First time grease gun owner here.I should have watched this first today BEFORE I loaded mine. It would have saved me 1/2 of the cartridge and about 40 sheets of shop towels. Great video. The 46 people who gave you thumbs down must be really fun to be around.....
B W Don't feel bad. Just today I bought a mini grease gun. After fumbling my way through loading it, it got an air pocket. I thought it was empty, so I unscrewed the top. Big mistake.
I never ever leave comments on anything but I felt as though it was needed for this video. For such an "easy" thing that can get messed up very quickly your video addressed every concern that one could have loading a grease gun. Your video was so candid, useful, and clear and concise. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you I haven't loaded a grease gun for 30 yrs or more and after trying to force the cartridge in the wrong way I realized I needed a refresher. I followed your instructions and had the success I was looking for. No spills, no mess and no waste. Thank you very much.
No mad music, no waffle, straight down to business.....wish more videos were like yours. Fabulous! Even if it was a grease gun! Thank you much appreciated!
I’ve been struggling with this issue for the last 30 years. I don’t do it often so spooning it in was my lame desperate attempt. My dad passed at a young age and he was great at this stuff and I had used his shop. UA-cam to the rescue…should have done this a decade ago! Great and thanks.
Steve, we all have to start somewhere. Little by little you'll get better at it and whatever else you want to learn in life. Thanks for watching the video.
Managed to load mine successfully few months ago after watching your video and now i am watching this again before reloading. Thank you for the time for making this video.
Thank you for actually explaining at the end. What do you do if you’re still not getting a prime. This is exactly what was happening to me and no one else was talking about that part.
If it’s a brand new gun it will take many pumps to prime the long flexible tube. If you have easy access, it helps to fill the cap with grease before screwing it all back together.
It's the first time I changed a cartridge in a grease gun. I figured 'how hard can it be'? After about 25 minutes of unsuccessfully trying to get it, I gave up. I found your video, and in 2 minutes it was done. Thank you.
I recently bought a jetski. I had no prior knowledge of engines or mechanic work. Read the manual, "please fill grease in the nipple with a grease gun". Eh what? Managed to buy a grease gun but had no idea how to operate it... Found your video and it is awesome! Especially the part about the air-bubble. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge, saved my day! :)
Thank you for making such a great video ! I just purchased a grease gun to work on my snowblower and the salesman at the store had no idea how to load one. The instructions that came to the grease gun were horrible to follow. Your video answered all my questions and more and made it so easy. I took my time loading it as you recommended and it works just fine. :) Take care
Been in the tree business for over 30 years and we greased our chipper every other day but the owner always had the gun full so it has been 20 years since I loaded one. I have an old, very well made gun and needed to grease my dad's car but forgot exactly how to do it...then I thought hey UA-cam! They have evrything. So thanks a million. I didn't even have to watch the whole video,I remembered after you showed to load the tube in the top. Huge help....now where did I put my truck keys?
I am glad I watched your video. I bought a new grease gun as it was a piece of junk. I saw yours and found a Lincoln, bought it and it just arrived. I watched the video as I loaded it and it was so easy this time. I have tractors, trucks, zero turns etc.... on my farm and really needed this to work. Thanks for the easy to use video.
My GAWD!!!!! WHY did I not find this EARLIER, in life, not just this morning!! You sir, are not only the quintessential teacher, but your relation to being in a hurry is spot on!! Every time you need something to work or be easy, nope!! LMAO!! Subbed!!! Marion.
Nice laid back video. No goofy sound effects, yelling and screaming. I feel like you were next to me teaching me something I never could do right in all my years on this planet...........Until now! This is something I was afraid to ask my friends about because I would probably get razzed about it. Thanks for your help.
That was my point of making this video. Not having to be the guy that gets picked on for asking how to load a grease gun. Mission accomplished. Truth is I showed you the way I was taught at my first job when I was 16 with a few tweaks I've learned through the years.
Good video.. You're the first person that's ever suggested leaving it loose on top like that to allow air to pass.. Had that problem many times over the years thanks for taking time to break it down
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to post this. Been years since I had to load a grease gun. Saved me and others a bunch of time and frustration by looking this up first. Cheers, Nigel
thank you for being the first (that I have seen so far) to warn people about locking the handle back before loading the grease tube :) I have seen the grease missiles far to often. great video
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video! I don’t know why, but out of all the stuff I do, I always screw this process up. And you are right.... when you’re tired and in a hurry (which is me most of the time) things go wrong. Great video and thanks again!
Thank you. My love always did this so I never learned. Now I have to do it and I have made a mess (whole tubes of grease everywhere) I decided I needed to go to you tube university. Nice and clear instruction with a quick troubleshoot. It is easy but not when your clueless. Thank you again.
