This is one of the best and underrated UA-cam channels! I’m a terrible woodworker, but I am an EE with a love of RC drones and amateur radio, so I will definitely be using these great techniques. Thank you!
My success with use and storage of Superglue over the last 45 years or so has always been hit and miss. This one video has told me where I'm going wrong. Huge thanks.
Thank you for your comment, and you're welcome! Please see my other videos with more to come! David Riddle P.S. Please share your success after you tried water-thin CA, accelerator, and my techniques, looking for your additional comments.
There’s a special magic that happens when you listen to a master talk so passionately about their craft and the details of their techniques. Such a treasure trove of valuable information and it’s had me question some of my own preconceptions around the use of CA glue, especially around wood working. Would love to see some of this knowledge applied to plastic and metal applications (especially as someone passionate about 3D printing).
You guys rock. I can't wait to see what you guys have next up your sleeve's! What an amazing mind, his speech is so great and fluid and you can just tell how intelligent he is just simply by his speech alone. His producer is a perfect match, keeping him on track, and making sure to be a great connection between the audience and the inventor himself. I just love this stuff. I'm going to be watching all night I'm sure. I'm a 30-ish women, so I hope you know that this material is very appealing to at least ME in the demographic that I am apart of. Albeit I've been told I'm an old soul and I enjoy working with my hands and do not have a Facebook...so take that with a grain of salt in regards to "my" demographic. Haha. Thank you so much for this much needed, engaging, interesting educational entertainment!
Thank you for your comment, and you're welcome. I consider myself one of the luckiest individuals that ever existed on this planet! I was born post-WWII into an American culture that told us that Americans were exceptional in every way, we did have the best government, the best automobiles, the best movies, and the best music. Americans invented the transistor, and put men on the moon, just to name two! We were also told by this culture and my parents, that America and the world did not owe me absolutely anything! I was responsible to use this incredible opportunity to make my way through life using my brain, and a diligent work ethic, all while conforming to the social contract. I was raised by a father who was in the U.S Navy; he fought in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He taught me and my siblings what it meant to go beyond what people expect of you; when you make a promise, always over-deliver on that promise. My mother was a registered nurse and a feminist in the 1950's: she cared for, and taught my brother and sisters, how to be fearless in life. Both my father and mother, gave me and my siblings everything we needed in life: love, affection, a home, education, encouragement--accolades when we did well, and punishment when we were bad. They gave us nothing that we wanted; no allowance only what we truly needed. For what we wanted, we were encouraged to find work in our neighborhood for my brother and me; washing cars, mowing lawns, and picking trash cans. For my sisters baby-sitting, house-cleaning, making candy and lemonade for sale. When we spent that money on our wants, we immediately discovered that what we received was not worth the labor we put in, It taught us the value of our efforts. My brother and sisters all became successful in our chosen fields, paid all of our bills, owned homes, had children and grandchildren. I worry that our children and grandchildren, will never have the experiences and opportunities that we had in the American culture we grew up in, It saddens me very deeply. David Riddle P.S. Also, feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 (Pacific time), I'd be very interested to talk to you about the work you do! David Riddle

Great vid and channel in general. Thank you, gentleman. For any skiers out there, I've been using JB weld as a ski base repair for years with perfect results.
Dave, 2 questions. 1. Do you prefer storing it in a freezer or refrigerator? 2. The problem i ran into from keeping a larger bottle in the fridge is the screw on cap keeps glueing to the bottle and I can't get it open. How do we prevent that?
Thank you for your comment and questions, large (8oz-freezer, cap very tightly and use pliers to open it). Stay tuned for more informational videos. David Riddle

Nice job, including Mr. Producer's great organization (including chapter/question links). I've had a chance now to spin up on BSI's website and other UA-cam channels' CA tips & tricks, and one thing is seems pretty clear :: thin CA use-case info is, well, very thin. But it looks as if you have already realized that and intend to remedy it....

I had a particular application where JB weld was the solution. I first used the Kwik version and wasn't exactly satisfied with the self-leveling that occurred. Thinking that the longer cure time of the original would result in better leveling of the cured surface I tried it. To my surprise, the Kwik was better at self-leveling than the original...
