Dean, 13:25 to 13:29 there are two electric arcs on the module connected by the red wire that comes from the bulkhead (at the top of the screen). Also, it's hard to tell for sure, but the end of the red wire looks burnt. JUST THOUGHT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS...........
That was the power wire from the battery to the engine, I only screwed it on loosely instead of tight which is why you saw it arc. I then tightened it up 😄
@@SavingSalvage Thank God, came here to say the same thing noticed it at 11:17 and thought it was a bad connection on something, hell of an arc, got me worried.😀
@1m30s thats utter insanity this (apparent) emission reducing stuff all things considered are an absolute net negative in their own right and ONLY a tax on the consumer one way or another inc maintenance/repair costs...
Hello from Ireland again, Dean. Jesus, looks like a massive job, bro. I know nothing about Car engines, Dean. I own a Motorbike Dealership here in Ireland. So all i can do is give you Moral Support, and tell you how Brilliant you are, at what you do. I watch you carefully because you always teach me something new, with every video. I dont bloody know how you can get an engine/gearbox in on your OWN. You're stone mad, Dean. 😂😂😂. Or, an Expert at your job. I think we know which one you are, bro. Im Praying to God himself that this works out, after all the crazy work you're putting into this build. Fantastic job, Dean. Keep up the great work. Lovely Q5. 🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Don’t forget the chain tensioners work off primary oil pressure, common problem on these is lazy tensioners leading to excessive early cam wear. I have a full Audi warranty rebuild on my 2015 Allroad at 30000 miles and a snip under £8000.
Completely agree with you on long life servicing, i had to rebuild my c5 2.5TDI cams and followers worn out, the claims then were long life servicing to blame. Love the SQ5 i have brought some tickets.
These engines do not fail because of the 2-stage oil pressure. They fail because of the longlife intervals and driving on low revs all the time, especially while city driving. It is a highway car. I do know cars with those motors which have done 300-400 kkm and they are fine, but it needs a proper 0w30/5w30 oil changed every 10kkm and dynamic style of driving with a mostly highway driving.
This year and spec a7 is my absolute dream car, love the looks and everything about it, its phenomenal but this oil pressure issue is definitely concerning, 100k miles and the bottom end is probably close to being gone! Apparently vag came up with a software update for there to raise the pressure but this is rubbish. Me ol 2l tdi volvo v50 is at 250k miles and still runs pornographical, bloody new cars...
You need to change the brake servo sensor, failure to do this will result in ABS pump packing in. The cost for this will be in access in £1500 to £3000.
Make sure you use the adaption to increase the oil pressure for the first thousand kilometres. Without that, you will invalidate the warranty on the new engine.
Dean another great video, I've got a 2016 A6 s line black edition, my heads up display stuck in the up position, It won't go down when you turn off the ignition. Is there some way of making it work. A secret pass. Press this 5 times then this 7 times etc. Lol. Any help much appreciated. Simon.
No Freakin way!! So, I have a couple Audi's and a 2015 Jetta 1.8T tsi that has now started flashing the red oil light at idle. I had no idea of the 2500rpm trigger. But now it makes a whole lot of sense. I just assumed that just like a lot of high mileage cars, it was just having a low oil pressure at low rpm, NOT it actually being IN the software to do so. So, with a Volkswagen at 180k, I feel like the motor and oil pump is fine, just this bad solenoid. Is there a way to de-program that solenoid without hurting the motor? I've already disabled the traction control without any buttons to make it a tire roaster! There's Always a way!
Sorry Dean, but I have given up trying to buy tickets. I've been to the website. Tried to buy 8 tickets, asked me to log in, which I did, went to pay with PayPal, and it wouldn't let me it asked me to log in, which I already did. Took me back to PayPal and wouldn't let me pay. I have tried it on different devices and got the same result. The same thing happened in your last competition. I have given up.
Win some Audi 3.0 TDI’s here: competeforcars.co.uk/current-competitions/
Expensive I checked autotrader website and you can get this car from 24 -25k

it just needed oil to get fully through the whole engine .. it is always like that long cranking untill oil will reach VVT solenoid valve ...
