great watch, I have the SLA063, but would like the SLA051 or SLA049 .. missed a couple at $1500 recently, which I feel reflects the true value rather than the $2700 RRP.. After owning the grand Seiko derived movement and superior finishing of the SLA case, I would find it very difficult to going back to purchasing the cheaper SPB 6R35 movement watches. Only negative in my opinion was the bracelet, which whilst sufficient is not enough of a discernible difference to the SPB Willard bracelets. finishing is superior but still has a very similar clasp. At the full retail price they should be making something comparable to Tudor's clasps, other than that its a fantastic watch.
Another great thing about Seiko is the pre-owned market. Really good deals to be had all the time! I found out about the SLA063 after I bought the 049. It’s a toss up. They’re both great!
@@BrokeWatchFanatic although the sla063 is the more limited model at 500 pieces, I find the aurora blue green fume dial and blue bezel to be a little constraining, the colours make it more of a niche wear. More ideal for the summer IMO. The blue or the black versions are much more wearable, so I'll probably end up purchasing one of them if they come up below $1500 and add that to the collection.
@@BrokeWatchFanatic I just missed out on the sla049 and 051 at $1500 each, both were in virtually unused condition so they do come up. unfortunately I was still recovering from purchasing the 063 a couple of weeks back so couldn't pull the trigger.
Thanks for the video, mate! I just got one for myself and I'm loving it. This turtle shape has been an obsession of mine for the longest time, and now I can say it is officially satisfied... for the time being at least, lol.
Nice! Love mine. The movement is actually a revised GS (rather than the reverse), made for turning heavier hands. GS went on to make a next gen movement though.
Really appreciate the thoughtful insights - it seems like another durable Seiko. Waiting for an SLA051 to arrive. I've held off for three years, found a great deal on a nearly new example, with original box and papers. Decided to go with the grey version as I already have the SLA023, the blue version of the Marinemaster 300.
I had a limited edition captain Willard a few years ago it is the one without the Seiko prospect sign on it I sold it it has a great movement that will last a long time but I could not deal with the accuracy just paying too much money with disappointing accuracy comments from someone that has a Seiko LX titanium spring drive and Omega seamaster. Anyway, great video 😅
Ever thought about getting it regulated? I hear once it is, it is pretty accurate in all positions. Mine is about +3 to +4 seconds per day so I can manage.
Suuuper torn between this and the regular black model. This one is actually easier to find at a good price in the UK Part of me thinks the black/grey looks more correct and the red dot clashes with the blue. More versatile Other hand all I have is black pieces. The blue is so unique and tasteful How vibrant is it? Heard people say it almost appears black irl
It’s vibrant only when it’s really bright whether through sunlight or artificial light. If all you have is black dial watches, and you like blue, this is a no brainer.
Just seen the 051 sell for £1560 brand new! That was from House of Watches in the UK. I was going to buy it but it showed out of stock not long after. What a bargain!

You might have to add a couple of hundred on top for a very good condition one. Good luck!

Just got the 049 for $1470 on special offer, so am looking forward to its arrival 😉
This is the best colour variant of this watch in my opinion!
It really is!
Very nice watch. I have a modified version in blue. Great design.

I love anything SLA ❤ especially my 037
My thoughts exactly!

I would’ve done the same. The SLA023 is a stunning piece!
@@BrokeWatchFanatic The 300MM was such a grail for me, the SLA051 will hopefully complete my collection for a while!?
This is a big watch. Anyways its so beautiful
Very nice Seiko!
It is a fully decorated 8l35 movement, where do people get their info from.
Comparison between the Willard and your special edition turtle
I don’t have my Willard anymore unfortunately.
Also, can you recommend any straps variants? Much appreciated
I really like marine nationale straps. Especially Erika’s original. Custom made.

Thanks! Was it the SLA033? That one is special. How bad was the accuracy?
@@BrokeWatchFanatic 11 to 15 seconds
That would bother me as well 😟
Especially if you have Grand seiko Quartz
Seiko LX and Tuna Gshock titanium square, you just can not deal with it accuracy

좋은 시계 입니다.
The dial texture is very very subtle...
Love it 😍
@@BrokeWatchFanatic is it subtle... Or is it really visible.. I heard you can only really see the texture under a loop...
It is subtle. You can see the texture when it’s bright out.