Thank you for your comment, and story, by using a heat gun, the JB-WELD and the JB-KWIK both will reduce in viscosity dramatically and self-level! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment, we are indeed assembling all of the documents and actual items needed to make a comprehensive video detailing many of my inventions and products I've marketed. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment, and question, you can purchase online, BSI "UN-CURE" CA debonder, or use acetone, or place your stuck skin under the hottest water you can stand plus dish detergent, and the skin will slowly debond because CA is not waterproof! David Riddle
A fan of JSB superthin for years. The only addition I have to offer: crushed walnut shell makes a great filler for bulk repairs. It's available as a sandblasting medium and as 'sand' for pet burrowing lizards.
Question… I stripped out a pull up bar screw. Can I use your baking soda and Super Glue technique to repair the threads in the wood so that I can re-mount my pull up bar?
I have been able to use super glue to bond to PP plastic with proper preparation. The area needs be sanded and clean of anything oily. Then I rub baking soda into the area to be bonded . I believe the baking soda is causing bonds to form around microscopic edges of the plasti. I believe the method would also work on PE and HDPE. I’m not sure how strong the bond is as I was using this method to glue plastic eyes onto a homemade fishing lure that was PP on the outside.
Thank you for your comment and suggestions, by prepping the surface with course sandpaper providing a "tooth" and rubbing the sanded surface with baking soda, will most definitely improve the strength of the bond on any material. David Riddle
Hi Dave. What is this oily glue that is now on the market, any good? Thanks for all the little nuggets of information, looking forward to many more. You could have your assistant asking questions all the way through the videos, sometimes the best information is ad-libbed as you remember bits and pieces of info. Best wishes from UK.
I've heard that crazy glue was invented as a way to close deep lacerations in the theater of war during WW2. I've personally had a deep cut glued together with a product called Dermabond by a doctor which I believe is a form CA. What do know about this? Oh and I have personally experienced the incredible theater that Dave has constructed and it is the most visceral, physical audio with absolute clarity one could ever hear and feel. Thank You
This is really good info. Thanks. If you haven't already, can you make a video demonstrating the o-ring making process? Oh, and I still have and use my early 80's vintage JBL 4311B control monitor speakers.
Thank you for your comment, and we may indeed make a video demonstrating the o-ring making process plus other gluing of rubber. Did you see the videos about Infinite Environments? Just click on the "more" link. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and question, yes, after sanding with 80-grit paper to form a mechanical "tooth" on both surfaces, CA first requires an oil and wax free surface to bond properly, use a clean paper towel and acetone to remove all surface contamination. Feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 PDT, and I'll be glad to assist you in specific application of CA! David Riddle
As someone who has been a tinker forever, and is just getting into designing/inventing products for sale.... I'm really keen on hearing more about Dave's product's and some of the lesson's he has learned along the way!
Thank you for your comment, and question, I've done this same repair with water-thin CA, simply clean all of the components with acetone, assemble the components, lift up the rubber tires enough to inject the CA around the entire perimeter of the wheels, both sides, then spray-on the accelerator and your done! David Riddle
Super cool stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My question is if I mix baking soda and super glue and made a patch for something metal if I painted it after would it then be waterproof being out side ? I saw a UA-cam using Ramen noodles and super glue to make a patch what's your take on that gimic for clicks and views , or is there some validity to that mixture .
Thank you for your comment, accolades and question, I've utilized CA and baking soda for many years as a filler for metal, once fully painted, it becomes water-proof. Ramon noodles, never have tried that! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment, and I hope this and my other videos help you and other individuals in making our work easier and more fulfilling. David Riddle
Interesting. Some questions: Cyanoacrylate reacts to moisture, is that an anaerobic reaction? I thought that meant "without air" and that the CA reacted to moisture in the material or the air. Activator causing exothermic reaction to harden? Never heard of that either. I always thought that it was the polymerization itself that was exothermic and that the accelerator, which speeds up the reaction (intensifying the exothermic event) doesn't cause an exothermic reaction. Need to read up on this it seems. Sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language.
