He should learn from Falkner who's angry that people claim birds are easily defeated by clipping their wings with a jolt of lightning: first in Gold/Silver he fools a kid into guarding the road as a "rite of passage" forbidding anyone to pass, then later in Crystal Falkner commits genocide on all the Mareep just to be really sure.

I recently learned this from another UA-camr who does similar videos: that unreachable water in the northeast part of Cherrygrove was made reachable in HGSS by changing the layout of Route 30 to allow you to surf down to it. However, because they weren't able to implement having multiple encounter tables of the same type on the same map until Generation VII, the portion of that pond that is in Cherrygrove has ocean encounters to match the ocean on the western part of the map, even though the portion that's on Route 30 has pond encounters.

Just had an idea for a potential answer for the girl that gives you fly/steel wing...
What if she's the pro golfer from alola that ends up becoming an elite four member? It would make sense that she'd want to have a getaway that's out of alola so she'd be less likely to get recognized.
And given she's strong enough to eventually end up an elite four member, she would surely be strong enough to get the go ahead to make a retreat on Mt silver.

    • @Kahtisemo
      @Kahtisemo 6 місяців тому +8

Even cooler, if I remember right, you find out Kahili is a former Alolan champion (in their traditional sense of completing all trials then fighting the other kids of her "class" if you will) and then she says in her intro that she was asked to come home when they opened the League. Considering Kukui is trying to get some world recognition for Alola as an official League, it would make sense to get some celebrity endorsement and Kahili is intrigued because she's strong enough she hasn't faced many real challenges lately. I am liking this theory she's been in Kanto now 😂
(And it fits that even if she's been off the radar, Kukui also says he recently had been in Kanto where he lost the League challenge to Lance but maybe he accidentally found Kahili and invited her in person?)

4:40 Maybe they intended the Cianwood Shuckle to be the only one, but it's not the only Shuckle in the game. If you read the Pokémon adventures manga, it gives reasoning to why red has the three starters as well as why he’s on mount silver in the first place. Yes he did borrow them.
Also, in the manga, red’s eevee was a victim of team rocket’s experiment and due to unstable genetics, could go between its stone evolutions at will. That is until it became an espeon while under red’s care, stabilizing it

My headcanon is that every gym leader actually has a full team of strong Pokémon. But because the player is a new trainer, they use weaker Pokémon against you or tell them to go easy on you to make it fair.
Like, if you're a kid born in Fuchsia City, Koga or Janine won't use a level 36 Crobat, but a level 10 Zubat or Spinarak for your first badge, and Brock will use a level 36 Golem and 4 other Pokémon.

I always felt like Johto/Gen 2 was simply an EXTENSION of Gen 1, hence why we saw a lot of Gen 1 Pokémon in the gyms because they featured types that weren’t in the Gen 1 gyms. It wasn’t necessarily trying to be a brand new game with brand new Pokémon everywhere.

Not really, rather early pokemon lore up till around mid-gen 2/start gen 3 was that the pokemon world was like the real world and new pokemon were simply recently discovered. Which is why Jasmine notes Steel types are a recent discovery and while a number of gen 2 pokemon can only be found in Kanto. (and why references to real world animals dropped off after gen 2 and Lt. Surge probably being a Vietnam war vet)
Where as somewhere mid-gen 2/start of gen 3 pokemon became the animals of the pokemon world rather than newly discovered creatures.
It was trying to be a brand new game with brand new pokemon everywhere, but in such a way it made sense with the, then, existing pokemon lore. Having a new region with a bunch of new pokemon and few old pokemon but that's closely related to the old region wouldn't make sense. For the same reason that a lot of animal species found in Germany are also commonly found in Poland.

Blue's Gen 2 team basically confirms that Red and Blue is more canon than Yellow.
Just to add something in the Gen 1 and Gen 2 connection.
In Red and Blue, in the house beside the Cerulean Gym, there is a an old couple. The old woman mentiones that her husband loves trading. Her husband wants a Poliwhirl in exchange for his Jynx and it is the only way to obtain Jynx in Gen 1 games.
Meanwhile, in Yellow, in the same house, the old couple are removed and was replaced by the girl who gives you a Bulbasaur.
However in Gold/Silver/Crystal, still in the same house beside the cerulean city gym, the old couple still lives there and the old woman will still mention that her husband loves trading. The house is also filled with Pokemon the old man got from trades.
If the old couple in Red and Blue are still in Gold Silver Crystal. Maybe the girl in Yellow is non-canon.
Furthermore, in Red and Blue, at the southern area of Cerulean City, a girl is having trouble because her Slowpoke wont obey her. However, by the time of GSC, the same girl is still there but her Slowbro which obviously evolved from a Slowpoke now obeys her.
In Yellow, instead of a Slowpoke, she had an Electrode....well then....

Did You Know Gaming recently delved into the Ditto-Mew theory about a year ago and found that it actually had very little concrete evidence supporting it. Most evidence people gave to back it up was based on loose connections in the games which had more solid evidence supporting there not being a connection. Junichi Matsuda even confirmed in a 2012 interview with GameInformer that there was never meant to be a connection between the two, as that interview was the first time he’d ever heard of such an idea

You can find wild Ditto in Hoenn in Emerald, which takes place the same year as the Kanto games, and possibly even before them, so the idea that they're only in the mansion at that point is incorrect.
According to Shigeki Morimoto, he singlehandedly designed Mew and secretly squeezed it into the code during the final two weeks of production as an easter egg. It was originally going to be an offhand lore mention without even an official design or power set. Transform was probably added to its movepool only because it fit thematically and they couldn't code more moves in at that point.

