This was one of the best videos I’ve seen for a long time, while I love all your videos, bringing it back to true Lawn Tips that the average lawn lover could use is great too! Keep it up Ben! 👍
Unfortunately not as many people watch these ones! I also love shooting the other ones, these are good for info but not as fun for me I guess. The plan is to have a mix of both once I get an editor and can shoot more vids 👌🏽
Thanks for the reply on your stream the other night. I've gone ahead and hit my clover/bindii situation with some Dicamba yesterday. Looking forward to this year's reno. Seems like there's a few of us preparing for one!
Thanks, this was super helpful. Especially listing the actual names of products. Looking forward to the pre-emergent video and timings for using this. 👍🏻
hey man, great video particularly the part in your shed. Using all your herbicides as a backdrop was a good touch. You explained everything perfectly. Anyhoo thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Pakenham/Melbourne.
Great vid mate. One thing I've found is there appears to be is no 'go to' weed killer table for common aussie grasses on the net (that I can find anyway - because I look every summer!) So I think there's a real opportunity to make and provide one and become the destination web page for that info for all the punters. Or if anyone has a 'go- to' you use and refer to I'd like to know about it because I'm always searching for that info when the weather warms up..
Should you spray pre-emergent first then spray post-emergent for weeds just to ensure the pre-emergent is down once the weeds are dead and you’re not getting new ones? You suggested the other way round if I understand correctly? I have Barracade, Monument and Primo Maxx ready to go. I have Wetter 600 too.
Timing of secret mix, broadleaf herbicide and mowing? Is it best to wait 7 days after secret mix before applying herbicide? Does mowing before or after herbicide application change effectiveness?
Happy Birthday to Schnitty, first of all. Ben if i seeded some patches in my lawn (warm season couch) this week in qld, and i wanted to apply some green light liquid iron at a reduced rate, will it hurt the seedlings ? Or should i just go over them, with say seasol or lawn porn charger ect ? Really stumped on this 1. That app looks great aswell. Thanks for your help.
Ive got some pretty gnarly onion grass going on on the curb patch of my place. I just cant justify 600 dollary doos for Destiny. Is the other stuff Duke (200 odd) any good or cheaper alternative when you're trying to retain the grass? Or should I stop being a tight arse
Hey mate, doesn't appear to be a lot of products to kill grassy weeds in Kyk like there is for couch. Can you recommend one for paspalum, crabgrass and the others in Kyk?
What do I do if I rip the weeds out of my lawn but there’s a hole where the weed use to be? I’ve only do it for a few so should I stop and use a herbicide for buffalo instead?
Hey Ben, Loving the channel. Happy Birthday to Schnitty. What would you recommend to kill Wandering jew? Have tried the usual Glypho based but with no success, Have been told may have better results with a Fluroxypyr based product such as Starane. What would you recommend?
Glyphosate at 200mL per 10L in winter and early spring. And add a surfactant! You'll need to do it more than once. Fluroxypyr also works, but most people probably don't have it. More information on NSW Weedwise (can't add a link because it keeps deleting my comment!).
Stoked that propyzamide is registered for use on kik now, coupled with pre-emergent have pretty much eliminated poa (that said it's a pretty fussy herbicide). What is it about kik that makes it so precious - just the rate of growth that means it takes up a lot of whatever you apply?
Will recover for sure. Yellowing can be for a number of reasons. Some include: 1. Applied more than recommend rate or didn’t use enough water 2. Super wet lawns 3. Lawn is stressed 4. Too hot 5. Lawn is too young. There can be other reasons why but they are the most common. Either way, it will come back, herbicide burn grows out, just takes longer this time of year
Bathurst here… and it’s just as cold…..the WORST weed that I had for the past two years is that summer grass… almost consumed 80% of the front lawn soon after moving in. I’m guessing that Barricade will help …given that the last product was removed from the market. The tall fescue at the front doesn’t get that many weeds..the (what I think is) couch at the back constantly has weeds and winter grass
That app actually has a separate function for weed identification where you take 3 pictures. A bit more accurate than using the main function with one picture
@@LawnTips pretty much exactly what you’re describing. Small broad leaf. Knocking them down with some bow and arrow. But just curious as I thought pre emergent would stop them all. Good to know I haven’t done anything wrong haha
Yeah pre-emergents don’t generally get broadleaf weeds. It’s mostly grassy weeds and few others. You’ll still find there will be a lot less though! Yeah bow and arrow or hand weeding is the way to go
You don’t need a subscription fee for the PICTURE THIS App. They HIDE the ‘cancel’ button in gray font in the top right corner when the subscription fee window pops up. Been using it for years now, no subscription. Amazing App, just a little devious with their ways.

