourselves! Just try to enjoy the experience for what it is, you will learn more and more the more you do events 😊
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo we have a website and are on instagram and tik tok but we are so new to all of the social media platforms. We are just learning how to use them.
If you’re just here to hear about the financial part of the night you can skip to 17:06! 🤍

I did actually! 🤍 I just didn’t consider the extra candles needed for the displays so I felt like I was scrambling 😅

I paid $525 for a 2 day booth it was way worth it. I’m also in California, I use square it does the tax fees for me.
Hi, I'm in California and just starting. How many candles would you suggest bringing for a holiday festival?

That’s exciting ! Congrats on your first popup event ! 💕
Thank you!! ❤️
I had to laugh at the 8% sales tax because in Quebec we have a 14.975% sales tax. Sounds like you two had a great experience!
Montrealer here! I chuckled at the sales tax haha
Lol that’s because Canada is soo dang expensive!! You guys are taxed soo much, and it seems like everything costs more too
Yes, thank you for today's info! ✨
Thank you for watching! ☺️
Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤
Since the sales tax was included already, it correctly reflected the amount in shopify pos?
I'm Abigail fan of you and I'm in the process of opening my candle business.💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💝💝💝💝💝
Do you still use the PayPal thing? I have the square and cash app. Thanking about that PayPal thing
BTW I love your videos! I'm new to the candle business 🤗
Do you recommend launching at a vendor event vs online? Having trouble deciding 😭
Im curious as to what questions people had for you
Where’d you get your card reader from? :)
Thank you for this info!!! Where did you get the PayPal card reader? Do they charge a fee to use it?
I got it a LONG time ago, and apparently it’s no longer available for purchase! I’m sure the fact that it’s old had something to do with my connection issues. I actually just purchased the card reader from Shopify to use for my next one! ❤️
Question please: how to find and sign up for pop ups .......help?
Where do you get your wick trimmers?
Hi Erica! What size banner did you go with for your pop up event?
Hi! I went with a 2’ x 5’ ☺️
Great video!
when are you going to be at your next pop up event? I live in the next city over from you so I would love to stop by and get some candles in person.
We will be at the holiday market at vail HQ in Temecula on December 10th! 🤍
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo can’t wait to stop by and get some candles
Yayy!! Looking forward to it! ☺️
Why PayPal instead of square? Did you say and I missed it?
Perfect ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Where did you get your light that says free candles smells?
Target :)
How many candles for each scent ?
What do you do differently now vs then?
I have my first pop up next week but so scared that I won’t sell anything and that’s just going to be embarrassing for me lol

Are you in the uk?how do you get to do a pop up event?
Did they supply the tent or did you have to put that up yourself?
At this event they supplied the canopies, however in some other markets we have been to you have to provide one yourself
8.75% sales tax. Wowza. You deserve to keep that $42
Hey Erica! We just started selling candles but are having a hard time getting hits on our website. Any ideas we could try?
Hi! What marketing methods are you currently using?
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo we have a website and are on instagram and tik tok but we are so new to all of the social media platforms. We are just learning how to use them.
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo we also paid for google advertising
8+% sales tax is high? You need to come to Canada. Our tax is 13%.... this sounded like a great experience for you. Congrats!
Haha Canada is just ridiculous on how much they tax you 😆 and thank you! ❤️
Best sellers?
what is the name of this event?
Starlight Bazaar at Vail HQ in Temecula :)
Why would you pay sales tax on booth fee?
I didn’t, I collected sales tax from the customers who purchased my products
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What is the name of the stretchy table cloth you used over the foldable?! 🤍