On the subject of Reds mount silver team, borrowing the other two starters is exactly how it's done in the manga. At that point in time, red didn't have a flyer on him so he had to use his rivals Charizard and he borrowed a Blastoise from the female trainer because of the healing water that was in the hot springs in mount silver. I am vague with the names of the rifle and the girl because they are swapped between the Japanese and English releases.

    • @MagusAgrippa8
      @MagusAgrippa8 11 місяців тому

@nicolefecht3299 Correct. And also Green and Blue. In Japan, the male rival is Green (because Red and Green were the first games) and the girl is Blue (the third game). Internationally, the male rival is Blue (because Red and Blue, both based on Japan's third game, were the titles released internationally) and the girl is called Green. It's a big mess that makes a few jokes in the Adventures manga, Origins, and probably other forms of media screwy.
So yes, I am well aware of their names. I just didn't want people confused when I referred to them as Green (rival) and Blue (girl).

Also in that same series, Blue catches all Pokémon he would use in the gym so that he can train another set to not be impossible to beat and to have a reason to train more Pokémon up to the same level as his old team to prove he’s better than Red in a rival friendly way as well as taking on apprentices in a way

Red is supposed to be a representation of every player of any Gen 1 game, not just Yellow. That's why it includes all the starters, Pikachu and the event/gift Pokémon of the Kanto storyline. Yellow was just an adaptation of R/G/B to be an anime tie-in, but it was still a Gen 1 game that people played, so Red has a Pikachu too.

    Here’s a theory for ya:
Lance got his dragons from team Rocket.
    - The elite four and some gym leaders were supposed to be evil or linked to team Rocket in gen 1.
    - People like team Rocket used wild to tame and force pokemon to fight, Lance is also known as the dragon tamer.
    - Team rocket also sold Dratini via the casino, so it is possible that Lance provided those. (I don’t know about the Safari zone).
    - And lastly, as a stretch, team rocket experiments with prematurely evolving pokemon. This might give a reason how Lance got early Dragonites.
(Wild pokemon can often be caught in the wild with lower levels. It’s my headcanon some trainers may have found some too)

As far as I remember, the only trainer to use a Ditto in GSC is Scientist Mitch, in Mahogany Town's Rocket HQ. The only other location where we can find a big Team Rocket presence is Goldenrod City, which links both routes where Ditto can be found. To give this hypothesis a bit more strength, Drowzee - a pkmn native to thise 2 routes - is the only Pkmn that isn't a Poison type & isn't part of the Rattata line used by a Rocket Grunt in the HQ. Maybe it was taken there by the scientists who work for Team Rocket.
Besides that, R34 is where the 1st functioning Daycare Centre can be found in Pokémon's history, so some may have fled their breeding prision.

See, people always cite the "yellow is the canonical geni game" like it's fact, but it's always bugged me; if that were the case, why does Green use Pidgeot, Gyarados, Arcanine, Rhydon instead of ever using Cloyster, Ninetails, Fearow, Sandslash, or any eevee in any game after Yellow?
The only real evidence is that Red has all the starters and a high level pikachu, but there's absolutely no reason he couldn't have just caught pikachu and traded the starters. Maybe he has Green's starter. Maybe he traded from any of the numerous trainers in Kanto that have a member of a Kanto starter line. They're rare to the player, but they're clearly *not* overly rare in-universe.
Mostly, I suppose, it seems silly to me to suggest the game intended as a recursive anime adaption would be canon over the original games, when GF has gone to lengths elsewise to establish Red as a totally separate character from Ash.

The thing about Ditto being a failed Mew Clone is actually just a fan theory and isn't actually real. Satoshi Tajiri was asked about Ditto being considered a failed Mew in an interview a long time, and he was genuinely shocked as he had no idea that people thought that is what was going on with Ditto. He had never even heard of that theory/rumor before it was brought up in that interview. And guaranteed that is not where Ditto came from, and that it is entirely it's own unique pokemon.
So sadly anything about Mew being related to Ditto is little more than head cannon at best, unless he goes back on that interview at some point and says it really was.
Still a fun idea to mess around with though haha

Regarding the "Red is from Yellow theory", I kinda think that if he actually was from Yellow version, his name wouldn't have been "Red", it would've been "Yellow". "Red" is the first of the three default names from Red Version (duh), whereas in Yellow Version, is replaced by "Yellow" (again duh). Likewise, the Gen 1 rival gets his official name from the first of the three default rival names in Red Version, which is either Green in the Japanese version, or Blue in the international versions, but in Yellow Version, his default name is just Blue, even in the Japanese version.
Also, while Yellow is the only version where you can obtain all three Kanto Starters without trading, Red just could've traded for them. He wouldn't have even needed to specifically obtain then from Blue and/or Professor Oak. He could've just traded with one of the many NPCs who used them in Gen 1. Not like they were rare back then.

The part of the Ditto theory where you mention where it can be found (9:38), Ditto isn't only found in Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave in Yellow. However, in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, Ditto can also be found in Routes 13, 14, and 15, and they have no relation to the Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave. Additionally, they can be found in Cerulean Cave in Red, Green, and Blue, as well as in Rock Tunnel in Japanese Blue, another unrelated location to Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave. So the theories about Ditto and Mew when looked at it from that perspective become less credible. On one hand, yes the similarities make it believable (weight, standard and shiny colors, the connection to Pokémon Mansion) when pointing out the things that make sense, but the whole picture tells a different story. I've never supported the theory for that reason. I'm sure people will be sounding off to my comment trying to explain how Ditto got to Routes 13-15 or Rock Tunnel. There's only one explanation: there's no relation between the two Pokémon.