This vid had Old school Lawntips vid vibes. I like it. 👍 Also, Happy Birthday Schnitty.
Excited! can’t wait to see the golf hole become a reality! I’ll be taking notes for my future bentgrass green over in the northern US!
Personally, I enjoy this type of vlog Ben. Thanks for your efforts in sharing it.
Thanks mate, good to do sometimes.
To be honest not my favourite ones to shoot and edit but good to get the info out there
Super helpful old school lawntips video which I missed. Learned something again. Good refresher. Thanks

Perfect timing of the video, guess what I'm doing tomorrow. Happy birthday Schnitty!! Whoop Whoop!!
Great to hear that the glyphosate was so successful on the Kikuyu "grass". You can extend the sprayer boom next time for even better coverage. 😀
Thanks, this was super helpful. Especially listing the actual names of products.
Looking forward to the pre-emergent video and timings for using this. 👍🏻
Hey Ben, google lens is great for it to. Loved that little sound effect as you threw the weed :)
hey man,

Great video I have been looking for an app to use to ID weeds thanks Ben

That new intro is PURE
I wish you’d do more of these educational videos mate, kinda like your older videos in your old house.
For pre-emergent control of summer grass and poa, is barricade, tenacity or ethofumesate best? In a typical rye/tall fescue NZ lawn.
Timing of secret mix, broadleaf herbicide and mowing?
Is it best to wait 7 days after secret mix before applying herbicide?
Does mowing before or after herbicide application change effectiveness?

I’d stay away from the seeded patches.
Feel free to use some seasol though!
@@LawnTips Thanks Ben, much appreciated mate.

Today on "The Advetures Of Schnitty" ~ Dad sprays and kills some weeds! LET'S GO!!

Great vid mate. Awesome stuff.
Thanks mate!
Thanks for the info…. How would you treat moss growing in the lawn at this time of year? I am down in NZ. Cheers
Iron sulphate would be the best way to knock it down 👌🏽
When is a good time to start prepping for lawn grub in qld?
Next 2-3weeks 👌🏽
@@LawnTips any product you sell that you recommend? Pet safe?
loved this video and will definitely be getting that app. A cpl of dollars a month for the app will save me more dollars from using the wrong sprays .
First weed is known as skeleton weed on our farm. Incredibly tough plant!
Great info bud
Hey what’s going on with brendon haven’t seen him
Great vid tho , keep em coming 👌🤙

Are MCPA and Dicamba (Bindii Killer) safe on Perennial Ryegrass?
Your wife watching the video going right Bens not helping the kids with their maths homework😂😂

Hey Ben.. if you plan to use a pre-emergent in September , does that in anyway affect the recovery of a renovation (scalp/aerate/top dress) in October
Luckily it won’t. I did this last year in my renovation and had no issues 👌🏽
Gonna get that app and pretend I'm Don Burke with my weed knowledge.
Smart move. Your family and friends will be impressed no doubt
Used your turf control with the wet out on my buffalo recently. Buffalo took a hit and went yellow. Hopefully it recovers
Will recover for sure. Yellowing can be for a number of reasons.
Some include:
1. Applied more than recommend rate or didn’t use enough water

Does pre emergent hinder the spread of buffalo?
Slows it down a little yes. Not completely though!
I came for the lawn, I stayed for the Schnitty
What the best way to get rid of quack grass
PlantNet is a free alternative with no ads.
That app actually has a separate function for weed identification where you take 3 pictures. A bit more accurate than using the main function with one picture
I'd buy an A3 Laminated poster of conversion rates and formula's.
Ive had a good Ben sims pre emergent system going. But I’m surprised I’ve got weeds showing up now. Seems the pre emergent might not be that effective
What weeds mate? Pre-emergent won’t get every single weed. Check the label and see if the weed that is coming up is on there
@@LawnTips pretty much exactly what you’re describing. Small broad leaf. Knocking them down with some bow and arrow. But just curious as I thought pre emergent would stop them all. Good to know I haven’t done anything wrong haha

Good tip!
Most iPhones have this feature built in , just take a picture then scroll up and press Look up -plant and it will identify the plant.
Last Aussie 😁
Damn your weed killer and fertiliser shelves must cost a fortune for the everyday guy
I’ve got too much there to be honest.
A lot that I’ve collected over the last 6 years. Including before I started UA-cam
Yewww schnitty

Yoooooooo
Ben, shot u an email about kik in buff. Pls respond when u have a moment my bro 🤘🏻
I wish I could get your products in NZ 😔ps love the NZ Lawn addicts sticker on the sprayer