Thank you for your comment and questions, since cyanoacrylate is an anaerobic cement, and is why there is always an air-space above the glue in the bottle, there is no need to cap the Teflon tube! If you wish to transport the bottle, simply put a pin into the end of the tube. David Riddle
I was looking for this exact comment to question. I think it’s aerobic which it’s cures with air’s moisture hence why some people use alcohol sprits as an accelerant not sure how this differs from normal activator since I myself use the purchase stuff. Loctite thread locker is anaerobic which is an absence of air to harden, hence why the bottle is designed to breathe. Unless there’s different mixtures between brands for CA…
Thank you for your comment and question, you didn't mention what type of wood that you wish to glue to the brass, but many woods will bond well to brass with CA if you follow these steps: use 60-grit sandpaper on the gluing surface of the brass to form a "tooth" or micro-crevices on the brass, and then clean the surface with acetone and a clean paper towel. Clean the wood the same way and let it fully dry, place the brass on the wood, using your finger to hold the brass in place, place the tip of the nozzle around the perimeter of the brass and dispense the CA, letting it flow around and under the brass and wood interface using the capillary action of water-thin CA, apply the CA again until it no longer soaks-in, and then spray on the accelerator. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and question, cyanoacrylate is not water-proof, it slowly will dissolve in water, that is why if you get any CA on the surface of your skin, with repeated hand washing, it is sloughed off. If you wish to use CA in an outdoor environment, simply encapsulate CA with solvent-based paint, even clear nail-polish! For all types of adhesives, the success of a durable joint is totally dependent on the characteristics of the materials to be joined. Feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 (Pacific time), and I'll glad to personally make specific recommendations depending on the type of materials you wish to join! David Riddle
I would love to hear more about the carb tune and also what you said about cameras in Forrest Gump. I love inventing and understand your passion. Great videos, straight to the point.
The instructions on the bottle of BSI accelerator say not to use with thin CA. What are your thoughts on why they would say that since it works so well for your purposes? I’ve used it for my small repairs with no issues, but I wonder why BSI would warn against it.
Thank you for your comment and question, the reason is when accelerator is used with thin CA, the rapid polymerization process tends to cause the thin CA to flow away, pushing it into places you may not want it to go! David Riddle
Thanks for the quick reply. How then do you decide when or when not to use accelerator in your projects? When wouldn’t you use it? BTW, your IKEA project was pretty impressive.
Love your videos! FYI, Starbond has a flexible CA and it's AMAZING. I used it to widen a yoga matt for my table saw topper when I'm not using it. Highly recommend.
Thank you for your comment and question, no, CA is an anaerobic cement and without air (as in a syringe), it will instantly lock up the syringe! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and question, as with all cyanoacrylate glues, all will bond skin tenaciously! The water-thin type flows and capillaries very easily onto skin. David Riddle
Yes, if you glue leather to leather you better go with contact cement, it stays flexible. But, I know cobblers have to use super glue in some instants. As far as I remember he told me especially foam soles to rubber he can only bond with superglue. So to a certain extend it is flexible enough to keep a sole on a shoe. But I guess it will be all cracked but it still bonds. LOL, just came to the point he actually talks about the shoe soles…
Thank you for your comment, and you're welcome! Don't hesitate to call me (my PDT phone number is in the description) if you have additional questions or comments. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment, accolades, and you're welcome. simply go on the internet and search the following: "BSI Insta Cure super thin cyanoacrylate 2 oz", and you will find many suppliers willing to ship to Germany, also go to the links in the description area of this video, click on the "...more" and you will see the links. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and question, I've used CA on leather belts to hold up my pants (to repair the leather in re-attaching the buckle and to reinforce the holes), and on my leather lathe belting, both of these applications, the rigidity of the leather fibers were not a consideration. But you are correct, leather does indeed become very stiff using CA! David Riddle
Does the CA glue stick to a waxed surface (oil and wax mix)? I want to repair a plastic (threaded) nut, which is cracked. But I don't want the glue to fill the threads on the inside of the nut. I want the nut to be used the same way it was used before it was broken.
