  • Today I'm going to go over how to change the front and rear speakers from a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500. The process should be very similar to GMC Sierras from 1999-2006 and Chevy Silverados from 1999-2006. SUV similarity might vary. If it helps out your car, list it in the comments and help out everyone else!

    Awesome! I'll be doing this to my 2003 Sierra very soon! Didn't realize it was that simple! Thanks for the amazing breakdown!

    I have the 03 with tweeters in the a pillar . Do I just remove and reconnect new upstairs tweeters to the stock wires or have to add crossovers or whatnot

      You can try to reconnect to stock wiring. I've seen both scenarios with different cars. 1 where it works great without a crossover and 1 where it made the tweeter sound awful. I would test before you throw everything back together.

    Did you upgrade the stock alternator for this sound system ?

    You didn't use the crossover with the front components?

      Good eye! Not when I filmed this video. Just used the factory wiring and it worked fine. I kept the crossovers and then used them when I decided to rewire the speakers with 14 awg speaker wire preparing it for a 5 channel amp :) I just used some strong 3M double sided tape and adhered it in the doors. Has held up so far and have had no issues!

      Did you use the factory radio/head unit?? I was also wondering if I needed to use the crossover. Good vid

      @@OG_Eid I did use the factory head unit when I installed these speakers and didn't use the included crossovers and they worked with no issues, but were lacking in loudness especially since I did not have a factory amp. Then I rewired the speakers using 14 awg speaker wire, upgraded to a single din Bluetooth head unit and installed a 4 channel amp pushing 50 watts to every speaker all at the same time. Then I installed a sub and rather than have all those thick rewires everywhere, I swapped it out to a 5 channel amp. Works perfect for my application :)

    How's the sound quality of the Kappa speakers

    • @ufixitauto5237
      @ufixitauto5237  3 роки тому +3

      My personal opinion is that they are hard to beat, sound quality-wise, when paired up with an amplifier and a sub. They excel at highs and mids, but lows are where they lack when they are independent. If you pair it with a sub, they sound awesome! I would say if you plan on amplifying them and adding a sub when using it on a larger vehicle, then definitely go for these. If you have a small vehicle, then the reference series are plenty. If you plan on just upgrading the speakers with no amplifier or subs, then you will find them a little lacking on bass. That's my honest opinion!

      @@ufixitauto5237 I'm using the factory amp that's 2 ohm on a 04 sierra, do you think that's enough ?

    • @ufixitauto5237
      @ufixitauto5237  3 роки тому +1

      @@albertwhite8218 If it is equipped with a factory amp, it could very well be enough :) it's all subjective, but personally I think it's enough. I will say though, the tweeters should be relocated for better sound. I plan on moving my tweeters into the A pillars. They should have never been put so far down 😂
