It's a shame he didn't have a go at having a look at the old engine and repairing it, It's far more interesting when you do because it just becomes a jigsaw puzzle when you are just swapping bits out and I begin to lose interest.
@McKluskie pointless exercise when he priced from Jag and can only buy a short block for 7k plus. That's why he swapped it. What's he meant to do spend pointless extra money just to keep moaners like u happy ?
@@NUFC2412 a couple of hours investigating the problem and showing us the damage would have been very interesting and cost him nothing but time, whos the more pointless, the complainer of the complainer about the complainer.
I have massive respect for you Dean, working on cars every day and still getting out amazing content.. I tried to do a couple bits on my car and took way longer than it should.. and I was knackered, I’m gonna stick to driving..

I’ve been watching Dean for about a year now and I’m super happy this channel is getting some proper views with the honest transparency and damned hard work
Great job! Too late now but you didn’t know that before putting in the new engine, you should have replaced the older style upper and lower coolant pipes because it’s guaranteed just a matter of time before they leak coolant and that design has been replaced. The supercharger needs to come off to replace them but it’s a lot easier with the engine out of the car. I could see the upper pipe is the old style because it has welded flanges on it. The revised upper and lower (often referred to as ‘Y’ pipe )that go together as a pair have no flanges and are molded as one pieces. There are also aftermarket pipes made out of aluminum.
Superb work Dean, I used to love working on cars and I learned what I know by laying on my back on the driveway in the cold and dark usually. I’m too old now with a bad back but absolutely love watching your videos. 👍🏻
The bloke is a legend I do all my own serving and anything that goes wrong. Also other people's cars but not with the luxury of a lift .. and deans knowledge on vag stuff is superb . I'd love to work for the guy, I look forward to his vids every week. How the world has changed watching someone play with cars hey.
Well done fixing a great Jaguar. I bet when the engine hydrolocked, there was a sense of urgency to get the car pulled out the water by a helpful passer by, with whatever was close to hand. Seat belts make great emergency tow ropes.
You definitely have a big heart bro doing all that work by yourself 😮 I salute you sir for your work ethic, absolutely brilliant job well done man 👌👌👌👌

Great content as always Dean. Why would someone cut the seat belt without it being blown. Crazy insurance assessment garage work job no doubt. Keep up the good work mate 😊😊
The torch in the wheel made me chuckle! I can relate to this, I 'lost' my 3/8ths extension bar ... spent about 3 weeks looking for it. I'd placed it in the gutter at the top of the engine bay where the bonnet sits ....
Fair play to you Dean, for doing this all on your todsome and without a proper lift! My dinosaur brain can't comprehend the complexity of these cars but I sit transfixed as you skin and rebuild them whilst making it look relatively easy. Keep up the good work!
Nice one Dean, I hope that you finish the car, with no more surprises. It looks like it had been looked after ( except the seat belts ) and so I’d bet that it’s putting the jigsaw back together!

Nice features about the expensive "supercars", but in a way the Skoda Octavia project is probably more in step with the times. There should be more people who can own such more reasonable cars. Impressed following your work.
This is awesome, £30k is about right for a cat N with a flooded vehicle, especially if it’s water (hydro??) locked. I dunno but it is definitely a huge commitment! Lovely car though

Hello Dean. Wow I can't believe that everything came out, radiator and all. It's a Big engine mate. The New Engine is looking fighting fit. Smooth Gearbox fit lol. Great video again Dean. 💯🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm guessing that by clearing the codes then running an actuation test on your throttle body valve, the ECU reset the fully open and fully closed positions. I had a similar problem on my BMW 635d, and I was almost tearing what little hair I have left out until I stumbled on a similar fix. Hindsight is 20:20 as they say!
Great to see the new engine go in so sweetly. Hopefully you can rebuild the old engine - that would be a good video. Can I ask why you didn't replace the clutch when both engine and transmission were out?
Bit late to say this but i usually put the Jags/Land Rovers into brake pad replacement mode so the handbrake stays off😂 can do that through the handbrake switch and ignition button
I’ve seen you rebuild other engines. Is there a reason you didn’t do that to keep the original engine in it (e.g is the head or block wrecked), or is it just a time thing?
Just a thought, could the engine have the sump dropped with a view to examining the piston con rods....and perhaps simply replacing any bent items in view of your "now knowledge" that it was a low speed ingestion of water and nothing severe ?
This was really great. Did you have to do any remapping fo the engine to the car, seeing you swapped the originaql out for another one? I only ask, because Samcrac who tried to restore a waterlogged Astom Martin had a terrible time remapping the engine to the Volvo fuse box which also acts as a Central Electronics Modual, a fuse box with a built in computer module, which Volvo and Astom Arytin collaberated on. This required a some firmwarre from Aston Martin, wihch they wouldn't see him and at the end of the day he sold off the car getting hois money back but with an unsuccessful rempped car. Whar are the rules when swapping an engine so the car's main computer will accept the swap? Thanks for the these videos. Very interesting.
