    Not withstanding budget:
    The whole roof should have plyboards over it completely.
    The roof also should be completely covered with felt/waterproof material.
    And then the clay tiles should be laid on that bed.
    That's how it's done by code in the States. It's costly, mind you, but it's worth it in the end.

      Budget wasn't the issue though, just a workman who didn't know what to do...it was sorted out though, to God be the glory.

    Wow😂😂😂, it’s amazing how you look at things and hold yourself accountable. All the best my sis. The lessons we learn from our mistakes are invaluable and should never be overlooked. You journey has inspired both my husband and I who are planning on building. Thank you for your experience and I pray the Most High will bless you with favor.

      After the storm, it's better to laugh at it than cry or stress.

      That's the honesty I spoke about in my comment on their most recent full-length video. It's a painful truth but they tell it anyway. I respect that.

    Wow! I feel your pain. Thank God the rain came before he "finished" and left. Some of these so called trade men are too cruel. I pray everything will run smoothly and according to plan to the finish line 👌

      Most times it becomes more expensive the cheaper way, Sorry guys we learn from our mistakes. That so call roof contractor though SMH. Anyways we just have to move forward, stay focused and be guided too by any 'red flag'. God bless your footsteps in the future.

    100 of those clay tiles cannot cover not even a 1 room building. 1st, the Hardware should provide you with the coverage of each clay tile so your contractor can work out the quantity accurately.

    • @underconstructionJAM
      @underconstructionJAM  Місяць тому

      Great point, Eddie, although the Roofer was hired for that purpose, and the hardware was not at all involved except to sell the items. Thankfully, we picked up on the mess before it was too late.

    No clay tile . I would go galvanize

  • @RoyD450

    Did you have a roof design with your plan? If so, why did the roofer not installed the sarking (pressure treated ply) and membrane before installing the tiles?

    • @underconstructionJAM
      @underconstructionJAM  7 місяців тому

      We had the plan, but he didn't rely fully on it as he ought to have done. When it was brought to his attention, he disagreed with us, and other contractors came by and said it could stay, so we were hesitant to stop him initially ....

    • @RoyD450
      @RoyD450 7 місяців тому +1

      Contractors and workmen are always chasing the $$ and not quality. Most of them do not know how to read a plan and they end up building something that is not on the plan. I am having the same issue with my project. What I do is insist that if it is on the plan then do it unless I authorized the changes. Good luck on your project.
