Just moved into a new home and this lawn looks very similar to the one I currently have! I have already applied one dose of paspalum killer, but may need to look into some additional solutions for the many types of weeds that are growing in my garden. Appreciate the video, will definitely be watching the follow-up for the next steps. Cheers mate!
hey, thanks for watching. The follow up video is live if you want to see how it goes. For the majority of broadleaf weeds I'd recommend bow and arrow or similar product. Cheers
What would you advise to remove paspalum from a blue couch lawn. I have let the blue couch grow longer and it seems to be smothering the paspalum a bit, but I would ideally like to eradicate it. I think it is too big a job to try and pull all the paspalum runners out. Thanks.
Hi mate, DSMA is my normal go-to for Paspalum but it will damage the Blue Couch. I'd suggest a pre-emergent to stop germination and then hand pull or brush with Roundup to kill. It's a tricky one with Blue Couch. Good luck!
@@sammaimas155 Pre-emergent such as Barricade would do the job. It stops the weeds from germinating and stops them from spreading. It's good to do it a few times a year throughout the lawns.
Mr Lovelawns, Does this electric sprayer have an agitation feature, as that powdered winter grass pre-emergent seems to leave some residue at the bottom of the tank when I use it some times. Even after diluting/mixing down before hand into a 1/2-2/3 litre mix then put into the sprayer. Also what size head are you spraying, is it a brass round adjustable type or a you using the fixed coloured ones. I would go as fine as possible on a shorter type lawn as you have here. Also have you or anyone tried that oxafert or oxa-pro I might try it this coming year. It apparently controls crows foot, crabgrass and winter grass. Spreads like normal granulated fertilizer so no mixing and less ppe gear maybe just gloves and glasses and no tank cleaning afterwards is quicker, then water in for 10 minutes after.
Hello Mr Yard Maintenance lol. Thanks for watching. No it doesn't have an agitator, I wish it did. I generally just give it a shake every couple of minutes when its on my back. Nothing too technical lol. The sprayer head is the Solo yellow fan nozzle that came with it, seems to work well enough for my use. yes I have used Oxafert before. Its a good product I would recommend it for sure. Like you said, it's easier to use in many ways too. Cheers.
Hard to find videos where people have used dsma! I’ve been using it on my couch lawn and have successfully killed mature nut grass and broadleaf weeds using the strongest recommended dose. I always add a surfactant to make sure it stays on the leaves and in one application I demolished every weed in my lawn 👌 did you manage to get an update video on this?
Hey mate, I’ve been under the impression that you couldn’t mix the nutgrass solution with the others and had to apply them separately. Do you think I could mix halosafron, bow saw and apparent ravage all in together? Or would it conflict/be too strong?
Hey mate, yeah at lower dilutions like this it’s generally ok to mix these together. Ideally I think a seperate application spaced apart is probably the best and most effective but it’s my understanding that it’s ok to mix them together as I have in this video. For your mix, if you are careful, it should be fine, but the combination is much more dose sensitive than either one individually so careless spraying can result in phytotoxicity. I’d do a bit more research myself to be sure mate.
Good info, thanks
Cheers Wade 👍🏻
Sylvan sprayers are so worth the money. I've got a 16 litre which is just starting to get beyond be - the 12 litre sounds ideal.
Not a bad unit mate 👍🏻 thanks for watching.

Dsma will knock out nutgrass better than sedgehammer.
Apparent demolish a success?
Should the postie deliver it tomorrow I am going to spray it tomorrow arvo.
Yep, works well for certain grass types! Dont spray it on Kikuyu tho!
How to get rid of paspalum on my lawn? Any selective herbicide? Many thanks.
I literally tell you this in the video...?

@@lovelawns Yes, I did not think there was an easy fix. Can you tell me, what is pre-emergent. Thanks for replying.👍

Hey mate I have a problem with paspalum mass
Sorry to hear that
Hey mate whats your suggestion on removing paspalum from buffalo?
Should be able to use the same product I'm using here DSMA Clear

Correction its the Silvan fan nozzle that came with the sprayer. Doh

Hi Jesse, thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah I uploaded a follow up video a few weeks after this one. Should be on my channel. Cheers.
