As soon as I heard Lonnie struggled with having a pull towards gay/sexual stuff after God used him powerfully in the Jesus movement, I thought he probably needed both inner healing and deliverance from being sexually violated. My husband had something similar happen as a child, and in our married life he struggled against this inner and involuntary pull to wear women's clothes! Lots of spiritual warfare, churches around us seem to not have the breakthrough answers we needed, yet we flowed in the prophetic. About 2 years of me setting myself aside to just be with Jesus, and He started teaching me all sorts of things, including healing my own heart from being married to a man with PTSD. My breakthrough led to my husband's breakthroughs. Now we help people through what we've gone through. It takes both the logos and the rhema and actively partnering with Holy Spirit to heal those broken places of your heart. I just recently wrote a book on it, hoping others would pick up on what we learned and be set free too. Frisbee's story goes to show that you don't have to have all your ducks in a row to have God use you powerfully, but if you don't keep pursuing the answers and healing you need, your broken parts will wreck havoc upon certain parts of your life and ministry. It's time for all the little streams to come together as one mighty river of God: the Bible, the Spirit, the blueprints and keys from heaven to set the captives free, bind up the broken hearted, and have dry bones live again! The new wineskin is the completeness God wants to bring to His bride, and a return to the Acts church with the 5 fold ministry maturing and coming together. Anyone with me?

As a specialist in the treatment of sexual abuse for almost 40 years, I was very grieved to learn of Lonnie’s sexual abuse and the battles he had. He needed inner healing and the church does not understand the complexities of deep trauma and what it takes to be healed. Problem is also when people walk in such power of the Holy Spirit people think they can pray away abuse or worship their emotional issues away. Or they think it’s just about needing to forgive the perpetrator whereas forgiveness just opens the door for Holy Spirit

Often some in teh church are ignorant and prideful and discouraging to people with these traumas. "Why not just pray?" I can not blame some for saying this as some have prayed and been healed miraculously. I was abused. I was physically tortured and mentally tortured for many years. Then the devil found another person to abuse me physically and mentally at work as an adult. I went through a lot of healing but it was not till I learned what Jesus meant in Matthew 22 34 to 40 and had a revelation while praying my heart out to God to help me forgive in my heart and love all others including my abusers. I grew up Autistic and with Tourette's syndrome and ADHD. I was an outcast from the beginning. I was 50 years old when God humbled me to the floor and I was healed of all my anxiety attacks, depression, and PTSD. The nigh terrors stopped. It has been 3 years of constant joy unspeakable full of glory. Nothing shakes me. Not even when motorists cut me off in traffic and if you knew me at all you woudl see it as a miracle too lol. I am not the same.
We should never use discouraging language to tell people Jesus can help and heal them. It is better coming from someone in the church who understands them as they went through the same thing and were healed.

“If God can use Lonnie, He can use me.”
I came to the realization the other day that God (being the all-knowing Person He is) created Lucifer. Lucifer was once strong in his worship in the Lord. God drew him close to Himself. Of course we all know that Lucifer turned his heart towards himself in the end which created a rebellion against God. But God used Lucifer and gave him and all His other beloved worshiping Angels 😇 a special place in the Kingdom. They never repented or turned from their sins (sin=separation from God, no matter what the sin is.) If God can use Lucifer or Judas, He can use anyone. And if you choose to be used by God, how much more are YOU willing to be genuinely intimate with God and act upon His love for you?

Fast forward to 2023 and the intense effort to normalize homosexual/transgender/pedophile/other sexual behavior and Lonnie’s life may yet have an even powerful impact on the broken hearted. Not the first imperfect person God has used mightily in the history of His people. Our youngest generation confused and often hurt by all the messaging may be the “hippies” of our day. God loves them, Christ died for them, the Holy Spirit longs to love and heal them. What an encouragement for them to know a man used so powerfully by God struggled with this issue while acknowledging it is not God’s plan for His creation. Sexual abuse can be a nearly mortal abuse to a child’s soul and messes with their heads. But God….Thank you to your father for trying to help Lonnie. ✝️

Re: Lonnie parking cars. So it sounds like when Lonnie came back to California with his marriage in tatters and his life turned upside down he wouldn't seem like the perfect candidate for a leadership role. He sounded like he was in need of repair, or treating his wounds. So why would the pastor be expected to put him in a leadership position. I suspect the host here has his own conflicts with pride and ego. I think parking cars sounds like the perfect volunteer task for this guy at this time in his life. Sounds like his pastor was attending to his wounds in his own way.

The pastor shows love for Lonnie by accepting him back into the church organization. And that love comes with an obligation on Lonnie's part to be reconciled with the church and most importantly with God. It seems to me like an act of love for the pastor to give Lonnie a lesser role in the church, because it gives him an opportunity to reflect on his service.

People were hurt because I left, but they were not told that it was not my choice. It hurt me badly, and I left church ministry because of it. I didn't trust church after that for many years. I went into nursing and ministered in that way and still do.

