- The actual quantity of materials and cost, as well as the labour cost to complete the roof decking for a specific floor plan in Jamaica.
Size of Floor Plan: 85.6 sq. ms./921.4 sq. ft.

Just decking cost almost 2 million. i dont doubt you, i saw the breakdown, things get expensive man. no wonder when people selling them houses and asking 40, 50 million. we must pay it. cause building material not cheap.
the material cost are out of the world. labour cost not too bad, could be lower still. at the end of the day $400,000.00 is just for decking.
watching this makes me grateful that i finished building, I cannot afford to build now, too expensive. thanks to you video i know exactly whats happening now
The decking is expensive, even though the labour cost is 400k, the other 1.4m is material cost. supposed it was an entire house.
That was a month ago, if she was doing it today, the material cost would be almost doubled. It crazy how the material goes up every week. I am building and a ton of steel just went up by forty odd thousand. And maybe by next week, it will go up again. It's CRAZY. But you can't get discouraged. One you start you will finish one day.
The bamboos are always better. Might need more than metal props. But your decking can stay up longer

I have watched this house comming from nothing to something. cannot wait to see its completion. i know its the money that preventing its completion. but you will get there one day, keep trying sister.

the bamboos work wonderful, they are plenty but they look strong. and the cost of the bamboo outweighs the metal props, as the decking can stay up longer allowing the concrete to set properly.

the bamboo was a good choice of props, it can stay longer which i think is good for the decking and much cheaper. good choice mercury. 😄

hey could you get some information on this or me please im wondering about the estimate cost to build another floor onto an existing home ?would it be more expensive to dig foundation
Cost depends on the size of what is being built and level of difficulty. It would cost more to dig a foundation. A quantity surveyor would be able to provide an estimate based on knowledge of what is to be built.

Hi Mercury, enjoying your videos with the details provided. Did you compare using the premix cement truck to do the decking instead vs buying cement, sand and gravel + labour?
Thank you HackedbyEbanks. I compared both options and the two premix companies that I contacted proved to be way more costly as they charge per cubic yard. Coast to Coast Concrete and Aggregates is located a minute from where I live and based on my calculations it would not have been more cost effective for me, since all they were providing was the concrete.

Orlando, you got me thinking. so i check it out. look at mercury breakdown.. its the carpentry thats overpriced. the others are ok.
so overall it not that expensive.

Thanks. Decking was cast in 1 day. 9 men worked on it.

Do you always have to feed the workers? Or do you only do that on special days (like roof casting)?
I do not feed the workers. They provide their own meals and take their own chef to cook on special days.

@@ravmercury3225 Hi Mercury thanks for replying. My bad I call the gravel stone. The gravel comes in various sizes that's why I was asking which size you used 1/2 inch or 3/8.
Ok understood. I honestly did not know that gravel came in different sizes. I know about the different colours, gray or white gravel. I really do not know what size was used. Hopefully someone with that knowledge who has reached the video can clarify. Thanks for teaching me something new. I will try to find out the size and share with you.
@@ravmercury3225 Thank you. I was told 3/8 best for decking and 1/2 inch best for foundation and columns and like garage. I was using the 1/2 but switching now to 3/8 for the decking.

I do not have an updated contact. The comments regarding the painter were not all positive. Thanks for your kind words. Check the yellow pages as there are quite a few painting companies listed. All the best with your paint project

Hi Beverley thank you. The name of the welder is Desmond. I am not too sure if he still works at Eagle Construction, 5 Studio One Blvd 876 775-2436. I do not have his personal contacts as I met him through the company. I suggest that you provide the welder with a picture of exactly what it is that you want and he should be able to deliver