Thank you for your comment and question, no, CA requires an oil and wax free surface to bond properly. I would need additional information as to why you want to repair the nut instead of replacing it? Feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 PDT, and I'll be glad to assist you in this repair! David Riddle
I've used CA and accelerate to repair the glass face of a watch (filled then buffed out), which I learned from repairing clear coat scratches on learjet interiors
Since CA glue cures from moisture, wouldn't moisture in the air start the polymerization if left open to the atmosphere? I live in Hawaii, high humidity...
Thank you for your comment and question, no need to seal the bottle, cyanoacrylate is an anaerobic cement. To transport it or store it, just insert a needle into the Teflon tip. David Riddle
The question on the glue drying out comes from a southern high humidity states that can run 3 to 5 months with 80 humidity We have trouble with the tube.Stopping up needles getting stuck in just because of the moisture in the air. I'd rather deal with 3 to 6 ounce bottles And I can stretch that to her three months. The problem with high humidity and wood is. Outside of these high humidityou're ended up using outdoor Using tightype bond would go for outside glue wood together. Kind of found if acetone or MEK Well, soften the 2 pieces. You're trying to glue together?Super glue work very well in those circumstances. I have been known to put answer tone on the 2 parts.I want the blue glue together and then take a wire brush. And scrape unreal good and then Apply the super glue and it's almost impossible to break. I'm quarreling as the town will remove the super glue. But if it's a nylon or plastic it will also melt equipment so you have to be real careful what you use.
The present day accelerater is very different from what I used early 90s, today accellerator is oily and what oddly smells more like strawberries? The old stuff appeared to be semi gaseous causing extreme setting up of the glue, too much glue/accel would off gas quickly leaving a cloud of smoke. ZAP CA brand.
Thank you for your comment and question, I've only used BSI "Insta-Set" accelerator which is not like what you described, the BSI product works very well. David Riddle
The small containers of C.A. @ Harbor Freight are watery thin. I think they sell thicker one's so watch out. I like the small container because you don't have to screw around with them, If you have trouble with the container just throw it out and get another. Very cheap.
Thank you for your comment, and suggestion, I hope this and my other videos help you and other individuals in making our work easier and more fulfilling. David Riddle
Mercury Adhesives makes a variety of superglues, and I've had success with all of them I've tried. I've repaired plates, bowls, and cups, but just sink wash them with dish detergent and water and don't put them through a dishwasher cycle.
I amazed by some of the adhesives used to glue things like wire baskets for shampoo, soaps etc to the tile walls in showers. I might add these plastic backers are near impossible to remove. Can you explain some of the more aggressive adhesives that can bear incredible shear forces in or under water.
Just one comment or rather emphasis on the use of CA glue on vehicle windshields. It’s a big NO. CA glue does not nove much with changes in temperature while glass moves. Using CA glue for such an application will almost certainly crack your windshield!
We just found out my 5 year old grandson(only grandchild) is at a 139 IQ or above. My mission it to expose him to youtube videos like yours. Thank You so much
Thank you for your comment, and you're welcome. Just to let you know, at age ten my mother took my to a physiologist to test my IQ because she wanted to enroll me into program for "gifted children" at the local university. My mother must have paid-off the physiologist to get a higher score because when I was involved in this program, all the other kids were more intelligent than I certainly was! My only real strength is "high-acutance, minds-eye previsualization" and "hyper-pragmatism" (please see my invention video for a complete explanation). Also, feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 (Pacific time), I'd love to talk to you! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and question, no, CA when used on cloth forms a ridged inflexible bond of the fibers, after repeated washings, you will discover an even bigger hole! David Riddle

As someone who has been a tinker forever, and is just getting into designing/inventing products for sale.... I'm really keen on hearing more about Dave's product's and some of the lesson's he has learned along the way!
Thank you for your comment and question, feel-free to call me (my number is below title) I'd like to talk with you! David riddle
Hello Mr. Riddle
What type of adhesive would you recommend to bond neoprene rubber bandsaw tires to cast iron bandsaw wheels? Thank you.