As coming from a Baptist church in the Midwest found the activity in a pentecostal church very confusing. I also attended CC Yorba Linda, with John Wimber on many occasions I am so thankful to have been part of CCM and covered with good, sound doctrine but also learned of the gifts of the spirit from the afterglows at Calvary which was peaceful and orderly, not kaotic or brought attention to anyone person. Jimmy Kempner was teaching at the concerts at that time before Greg. What an amazing time to be part of. The spirit spilled out over my High school, Garden Grove and we were having bible studies at lunch. The group of partiers and drinkers got much smaller as we were high on the Holy Spirits peace. So many changed lives! For this to be real, it had to be Spirit and Word led. All Glory goes to Jesus

It is quite amazing how God‘s spirit seems to have motivated so many to look deeper into the life of Lonnie Frisbee, as a result of seeing the Jesus Revolution movie. The Lord really spoke to me when Stan and Robbie were discussing Lonnie‘s rejection. Christ too was rejected by his people and ultimately crucified. How amazing it is to see how a spirit filled life can look.
    Praise the Lord !!

This is helping me understand something about a lovely church I attended for a few years. Holy Spirit eventually led me to leave because He was not welcome. It broke my heart to leave these people I loved. But God literally showed me that I was a cocooned butterfly and would suffocate if I didn’t break through and fly (I.e. find a Spirit-filled church). We CAN’t fulfill the calling of God to support this current move of His Spirit if we don’t move in the Word AND the Spirit! Excellent discussion!! 🙏🏻

I think there is some truth to what you are saying Lisa. It is also true that without Lonnie, Chuck probably would have never had the church he shepherded. Eventually he chose the WORD over the WORD and the Spirit and that is when the break occurred that initiated the Vineyard movement.

No. In the movie, it showed Chuck doing this after he saw the newspaper showing Lonnie getting attention. He did it to humiliate and put him in his place. With Lonnie’s father wound, that must have hurt. Humility would have been Chuck showing leadership by parking cars as an example. He wanted the stage. It happens all the time I churches. In this " proving time" those over us are looking for humility, teachability, honor of authority and servant hearts- not seeking to be seen but to bless. GOD WILL PROMOTE US, we need to trust our gifts WILL make room for us. NOT SAYING ABUSE IS EVER RIGHT or MISTAKES IN DISCIPLESHIP PROCESS were not made, just saying as leaders we need to be humble and servant hearted, and also need to TRAIN UP new leaders to be Christlike humble and loving servants who seek ONLY God's name be lifted. I plan to watch many of the videos recommended about him. Refreshing to hear about the Spirit being vital with the Word. Most of Christianity today is powerless because they've neglected and rejected and ignored the Spirit of God. I was born again and 'raised up' in a Spirit filled church and miss that so much. Hard to find Bible believing churches nowadays let alone Spirit filled ones. Are Vineyard churches still Spirit filled or have they gone the way of dry bones like so many others?

I think that Chuck Smith used great wisdom in giving Lonnie a humble task after his fall. This can be a great test of true repentance, and when it proves true over a significant period of time, then restoration of ministry can happen -- but not before! Being humbled by lowly tasks is also a great way for someone to be positioned to receive the grace of God for soul restoration because He gives His grace to the humble.

You couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact, if Lonnie was a Chuck Smith Jr or Janet Smith, or Jeff Smith etc. with exact same circumstances, Chuck would not in all eternity have given them parking duty. As he would never humilite his own flesh and blood, but unfortunately Lonnie was broke and had no place to live, after Florida, so he went back a place where he was hoping he could have the basics to live by. I'm not being critical of Chuck, Lonnie did more for Chuck then Chuck for Lonnie. Look how he mishandled the shameful situation with Brian Broderson, talk about a mess. Chuck believed in nepotism, which is normal in human terms, but no member was able to take over CCCM. Brian B was allowed as a potential because he was married to Smith. But obviously Broderson, perhaps goes down in history of CC as the most boring, teacher. But when u build on a another man's foundation, with hundreds of millions in the bank, radio station etc etc, its all there. I don't know Brian, but to his defense of what I hear behind the pulpit, I like his compassion, what he did behind the scenes if true, is very sad, but again, this was Chucks failure, who obviously change his mind about Brian, and didn't want him there. It's obvious he didnt giveit to Mike McIntosh or John Courson simply because they are not a Smith. That's my opinion anyways

🇺🇲America, we need to go back to this. The passion, the anointing, the love of God in it's purest form. Through Jesus Christ, we need to repent of our sins and accept Jesus as Lord. I missed this movement being born in 1979, but God still had a plan for me and my life. He saved me in Highschool, I was a 19 year old Senior. But what these people experienced, I experienced the day I accepted him, I felt his arms literally embrace me, I felt the warmth prescence of the Lord. Everything was there, but it became new before my eyes.
Now at 43 years old, I still serve, love, and accept as Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I am still on the battlefield knowing this world dont have too much time left. As for Lonnie, he was used by God tremendously, he was a great man of God, he had his struggles, but on his deathbed, it comforts me to know, that he repented of his sins. His spirit is with Jesus now, question is, what about you? What about me? We must get our own lives together before we run and judge someone else.

I love how you broke down the areas of discussion by time in the description. Thanks for that.

Thank you so much for doing this and bringing truth to light. I had been hearing so many negative stories about Lonnie and they just didn’t seem to be the truth. So thank you so much for putting this out there 🥰

The judgment from these “brothers” make me viscerally sick. As if they have all their ducks in a row. Come on.

Lonnie seems like a beautiful soul. I can’t seem to think he would be ok with how other people were spoken so negatively of. 😢😔 God Bless Stan. You seem like a pure soul.

I’m loving these conversations. I have judged those that fell in sun and were in leadership. I was angry and hurt but I’m seeing even more how God had used each person regardless of their issues. God really is so good.

I wish Robby Dawkins would have allowed Lonnie’s brother speak more. Robby dominated the conversation and it was quite frustrating