@1m30s thats utter insanity this (apparent) emission reducing stuff all things considered are an absolute net negative in their own right and ONLY a tax on the consumer one way or another inc maintenance/repair costs...
15k service intervals are insanity too
Agree, low oil pressure below 2.5krpm is madness, these cars spend most of their time in that range
What a great idea to lower the oil pressure on a diesel until 2500 rpm!! Great video, as always.
is there a way to code it out?
It seems an utterly insane decision to take.

I’ve recently scrapped my 2016 Allroad because of a catastrophic engine failure probably linked to the same issue
Totally amazed how you do this all on your own! Kudos
Completely agree with you on long life servicing, i had to rebuild my c5 2.5TDI cams and followers worn out, the claims then were long life servicing to blame. Love the SQ5 i have brought some tickets.
Great video, Dean. One of my favourite mechanics on UA-cam. Very professional as always well done buddy.
AUDI. Always Under Diagnostic Investigation. 😂
Would bloody love this as a replacement family car. My 1.6tdi is on its last legs! Great build and video Dean
Thanks 👍
I have a 1969 dodge charger RT putting a new loom in that is hard enough!
Fair play on what you do with these cars!
Nice work. Get that oil pressure map fix done mate. Vagtechnic do it iirc

Brilliant as always best on you tube ..👍👍👍👍
I may of commented before watching the whole thing but can the low oil pressure thing be coded out of the ecu? Sounds like a nightmare to be honest.
I'd be blanking off the DPF too whilst at it.
Was really good and the info for future proofing was spot on Dean
Been waiting for this one Dean...
Never seen a man more excited to see a 3.0 diesel start
Hey looks nice but that oil pressure software fix is really needed, just because there is new oil wont fix the low pressure issues
Great video again ! You are a Top Mechanic !!
Nice dean been waiting on this build pal
Hope you enjoy it!
Another great solo video , well done.
The sparking at the back of the engine on the red wire!
Yeah didn’t tighten the bolt up, was only on lose.
Watching from Botswana
Watching from Mogadishu
Dean you’re a top man
Great content as always
Your videos always stand out from the crowd. Thank you for your creativity and unique way of looking at the world!⛏😱🍎

Lovely car, I’m in for this. What’s happening with the Lamborghini, any videos incoming?
Ich habe dieses Video meinen Kindern gezeigt, und jetzt lachen sie so laut, dass die Nachbarn vorbeikamen, um zu sehen, was passiert ist💝
Brilliant as always Dean.
Great content Dean. Great prize for one lucky ticket buyer.
Good video mate top content as always
Runs sweet Dean 👍
great Video Dean I’ve bought my ticket wish me luck!
£15000 for a new engine might as well put new injectors in ?
Where do you stop though? £300 each, then turbo, alternator etc 😅
Point was demonstrating how to take old off 😳
maybe just as an idea the injectors should have been run through a cleaning device/service
Why? Would you say that if it was a second hand engine? ….. new engine why not nut and bolt restore the whole car…. Is that your logic?
You need to find away to code out that low oil pressure function, that's bonkers!
Fab job making this one sound good
Fantastic job well done
What a great car, bought my tickets, fingers crossed.. will definitely take the car 😅
Scissor lift just needs more jack oil or a new washer same thing happened with mine
Good to see this channel growing, I was subbed since like 30k you were trying to save this mk4 golf 1.6 petrol that you got for £250?
Press left arrow on steering wheel....stops the bleeping
nice looking car dean great videos as usual
Been waiting for this 🎉🎉
Great video lad 👏
Well done Dean great job
Hope u put oil o rings in the injectors (half up)cause if u don’t it will piss oil out 🤙🏻
isn't there a way to deactivate and always set the solenoide in the open position so that you have normal oil pressure and not restricted pressure ?
watching from Republic of South Africa
Hi Dean . Great content. Re. Your scissor table .you might need a750kg rated one .😃
The one I’ve got is 800kg 🤣
@SavingSalvage good God really.
