December 2024 and I prefer 1861 or 1863 every time. Sorry, but there is nothing about the 3861 to change my mind. No watch, no bracelet, no movement. If anything to reaffirm my preference of the 1861.

Which one would you choose navy or black

Its funny how taste changes as you grow, when i was younger i was all for the more flashy watches. But as I've grown thats changed. When i get to the stage of getting my firs rolex i woukd like to get the exploer. Its my style of watch the more plain jane style, after that id like to get the explorer ll. Dont get me wrong i still like the hulk but I've moved away from the styles of fluted bezel 2 tone rolexs or flashy dial's. With the acception to a meteorite dial its a bit of both.

This or the Longines spirit quality wise?

I have to admit that I am pretty much an Omega fanboy. Having said that I like these watches but they both are not perfect at all for me. The thing that bothers me the most at the current SMP is this cupcake He valve. It should in my opinion be less prominent, similar to the previous iterations of the SMP. Also the wave patter now is always visible. The older versions had embossed waves that were visible at times but seemingly disappeared in certain light conditions. Also the previous SMP had the Omega logo and writing applied, not just printed. Overall it's a good looking watch but I honestly prefer my pre ceramic 2220.80. At the Submariner it's the lense above the date window that annoys me. For me it takes away from the cleanliness and simplicity of the watch. If I ever am going to buy a Submariner it will definitely be one without date. But I'm not a huge fan of Rolex' business practices and that makes it unlikely that I am ever going to buy one of their watches. For me a new watch always has to bring something into my collection that hasn't been there yet. And the spot for a black dive watch is already occupied. By a first generation Omega Planet Ocean that I got from my father some months ago.

If it’s a watch in rotation, it would annoy me that I would have to check/correct the date when using it. Also really don’t like the polished center links on the DJ.

When I heard Omega was redesigning the Moonwatch I desided it was time to buy one, so I needed to find out which one I liked the most. Old or new. Tured out it was the 1861 old version. After a side-by-side comparison, I liked the case, lugs, end-links, dial and not the least: the chain of the old version the most. After five years, not a scratch on the hesallite either. Love the closed back - more like the real ones that went to the moon. 🚀⌚

I own both these watches - Seamaster in blue and a black Sub Date 126610LN. In all honesty, the Sub gets all the wrist time and I rarely wear the Seamaster anymore. It's just more versatile than the Seamaster which looks more sporty. It's also much more comfortable on the wrist, the Seamaster's bracelet is too sharp and uncomfortable and the watch is too heavy and "bulky" to be a true comfortable daily watch. There is no doubt either that the Sub is more iconic - it's instantly recognisable (which some people hate) and is "the" dive watch that everyone tries to emulate or takes some inspiration from in their designs (even the Seamaster). Technically, I would say they are the same in terms of specs and how "good" the watch is. The Omega wins in some aspecllllnd the Roex in others. In terms of value, again it's debatable. There is no doubt that you get more watch for your money with the Seamaster - it's half the price pretty much, even a third on the secondary market. But then if you are able to buy it at retail price and have the cash to get the Sub at retail, arguably the Rolex is better value, as it retains its value and actually can be sold for more on the secondary market than you bought it for, whereas the Seamaster will lose around 30%-40% of its value...overall, as an owner of both, I'd say if you have the funds for the Submariner then get it. If you don't, or you want bang for your buck, then go with the Seamaster. You can't go wrong either way - both are great!

it looks amazing - got the call from the dealer today to say mine has arrived. Just not sure on it with all the price drop talks. So torn. Love this piece so much... But is paying retail for one now worth while?