Thanks. Many years ago I did this on a regular basis. The last time I did it was about 10 - 12 years ago and I forgot how to do it. I remember there is a direct relation between the critical nature of replacing the cartridge and the number of problems you have.
The first grease gun I loaded belonged to my grandfather. This was in the 1960's and if grease cartirages were available then, he didn't have any. He told me to plunge the barrel of the gun into his pail of grease as I drew back on the plunger so it would suck the grease into the barrel. I don't think I'll ever live long enough to develop the coordination to do that without getting grease everywhere. The cartridges are a vast improvement but I still manage to grease myself up pretty well. This video and some of the comments might help. Thanks!
Thanks . I never had loaded one before and what a mess of it before finally getting it cobbled back together again. this makes it look so easy and I realize now that I should have looked it up on youtube. great to learn.
Very useful video! Still good after all these years, helped me avoid a big mess while greasing my RV axles. Can't believe I had never done this before, think of the joy I was missing.
Yes sir, the way I have done it for 40 years too, simple, clean, quick and no tools. Thank you for sharing and also saving me from making a video like this, well done!
I work in a green house with a front store attached to it and I have to grease the shopping carts today ive never used a grease gun before and this video helped alot thanks man
I have to agree with on the fact that things tend to go wrong more often when you need them to go right. Murphy once said that a buttered piece of bread will fall face down more often based on the quality of flooring. Great video.
I rebuilt my f250 10 years before youtube was launched. In the process I bought what appeared to be a good quality american made grease gun. It never worked and I got grease all over. But the parts were so nicely made, the hoarder in me wouldn't let me toss it. Recently I accidentally ordered a grease cartridge instead of a tube and I figured why not? As simple as your instructions are, I obviously managed to get it wrong without instructions in the dark ages. Many thanks, it's working great. I think I'll go lube something now.
Just got home with my new grease gun. Thanks a bunch. Serious pegboard envy, bruh! Got tons of tools on mine, but not as pretty as your military-worthy formation.
Hey thanks a lot for the video man! I actually just got my first grease gun today I borrow them from others in the past but it was time to make the plunge pardon the pun. Your video was exactly what I needed and got me up and running .
I just had to buy grease for the first time ever and didn't even know I needed a grease gun... so grateful for people making videos like this for noobs like me!
Damnit, the instructions were crappy, and you showed me I did it correctly, but the Lincoln instructions were not completely understood because they only showed one end of the gun to fill, simple if explicit thanks
I've replaced the cartridge before, but this time it wouldn't work after installing the new cartridge. However, after I followed your instructions concerning the air pocket, the grease gun works perfectly. Thank you for your help.
This was very helpful. I have been missing a step in the cartridge loading process. I wish that I saw your video before I launched my new grease gun into the garbage can....lol Thank you.
Great video and instructions! Not only did you tell me how but you anticipated what I would do wrong. Wish I had watched your video before I loaded (actually, attempted to load) my grease gun. But watched your video, corrections were made and I salvaged about half of my grease cartridge. Most importantly, I successfully greased the spindles on my zero turn riding mower.
BIG thanks. It seems so simple, but for the life of me I couldn't get mine to work. After getting grease everywhere, I found you on youtube and now the gun works. THANKS
At work I have been given the task of greasing a few machines and have never had to use a grease gun before. The dude who changed my tube out did it really sloppy like. I told him there had to be a certain way to do it that's not a pain. So here I am. Thanks!
Thank you that explaination was exactly what I needed. I had to laugh when you said “when I was younger I used to try and ...”. That’s what I say even if the dumb thing I tried to do was yesterday. 🤭

a hotlink should be included in the instruction for the greasegun & everything else. i've strugled w/mine today but this video popped up first when i've googled it. it made my day.
Thank you! I was beginning to think that I was doing something wrong because every time I would grab the grease gun to use it, I would always have to fiddle with it.
I use my grease gun about once ever year and so I only need to load a cartridge every 5-8yrs. Got the cartridge loaded correctly, not no grease was coming out. It was an air bubble issue. Thanks!
Air in the system happens fairly often. You can either open the gun and push it out like I showed or pump the grease gun a gazillion times to get it out. I prefer the first option.
The plunger thing is called the following rod. It gradually moves forward to let you know you're out of grease. Now that you pushed it in, you won't know.
I wish I had this to show a new guy at work. We new he was green.. if you every had a grease gun pop on you....well, least we say. its messy. We had a good laugh....cleaned up. then showed him how to load the greaser.

Every couple years I come back to this same Video. UA-cam can be a great resource!
Wow! Thanks for that. Glad the video is helping.
10 years later still making people's day easier. Great vid