There are several videos just search super glue and Ramen noodles. I'm thinking it's just for clicks and views .
But ya never know
Thank you for your time.
Great job!!
Thank you for your comment. David riddle
Can you glue brass to wood well?
David Riddle
is there an alternative glue that is waterproof (for plastic outside in the rain and for glass (inside)?

You Sir, are a "Super Glue-ru!"
Thank you for your comment, accolades and humor! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and suggestion. David Riddle
Can you put CA glue in a syringe? And can you store it there ?
Thank you for your comment and question, no, CA is an anaerobic cement and without air (as in a syringe), it will instantly lock up the syringe! David Riddle
Is there a danger of bonding skin with the CA water thin glue?
Thank you for your comment and accolades! Stay tuned for more informational videos. David Riddle
Wow! I just asked a question on the original video and here I am 2 mins later watching you answering my very question!! Amazing
Thank you for your comment, this is precisely why we made this second video! David Riddle
Love this guy
Thank you for your comment, and you're welcome! Don't hesitate to call me (my PDT phone number is in the description) if you have additional questions or comments. David Riddle
Hi, danke für Ihr super Video. In Germany gibt es kein Super Glue. Welche Glue empfehlen Sie in Germany?
Thank you for your comment, accolades, and you're welcome. simply go on the internet and search the following: "BSI Insta Cure super thin cyanoacrylate 2 oz", and you will find many suppliers willing to ship to Germany, also go to the links in the description area of this video, click on the "...more" and you will see the links. David Riddle
Great video Excelente Thanks
Thank you for your comment and accolades. David Riddle
Is the repair gas solvable if repairing a fuel can?
Thank you for your comment and question, cyanoacrylate is definitely not for repairing fuel cans! David Riddle
How to use on leather if it is not flexible?
@@HowToHomeLife I have not been able to find another one of the same size.
@@KellyVisionPictures Again, feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 PDT, and I'll be glad to assist you in this repair! David Riddle
I've used CA and accelerate to repair the glass face of a watch (filled then buffed out), which I learned from repairing clear coat scratches on learjet interiors
Thank you for your comment and suggestions, CA is certainly a useful material! David Riddle
Thank you for your comment and suggestions. David Riddle
now you're going to have to do a video on different glues. 😂
Thank you for your comment and we are currently adding videos. David Riddle
Thank you for your comment. David riddle
So glad I subscribed to your channel you guys are cool 👍🤗🏋️♀️🏎️☦️
Thank you for your comment. David riddle
I amazed by some of the adhesives used to glue things like wire baskets for shampoo, soaps etc to the tile walls in showers. I might add these plastic backers are near impossible to remove. Can you explain some of the more aggressive adhesives that can bear incredible shear forces in or under water.
Thank you for your comment and question, feel-free to call me (my number is below title) I'd like to talk with you! David riddle
Just one comment or rather emphasis on the use of CA glue on vehicle windshields. It’s a big NO. CA glue does not nove much with changes in temperature while glass moves. Using CA glue for such an application will almost certainly crack your windshield!
Thanks Mark
I have a nice polo shirt with a small hole on it, can you fix it with CA glue??
Thank you for your comment and question, no, CA when used on cloth forms a ridged inflexible bond of the fibers, after repeated washings, you will discover an even bigger hole! David Riddle
Why your producer in rush?
Thank you for your comment, and question, Jon my producer simply wants to pack as much information into every video we produce! David Riddle P.S. Do indeed see my other videos for additional information and techniques with CA and my invention video where all of these methods came from!
Thank you David. 👍😎👍

Dukes of Hazzard John Schneider?
Different Jon Schneider!
Don’t leave the glue around anything that is zinc plated or high quality hinges used in cabinets. It will ruin the hardware.
Thank you for your comment, but I was unaware zinc was affected by cyanoacrylate or It's fumes, could you please explain? David Riddle
Don't use cyanoacrylate around or on Snowflakes.
Thank you for your comment and I'm assuming "snowflakes" is used as a metaphor for "candy asses"! David Riddle