Every time you turn the engine over. There was a sparkling of the red wire at the back of the engine bay
Good on ya
Thanks 👍
Love the a7 will definitely get a ticket for this one
Something is sparking on back off block just before it starts
Thanks
Make sure you use the adaption to increase the oil pressure for the first thousand kilometres. Without that, you will invalidate the warranty on the new engine.
I tried to do it. Wouldn’t work
I like the look of these Audis
Great video dean.
No drama's for once.
Amazing isn’t it 😂
Dean I have a S5 3.0TDI V6 MEHV did they change the software on the B9.5 to ensure this isn't an ongoing issue? If no my S5 is going down the road!! 👍
Dean another great video, I've got a 2016 A6 s line black edition, my heads up display stuck in the up position, It won't go down when you turn off the ignition. Is there some way of making it work. A secret pass. Press this 5 times then this 7 times etc. Lol. Any help much appreciated. Simon.
Any way to ensure that the software does not kill the engine again?
You need to increase oil pressure in vcds
Does the oil pressure issue affect the Bi-Turbo models as well?
The start of the video was so on point, definitely vibing with it.
What a load of 💩
Bot at work
Love sitting here, watching armchair mechanics😱🤪well done again👍💪
Nardo RS6 in the background 👀👀
Could that reduction in oil pressure be mapped out of the ecu ?
No Freakin way!! So, I have a couple Audi's and a 2015 Jetta 1.8T tsi that has now started flashing the red oil light at idle. I had no idea of the 2500rpm trigger. But now it makes a whole lot of sense. I just assumed that just like a lot of high mileage cars, it was just having a low oil pressure at low rpm, NOT it actually being IN the software to do so. I've already disabled the traction control without any buttons to make it a tire roaster! There's Always a way!
Press the select button on your handle to silence the sound
So this engine is going to fail again due to software or is there a fix for that?
It took 100k to fail and that’s with 18k service intervals. So if you stick to every 10k miles from now on IMO will last much much longer.
@ thank you
I think VAG Techniq do a software update to fix the low oil pressure.
Great job.
Do you reset the milage now?
Whats the road tax like for both audis with the new changes?
What was going on with the sparking from the red power wire when first priming engine up and again when first started ?
Competition website not taking payment. Warning: Undefined array key
What happens with the milage fitting a new engine? Does it go back to zero?
No don’t change the mileage as the rest of the car has still done that. Just record when the new engine was fitted so you know the mileage of it
How do u enter your competition the new one for the Audi?
Is that red wire under the wiper arms is spoken
Gigidy gigidy 😂🤣😂🤣
Giggety 😂😂
Nice job Dean
A beautiful car did you put proper coolant in it 😅
Hope its an RS7 next
Have they not done a software update to change the oil pressure on tick over?
I don’t think from Audi directly, I may be wrong though
Please get a towing eye cover 👍
Pressing left or right on the steering wheel will stop that irritating bong
Hi mate what computer do you use?
watching from the dying republic of Kenya 😂😂😂😂
What was that spark at back of engine when turning it over?
Didn’t tighten the positive connection, was just on a few turns
Watching from home
Enjoy
😆😆😆😆😆
In my opinion if you have camera man the video better to attach people's
Yeah it would be better but it’s difficult to arrange.
@SavingSalvage
You have my phone number, i work shifts so very often I'm available and I'm only down the road!
5k mile oil changes ANY car....only a fool would choose another route....
Didn’t you say the engine failed from no oil pressure at idle and you let the car sit there and idle 😂
It did 97,000 miles like that so it will be fine. Especially with clean thin oil in 😁
Sorry Dean, but I have given up trying to buy tickets.
Hi mate, sorry to hear! Can you email us and we can manually sort the tickets if you wish? Thanks Dean 🙌🏼
Take a look at the engine on first crank. There’s a bad connection/arc from the main battery cable at the rear of the engine.
Is it just me or is the website down ? Won’t let me check out and pay
Seems to working okay bud, what’s the exact issue you’re having?
11:18 sparky
Yeah I loosely screwed the terminal on and didn’t do it up tight till after 😆
Towing eye cover??
I’m sure I have it somewhere, if not I’ll get one 👍🏻
Sounds ticky to be brand new?😅
That’s the injectors
