- Looking to stand out? The 2016 Hyundai Veloster offers something truly different, with a distinct look, three doors and much more. Here are five reasons this hatchback could be perfect for you.
Unique Style
This car looks like nothing else you've seen. There are cool LED running lights, heated mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels, all of which come standard. From head to toe, this is a job well-done from the Hyundai design team. If you're looking to stand apart from the masses, the Veloster is the way to go.
Affordable
Simply put, you're going to have a hard time finding a sporty hatchback with three doors and styling this unique for this price. The Veloster starts at around $18,000, and even the top trim levels start in the low $20,000s -- this car is definitely reasonably priced.
Great on Gas
Hyundai didn't skimp on the Veloster. They made sure to prioritize fuel efficiency, which is important for buyers these days. The base trim level returns a remarkable 35 miles per gallon on the highway, while the sportier trim levels deliver a solid 33 mpg hwy -- impressive numbers indeed.
Feature-Filled
The Veloster is loaded up pretty nicely. Standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen with all the goods, a rearview camera, Bluetooth and much more. There's also a cool Style package that wraps your steering wheel in leather and gives you a panoramic sunroof -- and that's just the start.
Fun Drive
From behind the wheel, the Veloster certainly holds its own. The base engine has an adequate 132 horsepower, but we like the turbocharged 1.6-liter 201-hp engine best, especially in manual-transmission form. The Rally Edition trim level we drove was especially fun through tight turns.
Autotrader Says
Tired of driving something that looks like everything else? This car can change that, and it won't flatten your pockets. Get into a 2016 Hyundai Veloster, and enjoy this sporty hatchback.

This is my budget dream car and this will be my first car
I have the non-turbo edition. Manual 6 speed transmission. $17K, 48K miles so far. Cincinnati to New Jersey: average gas mileage was 41.3 MPH. On a flat road at 75MPH I get 43-45 MPH. Absolutely bulletproof reliability. 100K warranty. TIres will last into the '60s or better. Super comfortable on long drives. Corners almost like my Miata. Easily keeps up with traffic and pulls away from most cars. Discount on insurance. Love the styling. Great paint colors and durability. Swallows huge amount of stuff with the back seat down.
TIps: Get a K&H air filter. It gives better off the line performance, better mileage. Then I bought the K&N ram air package which gave me great sound from the engine. Remove the back seat headrests for better rear visibility. Buy an Elantra 16" wheel and tire for just in case. It fits in the round spare space. Also, get a jack. My V is a 2016
Good lil review there. How much horse power does your non turbo version have?

5 reasons to buy the hyundai veloster turbo rally edition*
Thats cool they picked the rally edition to show off a Veloster
I bought my 17 veloster new in 18 w/big discount & has consistently delivered 42 mpg mostly hiway miles. with no problems so far. still loving it.
it & Honda civic were only 2 hatchbacks on market & I hated the civic with the CVT.
No regrets, would recommend the veloster.
I just got a 2013 style and tec package . Great little car
This car is extremely underrated. It is fun grabs the road very well very reliable I easily get 40+ on the highway doing 65+. I have the turbo dct
Well hell tell me how to do that I’m lucky if I get 30 on the highway
@@forgedalaska27 get the r spec turbo
Esse carro é muito bonito , tão logo em breve receberei o que comprei pra tirar onda na cidade .(Brasil 2019)
If anyone is checking out the Veloster in 2019... do consider a Honda Civic. I was considering both, the civic is so much nicer. (Comparing 2019 models here) Civics got 2 door coupe or normal 4 door sedan, or 4 door hatchback.
I want this exact model. Where can I get this in East coast of Canada ?
Roos shoes, old school.
I have never gotten 33mpg on my Rally! Maybe all freeway it could happen. It's fun. Not fast unless you spend money on mods.
If you put non ethanol gas in it you will get the mileage. Pure gas 93 octane. And your car will fly
gotta drive like a lil bitch on the freeway with no other cars on the road to get 33mpg in ideal setting that are not realistic.. my car is supposed to get 33hwy 25city, I get 21hwy. You basically need to do 65 cruse control at like 4am when no one is on the road to get in your way and spend about 35 seconds getting it up to 65 babying the shit out of it. car companies lie use the best possible number like its the average
the rims on the rally edition is 18 inches not 17 though :P
So is the regular 2016 turbo.
i might get this in 2022
I have a veloster rally edition same car shown in video and can tell you it has been reliable and a lot of fun
My 2013 has 18 inch
Never mention reliability/ longevity why is that
they still have those crazy long warranties?
Yes, Hyundai and Kia both.
Yeah we just bought a 2017. Came with an 8 year 160,000km warranty. Was insane.
damn........ talk about buying with confidence. but I think all car manufacturers should back their product like this.
35 m/h ?? tell me how to do that on my 2016!!!
Put eco on and drive 90klm/h consistently I've gotten 40mpg doing this.
thats 35 mpg
lol they keep mention ing 3 doors as a selling point. Who in the world is going to decide on buying a car because it has 3 doors instead of 4? There's got to be at least one thing that could have replaced asymmetrical door design to talk about.
Right? Like, who would get a 2 door instead of 4 door... More doors is more better, right?
That's not at all what I said. It is obviously mentioned as being something novel. But it really isn't very novel. It makes it seem like there aren't actual cool things to talk about.
well if you were comparing it to a mini cooper a fiat 500, that extra door is a convience selling point. 3 doors is better than 2. I like it for my little kid too. I put her on the inside where theres no door to accidently open, and if I paralell park, I know she can't get out into traffic.
a guy with a wife and a kid? More room for the driver but still 2 doors for the wife and kid? its a coup on the driver side and a sedan on the passenger. I think its a great idea for someone that wants a 2 door but needs a 4 door. My only complaint unless you get the turbo its supper slow, even this turbo rally top of the line only has 28 more hp than my kia forte5 ex and turbos wear out engines faster and raise your insurance rates so Id say the only good thing about this car is the 3 door because the performance kinda sucks.. this car is all looks.
I actually feel in love with the 3 door. Very quirky and better for additional space when I want a small vehicle. The passenger side door for my kids is nice to be on the same side as the side walk. 👍🏾
I get like 10😅
Ok
Okkk
Those wheels aren't standard 😂
They are I have the same car
