  • Dan demonstrates how to fit and use our DD Whoopie Sling suspension kit. Totally adjustable and very lightweight, it's a brilliant hammock suspension system. It's simpler than it looks!

    Tip: If you have webbing already threaded through the sleeve of the hammock (it normally is), tie the whoopie cord onto one end of the webbing then pull the webbing out of the sleeve using the other end of the webbing. As the webbing comes out, it will pull the whoopie cord though.

    Just got mine 3 minutes ago. Gonna instal it right now…….update. It’s done. The double layered hammocks aren’t quite as easy to instal, but it wasn’t bad. One end though, it seemed that the pole and string seemed to get under a seam or something. Not sure, but it wouldn’t go through. I just took it out and went through the other way and it’s fine.
    Can’t wait to use them for a fall one week trip here in the Canadian bush!

    DD Hammocks, does the 'tail' below the berry work well as a drip line? This setup puts the carabiner well outside of the coverage of a tarp. Would you need to add a bit of rope to act as a drip line closer to the hammock?

    • @lassivaatamoinen5468
      @lassivaatamoinen5468 5 років тому +1

      I would say it's better to have a drip line that's tied around the hang rope. That way the drip line covers the hang rope all around, acting as a "stop" for the water running down. The Whoopie's "tail" might allow water running on the upper side of the hang.

    Can you use this system with any hammock or do you need to have a dd hammock as well

  • @HikingFeral
    @HikingFeral 2 роки тому

    Make Sure you shorten the whoopies First as much as possible. If you simply copy this video the adjustable tail won't pass through to the other side. Learnt this from experience changing the suspension on many hammocks.

    I personally think the tree huggers need to be a little longer as I found a nice spot but the tree was a little too far to wrap the tree huggers round 😅 unless there’s an alternative way to use the tree huggers for situations like this?

    • @fighting3209

      Swap the tree huggers for daisy chains, but keep the woopie slings attached to the hammock, works great for me.

  • @georgetallmage

    Are you using the xl tree huggers in this video or the standard 2m. Why I ask? That tree looks a lot like the size of a tree I was attempting to put my 2m around and I couldn’t wrap it. Just curious.

    what do you mean by lock-off please? I'm assuming it has something to do with the little black bead, attached to my whoopie slings when they arrived, but i can't actually see the beads in this vid... so please expand on what you mean by lock-off. Many thanks :)

    I somehow screwed ropes when i was pulling, now i dont have that woopie sling ends and rings that hook to carabiners, i dont know how to get it into a default state. Do i need to order new woopie sling ropes or ? Is there tutorial how to unscrew woopie slings ?

    • @ddhammocks2418
      @ddhammocks2418  Рік тому

      Hi there - if the Whoopie Slings have gone back into themselves this is very difficult to fix and it is likely they will need to be replaced; you can try using a small hook to re-thread these but often depending on how far the slings have fed back into themselves this could be a replacement issue. If you have any additional questions please send a couple of photos along to our sales email and a member of customer service will help as best as they can :)

    I just used my Frontline for the first time. I want to change to the Whoopi slings but I weigh 220 lbs. Is this still a good application? The strength of the Whoopi sling is 125 kilograms same as the hammock.

    • @ddhammocks2418
      @ddhammocks2418  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Joseph! The maximum weight to which we've tested our full set-ups - hammocks and suspension (both the DD Strong Webbing and Whoopie Slings/Suspension System) - is 100kg or 125kg, depending on the model. From what you've mentioned, this will be fine for you as 220lb is just under 100kg :) I hope this helps. Best, Caroline - DD Hammocks

    Hi. How do I get the original tree huggers out of the channel? I've a frontline hammock. Just pull it out?

    • @MintOutdoors
      @MintOutdoors 8 років тому +1

      This setup won't keep your hammock water tight from water running down the lines. What I did was cut the original slings to make a short loop and tie them together then attach the whoopie slings using a crab, water should drip off the crab before getting to the hammock, or you could attach storm rings which are even better at shedding water.
